Hello, it was another cold start on Tuesday morning with a widespread and, in places,
00:05
sharp frost. And it's going to be a cold day with Arctic air in place across the UK. However,
00:12
compared with Monday, where we saw some heavy rain across southern parts and thick cloud,
00:16
actually a bit more sunshine coming through and lighter winds may make it feel more pleasant.
00:21
However, having said that, there will be some build-up of the cloud and it's not going to
00:26
be entirely sunny because there will be an awful lot of cumulus and stratocumulus across the UK.
00:30
One or two showers into Northern Ireland, perhaps North Wales, but those wintry flurries continue
00:35
in the north of Scotland. Sleet, snow and hail. Accumulations negligible, however,
00:40
and in between there will be some bright spells. A cold wind blowing from the north continues,
00:45
seven Celsius there for Orkney. Out of the breeze, in the sunny spells,
00:50
13 Celsius in the south, however, won't feel too unpleasant. Then into the evening,
00:55
the cumulus and stratocumulus does tend to disappear. And as we go through the evening
01:02
and overnight, we're going to see clear spells across central and northern parts of the UK,
01:06
so another frosty one is expected. I don't think it will be quite as widespread because there will
01:11
be thicker cloud layers moving in from the south-west and certainly towards the south-west,
01:15
it's frost-free, eight or nine Celsius with some light outbreaks of rain into Cornwall.
01:21
But where we get some breaks in the cloud for northern and eastern England,
01:24
parts of Scotland, here low single figures or a few degrees below freezing in some sheltered spots.
01:30
So another chilly start for the north and the east. We keep that cold air in place whilst
01:35
these weather fronts turn up towards the south-west. They're coming in from the
01:39
south-west, so a change in wind direction brings Atlantic air and that means we'll see
01:44
greater increase of cloud and some outbreaks of rain moving in from the Atlantic, but also
01:49
this milder air starting to make inroads. However, Wednesday is still a chilly day across
01:54
the north and the east of the UK, still one or two wintry flurries. Mostly these will be rain
01:58
and sleet towards the coast, hail and snow over hills. And there'll be some bright spells there
02:03
for the north of Scotland, some sunny spells also for north Wales into the midlands, northern
02:08
England, but a few showers will break out during the afternoon. The cloud will thicken for northern
02:12
Ireland, some light outbreaks of rain towards the west here, but it's going to be a dull and
02:16
damp day across south-west and south England as well as south Wales with the cloud covering
02:21
the hills. However, here temperatures are rising, 14 Celsius in the far south-west,
02:27
whilst we're looking at 10 to 12 fairly widely elsewhere and staying in the single figures
02:32
in the north-east. Then into Wednesday evening, the thicker cloud towards the south-west. It's
02:38
pushing its way north-eastwards, but it's making slow progress. I think a damp end to the day for
02:43
western parts of northern Ireland, a few showers continuing for central parts, but also the dull
02:49
and damp and gloomy conditions sticking close to Devon, Cornwall and Somerset as well as perhaps
02:56
parts of south Wales. That cloud and those outbreaks of rain become more widespread across
03:02
southern parts of the UK on Thursday and into Friday. They clear away through the weekend
03:07
and the main trend into the weekend is for temperatures to rise up and down the UK.
