Tadasana is a yoga pose that is usually done to bring about a change in the pattern of living. This also helps to maintain health as it is a good yoga exercise for blood pressure. This yoga posture maintains the equilibrium of the body and balances between curing ailments and maintaining the physical resistivity.

Meaning

Tada in Sanskrit means mountain and any pose or posture is called asana. So Tadasana means a yoga pose, which resembles a mountain.

Technique

Tadasana begins by standing straight with the heels apart.
Spread the toes.
Now touch the heels with the edge of the toe.
The asana begins by standing erect and by touching the heels with the tip of the toe.
Raise the toes with the heels and slowly let them fall back on the ground.
Now rock them to and fro and stop when you feel the weight of the body has now been balanced.
Make sure you tighten the muscles in the thighs and then raise the knee caps.
The thighs are taken inwards and the pelvis is brought up to the belly button.
At the same time, the shoulder blades are pressed and the collar bone becomes wide.
Place the collar bones on the pelvis with the bottom of the chin kept parallel to the floor.

Benefits

Tadasana is a good form of yoga which gives strength to the thighs, ankles and abdomen.
The abdomen and the buttocks also get strength through this yoga exercise for blood pressure.
Problems like sciatica are solved very easily by this yoga exercise for blood pressure.

Caution

However people who have problems of sleep, and who have sciatica should take medical guidance before doing this asana.

Ensure that you are alternate the position of the legs and arms while you perform Tadasana.
