COVID-19 vaccines will be allocated in two phases to prevent hoarding: WHO chief

WHO, 코로나19 백신 민족주의 재차 경고..."집단 대응해야"

A warning has been issued against hoarding potential COVID-19 vaccines.
The Director General of the World Health Organization spoke out Tuesday against so-called "vaccine nationalism," referring to countries putting their own interests ahead of others in trying to secure supplies of a potential vaccine.
Saying "nationalism exacerbated the pandemic and contributed to total failure of the global supply chain," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus proposed a plan of vaccine allocation.
That suggests the vaccine be rolled out in two phases.
One, vaccines will be allocated proportionally to all countries participating in the WHO-led vaccine development plan.
For most countries, phase one could build up to 20 percent of the population and would cover most of the at-risk groups.
Then in phase two, consideration will be given to countries in relation to their threat and vulnerability.
