00:00Ever since the release of Jaws, sharks have been among the most feared animals on the planet.
00:0950 years on, a team of celebrities are in the Bahamas on a mission to change that perception.
00:18Don't be afraid of seeing a shark, be afraid of an ocean without them.
00:23These people are new, they don't really know what they're doing, and could panic.
00:30Now we're getting up to animals that are double our own size.
00:36That is a big shark.
00:39These animals are critically in danger across the world.
00:44Oh my god!
00:48They need to prove to us that they're responsible enough and safe enough
00:52to do this on their own.
00:54I just hate being underwater.
00:57I remember when I was very young, going underwater, looking up,
01:01and foam mats had been chucked on top of where I was sort of coming up.
01:07I couldn't get out.
01:18There's a storm coming in.
01:20Coming up on the reef!
01:21It's getting quite scary, actually.
01:25It's like a tornado of sharks down here.
01:28Oh, they're coming in fast.
01:29Oh, Christ.
01:30Oh, shit.
01:32Where's Rachel going?
01:34If you can't dive well around a wreck, then you should not be diving with tiger sharks.
01:40We had to make a decision.
01:41We're going to end up doing a night dive.
01:46Stop! Stop!
01:48My mask!
01:50What the hell is that?
01:52Oh, no!
01:53I'm really parking.
01:54I want to come out.
01:55Don't you feel as though, like, the group is getting stronger, and there's a real sort of, like, team feeling at the moment?
02:14Yeah, definitely.
02:15It's amazing how quickly everyone's got to know each other and support each other because some of it is very scary and daunting.
02:21I feel so much more confident than I first did, but it's not a comfortable place for me to be in the water.
02:28And I want to get to the point where I am really relaxed and I can just enjoy the experience because these are things that I will never do again in my life.
02:35And I want to really enjoy them.
02:37Where do you think the root of the fear of water comes from?
02:41My mum was always very cautious with us as kids in the water.
02:45It's something to be scared of, not to enjoy.
02:49And I think you particularly have such a love for the ocean that it makes me want to get there.
02:56It's given me something to work towards because I want to get to the point that you're at.
03:06Cool.
03:09Hey.
03:11Wait, wait, wait, wait.
03:13Oh, we're there, we're there, we're there.
03:15Nice.
03:17We're up.
03:18I love this.
03:20Well, first of all, team, you have all done brilliantly.
03:24What you've experienced, we hope that you take it into your heart and your mind forever,
03:28and that you consider becoming an ambassador for the ocean and everything that lives in it, including sharks.
03:33That's our hope for you.
03:35When you're underwater, it's just this kaleidoscope of loveliness.
03:39And within it, you've got this apex predator.
03:42I came into this ignorant.
03:45Now I see the light.
03:47I see the shark light.
03:50But there is still work to do, everyone.
03:54We are only a few days out from potentially diving with arguably the second baddest shark on the planet, the tiger shark.
04:03To witness these sharks in their natural environment is such a privilege.
04:08But I did 200 dives before I got to dive with tiger sharks, and you guys are being fast tracked.
04:16We think you can do it, but there's a lot more skills to learn.
04:18So next up is going to be a wreck dive.
04:24Oh, wow.
04:26Oh, wow.
04:27A wreck dive.
04:28Very cool.
04:29You're going to have to be swimming through that structure.
04:31You've got to learn buoyancy.
04:32It's going to be another challenge.
04:34How long has the wreck been down there?
04:36A hundred years.
04:38It's going to be a new experience.
04:39It's another level.
04:40It's another skill.
04:42It's going to test you.
04:43And again, it's building that comfortability underwater.
04:46And the more experience you have, the better it's going to be moving towards a more advanced dive, which is with the tiger shark.
04:53What sharks traditionally like shipwrecks?
04:55Well, there's a few species like shipwrecks.
04:57But I've done plenty of wreck dives where I haven't seen big sharks.
05:01But we could have a lovely shark visitor.
05:03We're going to be challenged today.
05:08Wreck dive.
05:09Difficult.
05:10New kit.
05:11Difficult.
05:12Loads of sharks swimming around us.
05:13I think this could be the most challenging thing because it's not just go down and observe.
05:17This is go down and scuba.
05:20Seeing sharks firsthand every single day has unlocked something in my brain.
05:26I don't think I realized I had.
05:28There's like four, five underneath this.
05:31I've been through mental challenges.
05:34It could just be in a really horrible place.
05:37And you'd think hanging out with an apex predator wouldn't be good for your mental health.
05:43But, oh my God, it is.
05:46I feel like I'm going to cry.
05:52We've just got our paddy certificates.
05:55You got your paddy certificates.
05:56I want to know, how are you now suddenly excited about all of this stuff?
06:00Having been petrified because I still have some residual nervousness.
06:05For me, the emphasis is on the shipwreck and the historical parts.
06:09So I'm not really thinking about death by shark.
06:11I'm thinking about, you know, if we might see some, you know, furniture that's been down there for a hundred years.
06:17Parking the sharks.
06:18Parking the sharks.
06:19Park the sharks.
06:20Parking the sharks.
06:21I'm thinking about furniture.
06:22Focus on the furniture.
06:23Okay.
06:26A few miles south of Bimini is a diver's paradise.
06:29Welcome, everyone.
06:38This is the SS Sapona.
06:41It was sold to a rum runner back in the early 1920s.
06:44And then in 1926, it run aground during a big hurricane.
06:49And then it kind of developed into this crazy casino.
06:53There are stories of Al Capone coming here and having nights out.
06:56Imagine boogieing out here on night out.
06:59And it's then transformed into this artificial reef.
07:04This dive is essential for us to assess how well you're doing with diving so that you can go diving with the tigers.
07:12You're going to be going through the wreck.
07:16So it's going to be a real test of your buoyancy to see how those skills are sharpening up.
07:21Are we going down a rope?
07:22There is no rope.
07:23There's no rope.
07:24So this is a free swim.
07:25This is the first free swim.
07:26Yes.
07:27Yes.
07:28So make sure to stick together.
07:30When diving with tiger sharks, they must be in control of their buoyancy so that they can stay still and calm.
07:37Otherwise, the tigers might perceive their behavior as something to investigate.
07:46I'm really excited about this shipwreck dive.
07:50We've built up to this.
07:52We've put ourselves through challenges that do test how we react under pressure.
07:56how we react when something goes wrong.
07:59So I'm so glad I got the opportunity to try something completely new.
08:04Proper skill dives.
08:06So warned about our skills.
08:09Well, we're all fucked then, aren't we?
08:11To me, this is actually a really important dive for the team.
08:18Experiencing different currents, buoyancy, and testing those skills will allow them to get to the next level.
08:25For today's dive, everyone is using their full face masks.
08:31Make sure it's level under your chin.
08:33Maintaining a watertight seal around the face is crucial to allow the celebrities to breathe and communicate effectively underwater.
08:41The first to undertake this highly technical dive with Tristan and take them one step closer to diving with tiger sharks are Addy, Ross, Lucy, and Lenny.
08:54Yes, Lenny.
08:55Yes, Lenny.
08:56Yes, Lenny.
08:57Yes, my man.
08:58I'm really proud of myself because I just wouldn't have dreamt of doing this wreck dive a month ago.
09:03And to me now, it's technical prowess.
09:05It's making sure that I achieve neutral buoyancy because it will make me feel happier once I'm down there.
09:10All right, there are cops.
09:20As far as I'm concerned, if you can't dive well around a wreck, then you should not be diving with tiger sharks.
09:27You good?
09:28OK.
09:29I can't even see the wreck.
09:39There is absolutely no visibility.
09:43OK.
09:44Everyone's looking good.
09:45Heading over to the wreck.
09:47The first team is underwater and they're basically going to enter the ship on the port side where there's lots of wide openings.
09:54Most of the team have only just passed their basic dive training.
09:58One of the biggest technical challenges they face to date is squeezing in between the jagged columns without snagging any of their gear.
10:05I could just make out the wreck in front of me.
10:11And it's kind of creepy.
10:14This wreck is in shallow water.
10:16It's less than 25 feet.
10:17So that means that they're going to have a hard time with their buoyancy because it's so easy to just shoot up because you're so shallow.
10:23We're going to turn my buoyancy.
10:26Uh-oh.
10:27I put too much in.
10:28Oh, God.
10:29Come down a little bit.
10:31Get down low.
10:32I need to get down low.
10:35Here we go.
10:36Oh, my goodness.
10:38Lovely job, Lucy.
10:40Really good.
10:41Ross is up next.
10:43Just trying to get the buoyancy.
10:46With all the scuba gear, I like that because it's, you know, it's like flying a jetpack.
10:52You've got your accelerator and the brake for up and down.
10:56Just when you think you've got it, you go, oh, I'm flowing up too much.
11:00Here we go.
11:02It's that scale of trying to get the balance right.
11:09There's a lot going on with all that scuba stuff.
11:12Am I going up too much?
11:15Right, Joe.
11:16I think he's got it.
11:20Lenny's a bit at the surface.
11:22Try and come down.
11:24I'm going through the first door now.
11:28Whoa!
11:29This is a difficult bit.
11:31Great job, Lenny.
11:33Straight through.
11:34That was crazy.
11:37Addy is using his motorized scooter to help him through the shipwreck.
11:42This is pretty technical, controlling the scooter.
11:46It's so odd to be in such shallow water.
11:48This is one of the most technical dives I've ever done.
11:51That's it.
11:52Perfect, Addy.
11:53Well done.
11:56This is the engine room.
11:57Look at the size of it.
11:59Wow.
12:00This is proper adventure stuff, this.
12:08Down here, there's a massive rain.
12:12It's just lying there covered in sand.
12:17Wow.
12:20This is everything you could possibly want from a diving experience.
12:24We're in a shipwreck.
12:26Absolutely brilliant.
12:30The shipwrecks like these create an important habitat for a diverse range of marine life.
12:40Oh, my goodness.
12:41Oh, my goodness.
12:42Three.
12:43Beautiful.
12:44They look like zebras.
12:49Oh, wow.
12:52They're beautiful.
12:53The weird thing is, I haven't once thought about sharks.
13:00That's progress.
13:02Oh, my God.
13:03That was just...
13:17What a treat.
13:18Did you like that?
13:19That was awesome.
13:20That was awesome.
13:21That was the most technical dive for me.
13:22Oh.
13:23Yeah, it was properly exciting.
13:24It's not the first house my mum bought in the 50s.
13:26Oh, Dan.
13:27I am a sucker for the fish.
13:28Yeah, the fish were amazing.
13:29Oh, God, there's so many fish done there.
13:30I didn't even notice the fish.
13:31I was too busy putting pretend limpet mines on the side.
13:33The buoyancy thing is a thing, isn't it?
13:34Because I'm extremely buoyant, apparently.
13:35I think we've kind of got it.
13:36So I was really proud of myself.
13:37Oh.
13:38Join us.
13:39Join us.
13:40How were we?
13:41Join us.
13:42How were we?
13:43I think you guys did amazing.
13:44I was like, that was a pretty challenging dive.
13:45And it's building all those skills and confidence that you need.
13:48Because when you get on a big shark dive, you're not worrying about all the other elements
13:53that are around you.
13:54Right.
13:55You can focus on the shark.
13:56Tristan, we're losing light.
13:57I agree.
13:58If they go in now, by the time they get out, it's going to be dark.
13:59So it's almost like they would have done then a transition dive.
14:01Yeah.
14:02I think it's better to just set up for the night dive.
14:03Yeah.
14:04I think it's better to just set up for the night dive.
14:05Yeah.
14:06I think you guys did amazing.
14:07I was like, that was a pretty challenging dive.
14:08And it's building all those skills and confidence that you need.
14:09Because when you get on a big shark dive, you're not worrying about all the other elements
14:10that are around you.
14:11Right.
14:12You can focus on the shark.
14:13Tristan, we're losing light.
14:14I agree.
14:15If they go in now, by the time they get out, it's going to be dark.
14:17So it's almost like they would have done then a transition dive.
14:22Yeah.
14:23I think it's better to just set up for the night dive and just go with that.
14:26Otherwise, we're just going to be in a situation where we're going to be rushing, and then you compromise safety.
14:32So hopefully, they'll all be good.
14:37Okay, gang.
14:38As we can see, the light is fading.
14:40We've run a bit behind today.
14:41So team two, we had to make a decision.
14:43We're going to end up doing a night dive.
14:45Is anything more likely to bump into us in the night?
14:50The reef fish kind of hunker down at night because they're worried about getting eaten.
14:55What predators might we find around this glorious shipwreck?
14:58Great hammerheads like wrecks, so do bull sharks.
15:02They often use wrecks at night to hunt for stingrays.
15:08We have to be ready for anything.
15:10Our three divers, Dougie, Rachel and Helen, you're all included on this show.
15:14You're all included on this dive.
15:15And we have one more spot from team one.
15:17I've got four water bottles here that belong to Ross, Lenny, Lucy and Addy.
15:22Whatever name comes out, that is who's going diving with us on the night dive.
15:26Rachel, you want to pick it?
15:27Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
15:33Who is it?
15:34Daddy!
15:41Come on!
15:42Okay, so we have our second team.
15:44Are you happy to do it?
15:45This is a big step.
15:46We understand.
15:47It is a big step.
15:48I really want to do the shipwreck, but I don't want to do the night dive.
15:54So I'm really torn.
15:55You'd be mad to miss out on the opportunity.
15:57If you don't like it, you can always just turn around.
15:59Yeah.
16:00Exactly.
16:01It's fine.
16:05I'm scared.
16:06I am scared.
16:07I'll be honest.
16:08This is creepy as hell.
16:11What the hell is that?
16:13At the SS Sapona shipwreck, Dougie, Rachel and Helen are next to attempt this technically challenging
16:34dive at night.
16:36We've got to handle our buoyancy when we can't see anything.
16:40We know that loads of predators get active at night.
16:43Even without the darkness, this was a step up from our skills levels.
16:46I thought I was really cool with it.
16:48Now it's dark and the reality is set in.
16:51Imagine, like, pitch black and then you shine a light on...
16:59Yes, this is intimidating.
17:00It's scary.
17:01It's night.
17:02It's also super cool.
17:04They're really going to have to make sure that they stay calm, they relax,
17:09and they pay attention on this dive.
17:11At night, you're going to get a bit more disoriented.
17:13So all these experiences are going to only benefit them as divers.
17:18Building skills for this big tiger shark dive.
17:21Seconds away.
17:22Looks awesome.
17:24Have a good dive, you guys.
17:26Thanks, Dougie.
17:27Go, Dougie.
17:28Here we go.
17:29Dougie and Rachel are diving with Danny and are the first to enter the water.
17:39This is weird.
17:42Did I wake up this morning thinking that I was going to do a night dive?
17:46Absolutely no way.
17:47Am I slightly petrified?
17:49Yes, I am.
17:50I'm not naturally a brave person, I don't think, but I'm pushing myself to be brave.
17:55Getting quite emotional now.
17:58It's a bit scary, guys.
18:00When we first started, I wouldn't even put my head underwater in the swimming pool.
18:07I hate it.
18:08What's the main thing?
18:09I just hate being underwater.
18:10Okay.
18:11But actually having that up-close experience with the hammerhead sharks was the most magical moment of my life.
18:19This is a moment I will never forget.
18:24So, it would be a real shame to come this far and not attack the next few days with sort of determination and confidence.
18:32I really want to commit to succeeding in this and meeting the tigers.
18:37You've got this, H. You've got this.
18:40Thanks, babe.
18:45Oh, gosh.
18:46My heart is fluttering, man.
18:55It's beating.
18:56I'm scared.
18:57I am scared.
18:58I'll be honest.
18:59Yeah.
19:04Whoa!
19:05Look at this.
19:06It's so spooky.
19:11So dark.
19:12That was kind of petrifying coming down.
19:16Diving at night can be disorientating, even for experienced divers.
19:21Start moving to the wreck.
19:22Okay.
19:23And in the pitch black, maintaining position in the water is even more challenging.
19:28Oh, it's hard to get buoyancy down here.
19:30You can't see anything.
19:32Oh, gosh.
19:33What is that?
19:35Is it a shark?
19:36No, it's just some sort of massive fish.
19:39What the hell is that?
19:42Oh, those fish are enormous.
19:45Okay.
19:46Here we go.
19:47We're getting close to the opening, guys.
19:51Oh, my God.
19:52There's a shipwreck.
19:53Oh, my God.
19:56Entering the wreck through the rusty hole is one of the most dangerous parts of the dive.
20:00It's a bit of a strong current.
20:02So I'm gonna fish myself through it.
20:05And I can't see it.
20:07Freaking thing.
20:10Swim in this direction.
20:15This is creepy as hell.
20:21This is a bit scary, actually.
20:23I'm completely out of my depth right now.
20:26I'm going up.
20:29This is the difficult bit.
20:31This is quite disorientating, actually.
20:35Is this the engine room there?
20:38Still no sharks.
20:39Oh, it's not over there.
20:42Oh, my God.
20:43Oh, my God.
20:44This is the best thing I've ever seen.
20:46Oh, my God.
20:47That's a turtle.
20:48Oh, my God.
20:49That is so cool.
20:52What is that?
20:53It's a turtle.
20:54Oh, wow.
20:55She's beautiful.
20:56Oh, my God.
20:57Oh, my God.
20:59Oh, my God.
21:01That is so cool.
21:02What is that?
21:03It's a turtle.
21:05Oh, my God.
21:06Oh, my God.
21:07Oh, my God.
21:08Oh, my God.
21:09Oh, my God.
21:10Oh, my God.
21:11Oh, my God.
21:12Oh, my God.
21:13Oh, my God.
21:14Oh, my God.
21:15Oh, my God.
21:16Oh, my God.
21:17Oh, my God.
21:18Oh, my God.
21:19Oh, my God.
21:20Oh, my God.
21:21Oh, my God.
21:22Oh, my God.
21:23Oh, my God.
21:24Oh, my God.
21:25Oh, my God.
21:26Oh, my God.
21:27Oh, my God.
21:28Oh, my God.
21:29Oh, my God.
21:30Oh, my God.
21:31Oh, my God.
21:32Oh, my God.
21:33is close to this unbelievable this is such a wonderland oh hello baby he's with us
21:51oh
22:01yeah oh not cool not cool
22:09oh gosh i'm actually quite scared stop stop my mask my bar's filling up with water are you okay
22:20oh god
22:26i'm going to be hiking okay try and stay calm and we'll take you up
22:30go boss bloody let's go
22:41please take off
22:42it's okay hey don't be sorry you're fine
22:57helen's mask flooded incredible that she's gone this far
23:01i went down there and it was incredible there was this amazing sea turtle down there so we
23:07watched her swim past us and that was incredible and then my mask was filling up at the bottom but
23:12then it started filling up from the top as well as the bottom and i could just see the water coming
23:16from both sides and i just had a panic attack and got really frustrated
23:19i'm really annoyed with myself but i think the water getting in my mask and i've been absolutely
23:28fine with my mask until this point but that just freaked me out
23:32so yeah
23:37oh my god
23:46bloody hell oh my god
23:49oh what the we had a tad lizard tour guys
23:53she was following us around the entire time i was so blown away by that dive because we saw so
23:57much wildlife a nurse shark i oh my god that scared the absolute crap out of me
24:04it was just coming right at us i burned through all of my oxygen in that second okay maybe i was a
24:11little bit cocky before that was yeah a genuine moment of fear that's the moment that's like burnt
24:16into my head now forever oh my god
24:23i've just had the greatest dive of my life oh my god that was incredible
24:32i can hear everyone's had this amazing wonderful experience and i want them to
24:37they need to have that moment because it's been an incredible once in a lifetime opportunity
24:42and i've obviously had a very different experience so you know respecting their joy
24:49i saw one turtle and i thought yeah this is cool and then this next one comes
24:56and there's two turtles that was fantastic i'm trying to analyze what happened down there it was a
25:02bit chaotic i think that's why i'm so upset because i thought i was going to drown i'm definitely
25:07questioning whether this was the right thing to do whether i should be here
25:20how did you sleep last night you had two big dives i was knackered yeah i bet you were i was
25:41absolutely not yeah did anyone else notice i thought as soon as you got into the shipwreck it
25:46felt warmer did you piss yourself i was scared there was moments where i looked and it was just complete
25:54darkness right it felt quite eerie it was really disorientated you couldn't you couldn't see anybody
25:59in front of you unless there was a pool of light you couldn't tell where you were in some ways i can't
26:04wait to get back home and back to normality because there's definitely been a lot of ups and downs yes
26:10i've i've worked in tv for years i've done big theater shows in front of thousands of people but
26:15this is very uncomfortable for me pushing myself mentally to the extreme has been the hardest thing
26:22i've ever done it's definitely the most most confusing dive it was hard to know which way was up
26:29which way was down i was using the turtles to know which way was up a turtle is not the ocean spirit
26:35level i had a jump scare and there's a door here to the haunted ship and then out of the doorway came
26:47this nurse shark wow how did you respond was it really scary i was cool about it you wouldn't be able
26:53to tell that i was scared i've definitely got something to now to talk about at awkward social
27:00gatherings hi i'm doug this is why i'm with sharks back to being awkward oh here we are trouble oh wow
27:13how are you doing hello hello to see you oh yeah you know what happens when i turn up it means it's about
27:21to get wild today we're going to be diving with caribbean reef sharks
27:28caribbean reef sharks can be bitey if you flail around if you act erratic
27:35don't act like food they won't treat you like food just try and relax a week ago the celebrities
27:43were introduced to these animals from the surface in an initiation test affectionately called the line
27:49of terror take a moment just deep breathing they move and sometimes hunt in groups and can grow
27:58up to two and a half meters long so a scuba dive is not only more technical and more intimidating
28:04but an essential step to prepare them for the looming tiger shark dive these sharks are going to be all
28:11around you they are not shy keep your hands by your sides like this so you're not offering anything to
28:18them and just admire them they're pretty pretty calm as long as you're calm these sharks two three times
28:25our size with the ability to get us but that said you can judge a shark's behavior much more than you
28:33can another wild predator on land that's that's what's clicked for me here it's just going to be a
28:39really cool dive with these animals and hopefully we'll be in the middle of of a sharknado i have had
28:47various levels of fear and trepidation before every single experience we've done but being surrounded
28:54by caribbean reef sharks inches from your face is extreme beyond words
29:05today's dive with caribbean reef sharks is just a few miles off the coast and it will be one of the
29:10last opportunities for the celebrities to prove that they have the skills to dive with tiger sharks
29:16so what do you reckon mate how from your perspective are the team doing well yesterday's
29:25dives were pretty difficult and i felt that there's a few people that really stood out that did great
29:32ross he seems very confident rachel similar buoyancy good no fear really that might be something we have
29:40to watch for lenny struggled with his buoyancy and it'll be interesting to see how he reacts
29:47with a lot of reef shark action there's a level of bravery that we need to have when we go down there
29:52i can't be doing this i can't be doing that because i don't want anybody to think i'm food down there
29:58even lucy dougie had a moment with a nurse shark where it kind of spooked him i think in some ways
30:05was actually quite good okay and then lucy yesterday you know i i caught her like just
30:11looking underneath stuff and just being really relaxed so that was that was really good to see
30:18after consulting with the team medic addy has decided he's not well enough to attempt today's
30:23shark dive challenge i really enjoyed the wreck dive but i'm absolutely exhausted like physically i
30:33pushed myself to the limit i've got nothing left in the tank addy he's gonna sit this one out he's
30:39progressed i i don't see any issues with him no he did two dives yesterday thoroughly impressive yeah
30:44and then helen it's tough for her i've seen some of the biggest dudes i've had to train go in the water
30:51at night and they polaris to the surface and pull straight off training yeah so for helen to go in
30:56a night dive is it's pretty big right really great that she did it but you know i don't think it
31:02was a great experience what do you think that means do you think we're not going to be able
31:07to progress on we don't have to make the decision now and hope that she can prove to us that she
31:12can do it because obviously i'd love to get everyone on it by getting in the water with tigers
31:19that's a whole another level it is
31:24although the celebrities have dived with larger shark species caribbean reef sharks can be unpredictable
31:31and often move and hunt together in groups
31:38okay here goes nothing
31:42lucy ross and lenny are the first to enter the water
31:46oh this is wild okay here we go
31:53when you do stand up some people look at the idea of standing in front of loads of people
32:01they find that idea terrifying when i feel that adrenaline i think of it as excitement
32:07i just really love doing exciting things and everything we've done so far has been really exciting
32:13wow there was literally sharks everywhere with this trip i've been in the water every day but sitting
32:26with reef sharks swimming towards you and swimming around you you can't be complacent
32:32holy
32:40holy shit there's reef sharks swimming above me which is
32:45kind of spectacular today they're going to be surrounded by sharks that can approach them from any
32:51angle and we're really going to have to judge them individually can they stay calm with a six seven
32:58foot caribbean reef shark swimming directly up to their face
33:06probably got about 15 to 20 reef sharks here now proper circling us now
33:12oh wow everywhere you turn it's just it's just sharks oh my god oh my god oh my god well that's a reef
33:26shark and that's another one and that's another one and that's another one and that's another one
33:32fucking hell i'm lenny and i'm showing the sharks and right now i'm crapping myself
33:39like the scientists who've been observing these reef sharks for over 20 years
33:46we've used a bait box to lure the sharks into the vicinity reef sharks always goes straight with
33:52the fish blood it is a glorious magnificent and frightening sight
33:59oh my god they're all coming in oh they're coming in fast oh christ oh
34:02shit they're like diving oh my god oh this is like the 3d frenzy
34:11oh my god this is what i was worried about oh my god it's gonna touch me oh no lucy has decided to go
34:17wrong let's just get closer oh my god oh my god and the courage is pushing me closer and closer to the
34:25bait box i'm literally in a shark suit okay i've been pushed further back because i got it too close to
34:32the bait box it's not really murky down here now so it means that when the sharks appear they just appear
34:40around nowhere oh oh god oh my god that one went really crazy
34:49you're sort of lost right there
34:53they're so close and the temptation to touch them is massive oh my god this is gonna be ross noble's act
35:01for years we've got lenny long gone are those buoyancy issues now just relaxed and enjoying the show
35:12it's weird to wake up you have a bagel scrambled eggs or some bacon
35:17and then suddenly there's a shark giving you cyanide
35:33oh my god i literally can't believe it we were literally i was looking at you like this
35:44and there were sharks just swimming around there were so many i was effing and blinding a lot down
35:51there because i've just never seen anything like that in my life one of them did come by me and go
35:58that's not neutral buoyancy like that you need to be you need to be you need to adjust
36:04i thought i was getting dragged no but it looked like you were so fascinated you were doing this
36:08and underwater i said to myself why is he doing that that's a shock i was getting drawn towards
36:17the bait box how's that ross i've become one of them yeah oh no did you enjoy that oh my god that's
36:24amazing yeah the best bit was when we were just eye to eye yeah following us and then they just swim
36:30up to you and like swim past you yeah i love the fact that we're not on the menu thank you god i think
36:35they've been well fed we're not on the menu it's great that they're having this positive experience
36:44the whole purpose of why we're here is to make them fall in love with sharks they're not looking at
36:49us as food they're just going about their business we can coexist so hopefully we can get a whole new
36:56generation of shark lovers on board to help us spread the conservation message because sharks around
37:02the world are being decimated in the tens and hundreds of millions
37:12visibility is quite poor today and i'm worried that i'm gonna have you know a panic attack in the
37:19sea and in a dark ocean with some killer sharks i think after my experience with the night dive yesterday
37:28i'm a little bit worried that if i go back in again and have the same experience that i had
37:32yesterday that i won't mentally be able to bring myself back from here of course we want you to try
37:39and do all of these dives but hopefully we'll be able to get you in again in the next few days absolutely
37:44and i want to i want to get back in and i want my next time in the water when we're scuba diving to be a
37:49really positive magical experience and i think today's not the day for that right
37:57with helen sitting this one out and addy unwell the next dive will be just dougie and rachel i'm
38:02actually uh a little bit nervous i think because of the like the weather it's kind of uh kind of a bit
38:11gloomy a bit sinister
38:34high winds have dragged the boat from its mooring and it's now
38:37drifting dangerously towards the exposed rocks there's a storm coming in the rain's getting
38:43really quite heavy there's a strong chance we're gonna end up on the rocks we're coming up on the
38:50reef guys we need some physical health down here
38:57there's a lot of shouting it's getting quite scary actually
39:00something bad's happening
39:07shit the boat's gone
39:12we've been caught i have forced repositioning the boats
39:17they've left us here
39:30in the middle of the dive with caribbean reef sharks high winds have dragged the dive boat into the
39:39shallow waters and dangerously close to the rocks
39:43the ocean you can't turn your back on it the tide picks up the current picks up waves pick up
39:48if you've got your anchor on the sandy bottom it can pull you ashore
39:51dougie's under the water apparently under the water it's all calm but we've been drifting because
39:55it's a surge so we're just repositioning and then it's safe to go back in the water
40:01can you hear me dougie yeah
40:06slightly to reset the anchor keeping rachel and paul on board and still we stabilize our situation
40:12this is diving and especially in the bahamas these storms run through pretty quickly often
40:20you'll get a big storm come through 15 minutes later flat car
40:27oh here i am just hanging out right next to the bait box
40:32the boat is now a safer distance from the rocks
40:35so rachel and paul can finally join dougie in the water
40:42oh there's a shot one two three four five absolutely loads i can't count that really
40:46i don't have to count right now wrong show here we go oh
40:50i don't know if i like the most bit right now you've got some bait going into the water
41:06and that's creating the predator instinct in these sharks
41:09oh
41:16it's like a tornado of sharks down here
41:30that was close i could properly see their little eyeballs moving
41:40i'm actually very relaxed out here i'm now swimming towards the sharks am i crazy
41:48hello shark nothing to see here where's rachel going oh she just took off by herself this is not
41:56what she should be doing on a dive rachel come back nothing to see here there's a shark
42:02above a shark below and off she's left the dive body here she can't be doing this with the tigers
42:08hey doggy you're black just get the crap out of me this is mad it's the most amount of swell i've ever been in
42:16this is one wild dive the current is ripping through at the same time
42:22i'm all over the place this swell is bad getting a little wild down here time for the team to go back to the surface
42:30you have a storm up here we had a storm up here it was like a thunderstorm yeah are you kidding
42:45no it was pretty it was pretty full on it was mad down there i was on the bottom just being thrown
42:51around with sharks this place is more and more magical that time down there they're looking at
42:58you in the eye not in an aggressive way but you're really like eye to eye with them you get a different
43:04view of them completely underneath yeah that was probably the most hectic dive of my life but now
43:13we've done reefs i think we're on the right tracks for tigers now for sure well guys how do you think
43:19you went on that dive i think overall it was pretty good that was the gnarliest like most adventurous
43:25dive for sure surrounded in an actual shark nato yes yes i have to agree with you you did really
43:32great but scuba diving is an inherently dangerous activity don't let complacency drag you down
43:40complacency kills don't get overconfident don't go swimming off without your body like you did i'd hate
43:46for your overconfidence to be the point that stops you from enjoying and doing safely what's coming up
43:56tigers are incredible hopefully we're going to get to take you all on that journey all of you
44:02that's the goal got real fomo when you guys were down there i was like oh did i make the wrong decision
44:07here and then watching you come back up and you're so excited and you've seen so many amazing things i
44:12feel like i've really i've missed out on an experience and maybe i needed to feel that to get back in the
44:17water some solid motivation right there use it if today was the day we were doing the tiger shark dive
44:25i think i would be slightly nervous about putting myself in that position but i want to be able to
44:32get to the point where i can get into the sea with these tiger sharks because i don't want to let
44:37myself down
44:41i think all of us will come away from this having conquered some of our greatest fears
44:46i mean who knows the tiger shark might be the thing that is the making of us all but
44:51swimming with the tiger shark it's not to be underestimated that it's a big move
44:55no one expects to see a wheelchair user jumping into the ocean with tiger sharks they don't expect
45:04to see most people jumping into the ocean with tiger sharks let alone me so yeah it is it's definitely
45:10frightening but we have to have trust in our team and trust in the process i know with the tiger sharks
45:17i should be scared they have the ability to rip into pieces and i have got kids so you you know this
45:24is a much more serious decision so i'm not going to do anything ridiculous because with the wrong move
45:30this is could be a life or death situation
45:41everything else that you've done is child's play compared to what you are about to do
45:49there's every chance there could be a hundred sharks a hundred
45:55it's getting very real now this is the last opportunity for you guys to showcase your skills
46:01there are just shots everywhere
46:06lucy last night you were on the fence have you made your decision
46:09i'm going to do this but i'm really really scared
46:13in the fence
46:19behind the fence behind him behind you behind you
