Good afternoon, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So, plenty of
00:05
blustery showers to end the rest of the weekend, but then turning colder as we head into the
00:09
new working week. Low pressure up to the north of the UK pushes north-east in towards Scandinavia,
00:14
leaving northerly winds across all of the UK by the time we go through Monday and Tuesday.
00:18
We then see a brief ridge of high pressure developing, settling down our weather through
00:23
Monday night, but it doesn't last long as low pressure waiting in the wings through
00:27
Tuesday and into Wednesday, bringing us some milder air again, so temperatures on the rise
00:31
through the second half of the week. Back to the rest of today though, and plenty of
00:35
showers around, particularly across northern and western areas. This band of showers pushing
00:39
its way eastwards as we go through the afternoon, turning particularly heavy across Northern
00:43
Ireland and parts of Scotland this afternoon. The further south and further east you are
00:47
generally staying that little bit drier, plenty of blue skies around, some sunshine to end
00:50
the afternoon, but it will still be feeling mild for the time of year. Temperatures similar
00:54
to what we saw on Saturday, maybe down a degree or two, but perhaps around 15 or 16 degrees
00:59
across the south-west, and 12 or 13 across parts of Scotland, so well above average for
01:04
the time of year. Through the rest of Sunday, that area of showers across parts of Scotland
01:08
pushes its way eastwards, meaning most places might see a bit of a downpour as we head through
01:13
Sunday night and into the start of Monday. Perhaps a few clear spells across southern
01:17
areas into the early hours of Monday morning, but almost anywhere could see a downpour to
01:21
start the day. Across parts of Scotland we see some showers feeding in across the north,
01:25
these turning increasingly to sleet and snow, particularly over any high ground to start
01:29
on Monday morning, and with some northerly winds across the northern half of the UK definitely
01:32
feeling colder overnight, temperatures dropping here down into the low single figures, and
01:37
further south a little bit cooler still, around 6 or 7 degrees compared to the weekend. So
01:42
for most of us it will be a bit of a chillier start to the day on Monday, perhaps some frost
01:46
and maybe some ice locally in places across parts of Scotland, but quite a cloudy start
01:50
here. An area of showers across parts of southern Scotland, northern England, pushes
01:54
its way south and eastwards as we go towards the afternoon, but the further south and further
01:58
west you are, generally staying that little bit drier, plenty of sunshine through the
02:02
afternoon, and those wintry showers do continue across parts of Scotland through the afternoon,
02:06
but with northerly winds across all of the UK, it will be feeling much colder than we
02:11
saw over the weekend. Temperatures generally closer to average for the time of year, around
02:15
9, 10, perhaps 11 degrees across the south, and low single figures further north, only
02:19
5 or 6 degrees, but across those eastern coasts we've got a very brisk northerly breeze,
02:24
so that will make it feel even colder still here. As we then go through Monday evening,
02:29
that area of showers across southern and eastern parts of England pushes away towards the southeast,
02:33
so it should generally be turning drier for most of us overnight, but with clear spells,
02:37
northerly winds particularly along those eastern coasts, it will be feeling really quite chilly
02:41
to start the day on Tuesday, quite a widespread frost likely. However, wet weather is waiting
02:46
in the wings as we head through Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing us that milder air, but
02:50
it could cause some disruption in places, so do make sure you subscribe to our YouTube
