BORN without arms, also known as bilateral aplasia of the upper limbs, Inga has got used to simply doing everything with her feet. Although she had prosthetic arms fitted when she was younger, Inga rarely uses them because they were only cosmetic with no practical use. The student and aspiring model uses a special chair in the kitchen that raises her level with the countertops. Inga has a driver’s licence and other than moving her seat forward, drives a regular car. The one area which can be more of a challenge is clothes shopping - Inga either has to order online or go with her boyfriend Joe. But all in all, Inga hasn’t ever had arms and she says she’s never really needed them.

00:00I was born without arms.
00:02Everything you do is adapting to your environment
00:05to live in a world that was not designed for you.
00:08Are there things I can't do?
00:09I mean, push-ups would be difficult.
00:11Besides that, there are specific articles of clothing
00:14that are difficult for me to wear.
00:16Today is exciting.
00:17We are going to go shopping.
00:19My boyfriend and I are having a dinner date tonight,
00:22so we get to go find an outfit for that.
00:27What do you think?
00:30I was born without arms,
00:32and that condition can also just be known
00:34as bilateral aplasia of the upper limbs.
00:36I think it definitely made me have thicker skin,
00:39and it definitely made me have to learn
00:41how to troubleshoot things from a very early age.
00:44I was adopted from the Russian orphanage.
00:47I had therapy lessons,
00:49and they would have me use my feet to play with things.
00:52Everybody is born with two hands,
00:54and you learn how to adapt to your social surroundings.
00:58I just was born without them.
01:00For the most part, no.
01:01I love the fact that I don't have arms.
01:02I mean, I wouldn't be on camera right now filming for this.
01:06Are there things I can't do?
01:08I mean, push-ups would be difficult.
01:09Besides that, there are specific articles of clothing
01:12that are difficult for me to wear.
01:14I tend to wear clothing a lot more like this that's just very easy,
01:18very close to my body because I use my legs for everything.
01:21I don't like having puffy sleeves or really loose pants.
01:26I kind of just like everything to be close to my body.
01:29If it's a coat and somebody else is around, like my boyfriend,
01:32I will just have him do it.
01:34Joe will help me if I need to have something buttoned.
01:37He'll even sometimes curl my hair for me, which is really sweet.
01:40Today is exciting.
01:41We are going to go shopping.
01:43My friends and I are having a dinner date tonight,
01:46so we get to go find an outfit for that.
01:49I can do a lot of things by myself.
01:51I've learned how to adapt so well with feet.
01:54I need to put this down.
01:57And then I'm pretty short, so slide that in.
02:01But basically, I just have one foot on the gas,
02:04and then you have your brake, and I'll just alternate.
02:06And then I just do this.
02:08And then for like the turn signal, I can just do that
02:11and still have my foot on this.
02:13I don't have any car adaptions, if that makes any sense.
02:16So I can drive any car.
02:18I could not drive a manual though.
02:20I'm super looking forward to shopping.
02:23There are going to be days where I feel awkward
02:26or where I feel clumsy.
02:28I think the biggest frustration when I go out in public
02:31is just knowing that other people aren't used to me,
02:34and I'm sort of like an alien in their environment in a way.
02:37And so they'll stare or ask questions,
02:40which again is at least completely fine for me.
02:42For some people with disabilities, it's not.
02:44Joe is honestly one of the most supportive people that I know.
02:47It's never been an issue for him.
02:50I'm definitely hoping to find something
02:52that is very comfortable and easy to wear
02:55and something that will make me feel confident.
02:58This is cute because it's super flowy.
03:01So it'd be super easy for me to get on and off.
03:03It looks very comfortable and I can style it very easily.
03:06These are body suits and I would love to be able to wear body suits and stuff like that.
03:10The thing that I avoid wearing the most would probably be body suits
03:13because those are just a pain to get on and off.
03:15And if you need to use the restroom, it's just game over.
03:18So it's really difficult to get certain things
03:20because if they're too wide in the shoulder, then they'll just fall off.
03:24This top is definitely my favorite thing I've tried on.
03:39I think that it's very comfortable.
03:43You like it?
03:44Actually, it really is super cute.
03:45Y'all have a good one.
03:46Thank you, too.
03:47Thank you, too.
03:48I just got done shopping.
03:49I had such a fun time and I'm so excited to wear my new clothing at the grocery store.
03:53Stop.
03:54What the heck?
03:55Alright, dinner is just about ready so we are going to go get changed and be right back.
04:09Three, two, one, go.
04:14What do you think?
04:15Honestly, I think it's perfect.
04:16It looks super comfortable and I think you look gorgeous.
04:20I think it's really important for people with limb differences and just people in general
04:25with disabilities and differences of all kinds to be represented because I think we live,
04:30again, in an age that is very comfortable with the one-size-fits-all mentality.
04:35I think it is really important for media to showcase more diversity because, I mean,
04:40at the end of the day, that's what's real, right?
04:50And that's where people, right?
04:51And that's how you thank the ball so that dramatize.
04:52I think, that's how you see.
04:53And this is something that we're talking about whenider.
04:54And that, as you, as you heard from the other team, you didn't have a good amount of action
04:55so you could touch people's singing.
04:56The gas system is really well all Kings.
04:57When enca peace as a song from the деревaurus, I think it's really well and the start,"
04:58Super Mo, too.
05:00It's really good.
05:01Well, they're going to have a good one.
05:02On that afternoon, we won't sporting the
05:14long water.
05:15Whoa, what have you seen?
05:16How do you think?
05:17When I saw this playing world, Lord P那就.
