Ingredients - 1 cup of toor dal ( soaked for 15 minutes ) - 1 or 11/2 cup of water - 1 tsp of salt - pinch of turmeric - oil - 1 tsp of cumin seeds - 1 tsp of mustard seeds - few curry leaves - 2 tsp of ginger and garlic paste - 2-3 green chillies - 1 chopped onions - 1 chopped tomato - 1 tsp of red chilli powder - 1 tsp of coriander powder - 1 tsp of cumin powder - water - coriander leaves - 2 dry chillies - 1 tsp of garam masala
Method - In a pressure cooker add toor dal ( soaked for 15 minutes ), water, salt and turmeric - Mix it well and let it cook for 2 whistles - Heat a pan and add some oil then add cumin seeds,mustard seeds,curry leaves,ginger and garlic paste and green chillies - Turn off the flame of pressure cooker - Add chopped onion to the tadka and cook it well - Add chopped tomatoes to the tadka - In the tadka, add red chilli powder,coriander powder,cumin powder,water and coriander leaves - Add 2 dry chillies - Add the cooked dal into the tadka - Add garam masala, coriander leaves and the dal is ready to be serve.
