How good has Drake Maye looked in camp?? Should we be ready for a 2nd year "giant leap"?? Which WR do you believe is on the bubble? #NFL
Transcript
00:00This is Drake May making a good impression so far down at training camp.
00:03Peter Schrager talked about how great Drake May has been so far
00:08to start the off-season workouts.
00:11I hear Drake May is absolutely wonderful so far also.
00:15Again, it's early.
00:16These might not be surprises, but when you get year two leaps,
00:19it means they spent the off-season working.
00:22And they spent, this is the Pop Douglas here.
00:24I'm telling you, the juice out of Patriots camp right now
00:27about Drake May is very real.
00:29And they'll bring it down because it's back to that old-school style.
00:32It's Vrabel, it's McDaniels, it's a lot of those guys.
00:34And they're not going to pump up their quarterback.
00:36But Drake May came ready to play.
00:38Drake May came ready to work.
00:40And I would just say don't be shocked if we see a year two giant leap from Drake May.
00:45Okay, Curtis, the ten wins that you have on the table sounds doable for this football team.
00:51More than doable. It should be expected.
00:55Chimes' six are getting worse and worse.
00:56I literally never said six.
00:59Stop making this up.
01:01False narrative.
01:02False news.
01:03To be fair, you just said six.
01:05I never said they'd win six, Curtis.
01:08How many...
01:08We had the receiver discussion briefly during trending,
01:12but how many do you think they keep?
01:13Five or six.
01:14Depending on if they feel like they're going to go a little bit more receiver-heavy,
01:18they maybe keep six.
01:20But if they feel like they might be a little bit more of a too-tight-end team,
01:24then they keep five.
01:24Generally, that's what teams usually keep somewhere between five and six.
01:29I just don't know.
01:30I'm not down there enough to see how many four wide receiver sets they run.
01:33Yeah.
01:34You know, we can get deep into the weeds.
01:36Diggs.
01:37Diggs.
01:38You got Diggs.
01:38You got Pop Douglas.
01:40You got Booty.
01:41You got Kendrick Bourne.
01:42Kendrick Bourne.
01:43Kyle Williams.
01:44Kyle Williams.
01:45Baker and Polk and Hollis.
01:48And I asked Shime this during the break.
01:50Matt Hollis is on.
01:51Hollins, excuse me, is hurt.
01:53And they gave him three and a half million guaranteed money.
01:57So I wonder and I look, could he be a guy that they might say,
02:03well, you know what?
02:05These other guys are performing better.
02:07We're going to cut our losses.
02:08Because he only signed the two-year deal for $8 million.
02:11So it's not like they invested a ton of money in him.
02:13My guess, Wiggy, though, is just because he's so familiar with the McDaniels offense,
02:17having played in it before, he would stay on.
02:19They'd keep him around even if he's injured, just kind of helping the other receivers get ready
02:26and get better in this offense, is kind of my thought.
02:29And so, like, they'll keep him probably on Pup to start the season
02:32and then eventually either pull him off or cut him later midway through.
02:36But isn't that what Kendrick Bourne's for?
02:37Kendrick Bourne is super familiar with this offense.
02:40Pop Douglas is familiar with this offense.
02:42But I don't know that they want to keep Bourne.
02:43I think there's a reason they signed Matt Collins in the offseason
02:46and, you know, and Bourne is technically on the bubble.
02:50If I had to say, I would probably agree.
02:52If I had to say the three guys that I would say is safer, Diggs, Pop, and Kyle Williams
02:56because Kyle Williams is a third-round draft pick.
