00:00It's a victory lap for President Donald Trump. He now has the backing of the Supreme Court to
00:05curtail lower court orders that have hampered his agenda for months, including his controversial
00:09plan to effectively end birthright citizenship. That was meant for the babies of slaves. It
00:15wasn't meant for people trying to scam the system and come into the country on a vacation.
00:21Under Trump's directive, more than 150,000 newborns would be denied citizenship annually,
00:26according to the plaintiffs who challenged it, including the Democratic Attorneys General of
00:3122 states, although the Supreme Court has signaled that the plan to effectively end it may never be
00:36enforced. The issue has become a rallying cry for Trump and his Republican allies, who accused the
00:42judiciary of impeding his agenda against the will of voters. But Friday's decision removes a big
00:47obstacle for the U.S. president, who's now poised to carry out his other pending policy objectives.
00:52Thanks to this decision, we can now properly file to proceed with these numerous policies and
00:59those that have been wrongly enjoined on a nationwide basis, including birthright citizenship,
01:05ending sanctuary city funding, suspending refugee resettlement, freezing unnecessary funding,
01:12stopping federal taxpayers from paying for transgender surgeries and numerous other
01:17priorities of the American people.
01:19The Supreme Court's decision also spells out far-reaching ramifications for the judiciary's
01:24ability to rein in Trump and even future American presidents, as it means district court judges
01:30cannot individually block a president's orders across the country.
