Drenching storms on the way for Florida

Storms could bring a month's worth of rain to parts of Florida in the coming days.

00:18 Naples and look at this were not even

00:20 up to two feet of rain for the whole

00:23 year and that is less than half of average.

00:25 We're running about 25 inches

00:27 drier than normal there in Naples.

00:29 An incredible contrast and Tampa's been dry.

00:31 We've been really wet in Miami,

00:33 so overall temperatures here.

00:34 We're at 74 in Miami.

00:35 We have moisture.

00:36 It's warm and humid.

00:37 You head north though.

00:39 Raleigh only 43 where we've been

00:40 on the cool side and there have

00:42 been some areas in the Raleigh

00:44 Metro with a little bit of tornado

00:46 damage after an EF1 tornado last Sunday.

00:48 The recovery continues with

00:49 dry weather in those areas.

00:51 Tennessee,

00:51 Southern Kentucky and into parts

00:53 of North Carolina also had a few

00:55 tornadoes into parts of Mississippi.

00:56 But as we look at the southeast

00:58 Florida radar, there's just some.

01:00 Shower activity now not a whole

01:02 lot to write home about now,

01:03 but we are dealing with rain in Fort Lauderdale,

01:06 but things will escalate through Friday.

01:08 Onshore winds,

01:08 heavier rain into southeast Florida.

01:10 We're going to be dealing with some

01:12 localized coastal flooding during the

01:14 times of high tide here with the new

01:16 moon and that leads to exaggerated

01:18 tidal impacts. But overall,

01:19 this swarm of showers for the East

01:21 side and especially the South side

01:22 of Florida will continue over the

01:24 next few days and then a disturbance

01:26 that's moving through Texas that

01:28 Kevin's been talking about will be

01:30 kind of energizing the rain into

01:32 Florida later this week into the weekend.

01:34 So tomorrow not many major weather

01:36 issues were around 52 for a cool high

01:39 in Raleigh sunshine over Nashville 63 there,

01:41 but rain in Miami.

01:42 That's the wet spot Friday.

01:44 Still rain in South Florida.

01:46 There's our storm system crossing

01:47 the Gulf that will really activate.

01:49 The rain will have locally intense rainfall,

01:51 even a flash flood risk with some

01:54 tough travel in the far south.

01:56 Eastern part of the nation.

01:57 We're looking at four to eight inches

01:59 of rain in southeast Florida along

02:01 I-95 over the five day stretch

02:03 through Sunday with two to four

02:05 inches farther West and overall,

02:06 there could also be as this system

02:09 crosses the Gulf and into Florida.

02:10 Isolated tornadoes out there or

02:12 at least spotty severe weather.

02:13 And some of these coastal concerns

02:15 will spread up the coast into the

02:17 Carolinas with an onshore wind.
