00:00In with the New England Patriots, Keyon White spoke to the media and was asked about Will Campbell.
00:04Here is what Keyon White had to say about the rookie left tackle.
00:08The biggest thing for Will is his willingness to learn and his ability to sometimes get beat but then not hold your head down.
00:17A lot of times when you come in as a rookie, you're going to lose reps.
00:20And everybody loses reps sometimes, but guys come in five stars, All-American, things like that, thinking that they're best in the world.
00:27And when they face adversity, sometimes they shut down.
00:30And that's something that Will doesn't do.
00:31He asks the questions.
00:33He says, OK, how can I not lose this rep?
00:35And he learns and he comes back better.
00:38OK.
00:39That's a good sign.
00:40Is that encouraging with you?
00:41That's a good sign.
00:41All right.
00:42Somebody that learns from his mistakes who's talking to those guys.
00:45And I remember when I was a rookie in the NFL, one thing I always used to do is I would, every day I would work with Roman Pfeiffer.
00:55And it was really for him to get him ready.
00:57But I was still learning from him and what causes problems.
01:00I would talk to Jumbo Elliott.
01:02How do you protect?
01:02Like, it's good to see that he's not just talking to offensive linemen, but he's talking to D-linemen.
01:09He's kind of trying to get as much knowledge as he can to help him, you know, so when he is playing, he can learn, you know, he'll be ready for a lot of those situations.
01:18A lot of gushing about your guy, Jared Wilson, Cheyenne.
01:21Oh, that guy.
01:22He might end up being better than Will Campbell.
01:25Who knows?
01:25I mean, he has earned first-team reps already.
01:28He's knocked Cole Strange well out of the starting rotation, which I kind of love.
01:32I'm happy for him.
01:33He is ridiculously athletic for an interior offensive lineman, so it felt like he could have success in the NFL.
01:40And clearly, he is working hard and making an aim for himself.
01:43Can't be better than Will Campbell, though.
01:45You cannot be.
01:45Because that is first-year as head coach, that is a giant F on your draft that your number four overall pick isn't better than what round did he get?
01:57Fourth-round pick.
01:58Like, you know, Will Campbell has to be the guy.
02:02You know what I'm saying?
02:03If he's not the guy, then it's, you know.
02:06Okay, but it's a harder position to play, right?
02:09Yeah, but when you're the fourth overall pick, same with Drake May.
02:14You have to be the guy.
02:15And if you're not—
02:16Well, if you're Drake May, you need 500 things to go right, and then you'll have 20 touchdown passes.
02:20If you're not, it's a major, major bust, and it's a major—like, you think about the criticism that we—some people have given Bill Belichick.
02:30But if you look at Bill Belichick's top 10 picks, and granted, there weren't a lot of them, but generally, they pan out, right?
02:39Not as a head coach.
02:42Gerard Mayo was a top 10 pick.
02:44No, but I'm talking as players.
02:46I know.
02:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:46You're talking about players, right?
02:48So, generally, they pan out.
02:50It's—okay, if you miss on a late-round first-round draft pick, you still get criticized.
02:55But when you're that high, you know, it has to be a home run.
