We ask Londoners if they think apprenticeships should be encouraged instead of university clearing?
Transcript
00:00I don't know if the numbers back this up, but my instinct in this country is that we broadly lack kind of practical skills.
00:07Maybe I'm projecting because I'm one of those people.
00:10But in terms of degrees, the people are oversaturated.
00:15We don't need degrees anymore in this country.
00:18There are lots of graduates around there.
00:19They have no skills.
00:20They can't do nothing.
00:21They have graduated from any like BA, BSc, BCom.
00:24All these degrees, they have it, but they have no skills to do.
00:26They have no jobs to do.
00:28And so, yeah, and I have studied those kind of art subjects, soft subjects, and I've noticed that it can be difficult to get jobs.
00:36It feels like after 2008 and the banking crisis, university and then professional life doesn't really match up in that way anymore.
00:47And I do wonder about whether an increase in apprenticeships makes sense.
00:51But I think it really depends on the degree more than necessary clearing what degree you go and do.
00:59That's right.
00:59That's right.
00:59That's right.
01:00That's right.
