A Popular South Indian Tea Time Snack and a street food made using skinned Split Bengal Gram that is Chana Dal. Masala meaning a mixture of spices are added to the coarsely ground chana dal mixture to make these crispy and flavorful vadas. If you are looking for a street style masala vada, then this recipe may be for you. Absolutely flavorful, delicious and crispy! Masala Vada is prepared during festivals in most South Indian homes. It is usually served along with tea or with a chutney as a snack.

Ingredients used in Masala Vada
• Bengal Gram (Chana dal soaked) - 1 cup
• Oil - to fry.
• Salt - to taste.
• Cumin seeds/jeera - 1/2 teaspoon.
• Green chilies (chopped) - 4 numbers.
• Onions (finely chopped) - 1 small.
• Coriander leaves (chopped) - 1 bunch.
Method:
1.soak channa dal for about 4-5 hours and strain the water. Keep aside.
2. In a blender, add green chilies, cumin seeds, one-inch ginger along with soaked channa dal and coarsely blend as shown.
3. Then transfer this mixture to a bowl, season it with chopped onion and mix well.
4. Make it into flat dumplings and deep fry in medium heat till golden color and crispy.
