00:00I'm looking for big bucks. I won't be working, you will be working.
00:05Lord Sugar's on the hunt for a brand new business partner.
00:11The whole point of this is to prove that we can start a business with £250,000.
00:16This is not about chance in your arm. I want a business model, a business plan.
00:20I want someone who's going to go for it.
00:22Ready to fight for his funding, 20 aspiring entrepreneurs.
00:27This place is full of sharks. You've got a noose here around your neck.
00:32I'm the judge, jury and executioner.
00:35On the table, a quarter million pound investment and a 50-50 partnership with Britain's toughest backer.
00:44Let's get rid of the deadwood. No hopers, no chance, don't waste my time.
00:49Oh, Shalom, how are you doing?
00:51It's a deal worth fighting for.
00:53I am absolutely livid.
00:56Both, both, stop.
00:58Just a quick one, the toilet isn't in the best condition right now.
01:0120 candidates.
01:03Dan's shouting to me, James is shouting to me, you're shouting to me, you're shouting to me.
01:05What do you want me to do?
01:0612 tough weeks.
01:08Oh, sorry!
01:10All we have is whinging and whining.
01:12One life-changing opportunity.
01:15You're fired, you're fired.
01:17It's too little, too late.
01:19You're fired.
01:20Previously on The Apprentice.
01:32I want you to create your own coach tours.
01:36Daniel risked it all on top whack tickets.
01:39So if you fancy it, it's a one-off tour.
01:4190 pound, 90 pound we can do now if you fancy.
01:44But his management style.
01:46I feel like we've PMed this whole task.
01:49Cost him with his team.
01:51The best thing that that boy sold all day is himself to us and then nothing since.
01:55While Sanjay's sing songs.
01:58Freeman went to mow, went to mow a meadow.
02:01Sent his customers round the bend.
02:04Torture.
02:05Torture?
02:06Are you joining in?
02:08In the boardroom.
02:10Flannel is for the bathroom, not the boardroom.
02:13Daniel won.
02:15Profit of 1,037.99 pence.
02:18But his team still turned.
02:21It's like the analogy in football when the manager loses the dressing room.
02:24It was no laughing matter for James.
02:27I'm telling you for the last bloody time, clean your act up and stop being a clown.
02:33And Gemma got lost in the crowd.
02:36I listen.
02:37That's the difference.
02:38I listen.
02:39You don't do much.
02:40Gemma, you're fired.
02:42She became the ninth casualty of the boardroom.
02:46Now 11 remain to fight for the chance to become Lord Sugar's business partner.
02:536am.
02:54Good morning.
02:55Good morning.
02:56Lord Sugar would like you to meet him aboard HMS Belfast.
02:58The cars will be outside in 20 minutes.
03:00HMS Belfast.
03:01HMS Belfast.
03:02That's the army, isn't it?
03:03Yeah.
03:04Wake up.
03:05It's the army, isn't it?
03:06Yeah.
03:07Wake up.
03:08It's HMS Belfast.
03:09Wake up.
03:10Wake up.
03:11It's HMS Belfast.
03:12I think it would be interesting if you mix the teams up.
03:16You guys seem to have taken some lumps out of each other.
03:17The way Daniel is acting now.
03:18We tried to reconnect the group on our treat, but he just kind of wasn't interested.
03:19Oh, yeah.
03:20It's the way Daniel is acting now.
03:21We tried to reconnect the group on our treat, but he just kind of wasn't interested.
03:26I think, as Lord Sugar would say, there's still a bit of dead wood laying around.
03:27More than dead wood.
03:28Dead trees.
03:29Oh.
03:30Oh.
03:31Oh.
03:32Oh.
03:33Oh.
03:34Oh.
03:35Oh.
03:36Oh.
03:37Oh.
03:38Oh.
03:39Oh.
03:40Oh.
03:41Oh.
03:42Oh.
03:43Oh.
03:44Oh.
03:45Oh.
03:46Oh.
03:47Oh.
03:48Oh.
03:49Oh.
03:50Oh.
03:51Oh.
03:52Oh.
03:53Oh.
03:54Oh.
03:55Oh.
03:56Oh.
04:03Five of us left in Summit now.
04:04Yeah.
04:05We're dropping like flies.
04:06Mm-hmm.
04:07Daniel, project manager on the last task, don't suggest you want to put yourself forward
04:13again.
04:14I don't mind as long as I can lead us to victory again.
04:17It doesn't bother me how many times I do it.
04:20On the River Thames, HMS Belfast.
04:26Once an active warship, today a maritime museum.
04:50Good morning.
04:54Good morning, North Sugar.
04:56Well, welcome on board HMS Belfast.
05:00Vessels like this inspired the board game battleship.
05:06Your task this week is to come up with a board game, from prototype to finished product in
05:12just 48 hours, and then you're going to go off to sell them to the trade.
05:18And it's very simple.
05:20The team that comes in with the highest amount of sales wins, and in the losing team at least
05:27one of you will be fired.
05:30Good luck and off you go.
05:35Teams have one day to create an original board game before securing as many sales as possible.
05:42First, pick team captains.
05:45I'm happy to lead the team, but I mean, in terms of this particular task, nothing stands
05:50out in terms of my particular skill set.
05:53Of any of the tasks done, this is the least suited to me.
05:56I don't have a family.
05:57I've never really bought a board game myself.
06:01In my work experience, I'm only 23, so I've never taken something from its beginning stage
06:05to its very end stage.
06:06But I've worked in an awful lot of branding campaigns.
06:08I'd like to give Pamela a go.
06:10I think based on we haven't seen you in a leadership position, it might be nice to see how we go.
06:15That would be my vote.
06:17Super.
06:19Down the hall.
06:21Teenagers now are on the internet all the time.
06:23I think for parents, a nice game that they can get everybody together.
06:26Absolutely.
06:27I think that's what we need to go for.
06:29Already set on a fun game for families, project manager James.
06:34You know what, I got out of bed this morning, I thought it's time for me now to show I am
06:39serious, I mean business, and hopefully through this, win or lose, I can show what I'm all
06:43about.
06:44So everyone put in an idea for the game.
06:46The kid chooses a category, so it could be like, I choose a category of beach, and then
06:50the kid would go out of the room and have to choose an emotion, so it could be anger.
06:54He comes in and has to act that anger emotion in a beach scenario, and then the rest of
06:59the group guess what the emotion is.
07:01So, I think it's a bit complex that, isn't it?
07:04My idea is basically two teams, and whoever's turn it is would take a card, and let's say
07:10France is the example I was thinking, they have to convey to their team that it's France.
07:14On the card there'd be a few clues, they could draw one of them, like the Eiffel Tower.
07:17If it was audio, they could say, sing a French song.
07:20Rasheen, that's a good idea.
07:22On the other team...
07:24I think traditional pieces round the board are, you know, very much last century.
07:27..still scrabbling for an idea.
07:30Could we do something very simple with, like, a pull-up sheet, a lamp behind it?
07:35You've got to try and create some shadow creations.
07:38Solicitor Lauren.
07:40It's a little bit like charades, but it's modern.
07:42But what can you do with your hands, apart from, like, a bunny rabbit?
07:46The biggest things for adults online is dating websites, relationships.
07:51I don't know any board games out there that go too much down that avenue.
07:55I like the relationship board.
07:56Out of the ideas that we have so far, my favourite idea would be the relationship board game.
08:01It's new, it's current.
08:02But what about, like, challenging each other?
08:05Battle of the sexes.
08:06Battle of the sexes, that kind of thing, so there's actually a game behind it.
08:09This task needs passion and it needs someone who will take it over with conviction
08:14and I took it on because I felt like I can do that.
08:17Next.
08:18I think the focus group, I think me and Bianca will go.
08:21Put players in their place.
08:24Roisin and Solomon, you know, you're quite creative as well.
08:26You've come up with some good ideas.
08:28You're quite sensible, Roisin, aren't you?
08:30I am, yeah.
08:31So I think together designing would be great.
08:33You know, I think it's important that we get the game right.
08:36So let's wrap it up, let's go, yeah?
08:3811am, the teams divide, half head off to create their game.
08:45Mark's idea about the relationships.
08:47I think it's a touchy one that needs to be handled tastefully and funnily as well.
08:55Humorous.
08:56Humorous funnily.
08:57Funnily is definitely not a word.
08:59Definitely not a word.
09:00The rest to get the measure of the market.
09:03Hello, guys.
09:04Good to see you today.
09:05A little idea about a board game.
09:07While James and Bianca pitch Roisin's geography concept.
09:12It's based around the idea of going around a board and basically kind of conquering each city or country.
09:20For the other team, a group of board game enthusiasts.
09:24What are the games that you usually go for?
09:26For myself, it's mainly either science fiction or fantasy.
09:31Putting forward his game for grown-ups, Mark.
09:35As you know, online dating is going through the roof at the moment.
09:39Why not meet through a board game?
09:41It's actually a board game to help that ice break and to help the concept of dating and bring it back offline.
09:47I don't think that would work so well for an adult gamer market.
09:51It might come across as a bit sleazy as well.
09:54If you pull that out and say, oh, I think we should play this dating game.
09:57What's the message you're communicating?
09:59Yeah, of course.
10:00Okay, so guys, we've just come out of the market research.
10:03The actual people we met with were die hard board gamers.
10:07Different to really our target market, if I'm honest.
10:10They thought that it could be taken as a bit sleazy or dodgy at times.
10:14I'm growing to like the relationship team very much.
10:18But in terms of listening to this market research right here, right now, they didn't like the idea of anything to do with relationships.
10:25I do know that we always don't always have to go with market research.
10:29I definitely think we're going to go with the relationship edition in some shape or form.
10:33I hope everyone is happy with that.
10:35It's an executive decision that I have to make fast.
10:38If that's the decision you want to make, obviously your PM, that's absolutely fine.
10:41Yeah, okay.
10:43Bye, bye, bye.
10:46To be honest, it sounded like they were steering us on the relationships from the start.
10:50Yeah. Anyway, that's the decision made by the other team.
10:53We supported.
10:54It's been made now.
10:55I just don't want a brand that comes across sleazy.
11:00Mapping out her idea with a game designer.
11:03What we're going to have is a card deck.
11:05You'll have a country, which will be at the top, so France is the example here.
11:09Roisin.
11:10The person who picks the card, they will have to either give a visual or an audio clue to their team members,
11:17and they have to guess what country they're talking about.
11:19Right.
11:20Say the Eiffel Tower, baguette and beret or something like that.
11:24Board game is very much my product.
11:26It's my baby, my brainchild.
11:27I have very much creative control, and this is all about the game.
11:31So I'm surprised James hasn't come with us and the design team.
11:34We've got 24 countries, 48 cards.
11:36Yeah.
11:37So we have an easy and a hard card for each country.
11:39Perfect.
11:40Yeah, cool.
11:41Yeah.
11:42Let's go.
11:43Okay.
11:44Rolling the dice with her relationship game.
11:45I mean, I can start writing funny, quirky questions if you want.
11:48Fine.
11:49So what I'm thinking is keeping it full of comedy.
11:52Project manager Pamela.
11:54Which of the following do the relationship gods consider most annoying to men?
11:58A visit to the mother-in-laws, watching a romantic film, or your partner snoring?
12:05And my answer was obviously a visit to the mother-in-laws.
12:09Mark clearly fed back from his sub-team that games about relationships were a bit sleazy.
12:15They completely ignored it.
12:17What do men find most attractive?
12:19A great personality, a great smile or a great hairstyle?
12:23They've gone off, done a relationship game.
12:26Not just a relationship game, but the relationship guru, where they are the guru and they decide
12:31what men or women would choose.
12:33A great smile.
12:36You have not got it right.
12:40Across town...
12:41What we want to create here is a natural living room.
12:44These people are naturally enjoying, you know, playing the game.
12:47Next move for the other team, take a fitting photo for their box.
12:51The game's supposed to be fun, so I want the parrot on your shoulder, so you're kind of living the adventure next to the tree kind of thing.
12:57Aiming for an exotic image, James.
13:00I think that's on now, yeah?
13:01Yeah.
13:02Are you okay with that?
13:03What are you looking at, Andrew?
13:04Yeah, Bianca, just stand down one second.
13:05Okay.
13:06Photographer.
13:07Is everything going to fit right?
13:10I want to get the table in, maybe slightly less crop on the table a little bit.
13:13Get tighter, we can get all that in, can't we?
13:15I've just asked Alistair...
13:16But don't you think there's...
13:17I've just asked Alistair...
13:18Wait, you've got...
13:19Let me finish my sentence.
13:20I've just asked Alistair to basically crop in slightly, so we'd lose a little bit of the taxi and lose the light.
13:25You can't stop the taxi.
13:26But...
13:27I know, I know.
13:28James, I'm not working against you, I'm working with you.
13:30Bianca, she got a bit of attitude, a little bit too big for her boots.
13:33At the end of the day, this was my task.
13:34I'm project manager, these people are working for me today.
13:36I'm not liking that right now and I don't want to waste any more time doing more shots if I want to get back to the table if we're not getting anywhere, yeah?
13:41Yeah.
13:42So just...
13:43Down low.
13:44Down low, yeah?
13:45So we get everything in.
13:46If Bianca does continue to try and take over, I'll put her in a place, no problem.
13:50Keep taking me low, snap him off, snap him off, that's it.
13:52Yeah, that's it.
13:53At least I want winning face, winning face!
13:55Ten more like that, that's it, stay there.
13:59Sharpen up, yeah, let's have that.
14:01Dressing up their dating game.
14:03Yeah, that's fine.
14:04Mark, Lauren and Felipe.
14:07I'm almost happy.
14:08Will I get paid for these?
14:11Okay guys, this is my favourite shot, I think we've captured it perfectly.
14:14I think we've got attitude punch, there's a bit of humour in there, but it's not cheesy.
14:18Really well done guys.
14:19Well done guys.
14:20Quickest photo shoot ever.
14:22Very pleased today.
14:23Best photo I've seen and I hope the sub team are as happy as I am.
14:27I'm so not happy with that picture.
14:33Bye guys.
14:34Hey, how are you going?
14:35We're just looking at the photo and how it ties in with the actual board game and how...
14:39The game is silly, the game is, it's a comedy sketch and it needed to reflect that on the front of the box.
14:45We did the best we could with the description you gave us.
14:48Bye, bye, bye.
14:49Bye, bye, bye.
14:51We've had on a good job today under no direction and everything we have done has been thrown out the back door.
15:00It's hard to fly like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys.
15:037 o'clock.
15:07Bianca, I want to make a few things clear, yeah?
15:11Laying his cards on the table.
15:13James.
15:14Today I'm a project manager, yeah?
15:16Understood, I'm aware.
15:17And I'm leading this task.
15:18Every opportunity, there's been times today where you've been there, you've been difficult, you know...
15:23Whenever I'm having difficult.
15:24It's as if you've been very big for your boots.
15:26Just give me some examples.
15:27You sat there with smirks on your face, you pick up little things and you turn it into a problem.
15:30Give me an example.
15:31And I'm not having it.
15:32You see, it brings something to the table, I give you my opinion, I tell you what I think should happen.
15:36Let me finish.
15:37I'm not finished talking.
15:38I'm running this task.
15:39James, I am not finished talking.
15:40When I finish, when I finish, you can finish.
15:42I don't care, I'm not even having to talk with you anymore, right?
15:43I've told you what I think, right?
15:44Then leave the room.
15:45Leave the room there.
15:46But I'm not finished.
15:47I feel that our team is much better than James.
15:49I will speak when I need to speak.
15:51I'm not going to be restricted by him.
15:52At the beginning of the day, you asked me to be with you on the team because I'm organised.
15:55Do you know why I did?
15:56Because I see everything.
15:57Do you know why I did?
15:58Because I know what's happening.
15:59Do you know why I asked you to be on my team?
16:00And yet, suddenly...
16:01So I can see what you're all about.
16:02So I can see what you're all about, Bianca.
16:03James!
16:04As the saying goes, a wise man speaks because he has something to say.
16:07A fool speaks because he has to say something.
16:09I'm not saying he's a fool, but he likes speaking a lot.
16:16Central London.
16:17The kid's looking pretty happy.
16:20You're about to be hit by a taxi.
16:25While Roisin's geography game gets an identity...
16:28Giona's a good name.
16:29Giona's a really good name.
16:30I like it.
16:31Nearly there.
16:32Putting the finishing touches to their product...
16:35Yeah, perfect.
16:36Yeah.
16:37Can we go back to the boards now?
16:38Pamela, Katie and Daniel.
16:40Women would pick which pastime, writing a book, running in a park.
16:44So if I...
16:45What are they...
16:46What do you like doing?
16:47Cooking...
16:48Cooking...
16:49Eating chocolate.
16:52The last few hours have been absolutely hectic.
16:55I had to do all of the questions for this game.
16:57I mean, I don't really like the game, but I made sure it happened
17:00and now we've got an end product.
17:02Happy with F.O.?
17:03Very happy.
17:04Very happy.
17:09Designs delivered.
17:11Rules written.
17:15Manufacture of both games can begin.
17:187am.
17:19Oh, brilliant.
17:20Branded and boxed up.
17:21Thank you very much.
17:22For each team, 150 board games.
17:23Oh, my goodness, it looks amazing.
17:24That looks wicked.
17:25Women dislike which food the most.
17:27OK.
17:28Pizza, carrots, chicken salad.
17:29Putting relationship guru through its paces.
17:30It could be anything, though.
17:31Pamela's team.
17:32So I say carrots.
17:33It's the wrong answer, so you don't have the same idea.
17:34What are they looking for?
17:35It's a good idea.
17:36That's a bad idea.
17:37And it's a bad idea.
17:38I mean I'm just saying it's a bad idea.
17:39Well, a lot of people say it's a bad idea.
17:40It's a bad idea.
17:41What's the good idea?
17:42What's the good idea?
17:43Well, it's a good idea.
17:44Well, it's a bad idea.
17:45I'm not.
17:46You're a bad idea.
17:47I'm not good.
17:48I'm not good.
17:49I'm not good.
17:50I'm not good at all.
17:51Guru through its paces be anything now Pamela's team so I say currents it's the
17:57wrong answer so you don't get a move anywhere I'm a happy with all the
18:02questions in there no do I think you'll make sense from an objective point of
18:06view no what do men dislike the most vegetables waxing or crooked waxing two
18:14points will work with the product we've been given and we'll try and sell it the
18:19best we can getting to grips with his game America yeah James so on this I
18:28could have gone burger why can you can combine them so I could have gone plus
18:31dollar like that yeah yeah of course you could yeah and you could also go like
18:34speed you go your heart yeah I'm from from America
18:41no I don't think James understands the game you're seeing you know all this
18:51don't you you need to know this yeah sure say it should be interesting guys good
18:58luck Cheers armed with stock guys teams must hunt out customers on the high
19:05street we've got a board gate we'd like to come and show you see if that would be
19:08something you'd be interested in stocking in your store I fantastic and pitch to
19:15clients laid on by Lord sugar plus James does passport mean passport means you
19:21can move to any space on the board no it's a place of counter they play old
19:25place of counter but first a chance to gather feedback on their games testing
19:33Gio know at a primary school one everyone Sanjay Solomon and Bianca
19:39time aside now Sidney in Sydney they've got famous sushi comes from China the
19:54capital city's room I really like this game game itself seems pretty sexist to me
20:05reviewing relationship guru a group of gamers women like men to ask them out on a
20:13date via email text or tweet none of the amount text sorry that's the minus a point
20:24to be honest if somebody got this out of part you probably leave if we were to sum up
20:30what just happened in there guys it was largely negative they were picking up on all the points
20:35that we picked up on we knew that the concept was a bit so you know it's a bit subjective in
20:39whose opinions are they that sort of thing I mean they even went as far as say it might be sexist I put
20:45forward that we don't do this concept but you heard Pamela drive it on and forward the questions
20:52were made by me because I needed a role to play I agreed with most of the consumer testing it's what
20:56I felt when I was actually writing these questions out I actually called out three or four of the
21:01questions to say is this the kind of lines you want me to go down and she said yes do I like the
21:06questions no the Pamela like them yes okay guys and can you let me know about when to be honest it
21:13was a little bit negative it could be sexist offensive too subjective the thoughts of these guys more or
21:20as much exactly what the market research had said yesterday that was difficult they're all covering
21:27their own backsides and pulling away from the concept so that when they get into the boardroom
21:31they feel like they've got a leg to stand on North London just want to talk about pitch and pricing
21:39yeah heading for Lord Sugar's first appointment Roisin and James so we're gonna go in there in the
21:46attention to get high so we're gonna go in at 1450 test the market and and take everything on board and
21:52then weigh that up yeah toys are us with over 90 stores nationwide an order from them could turn fun
22:04and games into serious money so one member of the team has to either act or draw certain categories to
22:14get their team to guess what country they're referring to in one minute start the timer
22:19I like pizza ah la dolce vita Rome Rome Italy yes yeah yeah yeah I like the concept of the game I
22:29think it's great that it combines education and fun and gameplay from a cost point of view where would
22:34you see it we're looking for 1450 we're never 150 units it's a limited edition I could look to take
22:4125 pieces yeah the very most I can go to is 10 pounds on it could you meet us halfway as well would
22:52you take any more if it'll get me 10 pounds I'll take all the five or so yeah I'll do a deal 30 units at 10 pounds each
22:59okay thank you thank you very much I'm project managing today I've got to make decisions thank
23:07you so much I kind of knew that 1450 was too steep and they weren't gonna buy that and they they've
23:13got to make a profit as well the price of 10 pounds was in my head I've walked out of there I've done a
23:17deal for 30 units at 10 pounds so I'm quite happy with that touting the game at smaller toy shops
23:25I could take 15 of the board games and pushing hard on price so we're looking about 18 pounds a
23:30unit the rest of James's team 17 so you'd be willing to take 15 of these off our hands
23:36Sanjay how are you getting on I've managed to sell 15 units at 17 pounds a unit awesome brilliant go Sanjay
23:48well done Sanjay awesome because I tell you what we've been screwed a little bit at the toy retailer
23:52right okay for tenner each now we've made the money back on that sale so that's fantastic for the
24:03other team laid on by Lord sugar Europe's largest bookshop thank you so much for giving us the
24:12opportunity to come and introduce our amazing game the relationship guru have you not got any concerns
24:19about some of the questions being a little bit offensive there's quite a lot of stereotypes
24:23involved yeah absolutely I mean it's a quirky game it will cause laugh out loud moments and we want
24:29you to go wow what is this all about telling women how much they dislike rock and classical music as
24:35opposed to pop music might cause a little bit of constation definitely amongst our customers I
24:40think just for us it's a definite no found the questions quite offensive so they decided not to
24:54take any at all that is absolutely ridiculous horrific I am fuming I am absolutely livid I honestly thought
25:06with Daniel especially on that team being the perfect most brilliant sales I think you need to
25:14you need to change that perception we've got no sales people on that team first for project manager
25:24Pamela a chance to woo the toy retailer dating these days everything's online the way we interact the way we
25:33talk to people so what we've thought is let's take what's online back offline and have a bit more
25:37fun with it so it's a game where the interaction is very fluid it's very comical the questions are
25:43quite funny as gentlemen yourself you quite appreciate that the laughter element so who do you think the
25:48Toys R Us target market is I think you know you guys get people from all ages in here from very young
25:53up to people well in excess of my age mums and dads even a mum in here with their children they're
26:00gonna buy it take it home to their husband and say I've got a bit of fun for us to play after we put
26:04the kids down tonight I do have a concern about the kind of playability of the game I do like the
26:09fact that it's very simple this is hot right now we want to talk about relationships we want to talk
26:14about interests I would buy this from your store I think it's worth us giving a giving a bit of a punt to
26:23it could you do 50 pieces at eight pounds could I push you to the 60 at eight pounds it's worth us
26:30yeah thank you very much deal done for almost 500 pounds the toy store expressed some concerns with
26:38the game but mark talked about it not being sleazy about it being fun engaging he dealt with them
26:43really well Hampstead North London what kind of quantities were you looking to consider I would
26:51say about 15 pushing up prices James 15 it's at 20 pounds each but you could help us sell this product
26:59because it's got to be something for us basically I get it I sell it and then I have an exclusive for
27:05the area this area for hamster for hamster nw3 sure yeah we can make a call yeah all right so just
27:14just a quick one we want to give her exclusivity to nw3 okay the previous shop what postcode was
27:19that n10 super kind guys do that deal talk to you later exclivity by postcodes quite quite like I
27:26didn't think of that fantastic thank you very much 15 units flogged exclusivity for Hampstead handed over
27:34do you know meanwhile pushing the game in central London the rest of the team we've got a fantastic
27:47new product to show you today and it's called Giono and basically it's a family-based geography game it's
27:54limited edition we can actually offer you exclusivity within your borough so that obviously is a selling
27:59good point for you because you're going to be only ones that have it around here
28:04I think you've made a sale six at 16 amazing in order to do a deal a good deal James gave
28:10exclusivity to nw3 that's okay Bianca has granted the whole of Westminster exclusivity to one shop
28:20in return for an order of six boxes thank you that is silly business guys so listen when we went into
28:33that last pitch I mentioned exclusivity as a bargaining tool so as a result we can't use Westminster
28:39the borough how come you've done that I just explained that so who gave you authority to give
28:50exclusivity I'm absolutely gobsmacked I've got two appointments set up in w1 and I've been told that
28:56Bianca has offered exclusivity on six games to the area where I've got potential to sell to some of the
29:02biggest retailers in a prime location is she crazy searching for their next sale we are here today to
29:12show you the relationship Peru Pamela's team I will hand you over to mark is going to talk to you more
29:18about the concept of the game very easy you can pick it up in five minutes you'll probably appreciate
29:23that some of the board games these days you pick them up you've got to be a rocket surgeon you'll
29:28probably get a few knocks on the door I'd say saying have you got the relationship Guru because
29:32I need a good time I think this would definitely have a place ten quid twelve units well done I
29:38couldn't be happier it felt like I'm running the show I'm leading all the pictures Katie and Pamela
29:43they're my apprentices they got a lesson in selling they got a lesson in South I know without me but our
29:48team would have sold very very little today this is the kind of game that will go at the front of
29:52your till an impulse buy you know it's the kind of thing that people would play for entertainment on
29:57the night out playing catch-up we have got a limited supply left that is our only problem Daniel this
30:05game I'm not sure that we would take any of it that's really disappointing obviously we need to
30:14move on hit the streets let's go in an hour and a half 30 to the cell go 5 p.m. Westminster okay I
30:25found a way we can probably spin this exclusive exclusivity into a positive next stop for Bianca and
30:30the boys waterstones all they have to do is not stock it in Westminster yeah but their major store
30:36is that piccadilly store that's a flagship that's the flagship store should be fine hi guys we created
30:46a brand new board game it's all about geographical knowledge so I can either speak or draw clues on
30:51the country and using those I've got to get you guys to guess the country we're talking about it's a
30:55great concept I think the product is is a nice one also you want to wear we have offered exclusivity
31:00to Westminster to another store so how we want to position it for waterstones is regionally for your
31:09stores and also as online I mean we're in the largest bookshop in Europe here which would be where we
31:14would want to put it because this is the focal point for the company it's the flagship if I could
31:20lower the trade price for you to get it below obviously 18 pounds is that something you would
31:25consider so I think if we can get the cost price right it would be a much more attractive offer
31:29for us 11 pounds for trade price for 29 units of our stock okay let's do it yeah thank you Bianca's
31:40mistakes cost us hugely could have got a lot more out of that deal at the end of the day I made a
31:45sale despite the fact that Bianca held us up so much 6 p.m. any shop right now yeah any shop one
31:54hour of trading remains you've got 20 units to shift hardly any time to do it yeah it's got to keep our
32:01eyes peeled find a shop I do the picture still trying to do business in the banned borough what you're
32:10saying is we can only sell it online that's why we're doing a reduced price James no one's ever come
32:15into my store and told me where and when I can sell their product you know it's killing me it's
32:19killing me that I have to sit here and say this and it's not a decision I've made you go to 1250
32:23will risk 20 that's 21 if you want to sell 31 then you've got to do it at 10 pounds it can't do it
32:30that this really is our last chance just get one more kitchen guys the minimum I can do for five is
32:40nine pounds fifty if you take tens and they're retailing it 20 could you take 10 if we lower the
32:45price eight ten I'll do your 31 at 350 quid last off for that 1129 plus and a penny change I really
32:56really want to get rid of these to you this is absolute rock bottom price we really want to get
33:00ten eight pounds the lowest we can go really appreciate your time seven o'clock selling must
33:10cease they had seven errors trading they have sold stock worth 265 pounds how is that possible there's
33:20no excuses for that something is drastically gone wrong and my god is telling me it's it's Lauren Lauren
33:29and Dan that performance is absolutely appalling tonight takings will be totaled tomorrow in the
33:39boardroom winner takes all you can go through to the boardroom now
34:09good morning well from ball games into the boardroom I'm going to start with Nick's team summit I
34:38understand that James medical breakthrough has happened here you finally grown a pair
34:43absolutely come the project manager after you were gave me a telling off last week I it's everything
34:49you said on board and I wanted to show you the reasons why I'm here and actually have something
34:53to bring to the table so in a nutshell the idea of the game is is that the person pulls a card out in
34:59this particular case is Canada and then they hint to their partner by giving them clues by mentioning a
35:06capital city yeah or a particular song or a particular food or drawing or drawing yeah
35:11all right so you split your team up you and Bianca script you went to see a focus group that's right
35:17the reason why I sent them guys off to design was because it's week six I've got understanding of well
35:22yeah what would be nice to hear yeah is the reason I sent these people off to design is because I don't
35:27know anything about I was yeah I was just about to get an art designer yeah sure well that's I was
35:31going to say oh sure yes no what was you yeah okay so I said that for you yeah okay because you've
35:37taken a managerial position yeah and you deploy your troops I'd have been a spare part design do you
35:44mind if I can finish speaking you know perhaps the game you should have invented is charades and I
35:48wouldn't have to hear from you did I hear some silly comments at the cell Bianca made we got to
35:55this store and I as a point of negotiation said if they would take more units then we could give them
36:01exclusivity but I meant to say to the postcode unfortunately I said borough obviously I didn't
36:07mean to say borough it's going to you ain't giving it's Westminster it's the worst borough to do that to
36:11you know what you couldn't make this up in board game terms you have sold Mayfair and Park Lane for a
36:30fiver yeah how do you think James was as a project manager it was very much a dictatorship when we ever
36:36we wanted to have our opinions they weren't hurt I think I've had enough here at the moment I'm going
36:42to go over to tenacity now Pamela as the PM is that right that's right I heard that mark said I would
36:52like to give Pamela a chance so as I can see her leadership skills how about your leadership skills
36:58I haven't I haven't seen them either basically when I looked at the task I didn't feel it suited me see
37:03the thing is mark is that I'm going to go into business with one of you and I haven't seen you
37:09running anything at the moment and and the same with you Lauren you haven't put yourself forward are
37:12you being the typical safe lawyer in respect of putting myself forward for this one I didn't feel
37:19that you know I'm not a particularly creative person I didn't feel that that was my skill set it's
37:23not an excuse anyway you got made the project manager Pamela so what did you do from there on I
37:28sent Lauren Philippe and mark to do the market research the most important things he said the
37:34relationship idea they didn't like they wouldn't have played it the relationship was a very narrow
37:38market and we should have touched it at all there wasn't too much on the table so in the end I made
37:43the executive decisive decision to go with relationships all these men think women should iron smile more
37:53always be happy and the instructions of Pamela I want they wanted me to make people please this is
38:04inspired really isn't it and you couldn't make this up you really couldn't make this but it's humorous
38:09and you're laughing so oh we're cracking up here well let's go on to the retailers who went where was
38:16myself Mark and Katie that went to the major toy retailer mark does quite well at that places yeah and
38:22suddenly springs into action on day two yeah I think three of us got on board very well when we
38:27saw the product I'd say two of the members of the team didn't buy into the concept and that's really
38:32hurt us by the end of the day which were those two members I'd say Daniel and Lauren particularly just
38:38for my side of it I mean do did I like the product that was given no did the market research and the
38:43focus group say it was negative absolutely when I went to sell the product was there an ounce of
38:48negativity in the room not one not the only reason why you're saying that mark is because every single
38:58week you come in here you make your assessments and you do it very very well when you smell blood
39:02you give it a silly football analogy you know it's absolutely true and that's the reason why you're
39:06jumping on this anyway now we're gonna listen to see how we did on the numbers so Karen can you tell me
39:18what tenacity got up to well they sold 128 units and the sales were 1,101 pounds and 25 pence Nick team
39:28summit summit summit sold out and that generated sales of 2,080 pounds good came in with a good
39:42win there so from board games to the beautiful game now I've arranged for you to kick about with
39:50the legendary England goalkeeper David Seaman and let's see if you can get one past him enjoy it thank
39:57you okay James just take care as you walk out that door that your head gets through it because you've
40:02still got a tremendous amount to learn that's right okay all right I hope I'll give you some belief
40:08anyway thank you okay clearly the product was not liked by retailers was not liked by the focus group
40:27and there's a big area there we're going to sit down and go into more detail on this and then I
40:33will decide which of you will be leaving the process today okay I made one fairly major error
41:03obviously I got quite a bit of sticks for it you know you make mistakes but you learn from them I feel
41:14like people underestimate me sometimes I've led my team to a massive victory and hopefully I've
41:21showed Lord sugar and I can do it and he really believes in me now
41:25where did this go wrong guys I think the problem has come from a lot of people sitting on the fence
41:46and not going and trying to commit to an idea you chose very decisively your concept why are you
41:53talking to me like I'm stupid why are you so aggressive you've completely lost your way here
41:58yet I am aggressive hold on a second Daniel we've all lost our way who do I think deserves to go home
42:04definitely Lauren and Daniel Lauren she talks a good talk and doesn't walk a good walk Daniel is
42:10extremely difficult to work with never has anything positive to say I think the cards are the problem
42:15but I got told to write the cards take ownership you read a few out to me I said fine so so you should
42:23carry on writing them and if you did not think that those questions were not okay why did you carry
42:28on writing them I didn't write the whole concept of the whole game I said that all along I'm not gonna
42:32butter her up to try and make sure I don't come back in the boardroom this is a business process
42:37the concept was wrong Pamela has got to go yes or sugar can you send the candidates in place you can go
43:02through to the boardroom now well I think we need to clearly go over why this task of found Pamela
43:27there's no point going to a focus group if you completely ignore what they say the market
43:32research didn't say that they didn't like the concept it was that there was negativities
43:38towards it if you went down a specific route what do women find most annoying men who can't iron men
43:44who don't hang up their clothes blah blah blah blah blah blah these bad taste I mean it's not funny
43:49it's not even funny I didn't read all of them or sugar I read some of them yes but I most certainly did not
43:56sit down and read 48 of them I'm not clear actually what you personally did as being the manager there's
44:02an awful lot of people who sat on the fence that I had to try and motivate to get how many people sat
44:07on the fence who's on the fence two people sat on the fence who are those Daniel and Aaron really
44:13could you imagine you'd know me for six tasks now Lord sugar I don't sit on the fence I know you're very
44:19very quiet you didn't I was very quiet I was very quiet I thought you've just told me sugar you
44:25told me with me on day one either I can't I can't to get away I can't get away tonight this is what I
44:31have to work with it's very difficult to work with you Daniel you said I sat on the fence that must be easy
44:36for you mark and Lauren I touched on the fact that you have not put yourself forward as project managers
44:45it's all very nice if you're in a winning team and afterwards saying yes well it was a you know a lot
44:50to do with me I mean you're in a losing team it's I don't agree with this and I don't agree with that
44:55that's the feeling I'm getting here so we're doing the brainstorm I did put forward an idea for a game
45:00it was shadow me it was to do with charades in the way that they create shapes in it well why are you
45:07laughing because it's it's a constant thing that happens with Lauren she talks and talks and talks
45:12and nothing relevant or condenser concise comes out of it and have contributed very little I don't accept
45:17that at all Pamela idea did you bring to the table Pamela the minute the game came you were saying I don't
45:23like that I don't know that you don't like something and then bring nothing else to the table mark in your
45:30application you say I talk the talk walk the walk and dance the dance and all I've seen so far from
45:36you as you dodged the dodge by a waltzing bloody Matilda what I can't get my head around is why
45:42didn't you take the task Lord sugar that was a complete oversight I should have put myself forward
45:46and it won't happen again if I'm to stay in the process it hurts to be branded with the sitting back
45:50logo as I've been you know sub team leader in the last three tasks and managed my team team leader
45:56the person that comes in business as me there's no bloody sub teams no passing the buck when you
46:02come and see me as your 50% partner and things are going wrong saying it wasn't my fault I didn't
46:08like the concept no room for that sure I'd take that advice on board Lord sugar I'm a good team player
46:13and I'm a good worker and I'm a good leader and I know you like football analogies mark but a good
46:18number two doesn't always make a good number one and you're yet to prove that sure that's fine I deal
46:24with numbers Lord sugar you know you've got my sales numbers in there is there they compete with
46:28anybody yourselves number is so nothing on this task you sold nothing on a previous task I won the
46:34last task as you want it you yeah you you know there's sometimes people win because of the other
46:40members in the team do you suffer from delusions because you know I've come across people who they
46:45convince themselves on certain things I'm not accusing you of being a liar I'm accusing you of
46:51being a fantasist every time you come out and say things like this I think I'm at the funfair because
46:56all I can see is a lot of nodding heads from the other people sitting next to you last week we did
47:01have a difficult time but at the end of the day we won we won they didn't like decisions I made but I
47:06made them for the sake of me advancing in this process I'll put my neck on the line time and time
47:10again and make sure that whatever I've done wrong in the task I will learn from and I will get better
47:15okay listen Pamela which two people you're bringing back into this boardroom I'm bringing
47:25back Daniel and Lauren okay so you three go back to the house jury's out mark step outside and I'll call
47:42you back in shortly here we are six weeks into this which one is really not going to be a business
48:00partner for me Pamela she may have asserted all authority but should have made some major changes
48:07you got Daniel tries his best is enthusiastic I'm just wondering whether he's a real entrepreneur
48:14whether he is a a market trader but at least Daniel he's got some fire in his belly he'll come roaring
48:20at you to try and persuade you Lauren smart professional is she persuasive has she got a spark there hmm can
48:31you send the three of them in place no sugar will see you now Pamela yes sir sugar what have you
48:50brought Daniel back in for I feel like he hasn't pulled his weight and he's been very obstructive and
48:57destructive to the task he's been very aggressive and extremely hard to work with the reason why I've
49:02brought Lauren back was she says things like the market research said this but hasn't come back
49:07with anything else to offer it's very much sitting on the fence I don't think either way if she was on
49:12this task or not you wouldn't have known that she was here you structured the day you split us up
49:17into who was going to do the market research and then all of a sudden and then all of a sudden it's I
49:21don't really have this game I don't know hang on a minute you've not let me finish Pamela you
49:26because you're talking around in circles now and you're not making a definitive point you do this
49:30constantly there's lovely words and it's already interested listen to them I am apologize this task
49:38failed it was pure and simple it failed on two reasons first of all the product was deficient the
49:45he didn't like the concept he didn't listen to market research okay okay Daniel I've got your
49:50CV here there are no tactics needed when you are complete in the world of business these are your
49:58words absolutely I'm not retracting that statement I feel like I'm complete in what I understand in
50:03business what I mean by that is events I did put myself forward for an events task numbers don't lie
50:08Lord Chagot I won that task I put people in their roles and I won that task yeah you happen to be the
50:14project manager of that task it's like I'll give you that okay I mean Daniel you claim to have
50:20learned from every mistake you've ever made and you have no regrets well I tell you what from what
50:25I've witnessed here in the last six weeks if you've learned from every mistake you've made you must be
50:30a bleeding genius by now no like no no Lord sugar I'm gonna carry on making mistakes and carry on
50:35learning because I'm gonna non-stop put myself to the front line Daniel you don't like criticism every
50:41time I voice something to you you've always disagreed disagree with every single thing I say you know
50:48it can't be right I'm not that thick and not been in this boardroom for so many years and seen hundreds
50:53of people go through to know when I'm saying something that I might be right at least once
50:58but every time I question you on something is no I can't deal with someone who cannot take criticism or
51:04cannot admit to their own weaknesses and you my friend are deluded and you need to get out of this
51:11deluded mode someone who can claim there are no tactics needed when you are complete in the world
51:18of business but you're not complete in the world of business yes you're not complete in the world of
51:23business that is something I'm I promise you right now I will take on board every single word and you
51:29will see a complete difference I will make sure by the next boardroom that you've seen a huge difference
51:35who should get fired for this task it's two questions really there's someone because that's one question
51:40that is I just who should get fired because of this task it has to be Pamela Pamela I've looked through
51:46your resume yeah and you've actually only been in work for the year haven't you I've worked and since I'm 13
51:53or sugar I've had a part-time job two parts of it I know I'm talking about a proper job yeah in commerce
51:59in industry I haven't been in education for this long because it was something that came naturally
52:04to me I knew that if I wanted to get where I had to go in life I needed to get an education I work
52:09extremely extremely hard I know exactly who I am I can you talk well I mean I talk sense as well I don't
52:16baffle it around points when I say something it's because I've got something to say if you had to lean in
52:21one direction Pamela you brought two of them in here who do you think is the most culpable based
52:26on this specific task I would have to say Daniel Lauren who do you think should be fired from this
52:32task unfortunately it has to be Pamela and that's not a strategic move I mean I don't think I should
52:36be in here however you made those decisions I don't know why you don't think you should be in here Lauren
52:40you didn't do anything okay look I've heard enough now I've heard enough now I don't want to hear anymore
52:46I've expressed my views Lauren you're a very intelligent lady because obviously the profession
52:57you're in you can't be an idiot and I'm wondering whether you've been playing a clever game what you
53:03can I don't want to hear anymore okay Pamela there's nothing wrong in the fact that you've only been in
53:10work for a year but I've got to consider that I've got to put 250,000 pounds into a 50-50 company with
53:17somebody that's got hopefully a little bit of business acumen Daniel I never thought I would
53:27be kind of lost for words really but I'm struggling how to describe you you come out with things which
53:34you can't substantiate but on the other hand you've got a fire and enthusiasm in you which I've not
53:42seen for example from you Lauren I'm able to make one more point no no you're not interested in fact
53:52Lauren I am bitterly disappointed I don't see the entrepreneurial spirit there I don't see that
54:03spark of entrepreneurial spirit he is a loose bleeding cannon this one over here but somewhere
54:10in his lifetime he's actually sold a bit of stuff he's actually run a business is a go-getter I don't
54:17see you as a go-getter what sugar if I'm able to say what sugar I don't want to hear any more from anybody
54:28Lauren I do have a problem but I think my biggest problem is Pamela and Pamela you are the project
54:43manager here this task failed simply because the product was no good and you had control of that
54:48product on that basis Pamela you're fired thank you very much I told you when we first met that I have
55:09total flexibility in this special year of removing what I call the Deadwood thing is I don't think you're
55:21Deadwood I think you've been playing a game I'm gonna let you off Daniel this is your very last chance okay
55:34the pair of you go back to the house Lauren I think she's quite clever and I do believe she has been playing
55:52the game she plays the game any longer she'll be gone
56:09feeling gutted but I'm so proud that I've made it this far Lauren and Daniel they've played the game from day one and
56:16unfortunately they're still playing us who do you guys want I'd be surprised to see Daniel we're
56:25struggling to work with Daniel just I think he started having a few personal blows at me and I
56:31almost said the Lord sugar look you've got to fire me or him because I can't work this case or anymore
56:35he sets himself up to fall dunny you know with his mouth and things like that and then he
56:40actually believes it and it comes out anyone want my card anyway guys I'll try to tell you
56:49wow I'm not expecting to see you after that well done sorry guys but this process isn't decided how
56:55could you write questions thing the important thing is what happened in there we didn't turn on each
57:00other once again the facts came out you lay your heart on the line and if he will if he wants to
57:05potentially invest in you he's going to keep you if not you've got no leg you're going as simple as that
57:14now ten candidates remain Lord Sugar's search for his next business partner continues
57:24your next task is going to be both here in London and in New York action thanks mom big business
57:32oh my god in the big apple the world is as big as our oyster these fingers need some energy
57:39there oh sorry my heart is racing and in the boardroom dull dull dull big trouble how can you defend
57:49that advert it was rubbish you're fired
57:52oh yes don't miss the big New York special same time nine o'clock next Wednesday get yourselves over
