The first day of July could bring damaging winds and flooding downpours to major cities along the East Coast.
Transcript
00:00All right, let's take a look at what's going on across the northeast here and heading a little farther south.
00:03Here we have a nice shot from not far from downtown Roanoke, Virginia.
00:07We've got some moisture in the atmosphere, but most of us are drier.
00:11That's from the Virginia DOT, Virginia V.511.
00:16We look good down that way, but you come up I-81 and you encounter some flash flooding in parts of Pennsylvania.
00:22New York City, you're beginning to see some rain into areas around Staten Island.
00:26It's really not holding together well up into the Bronx.
00:29There's Phillipsburg, PA in central Pennsylvania.
00:31Some showers, thunderstorms into Lawrence Township, New Jersey, into areas around Bel Air, Maryland.
00:35We recently had some heavy rain.
00:37There was also a short-lived severe thunderstorm warning up along I-83 up into far northern Baltimore County up against the Pennsylvania state line.
00:46That storm is no longer quite severe, but we also have some flash flooding in parts of Lebanon County and also Lancaster County at PA and to the west near Carlisle.
00:54The rain has ended there.
00:55This eastern flash flood warning is more of a concern, really concern about southern Lancaster County.
01:00And look out there into many areas here like Mount Joy and other spots.
01:05Northwestern Lancaster County, I should say, there up into an area near Mount Joy and just east of E-Town.
01:11So ongoing problems here into the Susquehanna Valley.
01:15Farther north, strong storms pooling through Potter and Tioga counties recently.
01:20Not severe at the moment.
01:21We're down to 74 in Buffalo, 73 in Portland.
01:24That looks pretty good.
01:25Nice and comfortable there.
01:26But we're still at 91 down into Virginia Beach.
01:28And we'll be tracking strong and severe thunderstorms tomorrow.
01:32Here it comes with a severe weather risk.
01:34You'll notice that we actually expanded the risk area up to near New York City.
01:37Moderate risk.
01:38That's two out of four on the AccuWeather Threat Level Index.
01:40We're concerned about Baltimore, D.C., Philadelphia, Newark, Wilmington, Delaware.
01:44Widespread wind gusts.
01:45Damaging wind potential is the greatest concern with those storms.
01:49That'll be very active there around 4 p.m. tomorrow.
