Meanwhile, South Korea's presidential office is reviewing the possibility of holding a Cabinet meeting today, depending on Japan's decision to remove South Korea from its 'white list' .
Seoul's presidential Blue House says the meeting, normally held every Monday, may be convened today if Japan green lights South Korea's removal.
On Thursday, President Moon Jae-in was briefed on the latest developments.
The Blue House spokesperson said the president discussed the issue with related officials, including the finance, trade and defense ministers for over two hours.
The details of the meeting have not been released given the sensitivity of the matter.
