00:00Bristol Rovers were defeated by two goals to nil by Championship side Coventry City at the Memorial Stadium with Daryl Clark reflecting on the loss.
00:10It's a real tough workout for us. That's the reason why we've got two championship teams in the last two games because we want to get the lads' fitness levels up.
00:18I thought we defended pretty strongly for a lot of the game we had to. They had a lot of ball, some talented players make ten changes at half time.
00:25We've got to be miles better on the ball, we know that, but we're trying to get the basics into the boys and the slow building box, trying to get ready for August 2nd.
00:34When you play championship teams, is that where you aspire to be? Is that where you tell the boys to aspire to be?
00:39Listen, you've got to suffer. You're going to suffer. That's the whole point, to be able to suffer.
00:43What I'm expecting moving further forward is to make sure we look after transitions better, we look after the ball, we have a better build than we did today.
00:51Obviously finished the game with three young lads on the team as well.
00:55Listen, there's plenty of things to be positive about without the ball. With the ball, we know we've got to get miles better.
01:02Yeah, especially in that first half. It did really feel that you limited a really talented Coventry's team's chances.
01:07Yeah, we did. No, we looked strong defensively. Nothing come from it.
01:10I think there's one ball that came through the middle of us, to be honest with you, so you have to defend well.
01:15And Bristol City's Jason Knight is hoping that the Robins can go one better in the upcoming championship season than they did in the league last year.
01:24They finished sixth last time out and qualified for the playoffs, but ultimately lost against Sheffield United by six goals to nil on aggregate in the semifinals.
01:34Yeah, like you say, it's a change obviously with the new manager and the staff coming in. The lads are taken to it quite well.
01:40And we've just got to try and implement as much as we can over the next few weeks.
01:43There's still a couple, two or three weeks to go until the season starts.
01:46So, no, we just keep working. We've got a good couple of games coming up on Friday and Saturday.
01:50So we'll try and get better and better as the weeks go on.
01:53And as you say, new faces, new head coach, a lot of partnerships developing there.
01:56You were playing with new signing Adam Randall and Adam Murphy in the second half there. How important are these games for that?
02:01Yeah, massively want to get cohesion in the group and obviously build that social element as well off the pitch as well.
02:07So it's been good. The lads have fitted in really well.
02:09And ultimately we want them to perform to help the team grow and go one better this year coming up.
