Hi there. Some big clouds will build across certain parts of England into the afternoon
00:06
with the chance of heavy showers, even some thunderstorms developing. It's all tied into
00:10
a cold front that's crossed the country during the last 24 hours. It's now come to a rest
00:14
across central parts of the UK. Some outbreaks of light rain initially but turning more convective,
00:19
that means it turns more showery. The big clouds bubble up and the greatest signal is
00:24
for the south Pennines down through the Midlands into parts of central southern England, especially
00:28
around Dorset where some of these lively showers will develop, even some thunderstorms and
00:33
hails. That could cause some impacts but they'll be hit and miss and either side of this system
00:38
some sunny spells, for example, the far east of England, parts of Wales into the southwest
00:43
where we get some sunshine, warmish, 18 to 20 Celsius possible. For Scotland and Northern
00:49
Ireland, certainly a drier and brighter day compared with Thursday, some sunny spells
00:53
across northern Scotland certainly and a marked contrast compared with what's to come through
00:58
the weekend here. Now, the showers across central and southern parts tend to drift their
01:03
way slowly southwestwards during the evening, so perhaps affecting Devon, Cornwall for a
01:08
time but eventually they disappear and then clear spells fairly widely across England
01:12
and Wales, some mist patches forming and temperatures dipping in shelter spots down to three or
01:17
four Celsius, more generally high single figures. Now, for Scotland and Northern Ireland, a
01:22
contrast. We're going to see the cloud thicken here through the night and by Saturday morning
01:27
it's a milder start compared with Friday morning but a cloudier start with some light outbreaks
01:32
of rain, not a huge amount, but a damp start to the day, especially for Shetland. Some
01:37
brightness will emerge though across parts of Northern Ireland into central and northern
01:41
Scotland during the afternoon before thicker and lower cloud returns for the west of Scotland
01:47
and eventually western parts of Northern Ireland along with a few showers. England and Wales
01:51
though after that cool start to the day, plenty of sunshine breaking out and it's going to
01:56
feel very pleasant with light winds and temperatures up to 18 or even 22 Celsius, always a bit
02:02
cooler there on the North Sea coast because of the onshore breeze but that cooling effect
02:06
won't extend too far inland. Then into the evening on Saturday, this thick and low cloud,
02:14
some sea fog likely across north-western Scotland will push more widely across Scotland and
02:19
Northern Ireland bringing some moderate and persistent bursts of rain in places, particularly
02:23
the north-western half of Scotland and Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, England and Wales, the
02:27
clear skies continue, some mist patches and it's going to be a cool start once again on
02:33
Sunday but the cold front further north, well that tends to bring more showery conditions
02:38
for Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday and then it disappears entirely for Monday
02:41
and actually with this high pressure extending across the whole of the UK for the start of
02:45
next week, there'll be plenty more fine and sunny weather and for Scotland and Northern
02:50
Ireland, a better chance of seeing sunnier skies and drier weather at times through next
02:56
week. Plenty more on social media but that's all from me for now. Bye bye.
