00:00Gentlemen, I want a good clean fight.
00:05You received instructions in the locker room.
00:07Obey my commands at all times, defend yourself at all times.
00:09Who is the pain trying to do with that?
00:10Good clean boxing.
00:11Touch gloves.
00:13See your corners.
00:16Yair Gallardo.
00:18Nicknamed Manotas, which means big hands, according to Sergio.
00:23He'll be taking on Quentin Rankin, who's got a big amount of experience.
00:27He has 32 pro fights by far.
00:30On paper, at least, the toughest test for Gallardo's young career.
00:34He's just 22 years old.
00:36Rankin 16 years older.
00:39In fact, Gallardo was 7 years old when Rankin turned pro.
00:45Good energy here in the arena tonight as boxing returns to the Windy City.
00:51Here we go.
00:51I think for Rankin, it's going to be about surviving this first round.
00:58Hasn't been in a ring in about a year and a half.
01:00And Gallardo, once that engine gets going, it doesn't stop.
01:04Not only that, but he has five first-round knockouts and three in the second round.
01:07So the thing about Gallardo, he likes to get him out early.
01:12Rankin, the southpaw here, big puncher.
01:14Gallardo has been stopped before, but he's big.
01:17He has a nice left hand.
01:18If he can get out of the first two rounds, he can be tricky.
01:21And the only guy to go the distance with Gallardo was Kevin Johnson.
01:25I watched back that fight this morning.
01:26Johnson went all six, but he took a lot of punishment to do it.
01:31Well, Rankin has been the distance with Chad Dawson.
01:33In fact, he dropped Dawson in that fight, but that was years ago.
01:37He also fought David Murrell back in 2019.
01:40He was stopped in round number two.
01:43The inactivity that really concerns me when it comes to Rankin.
01:47He's been out of the ring 17 months and coming off a knockout loss.
01:51So I want to see how he reacts when he gets chin checked by a big puncher like Gallardo.
01:56Gallardo loves to put pressure on his opponent's good right hand and a body shot,
02:01which immediately affects Rankin.
02:07Rankin said, don't judge me by my knockouts.
02:10I feel like I've got a good chin.
02:11It's the shots I don't see that have been catching me.
02:15That's always the case in boxing.
02:16Right now, Gallardo's finding a home for his best punch.
02:19That's the right hand.
02:20He's finding it upstairs and downstairs.
02:22Rankin better be careful.
02:23Start catching and countering.
02:26You can tell Rankin trying to use movement.
02:30See that shot right there.
02:31He could have caught and countered that to the body.
02:33It was a slow shot by Gallardo.
02:35He's not the fastest puncher, so you're able to catch and counter,
02:38but that's a chance you're going to have to take if you're Rankin.
02:42You see Rankin defensively, he's in that shoulder roll.
02:46Unless you have mastered that, defense can be exploited very easily.
02:50Yeah, that shoulder roll works if you're active.
02:59We just talking about Rankin.
03:00He hasn't been the most active boxer, so you need to have that fast twitch muscle
03:05if you're going to do that shoulder roll.
03:07I highly think he shouldn't be doing that right now.
03:10Move around the ring.
03:11Get the cow webs off.
03:13Use your jab.
03:13You already felt the power.
03:15Now keep your distance.
03:1830 seconds to go here, the opening round.
03:21The body language not great from the native of Charlotte, North Carolina.
03:29Who said he broke his hand two fights ago.
03:31Says that's healed, took a year off, has rededicated himself to the craft
03:37and believes this will be his coming out party.
03:39But it's not a good start.
03:43Good body shot there from Gallardo right before he got tied up.
03:46Put that hat up.
03:47Mox.
03:49Stop.
04:01Stop moving your upper body on the outside.
04:31At more speed.
04:33You're too stiff.
04:34You're too upright.
04:39If you want to get close, you've got to separate him.
04:41You've got to push him back.
04:43Let's go.
04:50That was good advice to the corner of Gallardo between rounds.
04:53Ask him for more body shots.
04:55You see the movement early from Rankin.
04:57If you want to hit him to the body, he'll slow him down.
04:59Give Gallardo a chance to open up with the head.
05:01Not only that, Chris, but Rankin picks up his right hand when he's pulling that jab.
05:04He picks up his right elbow.
05:05Anytime that Gallardo starts trying to attempt to throw a combination,
05:09notice how the right elbow picks up.
05:11The body's there.
05:14Well, Rankin has never won a fight that's gone beyond six rounds,
05:18and yet you've got to believe his best path to victory is on points.
05:22Gallardo's really good at cutting off that ring, even against the southpaw moving to his left.
05:29Look, right there, Gallardo trapped the right foot of Rankin to keep him from moving to his right.
05:36Really clever, Gallardo, cutting off the ring and stopping the exits of the southpaw.
05:41The biggest name on the resume of Gallardo is Bredis Prescott, a fighter he knocked out 96 seconds in his second-ever fight.
05:57Good uppercut there for the Mexican.
05:59Rankin, but again.
06:06Gallardo turning southpaw right there.
06:08Lefty versus lefty now trying to give Rankin a different look.
06:11Well, Rankin looks to be in fantastic physical shape.
06:25Every body shot there by Gallardo.
06:27He's just not doing enough offensively, is he?
06:30Not yet.
06:31But he got out of the first round.
06:33We talked about Gallardo being a fighter that takes you out in two rounds or less.
06:38So this is a nervous energy that Rankin needs to get out of.
06:42One thing I've noticed about Gallardo watching the film that's out there,
06:45doing the six rounds against Kevin Joff, he does tend to smother his punches a little bit.
06:50You see in this fight with Rankin, Rankin's trying to keep it close.
06:54Gallardo needs to get a little bit of separation so he can create some action there.
06:57In order to do that, you need a jab.
06:59Gallardo's not much of a jabber.
07:00He likes to break the distance with hard shots.
07:03He doesn't set up his power.
07:05See right there, he's not jabbing his way in.
07:07He's not trying to break that distance to jabs.
07:10He just does it with upper body movement and power once he's on the inside.
07:14Scoring left hand was there for Rankin, but now Gallardo has it pinned up in the corner again.
07:20Rankin had hit a big left uppercut.
07:23Gallardo took that well, as you expect from Mexican fighters.
07:29Let's sit on the tail of the tape, Chris, and Rankin had an 8-inch reach advantage,
07:33but it doesn't look like it.
07:34And if he does, he's certainly not using it.
07:36Well, he's not trying to overextend his shots because he knows what that leaves open,
07:41those body shots.
07:43I wouldn't have got to hurt him.
07:49Yeah, just some throwaway punches for Rankin at the end of the second round.
08:45If you're going to do that shoulder roll, you've got to catch and counter.
08:48You've got to try to take the power away from the offensive fighter
08:52and come back with something.
08:53I don't think Rankin is that sharp to do that.
08:56Not yet, at least.
08:59Yair Gallardo and his second scheduled eight-rounder.
09:04He's only fought past the second round once.
09:08If Rankin can keep this distance from him,
09:14and he landed a really good left uppercut in the last round,
09:17and he already got out of the first two rounds where Gallardo's really dangerous.
09:22So this is where he can start using that jab, using the ring,
09:25and get Gallardo a little uncomfortable.
09:27But you've got to stay off the ropes the entire time.
09:28Excuse me, I misspoke.
09:30He's only been past the second round once.
09:32We're now in the third.
09:35He didn't go the distance that six-rounder with Kevin Johnson.
09:39That's back in 2023.
09:40Since then, four straight KOs.
09:43Good shot there, but Rankin took that nice.
09:50He might be buzzed right now, but he took that shot nice.
09:55Still, Rankin just doesn't seem to want to sit down on his punches.
09:58He's just so afraid of what's going to come back.
10:00Yeah, Rankin's fight is on the outside, using those pivots.
10:04Oh, boy.
10:05You couldn't hear that one.
10:06You know, Gallardo would just jab his way in more than he's doing right now to your earlier point, Sergio.
10:19He's just looking to load up for that one big shot.
10:21He's landing a bunch of them, but I think he'd be able to create more opportunities
10:25if he just let his hands go with a few of those throwaway punches.
10:28That's the thing about power punchers, man, is sometimes they collect the jab.
10:31They want their entity to get the big power shots in,
10:34but the more you start fighting veterans, and Rankin is a veteran.
10:36Over 35, you've got to break them down with jabs.
10:39You've got to give them something to think about, not just power.
10:42And they're not.
10:43Rankin's sitting down on some punches, trying to get the respect.
10:46Rankin's landing some shots.
10:48I mean, he's not winning rounds, but he's landing some shots that Gallardo has to be feeling.
10:56This 22-year-old really hasn't had to face any adversity.
10:59Rankin would love to force him to do so.
11:01Rankin says he's more rounded than him, more experienced, and believes Gallardo is just a brawler.
11:12I mean, he might be right about that.
11:15I mean, Gallardo, for all of his strength, is not really showing the kind of skill set you need to compete in a championship level.
11:22Look at a long way to go.
11:28The thing about Gallardo is not just a brawler like Rankin called him.
11:31I mean, he had over 100 amateur fights.
11:33He was a three-time national champion, Pan Am gold medalist.
11:37So he's more than just a fighting fighter coming forward.
11:41But right now, he needs to start showing that he has more tools in his toolbox,
11:44using that jab and trying to stop the movement of Rankin.
11:47Took a good shot there for Rankin a moment ago.
11:49Left hand straight down the middle.
11:51Much better round for Rankin, but not sure he won it.
11:54You've got to make sure you turn him on in exchanges, all right?
12:11You're doing great on the jab.
12:13Get ready for pure chaos right now as the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship returns to South Dakota
12:19with Gogo Slavski taking on Julian Lane and the two knockout artists.
12:24Square off, no gloves, all violence live on DAZN tonight.
12:33There's that pawing jab by Rankin.
12:35Trying to catch encounter, but right there, he didn't catch nothing.
12:37Straight right hand by Gallardo, landing cleanly.
12:40But the veteran took it well.
12:42You know, for a Mexican, that punch is really hard.
12:43He's landed some good shots.
12:45Rankin has took him and absorbed him pretty good.
12:49All right, round four.
12:57That's Eric Gallardo telling us earlier this week.
13:00He said, you know, I'd love to keep my knockout streak going, but we're prepared to go all eight.
13:05And it might actually be more beneficial for me if I do get eight full rounds in.
13:09I'm still trying to learn all I can.
13:11Good shot by Rankin right down the middle.
13:13See, that's what you do with guys that square up like this.
13:15Because Gallardo squares up.
13:17You know, you've got to just gut them to the midsection with either jabs or straight left hands from that southpaw stance.
13:25Stop.
13:26Take a step back.
13:27See, there it was again, Sergio.
13:28Gallardo looking for that right hand, but just smothered his shot.
13:31Got too close to Rankin.
13:33Took all the punch off him.
13:34Yep, because he's not jabbing his way in.
13:36He's not pawing his way in.
13:37You've got to use that as a measuring stick.
13:38There's the jab.
13:39Double it.
13:40You can alternate it from the chin to the chest.
13:43That's how you come into that with that right hand.
13:46You just don't go looking for the big shots.
13:48Rankin's a little bit too smart for that.
13:49Look, too much of a veteran.
13:50It's good work inside there on the body by Garrett.
13:53When he gets in tight, forget the head shots, dig to the body.
13:56There you go.
13:57That's what we're going to do.
13:58Big left.
13:59And Rankin sprawled backwards against the ropes, but it may have looked worse than it was.
14:05It was a left-hand little body that kept Rankin moving to the right.
14:08That's why, that's why Gallardo landed that left upper foot down the middle.
14:14And notice how he keeps putting his left foot, Gallardo, on the outside of the right foot of Rankin to keep him from going to his right.
14:21Gallardo doing a good job there of not smothering his punches.
14:24You can see he's staying at a good distance.
14:29Gallardo's doing a good job with his bottom half, with his feet.
14:33Anytime he's on the inside, he always puts his left foot on the outside of Rankin and keeps him from moving to his right.
14:39And those hooks are starting to break the guard down of Rankin.
14:43These are heavy shots.
14:44You can hear how heavy the hands are of Gallardo.
14:47There's some counter shots to be thrown if Rankin has the guts to do it, but he knows what's coming back.
14:54Yeah, by opening up, trying to land a shot, he's going to open up the defense.
14:59And I think Rankin is not really...
15:00He's feeling the heavy hands of Manotos right now.
15:04The heavy hands of the man nicknamed Big Hands.
15:10Now Rankin's tough, but the referee is not just going to let Gallardo this tee off on it like this.
15:15Yeah, I think the fight's gone from Rankin, man.
15:17I don't see no catching in Connery, no movement.
15:20I think the power's real.
15:22The power's real of Gallardo.
15:25Yeah, the referee getting closer and closer.
15:28There hasn't been a huge Pez dispenser shot where Rankin's head snaps back, but it's just an accumulation of blows now.
15:36No snap in the punches of Rankin, no confidence.
15:41Good body shot there by Rankin, but not enough.
15:44The body language is fading.
15:45I don't like the body language of Rankin right now.
15:50There's a nice left uppercut.
15:53Good end of the round there for Rankin, but it looks like he was almost done.
15:56Yeah, you can see right here, he's trying to do the shoulder roll as Rankin, but that's a clean uppercut.
16:15Didn't land perfect there, but it still did the damage.
16:18And you can see that Rankin is respecting the power of Gallardo.
16:23Sneaky little body shot there by Rankin on the inside, but it was too far in between.
16:26That shoulder roll can get you in trouble if you're not perfecting it.
16:33And Rankin's putting himself in danger trying to do that right now.
16:36Gallardo's going to punch anything that's given to him, and right now that's everything.
16:44The left hand downstairs, double it up.
16:50Yair Gallardo's manager is none other than Miguel Cotto, who co-promotes him.
16:56He told us that the advice that Cotto told him was, listen, all fights are won in the gym.
17:01They're won before you step into the ring.
17:04Work hard.
17:04Stay disciplined.
17:05It's going to be a important round for Quentin Rankin, in my opinion, because he looked exhausted at the end of that last fourth round.
17:19And he still has some rounds left.
17:21So, if he's going to try to win, this is a round that he wants to actually get some more respect out of Gallardo.
17:28Or if Gallardo breaks that distance, keeps digging that body, Rankin might find a way out since he's looking petite.
17:35Rankin, right now, finally throwing some jabs.
17:38Using that length advantage he has, straight left.
17:42That was a slow, straight left that still landed because Gallardo doesn't move his upper body.
17:48Flat feet and upper body, there's no movement.
17:51Or maybe he just doesn't respect the power.
17:53That's more what I think at this point, Gallardo is just looking to get on the inside to throw combinations.
17:58He's willing to take a shot from Rankin.
18:00I think that could also be the case.
18:02I like that right hand, right down the chest.
18:05By Gallardo, keep...
18:06You've got to keep Rankin from moving to the left to the right.
18:08Just go down the middle.
18:13And you saw there, Rankin tried to punch with Gallardo.
18:16Stop!
18:17Take a step back.
18:18Which is a bit of a change of strategy instead of constantly relying on that shoulder roll.
18:25I'd like to see Gallardo go back down to the body.
18:27That's where he had success in the last couple of rounds.
18:29Watch the push, guys.
18:30I'm going to try to reset.
18:43There's some good movement from Quentin Rankin.
18:48Nice three-punch combination that I said by Gallardo finally with a jab.
18:53Believe it or not, the lack of jab is what's causing Gallardo to not land the combination
18:59because he's not throwing the right punches to go into the front door.
19:03He's looking for the big shots.
19:04And Rankin is a little bit savvy enough to not get hit with the biggest shots when he's rolling.
19:09But a jab could stop that.
19:12A jab to the chest.
19:13Double and triple in that jab.
19:17Especially when you have a fatigue fighter in front of you that find the best of shape,
19:21you just bust him up.
19:23You take the confidence away from him with a ramrod jab.
19:28See right here, this is what I mean.
19:30The yarder should be jabbing his way in.
19:36Maybe the best round of the fight for Quentin Rankin.
19:38Just as I say that, he gets clipped.
19:43Coming up next, it's Joshua Edwards.
20:10There's a lot of hype around this heavyweight who brings in a 3-0 record with three KOs.
20:14Yeah, former U.S. Olympian just getting started in his professional career.
20:18Look, he's a heavyweight from America with power.
20:22There's not a lot of those guys out there right now.
20:24You look at the top ten in the heavyweight division.
20:26It's all guys over 30.
20:27Joshua Edwards, 25 years old.
20:30You know, Golden Boy has been talking about putting him on a bit of a fast track,
20:33getting him up to eight, ten-round fights as early as next year.
20:37A lot to get excited about with this young man.
20:40He'll be taking on Cayman Audi from Hinkley, Minnesota.
20:46Who says, I'm just here to brawl.
20:48I'm going to be honest with you.
20:48I hope Edwards stands there and exchanges with me.
20:51He was an honest interview.
20:54Yeah.
20:54He said they called him and said, do you want to fight this guy?
20:57His manager called him, and he said, hell yeah, I'll take it.
20:59And then he said he woke up the next day because he'd been drinking too much
21:02and didn't even remember the phone call.
21:04His manager said, you've got to get to the gym.
21:06We just accepted a fight.
21:08Hey, guys like that, I've seen a few of them.
21:11This kid's kid, he's got some pop behind that left hook.
21:15Should be a fun fight.
21:16That's coming up next to the heavyweight division.
21:18Right now, let's see if Gair Gallardo can continue his knockout streak.
21:23We're in round six of eight.
21:33Oh, and that body shot.
21:36He hadn't thrown a ton of them, but that left to the ribcage did the trick.
21:40That's the shot that his corner has been pleading for.
21:45Rankin's not the shot that's going to finish the fight.
21:48And did he make it up in time?
21:49He did.
21:50But is he just delaying the inevitable?
21:54Judging by the body language from the last two rounds, I didn't think he was going to get up.
21:58And now, Gairdo, he's got that look in his eye.
22:05Gairdo, you keep looking for that same spot.
22:09An apex predator has wounded prey in front of him.
22:13Rankin keeps giving him that side of the body.
22:17You would think they're going to move and try to shake off the pain of that body shot.
22:22Boy, you saw the ropes there.
22:28The referees are getting a good look at Rankin, who needs to get some respect here to back Gairdo off.
22:33Whoa, a nice angle there by Gairdo.
22:36I didn't think he had that in his arsenal.
22:38Quick feet.
22:39But angles is what you need against Southcalls.
22:42You've got to stay in front of him.
22:44You've got to try to get the flank of him either left or the right.
22:47I didn't think Gairdo had that in his arsenal.
22:49And there it is again.
22:52I'm not sure Rankin's thrown a punch since he went down.
22:55He doesn't want to open up to risk any hit again to the body.
23:00Sergio, Gairdo's out there still looking for that one big shot to finish it off.
23:04When you have a guy hurt like that and the referee is saying,
23:06you've got to show me something, just let your hands go, man.
23:08You've got him backed up against the rope, it's just flurried.
23:11I get you.
23:11You've just got to flurry.
23:12But if you don't practice that in the gym and then sparring,
23:14you're not going to do it with the lights around.
23:17And aside from that, Gairdo doesn't look like a flurrying type.
23:20He does not.
23:21He does not.
23:22He's given Rankin time to recover.
23:33He keeps coming off with that shot to the body.
23:36The stabbing little shot to the midsection.
23:39But that's just enough to keep Rankin off.
23:42The auto off, excuse me.
23:43Hey, kudos to Quentin Rankin for getting up off the canvas.
23:46He looked like he was done.
23:48But he looks now like he's going to make it to the end of the round.
23:51He looked like he was in pain, took the entire nine count before he got up.
24:04Hand me that water.
24:05Hand me that water.
24:07In the mouth, please.
24:08And you can see the right elbow popping up, giving an opening right there for Gallardo.
24:18He took advantage of it right in the ribs.
24:22Those shots right there normally keep you down.
24:24So, yes, we've got to give Rankin credit for getting up in the shot.
24:27That was a big punch by a big puncher in Gallardo.
24:31Not only was he down on 1-E, but he turned his back to an opponent as well.
24:37The body language was not there.
24:39Credit to Rankin for getting up.
24:40Body one, get one up top, then we're picking for a walk.
24:43I need you to stay in the fight.
24:44Keep your head up.
24:45He's got to die.
24:46He's got to die.
24:47Let's go, let's go.
24:52Rankin told us that Gallardo is not going to be used to the resistance I'm going to give him.
24:57And he's put up a pretty good amount of resistance.
25:00But is it almost over?
25:03We're in round seven, scheduled for eight.
25:05You know Gallardo is going to want to get him out of there.
25:08Looking for his fifth straight KO.
25:19Gallardo's best punch is a straight right hand.
25:21If you're not going to jab, you would think that you're going to throw that straight right hand against a southpaw.
25:26But Gallardo doesn't do that.
25:28He just plods his way in.
25:30Until he's close enough to start digging away and punching anything that Rankin gives him.
25:39The more competition that Gallardo has, the more issues and problems he's going to face cutting off the ring and tracking down guys that can actually move with quick feet.
25:50You need a jab in this business, man.
25:53Even as a light heavyweight, when punches are involved, you've got to track him down with a smart jab.
25:57See right here, you're posturing.
25:59Gallardo's not jabbing.
26:00You wonder if he's a bit winded after throwing so many power shots to get Rankin out of it.
26:07No, he's not winded because he wasn't doing it from the first round.
26:09So, it's just, it's something that he's lacking, Gallardo.
26:14He's such a big puncher.
26:15He knocks out everyone they put in front of him that he hasn't really had to learn how to break guys down the right way.
26:21Now, Rankin has Gallardo against the ropes.
26:25Very few times in spite.
26:27What can he do with it?
26:29Nothing.
26:37The corner of Rankin saying, you've got to hurt him.
26:42And they're right.
26:43It'll be, it'll be a good look for Rankin if he can go the distance here after that big body shot.
26:52And the fact that he looked fatigued.
26:56And it'll be a bad look for Gallardo to have someone that hurt, you know, letting him cross the finish line.
27:02Yeah, these are the kind of fights that educate us on where a young prospect is at this stage.
27:10And while there are some impressive traits in Gallardo, you see a lot of holes that are going to keep him from becoming a championship boxer.
27:20I agree 100% of studying Gallardo.
27:22I saw that, but now I'm seeing it up close and personal.
27:25And yes, he has a lot of holes and a lot of things to do.
27:27But Sergio, can those holes be fixed at the age of 22?
27:30Plenty of time to work on.
27:31Yeah, of course he can be fixed.
27:33He's young, you know, he has power.
27:34But now you have to concentrate on more than power.
27:38He has pretty decent feet.
27:39I mean, they're educated feet, so you've got to work on footwork, work on your foundation.
27:44And, of course, you've got to work on that jab.
27:45You've got to pop that jab out there.
27:47Work on speed.
27:48You were born and blessed with power.
27:50Now you've got to fix the other things that will make you a complete fighter.
27:54Nice counter right hand there from Quentin Rankin.
27:59A ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
28:01You're not doing what we want from you.
28:13You lost that round.
28:14You're not doing what we want from you.
28:17You lost that round.
28:18You're not doing what we want from you.
28:19You're going to come aggressive now.
28:20You're going to come aggressive now.
28:20You're going to come aggressive now.
28:24Give me some water.
28:27Put some water on him.
28:35Hey, you're going to give me that six right to him.
28:38I can throw that shit, dude.
28:40He's a knockout, dude.
28:42Here we go.
28:42I think I don't try to be nice.
28:43Last round.
28:44Fuck him up, man.
28:45Put it all on the line.
28:46Second's off, coaches.
28:47Let's go.
28:48Let's go.
28:48Let's go.
28:48Here we go, ladies and gentlemen.
28:50All right, three minutes left.
28:58Let's see how aggressive Gallardo goes looking for the knockout.
29:03And can Rankin, who's had moments of success, let it all hang out here?
29:07I'm surprised Rankin met him in the middle of the ring and start exchanging with him.
29:10He got this far, and they're still going mano on mano with Gallardo instead of trying to box.
29:15Well, he said he's here to win, and he's not going to win if this goes to distance
29:18as blood splatters all over our sheets here ringside.
29:22But Rankin has come to life.
29:26Got to love it.
29:34Dired of continuing to headhunt in this fight.
29:37His core has been pleading with him every single round.
29:39Go back to the body.
29:40Go back to the body.
29:41He's not been listening to them.
29:42He keeps going upstairs.
29:44Look at that one knockout shot.
29:45And it's Rankin that's going to the body.
29:49He keeps throwing that straight left right to the midsection of Gallardo.
29:53And he's been taking it well, but you can see that it's having an effect.
29:57That's the best punch that Rankin's been landing on the inside.
29:59It's a spearing left hand right to the breath basket.
30:04Gallardo loves throwing those uppercuts.
30:06And he hates throwing jabs.
30:11That's the thing lacking here.
30:13He hasn't been able to really track down the tricky veteran in Rankin
30:18by busting him up with a jab.
30:23A minute and a half to go.
30:24Does Rankin have another final salvo?
30:27Or is Gallardo just going to close the show here?
30:31He's got his forehead against Rankin's.
30:38And to be fair, not much clinching in this fight.
30:41It's been a clean battle.
30:50Rankin hoping he can land that one big shot.
30:54To test the shit of Gallardo.
30:56Rankin doing a good job coming forward.
31:05You know, aggressive power punchers hate to be moving back.
31:07They're not accustomed to it.
31:10It will serve Rankin right to clinch and walk back Gallardo.
31:14He has heavy feet.
31:15He's tired.
31:16They're both tired.
31:17Clinch him.
31:17Walk him back.
31:18And you can kill the rest of this 30-plus minute,
31:2130-plus seconds of this round and last the distance.
31:23Something I didn't think Quinton Rankin was going to do
31:27after that body shot.
31:30Good left hook upstairs.
31:32Rankin's hurt.
31:34Gallardo caught him with a left hook upstairs.
31:36He's rocked.
31:3915 seconds to go.
31:42Rankin can see the finish line.
31:45Pass back this guy.
31:48Bad technique.
31:50Exhausted.
31:51Hurt.
31:51Dropped in the last round.
31:53Credit to Quinton Rankin for going the distance with a power punch in Mexican like this.
31:58Indeed.
31:59As I hear Gallardo's four-fight knockout streak will end,
32:03but he will move to 10-0.
32:06But a good effort from Quinton Rankin.
32:08And, hey, Sergio, a good learning experience for Gallardo.
32:11He knows now a lot of things he needs to go to the gym and work on.
32:14Yep.
32:15Upper body movement, jabbing, foot feints, a lot to work there.
32:19The power's not going to be enough the higher you climb in this sport.
32:23And you've got blood all over your suit.
32:24That's the first time I got blood splattered on my face.
32:27We're going to have to take you back to Kmart and see if they'll do an exchange for you.
32:31Hugo Boss, my friend.
32:32Hugo Boss.
32:33Well, Puerto Rican contender Yankee Riviera was set to face Venezuela's Angelo Cordova
32:43as the pair of unbeaten flyweights will vie for the interim WBA title
32:46atop an August 23rd most valuable promotion show from Karib Royale in Orlando, Florida, live on DAZN.
32:54You have great memories of Karib Royale, don't you?
32:59Remember the ups and downs.
33:01Ups and downs.
33:03Chris, did you give any rounds to Quinton Rankin?
33:05I didn't.
33:07I just thought the power shots were just overwhelming in favor of Yair.
33:14I give Rankin a lot of credit for hanging in there and doing what he had to do,
33:18but you see the way Yair moves forward, the way that he does, the power shots he's landing,
33:24just much more heavier, much more significant.
33:27Definitely a learning experience, but I thought he won a clean decision.
33:30Yeah, but he got hit with some clean shots.
33:33He got busted up in the nose with that straight left hand.
33:35He wasn't jabbing enough.
33:36Learning experience, got the job done, but did not get the knockout.
33:44So the native of Mexico with those big hands moves up on the experience chart, so to speak,
33:55and has a decent name on his record, the nickname Manotas.
34:01Let's go to Joe Martinez, who has the decision.
34:09Well, ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds of action,
34:11shall we go to the judges' scorecards, and here are the totals.
34:15Judge Cassandra Lewis scores at 80-71.
34:19Mike Fitzgerald and Nathan Palmer both see it, 79-72.
34:24All three for your winner by unanimous decision,
34:28here is still undefeated,
34:31Javier Manotas Gallardo.
34:38So two judges gave Quentin a round.
34:42But that was it.
34:44What grade would you give this 22-year-old, Chris?
34:47About a B-minus for that performance.
34:49Again, I think if he and his team are smart,
34:53they'll get back into the lab.
