French island of Mayotte struggles to cope with migrants

Mayotte is a French overseas region or "department" located in the Indian Ocean. It used to be part of the Comoros, which was a French colony until gaining independence in the 1970s. Since then there's been a widening economic discrepancy in living standards between the Comoros and French Mayotte. The island has now become a little-known frontier of EU migration.
