Presidential office is reportedly reviewing to hold a Cabinet meeting Friday, depending on Japan’s decision of removing South Korea from its whitelist of trading partners.
The Blue House says that the meeting, normally held every Monday may be held tomorrow if Japan passes a bill to drop Seoul from the list.
Earlier today, President Moon Jae-in was briefed by the members of his Cabinet on the latest developments of Japan's export controls.
The Blue House spokesperson, in a text message to reporters, said the president was briefed by related ministry chiefs including the finance, trade and defense ministers for over two hours from 10-30 AM.
The details of the meeting however have not been released given the sensitivity of the matter.
An official at the top office said that the president is closely monitoring the situation as it unfolds and is reportedly preparing for countermeasures.
