Hello again. A crisp, sparkling winter's day for many of us before it turns cloudier and
00:07
milder from the northwest through the weekend. However, it will take its time as that milder
00:12
air comes in slowly from the west. First signs of it actually across Cornwall during the
00:16
rest of the day. Cloudier here with one or two spots of rain in the far southwest and
00:21
for the Siliars and some cloud and some showers affecting the east coast where it will be
00:26
fairly blustery, those showers mostly falling as rain. But for the vast majority in between
00:31
those areas, well, it's sunny skies but still with a chill in the air. However, light winds
00:38
for many will mean that the sunshine will feel pleasant enough, five to seven Celsius
00:43
or so for many even lower than that over northern hills. Now into the evening under those clear
00:48
skies and with light winds, temperatures fall widely and very quickly a frost forms. In
00:55
addition to the frost, some freezing fog patches will form, some very dense fog through
01:00
the Vale of York into parts of the Midlands, Welsh Marches towards the central and southwestern
01:04
part of England. Minus two to minus three Celsius typically, lower than that in some
01:09
shelter spots and where we've got some snow cover and it's going to be frost free towards
01:15
the west and northwest. Here, cloudier skies begin to arrive and the wind picks up notably
01:20
across the western isles with gales in exposed spots. A damp start to Saturday here with
01:28
the milder air slowly spilling in from the west but it does take its time. In fact, it's
01:33
going to take a long time for that milder air to reach the southeast but it is going
01:38
to be prevalent across western Scotland and Northern Ireland first thing Saturday, frost
01:41
free here but a damp start and a breezy start. The rain then pushes into eastern Scotland
01:47
where it will fall perhaps as snow or even freezing rain over the Grampians and the southern
01:53
uplands above around 300 metres but it's mainly light precipitation and to the east and south
01:59
of Scotland, largely dry. It's England and Wales where we'll see the lion's share of
02:03
the sunshine after a widespread frost and some icy patches to begin things. It's going
02:07
to be another bright winter's day, five to seven Celsius in the south, seven or eight,
02:13
possibly even nine towards the far northwest as that milder but also breezier and more
02:18
damp weather spills in. You can see that boundary between England and Wales as well as Scotland
02:25
and Northern Ireland. Cloudier skies in the west and northwest will lead to a frost free
02:29
night on Saturday night but widely frost and some dense fog patches forming across central
02:36
and southeastern parts of the UK by Sunday morning. Cold but bright here on Sunday but
02:42
elsewhere it's going to be cloudier, breezier with some light outbreaks of rain, some mist
02:48
and fog but also milder conditions. Follow us on social media for all the latest but
02:54
for now that's all from me. Bye bye.
