Tadasana is a form of yoga which is usually done to improve the equilibrium within the body and also helps to maintain a proper posture.

Meaning :

Tada means mountain and asana means pose so Tadasana means the mountain pose.

Technique :

Start the asana by standing erect and touch the heels with the base of the toe.
Make sure you stand with the heels apart.
Spread the toes and then raise them with the balls of the feet.
Now allow them to fall flatly on the ground and then start rocking to and fro.
When the weight is balanced, bring down the sway.
Slowly tighten the muscles in the thigh region and raise the knee caps.
The ankles can be raised so as to strengthen the inner curves.
Now turn the upper portion of the thighs inwards and gradually extend the length of the tailbone.
Raise the pubis towards the navel.
The shoulder blades should be pressed with the chest raised upwards and the collar bones widened.
The head is usually balanced over the pelvis and the lower part of the chin is always parallel to the floor.

Tadasana helps to maintain the overall health of the person and also increases the stamina.

Tadasana helps to strengthen the muscles in the knees, ankles and the thighs.
The abdomen and the buttocks are strengthened well.
Tadasana helps to relieve one of problems of sciatica
If children have flat feet then this is a good way to get rid of it.

Caution :

Kids suffering from any kind of pressure or if they have insomnia, then they should not perform this asana.

If you are a beginner then you could stand with pushing the leg a little bit. You can vary the asana by altering the position of the arms by stretching them on top or by keeping them perpendicular to the floor.

Tadasana is a good exercise and yoga form for children.
