The City Council has outlined which services are set to face the biggest cuts after declaring itself 'effectively bankrupt' earlier this year. £150 million worth of cuts are planned, with children's services making up over a third of this figure.

A man has admitted stabbing his partner to death at his home in Handsworth. Kinga Roskinska died on 14 March after being stabbed by Pawel Ondycz. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter which was accepted by prosecution. His sentencing will take place next Thursday.

An otter-enthusiast named Mary Heatchcote, who has dedicated 60 years to protecting these animals, recently met the UK's only pair of rescued sea otters at the Sea Life Centre, one of whom is named Ozzy. This was the first rehoming of sea otters in the UK and Mary was made guest of honour.
