A lot of cloud with scattered showers about this afternoon, and any sunshine will be fairly fleeting. In Scotland, more persistent showers should break up a bit through the afternoon, but there may be some heavy downpours especially in the northeast. Some heavy showers may also develop later in the far southeast. Temperatures dropping below the seasonal average.  - This is the Met Office UK weather forecast for the afternoon of 27/07/2025. 00:00Hello, good afternoon. After what's been a fairly warm and sunny month so far, July is

00:06actually ending on a cloudier and more changeable note, and that's certainly the case out there

00:10today. The earlier radar and satellite shows quite a bit of rain overnight across the west

00:15of Scotland, but also some showery outbreaks elsewhere across the UK, and it will stay

00:19fairly unsettled through this afternoon too. A lot of clouds, so any sunshine fairly fleeting.

00:24The showers across the west of Scotland tend to break up a bit more, so some dry includes

00:28developing, but I think across the north-east of Scotland in particular, there could well

00:32be some heavier downpours later this afternoon, and perhaps even the odd rumble of thunder.

00:37Elsewhere, the showers far fewer and further between, and lighter than yesterday in general,

00:41so many places having a rather cloudy, but mostly dry afternoon. We will just need to watch

00:47the far south-east of England though. Here we could see some slightly heavier showers developing

00:51later. Now, for one of the first days this month so far, actually temperatures might well

00:56be a little bit below average in some places, so only 22 or 23 degrees at best, and many

01:02places in the north, more like 17 to 19 degrees Celsius, with a wind coming in from the Atlantic,

01:07it will feel on the cool side.

01:10A bit more in a way of sunshine this evening, perhaps for some western fringes of the UK,

01:15coastal parts of Wales for example in the south-west, but many places having a bit of cloud through

01:19this evening. Still the odd shower around in places, but as we go through the early hours,

01:24the cloud tends to break up, many parts of southern and eastern Britain seeing lengthy

01:28clear spells developing, and that will allow temperatures in the countryside at least to

01:32fall potentially down into the high single figures. But for most of us in the towns and

01:37cities, lows of just 14 or 15.

01:40So quite a cloudy start to the day on Monday across the north-west. Still one or two showers

01:45coming in on that fairly brisk north-westly flow, but overall it's going to be a much brighter

01:50day on Monday compared to the weekend. So a mixture of cloud and sunny spells. A few showers

01:55bubbling up across England and Wales through the afternoon, but these tend to be fairly

01:59light, and once again you'll be pretty unlucky to catch one tomorrow, so many places staying

02:03dry. And it should help lift those temperatures as well, more in a way of sunshine, so a warmer

02:08day to come. Highs of 24 or 25 degrees Celsius in the south and the east of England, and even

02:14across Northern Ireland and Scotland. Temperature's not too far away from average. 19 or 20 degrees

02:20won't feel too bad in the sunshine.

02:22But notice across the north-west, if I move backwards, we've got this band of rain pushing

02:27in from the west as we go through Monday evening across Northern Ireland, so it will be turning

02:31a bit wetter here, and that's a sign of things to come as we go into Tuesday. So turning more

02:36unsettled once again, we will see some showers or longer spells of rain pushing in from the

02:40north-west. But temperatures will be on the rise, so it will be starting to feel much more humid,

02:44and we could even see temperatures in the mid to high 20s in the south and the east by
