00:00Despite being banned, Hungary's capital is preparing to celebrate pride.
00:05Budapest's liberal mayor has turned the march into a municipal event,
00:10celebrating freedom to circumvent the ban.
00:15I very much hope that the attempt to ban the Pride March will go down in Hungarian history
00:19as the greatest of political own goals.
00:22The ban may well backfire politically.
00:25He's receiving support from across the EU, including the EU Commission.
00:31And people from across Europe are travelling to the event
00:34to both celebrate and show their solidarity,
00:37including an expected 70 members of the EU Parliament.
00:42On the eve of Saturday's march, people gather at a local bar.
00:46From more than 40 countries, people are coming to support the Pride March.
00:51So I think it's going to be awesome, and I think it's going to be the biggest Pride March
00:56that was ever launched in Budapest.
00:59Though the prime minister has warned of legal consequences for attending the event,
01:04he said police would not use force to stop it.
01:07Of course the police could dispense such events.
01:11They have the right to do it.
01:12But Hungary is a civilized country, a civilized place.
01:16Here we don't want to hurt others.
01:17More ominously, he's allowed far-right and neo-Nazi groups permission
01:22to stage counter-protests along the same route.
