00:00Supporting the activity of imaging diagnostics, such as x-rays, echographs, tags and magnetic resonances in favor of Olympic athletes, through the activation of a collaboration between the scientific society and the CONI, to promote the training and preparation of doctors in dealing with sports traumas.
00:23This is the goal of the first project between the Italian Society of Medical and Interventional Radiology, SIRM, and CONI, which will lead to a Framework Agreement of Operational Cooperation in view of Milan-Cortina 2026.
00:36It was announced on the first day of The Next Generation, the 51st SIRM National Congress held in Mico di Milano until Sunday, June 23, and the first joint congress of the radiological area, which brings together for the first time about 8,000 specialists from the three scientific societies, radiologists, nuclear doctors and radiotherapists.
00:58It seems important to us as a scientific society to give all our support to a very broad project of education of sports doctors, physiatrists, orthopedists, of all those who are already working around the world of sport from a medical point of view, but who find in radiology a fundamental partner.
01:23Today most of the related sports pathologies go through a radiological diagnosis, which is increasingly more precise, increasingly more focused on the specificity of sports injuries.
01:39Italians are not very sporty, only 26% in fact practice sport, that's why it's important to promote culture to sport and be supportive. In this, the radiologist has a central role together with the clinicians.
01:52In order to promote culture to sport it is also necessary to be helpful to these people, knowing not only the pathology, and in this the clinicians help us.
02:05We radiologists learn a lot from them because we understand what are the answers to be given better from the diagnostic point of view, the answers for an early diagnosis to cure at best, but also the answers for a more effective rehabilitation therapy.
02:23This is important, in the scope of this project we contribute to spread the culture of sport, but also of physical activity, which is part of primary prevention and healthy lifestyles.
02:40The Olympics and Winter Paralympics of Milan-Cortina 2026 will be held in an area of more than 22,000 square kilometers, therefore very innovative, four territories with six Olympic villages and a new asset also in the field of medical service.
02:57Putting together four regions that must be coordinated at the national level and you have to find a solution to optimize the medical services.
03:10We are talking about the best regions at the national level with very advanced systems and therefore the contamination of medical knowledge will be an excellent way to contaminate the other regions that will participate in the success of the Games.
