Trikonasana is a yoga position that helps to strengthen the muscles in the spine and helps to align the shoulders well.

Meaning :

Trikon in Sanskrit means pose and asana means seat. Trikonasana therefore means the posture of the triangular form.

Technique :

Trikonasana starts with keeping the legs apart. First, it is done facing left and then it is done facing right.
Keep the leg one length apart and ensure that the knees are straight.
Turn the right foot totally towards the outside and the left foot should be kept around forty five degrees parallel to the floor.
Spread the arms t the sides and keep the palms facing downwards.
Now drop the right arm such that the right hand reaches the ankle and the left arm is vertical.
The trunk and the spine would be twisted around each other in an anticlockwise manner.
The spine is all the time parallel to the floor.
The head looks at the left thumb and the arms are well stretched.
Return to standing position and now repeat the exercise to the left.
