00:00:00A list of the topics, themes, and subject matter featured in this episode has been included in the video description.
00:00:30Hello one and all! Welcome back to another episode of Dimension 20, Cloudward Ho! I'm your humble Dungeon Master, Brandon Lee Mung, and with me as always are our Intrepid Heroes! Say hi, Intrepid Heroes!
00:00:56Sky, Intrepid Heroes! We changed it for the theme, folks!
00:01:03We finally got it figured out. Only six episodes in. I think we're locked in. We're locked in. We're locked in. We're locked in.
00:01:08I might do something different. I might do something different next episode. Whoa, whoa!
00:01:12Last we left off, our Intrepid Heroes had made it all the way to the fabled land of Zood.
00:01:18After the invention of aviation in the world of Gath, the legendary Windriders of Comfrey McCloud's first crew
00:01:25had scattered to the winds, with Monte LaMontgomery becoming a famous author, Van Chapman becoming the owner of the Rusty Nut,
00:01:32Maria Yonkova opening a rusty toy shop in Scrapsylvania, and Daisuke Bucklesby staying in Gulch Canyon
00:01:40to stop any would-be assailants of the young Olethra McCloud, the granddaughter of the famed Professor Comfrey McCloud.
00:01:47The heir of the Gotch family, seventh son of the Gotch family, Maxwell Gotch, set out to revive his grandfather's legacy of the Gotch family,
00:01:58bankrolling true eccentrics and wingnuts in their quest to do oddball shit that maybe would be lucrative but probably not.
00:02:10So, gathering the crew back together and heading to the effulgent bi-angle, our crew made it all the way to the fabled land of Zood,
00:02:18where they encountered nocturnal zebras and ember gliders, found the walking city of Tibera, and encountered the Eyeless Hand,
00:02:29a group of those that seemed malevolent and had been mentioned in the radio broadcast of Comfrey McCloud,
00:02:35along with other forces at work in Zood, such as the Legio Rex, a group of Trecian soldiers from the Lost Legion in ancient history
00:02:44that had assumed the bodies of Velociraptors due to the old Zood switcheroo, a sort of bizarre phenomenon
00:02:53where a mushroom known as a Miconomus magnamensa is able to switch the minds of creatures across each other somewhere in the land of Zood.
00:03:04You also discovered, looking for Romansu Power Station, you discovered the Temple of Romansu,
00:03:11somewhere beyond the Arenth Mountains.
00:03:15You are having more sort of fun shenanigans here in Tibera City.
00:03:19You guys went over to the Fighting Pit where you beat not only Barney Ballast and Porcoro,
00:03:25but also got a Brachiosaurus to bow out of the match.
00:03:30Incredible.
00:03:32Hey, something about a different guy really-
00:03:34Literally huge.
00:03:35Yeah.
00:03:36I don't know who-
00:03:37Serves the credit for that.
00:03:38I just wish I was there.
00:03:39What a hero.
00:03:40Local hero.
00:03:42That different guy was there, though.
00:03:43You could ask him.
00:03:45Olethra McCloud contributed to the fight by finding a man putting firecrackers in teacups on top of pigeons and pushing him off.
00:03:55Maybe our stupidest fight yet.
00:03:58I don't know if it's the stupidest, but it's definitely up.
00:04:00It's definitely up.
00:04:01Giggity, giggity.
00:04:02It really sucks.
00:04:03It really sucks.
00:04:04Let's restart the episode.
00:04:05Zach put a lot of effort into going to a random person's window, punching it out, stealing a potted plant covered in blood to wave at a Brachiosaurus,
00:04:19only for Olethra to giggity, giggity, push a man off a roof.
00:04:23Whose birthday it was.
00:04:24Whose birthday it was.
00:04:25I didn't even realize I wasn't helping until now.
00:04:28However, Olethra, with that vantage point up on the roof, was able to see a weathervane not of the world of Zood,
00:04:39discovered an apartment nearby home to one haunched Saxon former crew member of the Zephyr and compatriot of one company McCloud.
00:04:51His throat slit in his bed and drawn images of a vast black-winged bird, Straka, there beside him.
00:05:02Fuck.
00:05:03Monty was able to track the steps of the murderer down from the apartment to discover the symbol of the eyeless hand,
00:05:12and the tracks of a man not of this world either.
00:05:17One Kensington Cosgrove murder-shire.
00:05:21Mystery abounds as the plot thickens.
00:05:24You have all of the resources you need.
00:05:26You've learned all about the nature of Vim and Vex and Nox and Nephew.
00:05:30You're getting your handle on navigating this place.
00:05:33And moreover, with some careful study in thumb and bottom booksellers,
00:05:37Maria Yankova has a map.
00:05:40Whoa, look at that!
00:05:43We return to Tabira City!
00:05:46We return to Tabira City here in this moment with Monty returning from the alleyway as the rest of you investigate.
00:05:56with a map of the surrounding area pinpointing the location of the Temple of Romansu.
00:06:06Ooh.
00:06:07Right.
00:06:08Wow.
00:06:09Beautifully folded.
00:06:10Beautifully folded.
00:06:11Yes.
00:06:12Just admiring a map over a dead body.
00:06:14Yum.
00:06:15Wow, it's so beautiful!
00:06:17The parchment!
00:06:19Monty, you walk back in.
00:06:22Is there anything else going on in the apartment right now?
00:06:24With this murdered body here, I think that all of you hear the traffic of feet outside.
00:06:31You have the information you're looking for to stay on Comfrey's trail,
00:06:35but you're standing over the murdered body of a man who you loudly in a marketplace said had to be gotten and brought to you.
00:06:44Yeah.
00:06:45Do we hide the body, or...?
00:06:46I don't know that we have time to.
00:06:48I guess we could try to bring him, give him a sailor's burial, which is where you just drop him from a ship in the sky.
00:06:54Drop him from the sky onto some rocks.
00:06:56Yeah, let's do that, maybe.
00:06:57Oh, I would like that.
00:06:58Yeah.
00:06:59All right.
00:07:00Are we going to be able to walk through the town with this dead body?
00:07:03Could you put your disguise kit on it?
00:07:04I have a completely noble idea.
00:07:05I don't have a disguise kit.
00:07:07Oh, sorry.
00:07:08Right, right, right.
00:07:09Right, right, of course.
00:07:10Uh, yes.
00:07:11Also, I, um, this was Murdershire.
00:07:15What?
00:07:16Without a doubt.
00:07:17Wait a second.
00:07:18Why would Murdershire be looking for the bi-angle if he already know how to get to Zoot?
00:07:23Well, that makes me wonder if he's looking for the bi-angle or if he's looking for Comfrey.
00:07:27That's what I have started to wonder.
00:07:30If we are actually being used to try to find Comfrey, and she doesn't want to be found,
00:07:35and then our sentimentality is being pulled like puppet strings.
00:07:39Well, but then why she would, why she, why she would, why she wouldn't, why can't I speak?
00:07:44Why would she, I'm sorry, I'm very shocked there's a dead body with my old friend in the corner.
00:07:49And I really wanted to have an aggressive conversation about him spreading rumors about us and then we got here and he's dead.
00:07:54It's complicated, yeah.
00:07:55Why would Comfrey leave a message saying all of that stuff about us going to find her if she didn't want to be found?
00:08:04Because she might want to be found by us, but not by Murdershire.
00:08:07Well, it's understandable. I don't want to be found by Murdershire.
00:08:09How did he get away?
00:08:11Ah, he's a member of this eyeless hand.
00:08:14Everyone's just coming and going out of Zoot now?
00:08:16Yeah, what's going on?
00:08:17I thought we found it.
00:08:18We definitely didn't find it. Sorry.
00:08:20I mean, the nice thing is, is that at least now we know there's a way back, right?
00:08:25Clearly.
00:08:26Unless this was his first time here.
00:08:28Yeah.
00:08:29Who knows if he's been here before.
00:08:30Maybe they just literally followed us into the bi-angle because there was the storm.
00:08:34But then they were able to find Hutch first.
00:08:37We were pissing and shitting around the place.
00:08:39We kind of made a bit of a pit stop.
00:08:41Yeah, I'm shirtless and extremely sweaty and covered in blood and fucked up.
00:08:45Yes, we did some stuff.
00:08:46We made a little bit of a scene.
00:08:48Okay, but what if it wasn't that though?
00:08:50Is there any chance that there is a rat on the ship?
00:08:54On the ship? I don't think so.
00:08:56Yeah, I feel like we made a lot of noise.
00:08:57And we also ran into another member of the eyeless hand,
00:09:00who we made a whole big thing about looking for comfort.
00:09:03And he also fled and disappeared.
00:09:06Yeah.
00:09:07And we don't know where he went.
00:09:08Here's what's really fucking with my head,
00:09:10is this eyeless hand and the shell game.
00:09:13There is an element of the hand doing something the eye isn't seeing.
00:09:18Prestige.
00:09:19Magician.
00:09:20Sleight of hand.
00:09:21What is going on that is...
00:09:23We are seeing one...
00:09:24Being told one thing, shown another.
00:09:26Should we go talk to that person again?
00:09:29No, I actually think we need to, like, run.
00:09:31Yeah, we need to...
00:09:32Let's go...
00:09:33Yes.
00:09:34Maybe to Remontu Temple?
00:09:36Maybe we, yeah, get to the ship and then get our bearings after that.
00:09:40Yeah.
00:09:41Anything we want to grab while we're here or any...
00:09:43Can I do just a wild investigation check as we leave?
00:09:47I'm going to say, go ahead and give me an investigation check.
00:09:49You're going to do it with disadvantage as you look at the room
00:09:52and see that someone has already grabbed a bunch of stuff out of here.
00:09:56All right.
00:09:57You've been flipped over.
00:09:58Yeah.
00:09:59But, uh, Monty, I'd also love for you to give me survival with disadvantage.
00:10:02Oh!
00:10:03Two nines.
00:10:04Okay.
00:10:06Uh, that's going to be a 21.
00:10:08With disadvantage?
00:10:10These are the things I know how to do well.
00:10:13Sometimes you're just too good at stuff.
00:10:15You have this feeling about the tracks you saw outside.
00:10:20About Merdisher's tracks.
00:10:23Digging in on a 21, something's not adding up.
00:10:27There's the way that things don't add up when you've missed something.
00:10:31And then there's the way that things don't add up
00:10:33when there are forests of information that you're missing.
00:10:38Whole other levels or parallels of things that are going on.
00:10:41When you think about the tracks, you got a taste of Merdisher's blood
00:10:46when that fight when you and Daisuke were side by side aboard the Zephyr over the skyline of Bel Nuit.
00:10:52You remember as he took off just these things that only a veteran tracker would be able to look for.
00:11:01Things in his gait and his stance.
00:11:03Things in the ways that he walked.
00:11:05The tracks downstairs, unmistakably, were his.
00:11:09Boots were obviously different.
00:11:11But you could still find them based on the gait and the size of the feet.
00:11:14You just, there's something about it that you knew.
00:11:16Moving around a corner, there was like a wisp of something like a,
00:11:20maybe it even was a hair or something like that.
00:11:22There was something that you knew those tracks to be his.
00:11:24And yet, if you had to hazard a guess, maybe he was sick, but it can have been sick.
00:11:33You saw him a few days ago, but there was something in his gait that was a little bit shorter
00:11:39or a little bit weaker or something was a little bit different.
00:11:44And you're pushing for an explanation or an answer, but you can't quite figure it out.
00:11:51It, no explanation is jumping to mind based on decades of adventure and experience.
00:11:59Maybe it's something to do with that red stuff that was being pumped into him.
00:12:02Yeah.
00:12:03Or even the, you said the other guy had like blood that was like, yeah.
00:12:08Oh, nasty.
00:12:09I wonder if they have to like give something to cast magic.
00:12:12Did he walk through a wall? Am I remembering that right?
00:12:15I don't know if you've told us this.
00:12:16There was an eyeless hand on the wall, similar to him.
00:12:19But he like disappeared through the wall?
00:12:21Yeah. Oh, I mean, I think we can imagine that he did something similar to the gentleman who cut his forehead.
00:12:26We didn't see that guy go through a wall. We just saw the sign on the wall after he had disappeared.
00:12:30But that's making me wonder if that guy went through a wall or if there's a way to travel in a way that we can't see here.
00:12:36I think it's all illusions and magicians.
00:12:39All right. Well, we might have to leave Haunch here. I don't know if we can drag his body through the, we can take his hat or something and throw his hat off the ship.
00:12:47I rush and I get the nicest clothes that Haunch has in his closet and I drape them over him and I say like a little piece to him or something.
00:12:56Like, I didn't know you very well, but sorry, you got killed.
00:13:01What if I leave a little note that says, we didn't do this XOXO.
00:13:05Awesome.
00:13:06Awesome.
00:13:07And we've done that a few times.
00:13:08That's all right.
00:13:09Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't.
00:13:10It does work sometimes.
00:13:12Right in our direction.
00:13:13Yeah.
00:13:14But it doesn't really, kind of do.
00:13:15They're looking in our direction anyway.
00:13:17Yeah.
00:13:18It saves somebody a lot of time.
00:13:19Should we just write the guy's name?
00:13:21I think we should.
00:13:22That you saw, Murdyshire?
00:13:23Murdyshire.
00:13:24And then leave.
00:13:25Leave.
00:13:26I think we should just leave.
00:13:27Yeah.
00:13:28Let's just, I'm going to write Murdyshire on the wall.
00:13:29Yeah, great.
00:13:30Right.
00:13:31And then let's leave.
00:13:32In his blood so it looks like he wrote it as he was dying.
00:13:34Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:13:35Right, we don't need to.
00:13:36The more we find the actual murder, the more it's just.
00:13:40Go ahead and give me a sleight of hand, Chad.
00:13:43I have a pretty good sleight of hand.
00:13:44I'm really tired, but I feel like we're making that decision.
00:13:46Yeah, I got a good sleight of hand.
00:13:48Let's start doing it.
00:13:49I got a 21 sleight of hand.
00:13:50Where is the fighting pit got when I need him?
00:13:52He's out.
00:13:53He's out.
00:13:54Where's the max?
00:13:55The max is.
00:13:56I got a nat one.
00:13:57Nat, I got it.
00:13:58I got it.
00:13:59Stop getting your hands in here.
00:14:00Great.
00:14:01Daisuke, you go to write this message in blood and accidentally sign Daisuke Bucklesby.
00:14:06And that's a perfect fingerprint.
00:14:08Yes.
00:14:09And you've cut yourself and there's more blood in your fingerprints.
00:14:12I don't know what part you played in this, Daisuke, but we'll find it.
00:14:15Let's go.
00:14:16You see that Wheelwell is wiping you off with a towel and wrings it out on Haunch's body?
00:14:19Please.
00:14:20All right.
00:14:21Wheelwell, that's disrespectful.
00:14:22Should we burn this place?
00:14:23I think I'm going to burn.
00:14:24Yeah, let's put it down.
00:14:25Yeah, let's put it down.
00:14:26No!
00:14:27Let's burn it.
00:14:28Should we move?
00:14:29Wait, what are we running?
00:14:30We got to get out of here.
00:14:31All right.
00:14:32A late Molotov cocktail hits the bed.
00:14:33Everyone's running.
00:14:34It was all we could do.
00:14:36Was it?
00:14:37I feel like we were close to Max.
00:14:38It was.
00:14:39I feel like we were close to Max.
00:14:40It was.
00:14:41Did you like the place on fire?
00:14:42Of course we did.
00:14:43Yeah, we both did.
00:14:44Of course.
00:14:45Give me the haunt.
00:14:46It's not his monster.
00:14:47I pick up a letter and put her over my shoulder.
00:14:51For a very long time, we probably could have just left.
00:14:53Haunt your stand.
00:14:54Haunt your stand.
00:14:55Give me the haunt.
00:14:56Give me the haunt.
00:14:57Give me the haunt.
00:14:58Give me the haunt.
00:14:59Stop shouting about it.
00:15:01Van's carrying me, but I'm going like this.
00:15:04I have my bald cap on my hat.
00:15:06Monty's crying because that is exactly what haunt Saxon would have wanted.
00:15:10That's what he would have wanted.
00:15:12Incredible.
00:15:14As soon as we round the corner, we just.
00:15:16All right, man.
00:15:18Start walking and stop breathing.
00:15:20We're all in bald caps.
00:15:22I am.
00:15:24Sir.
00:15:25Hello.
00:15:26Hello.
00:15:27You guys arrive back at the ship and see that it has a lot of the damage that it sustained,
00:15:32getting through, you know, both in Belle Nuit and then getting through the Bi-Angle,
00:15:35has been repaired successfully as you arrive back.
00:15:38You see that Daughterdale comes up to you and says,
00:15:40Master Gotch, pleasure to report that all repairs have been made.
00:15:44Happy to see everything.
00:15:45Perfect.
00:15:46Let's get going.
00:15:47All right.
00:15:48Very well.
00:15:49And I believe that we have an Aeoli flight ready for each of you aboard.
00:15:51Some of the crew are not coming.
00:15:54Really?
00:15:55That's fair.
00:15:56Yeah, that's...
00:15:57I was actually going to say that things have actually escalated and anyone who does not
00:16:01feel up to the challenges that are ahead, this has become a lethal journey.
00:16:06Yeah, what happened?
00:16:07Lieutenant Agarwal discovered a long-lost twin and Navigator Norwich fell in love.
00:16:12Really?
00:16:13Oh!
00:16:14Well...
00:16:15Wait, what?
00:16:16Hang on.
00:16:17It looks just like them?
00:16:18Does the twin want to just...
00:16:19Does everyone want to just...
00:16:20Do they just want to come?
00:16:21They did a rock, paper, scissor and the twin won.
00:16:23Oh, and they decided to...
00:16:24Are they around?
00:16:25Hmm?
00:16:26Are they around or did they leave?
00:16:27I believe they just cring up another ship.
00:16:28We absolutely don't have time to try to win the basketball.
00:16:29Yeah, that's good.
00:16:30That's good.
00:16:31That's good.
00:16:32Only in Zood, right?
00:16:34Only in Zood.
00:16:35Okay, Electra is worried but I feel like her ears are pinging because we don't know how
00:16:42Murdisher is here and we just saw him.
00:16:45Yeah.
00:16:46Is the twin thing something that she can do?
00:16:48Give me insight.
00:16:49An insight check?
00:16:50Yeah, I guess.
00:16:51I have disadvantage on everything so I'm just believing everything.
00:16:54Seventeen.
00:16:55You look off elsewhere in the marketplace and see Lieutenant Agarwal who is like basically
00:17:01like off with a group of people who...
00:17:03You realize like you went, got some street food, had to walk to a whole other neighborhood,
00:17:08went to a bookseller, had an adventure in the fighting pit, went and investigated and haunch
00:17:12and everyone else was doing stuff too.
00:17:14It's just one of them fell in love and then another one found a long lost twin.
00:17:17Found themself.
00:17:18Found themself here in Zood, a long lost twin across dimensions.
00:17:20That's like such a dream, right?
00:17:22Not to fall in love, to find a long lost twin.
00:17:25To find a long lost twin.
00:17:26If we can just get...
00:17:27If we can...
00:17:28You know what?
00:17:29I'm going to walk up to the twins real quick.
00:17:30That's okay.
00:17:31Yeah.
00:17:32Left-handed.
00:17:33That's the other one.
00:17:35Oh, sorry.
00:17:36Left-handed.
00:17:37Yes.
00:17:38Master Gacha, I am so sorry.
00:17:40I feel a need to be responsible to you and I want to...
00:17:45And you should do, follow your heart.
00:17:48Just letting you know that if you guys wanted to come with us, we're running away from something.
00:17:55And you might get tied into it if like you're wearing any of our like colors from our crew or whatever.
00:18:02We're doing a hot exit.
00:18:03I don't know if you might be better off you and your twin on the ship or you might be fine here, but just like be on the lookout.
00:18:10You see that Lieutenant Agarwal looks over to someone that looks exactly like him, but you see has this like wild sort of like lime green bomber jacket and this folded glider on his back made of like dragonfly wing material, but looks identical.
00:18:25And you see, he says, we can go with him if you want, but we're gliding off the edge of the city right now.
00:18:30We have to find the diadem.
00:18:31And you see, he says, I gotta help him find the diadem.
00:18:33And he looks over at you and goes, I'm happy to come, but I think we're leaving now as well.
00:18:38As long as you're safe, have...
00:18:41He gives you a big hug and buries his face in your neck and just goes, my brother disappeared when we were three.
00:18:48There was a flash of light and we thought he disappeared.
00:18:52Zood is a miracle.
00:18:53Ask him where he's from.
00:18:55Where is he from?
00:18:56You see on that 17 insight, Lieutenant Agarwal is positive that they are the main character of Zood.
00:19:03Zood is something that extremely...
00:19:05I'm not gonna contradict it.
00:19:07...is happening to them and Gamaliel.
00:19:09They might be.
00:19:11And you see, he goes, farewell, Master Gatch.
00:19:14Take this.
00:19:15You see, he hands you a locket with a gold chain.
00:19:18The diadem?
00:19:19No.
00:19:20That's a locket with my face in it.
00:19:22And you suddenly walk to the edge of the city.
00:19:25Wait, his twin has the other one.
00:19:27Elethra walks up and kisses him and slaps him.
00:19:32Kiss, um, farewell.
00:19:34I'm joining the crystal gliders.
00:19:36I'm seizing my destiny!
00:19:37Boom!
00:19:38Ba-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
00:19:40Why are the credits rolling?
00:19:42Why are the credits rolling?
00:19:44He's like, do we need that training for that?
00:19:46Yeah, he really just plummets out of the sky and the gliders have to go swoop and get him.
00:19:50All right, yes, I think he's saved here.
00:19:52Elethra, I got you something.
00:19:54He looks really good.
00:19:56That's pretty good.
00:19:56You can have it, I guess you can have it.
00:19:59Wait!
00:20:00All right, what do you think?
00:20:01Time to make steam.
00:20:04Steamy exit.
00:20:05There it is, let's make steam.
00:20:07That's what we say.
00:20:07Unless somebody had something they wanted to do.
00:20:09No, no, let's make steam.
00:20:11Oh, let's make steam.
00:20:12You guys jump aboard the ship,
00:20:13now with slightly less crew,
00:20:15but there's still a bunch of you, you still have 12.
00:20:18Not a lot.
00:20:19And you guys take to the skies.
00:20:22Can I make a survival check as we leave
00:20:25to see if anyone is following us?
00:20:27Yeah.
00:20:28Oh, great.
00:20:29Smarty.
00:20:30Move.
00:20:31Go ahead and give me perception,
00:20:33if you'd raise for the aioli.
00:20:34Can I give him a help action
00:20:36by also getting up there and...
00:20:39Yes, you absolutely can.
00:20:4424.
00:20:4624 perception to see if you are being followed.
00:20:49Yeah, I think Monty just watches the city
00:20:52as we pull away,
00:20:54seeing the other sky ports,
00:20:56the ones we didn't visit.
00:21:00You look to the city
00:21:02and do not see any vehicles pulling away after you.
00:21:05There are some people on the dock
00:21:09that give a cursory glance to the ship leaving,
00:21:14and you don't notice any of them rushing off
00:21:18to go do anything about it.
00:21:19It's just, it's perfectly explainable
00:21:21as people looking at a departing ship as it pulls away.
00:21:24Right.
00:21:25I think the last thing you see looking at this market square
00:21:28as you head off is that alleyway
00:21:32where the guy with Archie took off.
00:21:35Mm-hmm.
00:21:36Give me one last survival check.
00:21:41Check.
00:21:4324.
00:21:44You look at that alleyway,
00:21:46and the ship is already pulling away.
00:21:47You're, you can, and you can tell
00:21:50that you are doing a prudent thing
00:21:52and getting away from the city.
00:21:53And I think as you're pulling away,
00:21:56there's just an acknowledgement
00:21:57that you didn't get a chance to trackers Quarry,
00:22:02the older guy with the pterosaur.
00:22:04And it's just a little moment of like,
00:22:06I wonder if his footprints are still in that alley.
00:22:10Mm-hmm.
00:22:11You pull away from the city.
00:22:14I am having to drive,
00:22:15but I'm gonna turn to Pappy,
00:22:16and I'm gonna say do a sweep for bugs.
00:22:19Got it.
00:22:19And do a general morale check
00:22:21to see if anyone looks like they could be
00:22:24spilling secrets intentionally or otherwise.
00:22:26Got it.
00:22:27Pappy's gonna take a rope
00:22:28and just jump off the side of the ship.
00:22:31Look underneath.
00:22:32Sometimes they're underneath.
00:22:33Are there clouds in the sky?
00:22:37Heading into the sky?
00:22:38It is later on in the day.
00:22:40Great.
00:22:41Can we make sure that we're above the clouds
00:22:43so if anybody from below is looking for us, we're...
00:22:46Actually, I'll allow Maria
00:22:48to do a little piloting check here
00:22:50if you'd be so kind.
00:22:51It is.
00:22:51Go ahead and give me a piloting check.
00:22:52Okay, that's tools, right?
00:22:54Yes.
00:22:5518.
00:22:5618.
00:22:57If you choose to slow your pace down by 50%,
00:23:02you can basically cloud hop to cloud hop
00:23:04and stay hidden from the ground the whole way.
00:23:07Yeah, I think it's worth it.
00:23:08Yeah, I'll slow down.
00:23:10Give everyone time to get acclimated.
00:23:12Great.
00:23:12It's new skies.
00:23:13You're figuring out how to fly.
00:23:15As you are scooting along here,
00:23:18go ahead and give me an investigation check.
00:23:20Pappy.
00:23:21All right.
00:23:22Get out there, Pappy.
00:23:23All right, what do we got, what do we got?
00:23:28That's an eight.
00:23:29Taw's ending underneath.
00:23:31You're looking for bugs?
00:23:32No.
00:23:33Looking for bugs,
00:23:35and then I will do the morale check after.
00:23:38Great.
00:23:38On an eight, you do find one bug,
00:23:41which is a cricket.
00:23:42Pappy.
00:23:45Pappy.
00:23:45Pappy.
00:23:46Be careful.
00:23:48I got scared.
00:23:49It just would have been nice to study it.
00:23:52I won't do it again.
00:23:53I'm sorry.
00:23:54If anyone sees any bugs, just let me know.
00:23:56I apologize.
00:23:58Monty, as you examine where that cricket was shot,
00:24:00you actually see the bullet perfectly split
00:24:03an exoskeleton of a cricket,
00:24:05and the cricket that was there is gone.
00:24:07Oh.
00:24:08It's just a shell?
00:24:09It's just a shell.
00:24:10It looks like Daisuke shot an exoskeleton
00:24:13of a cricket in half.
00:24:15It's incredible.
00:24:16Okay.
00:24:18Monty, you look up.
00:24:19There is a very sort of a little bit dewy
00:24:23or moist kind of naked-looking cricket on the ceiling,
00:24:27shivering in the cold.
00:24:29Somebody get a tissue.
00:24:33They have that little one.
00:24:35It looks like these crickets are able to,
00:24:36in under threat, jump out of their own skin
00:24:39to avoid danger,
00:24:41and is now sort of shivering
00:24:43and doing a little cricket cough.
00:24:44Aw.
00:24:46I get a thimble of water and a tissue.
00:24:48Gently nursing a cricket back to health.
00:24:51Go ahead and give me this morale check,
00:24:52if you'd be so kind.
00:24:53I'm gonna go up to all the people.
00:24:55I don't know what I would do.
00:24:55Give me this morale check.
00:24:56This is gonna be,
00:24:57we'll call this a persuasion check.
00:24:59Okay.
00:25:01All right.
00:25:05Truth comes by.
00:25:06So this is Diaz and Polaximus,
00:25:08that were the two security officers
00:25:10that came to the McCloud farm.
00:25:11Captain Daughterdale and the kind of her suit mechanic,
00:25:16who was Jackway St. Niles.
00:25:20You guys doing good?
00:25:21Hey.
00:25:22Daughterdale says, voting for duty.
00:25:23All right.
00:25:24Pleasure and honor.
00:25:25May I just say, Mr. Bucklesby,
00:25:26I'm an enormous fan of your work
00:25:28and the legends and stories of your exploits.
00:25:31Too kind.
00:25:31I'm sure a lot of it got blown way out of proportion.
00:25:34The only thing out of proportion that I want to blow,
00:25:39that you'd, the only...
00:25:40It's all right.
00:25:42It's all right.
00:25:42Are you crying?
00:25:46Hey, hey, hey.
00:25:49It's scary.
00:25:50It's scary out here.
00:25:51I want to make you proud.
00:25:53You made me proud.
00:25:55What are you thinking?
00:25:57Hey, you're,
00:25:58you're just starting your adventuring career.
00:26:01Is that correct?
00:26:02And it seems big and scary, right?
00:26:05So big.
00:26:06What?
00:26:06Look, I think you're going to do all right.
00:26:13Really?
00:26:14Put my hat on.
00:26:19And you get to wear that for two minutes.
00:26:22To make it count.
00:26:23I've always longed to feel like a gun-slinging outlaw.
00:26:28Yeah.
00:26:29It's fun, right?
00:26:31It's absolutely exciting.
00:26:32There are no rules when you're an outlaw,
00:26:34except where, I'm a former outlaw,
00:26:36so you have a lot of,
00:26:37you have to listen to everything Van said.
00:26:41Stuart, unless I dare,
00:26:44unless I dare,
00:26:44this is...
00:26:45Oh, no.
00:26:45Not in this context.
00:26:47I'm so far away,
00:26:49obviously listening to this conversation.
00:26:51I'm pissed.
00:26:52I just want to say that I know that some of our crew have absconded,
00:26:58in my opinion,
00:26:58irresponsibly,
00:26:59to engage in adventures that are not the original adventure that we set out with here.
00:27:04And I just want to say there is nothing that could move me.
00:27:09Wow.
00:27:10I mean,
00:27:10other than you.
00:27:11Other than this mission.
00:27:15Diaz, right?
00:27:16Or is this...
00:27:16No, I'm Daughterdale.
00:27:18I'm Captain Daughterdale.
00:27:19Oh, Daughterdale.
00:27:19My bad.
00:27:20I should have known.
00:27:21That's all right.
00:27:22And I'm not even really...
00:27:23Captain is my rank,
00:27:24but I'm not the captain of this vessel, so...
00:27:26Yeah.
00:27:27Mini-captain.
00:27:29Listen, Daughterdale,
00:27:30I want you to follow your heart,
00:27:33because that's what being in disguise is about.
00:27:36So, I appreciate your ability to, you know, follow your duty,
00:27:40but the second something pulls you away,
00:27:43I want you to chase it.
00:27:48No.
00:27:48No.
00:27:51Pulls you away.
00:27:52Not towards me.
00:27:53Oh, God.
00:27:54This happens to me all the time.
00:27:55Oh, shit.
00:27:57Why did you roll?
00:27:58This is a 19.
00:27:5919.
00:28:01Oh, shit.
00:28:03Yes.
00:28:05I'm sorry.
00:28:06I felt sick in my stomach,
00:28:07and that's why I bent over,
00:28:10leaned forward.
00:28:11All right.
00:28:13Yeah.
00:28:13Well, I'm about out of stuff to say to you.
00:28:16But later, if you want to look at the stars together for,
00:28:21I don't know, about 30 seconds, I'm down.
00:28:27Is my two minutes up?
00:28:29Yeah.
00:28:29Okay.
00:28:31Okay.
00:28:32Good job.
00:28:33Good job.
00:28:34Good job to you, sir.
00:28:36Thank you for talking to you.
00:28:37You're doing good.
00:28:39Good.
00:28:39Oh, that's so good.
00:28:40I knew I could send you.
00:28:42Anytime.
00:28:43You didn't,
00:28:44no one accidentally fell in love with you, did they?
00:28:47Well, it wouldn't be Pappy talking if they did it.
00:28:52Oops, birds.
00:28:53Um, incredible.
00:28:58Journeying forward,
00:28:59you begin to look down,
00:29:02and give me one more piloting check,
00:29:04if you'd be so kind.
00:29:05Ooh.
00:29:06Funny, too.
00:29:07Nice.
00:29:08Deep into the night,
00:29:11you fly your ship, Zephyr,
00:29:15and arrive by your calculations,
00:29:18according to your new compass,
00:29:20which is now working accurately,
00:29:21you look down and see the numbers tick,
00:29:25minus five,
00:29:26minus six,
00:29:28minus seven.
00:29:29Sub-Vim.
00:29:30The seventh sub-Vim parallel.
00:29:33Now, obviously, that is an extended line,
00:29:35so that would not help you find what you were looking for,
00:29:38except for the fact that you have a map.
00:29:43So you have your compass and your map,
00:29:44you get on that seventh sub-Vim parallel,
00:29:47and moving from Tibera City,
00:29:49you come over the mountains
00:29:50and begin to look down,
00:29:52and even under the starlight,
00:29:54the stars of Zood are so thick,
00:29:58sort of the arms of the galaxy
00:30:00create swaths across the night sky
00:30:03that seem almost painted,
00:30:06that there is more star than night
00:30:08across these rippling arms of star,
00:30:11that nebulas,
00:30:12and maybe even rings of far-off stardust
00:30:15stardust were close at hand.
00:30:18Illuminating the scenery below,
00:30:21you see a massive jungle.
00:30:24And on that roll,
00:30:26I think what you can tell immediately
00:30:28is that this area that you believe to be
00:30:32where Ramon Siu is located
00:30:34is extremely topographically varied.
00:30:39The jungle hugs high slopes and ridges
00:30:43up and down mountainsides.
00:30:45It also appears to have a,
00:30:47and anyone here at this moment
00:30:48can make any checks they want to,
00:30:49but I'll say the last thing for you, Maria,
00:30:51is just you are not seeing a safe landing place.
00:30:55The first place you went to was near a coastline
00:30:58and it had some flat, cleared areas.
00:31:00Yeah.
00:31:00You're seeing that this is a true jungle.
00:31:04The canopy is as dense as possible.
00:31:06You would probably endanger all three balloons
00:31:09if you tried to land,
00:31:10even if your ship could make it to the ground.
00:31:12Some of these trees are massive.
00:31:13Yeah.
00:31:14Do we drop down and keep the crew up here
00:31:17and they can just take a couple?
00:31:19They can hide in a cloud or something?
00:31:21Yeah.
00:31:21Yeah, I think that's it.
00:31:23Daughterdale seems, you know, competent.
00:31:26Yes.
00:31:28To maybe take over.
00:31:30Yes.
00:31:30Hey, what was that, Pappy?
00:31:32I don't know.
00:31:33She's doing good.
00:31:35She'll be all right.
00:31:36I think she could just, you know,
00:31:38idle, fly it around.
00:31:40She was out there under the stars
00:31:42just kind of like picking her clock and pacing.
00:31:46I don't have a watch anymore.
00:31:47You see, yeah, Daughterdale pulls you over
00:31:49at one point and just goes,
00:31:51Lethra, by the way,
00:31:54I haven't been able to mention
00:31:55an enormous fan,
00:31:57any friend of Master Godfrey
00:31:58is a friend of mine.
00:32:00In learning how to better serve
00:32:01the members of your crew,
00:32:03I know that Mr. Bucklesby
00:32:07is sort of an ex-grandfather.
00:32:09Mm-hmm.
00:32:10Yeah, they got divorced a long time ago.
00:32:12Mm-hmm.
00:32:14If there's any way,
00:32:15if there's any sort of stuff he likes
00:32:17that you know about.
00:32:22This is inappropriate.
00:32:23I'm sorry.
00:32:23Never mind.
00:32:24No, no, no, no, I regret it.
00:32:26I actually regret it immediately.
00:32:27I'm so sorry.
00:32:28I think he loves
00:32:29just someone to kind of
00:32:32softly touch the back of his neck
00:32:34when he didn't know
00:32:35that he walked up.
00:32:36You were right when he said
00:32:36it was an appropriate time.
00:32:39Sorry, sir.
00:32:39Yes.
00:32:40All right.
00:32:40Absolutely out of line.
00:32:42I'm sorry.
00:32:42I need to go take a bath.
00:32:45He's very, very old.
00:32:46He's very, very old.
00:32:49Very old.
00:32:50We have a bathtub?
00:32:50I think they'd be a cute couple.
00:32:51I don't know.
00:32:56Looking out over the edge of the ship,
00:32:57if you guys want to,
00:32:58you can make any rolls you want.
00:33:01Perception, you can roll normally,
00:33:02but if you want to do something
00:33:03that's like a different intelligence
00:33:04or wisdom-based skill,
00:33:06you would have to be closer.
00:33:07You'd be rolling with disadvantage.
00:33:08Is there any sign of,
00:33:10I guess that's what the perception check is for,
00:33:11to see any sign of buildings.
00:33:13Yeah, go for it.
00:33:14I'm going to make a perceptionist for it.
00:33:15I'll make a disadvantage nature check.
00:33:17That is a natural one.
00:33:18Okay.
00:33:1930, 20.
00:33:19Pull up the ship.
00:33:2030, 20?
00:33:21Yeah.
00:33:22Can I look through the spyglass
00:33:23or do I have to make a different check for that?
00:33:25Yeah, I was going to say the same thing.
00:33:26There's a check right here.
00:33:27I'm looking through the wrong end of the spyglass.
00:33:29There's fucking nothing down there.
00:33:30What's going on?
00:33:31I'm so blurry.
00:33:33Quick question from before.
00:33:34I remember there was some sort of song
00:33:37about Straka.
00:33:39Was that from the newspapers in the bookstore
00:33:42or was that from Haunch?
00:33:45No, that was an older book in the bookstore.
00:33:47There was a ballad about Straka.
00:33:49Okay, thank you.
00:33:49If I use the spyglass,
00:33:51I can do it with advantage
00:33:53and that's to check for creatures
00:33:55and objects within the limit of visibility.
00:33:57Spyglass?
00:33:58Yeah, give me a perception with advantage.
00:33:59Yeah.
00:33:59Okay, so that dirty 20 was the first roll
00:34:01and then this would make it,
00:34:03dirty 20 is still the best roll.
00:34:05Pappy, you get your eye on that spyglass
00:34:07and start to look down there.
00:34:08What are we looking for again?
00:34:11Dinosaurs.
00:34:12Dinosaurs.
00:34:12Or the temple.
00:34:13Temple and dinosaurs.
00:34:15We're trying to avoid the dinosaurs.
00:34:16Dinosaurs.
00:34:16Well, you've got to know where they are
00:34:18to avoid them.
00:34:19That's true.
00:34:21That's the voice of experience.
00:34:22Now's your time.
00:34:24No.
00:34:26No, though, right?
00:34:30Sheila goes,
00:34:31back of the neck.
00:34:34Donald Dell.
00:34:35Yes?
00:34:35Yes.
00:34:35You're going to be a great adventurer one day.
00:34:38This too shall pass.
00:34:40Does everybody fall for old Pappy?
00:34:42Every single...
00:34:42Look, if you think I haven't fallen in love with Pappy,
00:34:45if you think that he hasn't fallen in love with Pappy...
00:34:47Twice.
00:34:48If you think Pappy hasn't fallen in love with Pappy,
00:34:50one time he got stuck in front of a mirror for six months.
00:34:53My God.
00:34:58Well, then I am happy to be inducted into this sorority of shared experience.
00:35:05I am going to go do something with these feelings.
00:35:08And she...
00:35:08Again, run the bath as hot as you need to.
00:35:11No dinosaurs here.
00:35:13No dinosaurs here.
00:35:14What did you say, Pappy?
00:35:16Definitely not any dinosaurs there.
00:35:18On a Dirty 20, I'll ask if you're focusing on Romansu,
00:35:23or if you're focusing on...
00:35:26For a better word,
00:35:27if you're focusing on the Legio Rex,
00:35:28you're focusing on Romansu.
00:35:29I think Romansu seems like the more clear goal,
00:35:33and then, you know,
00:35:34looking out for dinosaurs rather than looking for them.
00:35:37You see signs of ruins
00:35:41high atop a series of mountain peaks.
00:35:46Looking at them,
00:35:47you don't see anything that strikes you as a temple.
00:35:52It honestly looks a lot more like obelisks.
00:35:56And at night, it's challenging.
00:35:58But you see...
00:35:59Lightning rods?
00:36:00Power station?
00:36:01As you look, it looks sort of like obelisks.
00:36:04They're not reflective right now,
00:36:06but even under the starlight,
00:36:07you see a little bit of a sheen,
00:36:08and you think you're looking at massive quartz obelisks.
00:36:14These truly huge, glassy pylons
00:36:19that appear to be rooted near the top of these mountains.
00:36:23And as you look at them,
00:36:25you look down to see that there are some small staircases
00:36:31that truly are like ancient,
00:36:33like hand-carved into the stone staircases
00:36:36that go up to these, again, like massive monuments
00:36:39or obelisks at the top of these mountains.
00:36:41Looking down, you see a massively overgrown jungle,
00:36:46but there is one raised section of trees.
00:36:52And the line of those trees that the canopy rises up on
00:36:57is so perfectly straight.
00:37:00And your entire lifetime of adventuring lets you know
00:37:03that nature doesn't create straight lines like that.
00:37:05You would bet that those trees have taken over a wall.
00:37:09Got it.
00:37:11And how big is the moon?
00:37:12What are we looking about?
00:37:13Is it full tonight?
00:37:15So there's a funny thing happening here.
00:37:16You look and see that the moon is full tonight.
00:37:20It's a hard thing to spot though because of all the false moons,
00:37:24all the asteroids everywhere.
00:37:25But you do see, it's kind of a funny thing
00:37:27because the moon is slightly smaller
00:37:30than most of those asteroids, but it's a perfect circle.
00:37:33Got it.
00:37:34Is the moon interacting with the quartz?
00:37:37Give me arcana or you can give me a tools check.
00:37:42You're tucked.
00:37:43A little bit in that 20 though.
00:37:45And instead it's a two.
00:37:47Well, that becomes 13.
00:37:48I think looking at it,
00:37:51visibly nothing interesting is happening.
00:37:53But you look at some of your tools on the board
00:37:56and even like looking at the compass that you have here,
00:37:58there's a couple of different radio frequencies.
00:38:00You get a few minor readings
00:38:03directing some of your radar towards those crystals.
00:38:07It's not, they're not broadcasting anything,
00:38:09but you're good enough on a...
00:38:11They attract things.
00:38:12Yeah, exactly.
00:38:13You're like, the signal's picking up
00:38:15because they're attracting something.
00:38:17Yeah.
00:38:18Yeah.
00:38:18Got it.
00:38:19Okay.
00:38:20Would it be like 60 feet down to the ground
00:38:22or higher than that?
00:38:23Higher.
00:38:24I would say you guys are probably
00:38:25about a thousand feet up right now.
00:38:26Oh, okay.
00:38:27We have the little ships though.
00:38:28Yeah.
00:38:29Cool.
00:38:29Do we want to wait until morning?
00:38:33No, no, we don't.
00:38:35Because the full moon is what activates whatever.
00:38:40Oh, yeah.
00:38:40What is the prophecy again?
00:38:42The power of Manzu is not given freely.
00:38:44All must pay the price.
00:38:46When the moon is full,
00:38:47the bill comes due for all who wield the light.
00:38:49Okay.
00:38:50You are exhausted though, right?
00:38:52Here, I'll try to fix it.
00:38:54What is it?
00:38:54It's been a long rest,
00:38:56if you've been resting.
00:38:56Oh, yeah.
00:38:57Sorry.
00:38:57Yeah, you slowed down.
00:38:59Okay, so we took like a day.
00:39:00Oh, that's great.
00:39:02Okay, cool.
00:39:02All right.
00:39:03I'm all good now.
00:39:05You left late afternoon
00:39:06and it's like two o'clock in the morning.
00:39:08Okay.
00:39:08Okay.
00:39:09So the question feels like
00:39:10are we landing near the trees
00:39:12or are we landing near the crystals?
00:39:14I think we land on the outskirts
00:39:16and then-
00:39:16Yeah, the crystals seem like
00:39:18the focal point, right?
00:39:19Yes.
00:39:19That'll be way too far out in the open.
00:39:21Yeah.
00:39:22What's this wall?
00:39:23Do we want to be on the inside of the wall?
00:39:25I'd say we'd probably want to be
00:39:26on the inside of it.
00:39:27Yeah, so we don't have to climb it.
00:39:29I bet that's being guarded.
00:39:30We can climb it easily,
00:39:31but yeah, but if it's being guarded,
00:39:33they're going to see us landing.
00:39:35And you would see too
00:39:35that the wall doesn't come back down
00:39:38on the other side.
00:39:39In other words,
00:39:39it rises up like the wall of a structure
00:39:42and then continues at that height
00:39:43like there's a raised or full structure.
00:39:45I think that our ships
00:39:47are going to be too distracting
00:39:48and I think we need to park them
00:39:50a bit further away and hike in.
00:39:51All right.
00:39:52Understood.
00:39:53That's my instinct.
00:39:54Yeah, it goes up
00:39:56and then so it seems like
00:39:57this is all remote.
00:39:58So we can just land in there somewhere.
00:40:00Mario, your instinct,
00:40:02again, from many adventures
00:40:02is getting on the ground
00:40:05where Monty can help
00:40:06get through this nature landscape
00:40:07is going to be an easier stealth check
00:40:10than taking two parachuted craft.
00:40:12Yeah.
00:40:13All right.
00:40:13That makes sense.
00:40:14Got it.
00:40:14Let's do it.
00:40:15All right.
00:40:16Okay, everybody.
00:40:17We got to,
00:40:18everyone pick straws.
00:40:19We're going in ships, right?
00:40:20Two ships?
00:40:20Two ships.
00:40:21Two ships.
00:40:22Two ships.
00:40:22I'm wondering if,
00:40:24because you can radio
00:40:25back up to the ship, right?
00:40:25Yeah, make sure you get in your suit.
00:40:27Okay, yeah.
00:40:28Maybe we should send the ships
00:40:30back up to the big ship
00:40:33so that nobody can take them
00:40:35and take them back up to the ship.
00:40:37I see.
00:40:38So we don't have to, like, guard them.
00:40:40Right.
00:40:40I've got the courage to be stranded.
00:40:42How do other people feel?
00:40:44Yeah.
00:40:44I feel better about that
00:40:46than somebody going up
00:40:47and mixing Gordledale.
00:40:48Gosh, how do you feel?
00:40:49I mean, I don't love the idea
00:40:50of somebody getting out of ships.
00:40:53So then we'll send it back up?
00:40:54Yeah.
00:40:54You see, Bert says,
00:40:56Lovey,
00:40:56why don't I come down
00:40:59and then if we need to make a pull
00:41:00for an emergency,
00:41:02I'll get her back up in the air
00:41:04and no problem.
00:41:04Can you do that?
00:41:05I don't want to put you in there.
00:41:06No.
00:41:07Well, it's the middle of the night.
00:41:08Breakfast is already ready.
00:41:10We're having aioli cereal.
00:41:11Oh, my.
00:41:12Oh, really?
00:41:13That's so tough.
00:41:14Just like we requested.
00:41:15Really high protein.
00:41:16It's really good for you.
00:41:17That's so tough.
00:41:18Is it?
00:41:18You feel full
00:41:19for the rest of the week.
00:41:20What else is coming
00:41:21with all that pudding?
00:41:21I'm assuming the aioli
00:41:23is like the milk.
00:41:24It's Parmesan puffs
00:41:26and garlic aioli.
00:41:26Oh, I cannot wait.
00:41:29You see how big I've gotten?
00:41:31Yeah.
00:41:31No, you've done good with Dan.
00:41:33Yes.
00:41:34Done good.
00:41:34My darling, my darling.
00:41:35He's my trainer as well.
00:41:37Yeah.
00:41:38I get right on top of her
00:41:39and I go,
00:41:40give me two.
00:41:41I say, give me two.
00:41:41Give me two more.
00:41:43And then I just say,
00:41:43give me two more.
00:41:44And I increase the number.
00:41:46It is really frustrating.
00:41:46Only by two every time, though.
00:41:48It is a bit silly
00:41:49because we are doing
00:41:50at least 200 every time.
00:41:52Lashing broads.
00:41:53She's as strong as an ox.
00:41:54I love you, darling.
00:41:55So, ah!
00:41:57Well, you do that too,
00:41:59but for the other ship.
00:42:00You just wait on the other ship
00:42:02and if anything bad happens,
00:42:03you go up.
00:42:03But you don't steal it
00:42:04and you don't look for Goldbeard's gold.
00:42:06I'll never tell.
00:42:08I'll never tell.
00:42:08I got him bloody friends
00:42:10in his hatchet.
00:42:10Donald, you go down this ship.
00:42:12Willwell, you stay up here.
00:42:14Very well,
00:42:15I shall become captain
00:42:16in your absence.
00:42:16Oh, please.
00:42:17Yeah, yeah, you can.
00:42:18I actually think that you could.
00:42:20Go watch it.
00:42:21Absolutely.
00:42:21Watch it.
00:42:22Do not make Willwell.
00:42:23Do you think anyone...
00:42:24You don't want me in the lifer.
00:42:26You don't want me captain.
00:42:27I do.
00:42:27You don't want me stealing.
00:42:29I tile Willwell
00:42:31to one of the wolves.
00:42:33All right, it's decided.
00:42:35We'll all go in one lifeboat,
00:42:36Daughterdale,
00:42:37and you will go in the other one.
00:42:39Great.
00:42:40Willwell is tied to the mast.
00:42:41Bert and Daughterdale are in two life.
00:42:4318 of us in one lifeboat.
00:42:45You two in the...
00:42:46Let's go down.
00:42:48As you guys head out,
00:42:49Willwell's just going...
00:42:51Excellent starts, Willwell.
00:42:57And you...
00:42:58Descend into parachuting lifeboats
00:43:00down towards the jungle.
00:43:03I would like a piloting check
00:43:06for both lifeboats.
00:43:08So one person for one,
00:43:09another for another.
00:43:10Who's in yours?
00:43:1218 for Marius.
00:43:16Well, I rolled a two.
00:43:18I'm sorry,
00:43:18you guys are in the same boat.
00:43:19So everyone is in one boat
00:43:21except for Daisuke and Daughterdale.
00:43:24And Willwell.
00:43:25And Willwell is tied up top.
00:43:27Will is tied up top.
00:43:28And Bert.
00:43:29You got a two.
00:43:30I got a two.
00:43:32Plus anything for sleight of hand?
00:43:34Oh, I have a six to sleight of hand,
00:43:35so an eight.
00:43:36An eight?
00:43:37Okay, gotcha.
00:43:39So, your craft to send,
00:43:42I think as you're coming in
00:43:43on the lifeboats...
00:43:44I'm in this one.
00:43:46I just assumed for purposes...
00:43:48Flash of genius situation
00:43:50can help us, maybe.
00:43:51Oh yeah, can I flash of genius?
00:43:52You can flash of genius.
00:43:53You guys are just ending
00:43:54side by side.
00:43:54Okay, I'm like,
00:43:55Van, you're a little rusty.
00:43:56Too much talking,
00:43:57not enough to win.
00:43:58Sorry.
00:43:59And you can add five to that.
00:44:00Great.
00:44:01So...
00:44:01I'm trying to help,
00:44:03but I keep just going like...
00:44:04Ah!
00:44:05Oh, you got it,
00:44:08you got it.
00:44:09Oh, God.
00:44:10I've got the weight of the...
00:44:13Yeah, the mech suit.
00:44:14The mech suit in this one.
00:44:15It's really throwing me off.
00:44:16I'm having to really pull
00:44:17the lever up from the side.
00:44:18It's a totally fine descent,
00:44:20and then it's realizing
00:44:21you are going to have to do
00:44:23something you haven't done
00:44:24in a long, long time,
00:44:25which is get a parachuting vehicle
00:44:27going towards a thick treetop canopy
00:44:31and do an arboreal landing,
00:44:34which means that you need
00:44:35to actually aim through leaves
00:44:37for a limb that can hold the lifeboat.
00:44:41Brace, everybody, Brace.
00:44:42Brace.
00:44:43All right.
00:44:43I can do a squat.
00:44:45No, Brace.
00:44:45This is the last time
00:44:46we did an arboreal.
00:44:47Believe me, I'm Brace.
00:44:49Yeah, what was it?
00:44:5067?
00:44:51Oh, I mean...
00:44:52Everyone prepare for arboreal.
00:44:53The latest.
00:44:55With that flash of genius,
00:44:56you land.
00:44:58Obviously making some noise,
00:45:01from the keys
00:45:02that we remembered to bring.
00:45:03Oh, yeah, we brought the keys,
00:45:04by the way, because...
00:45:05That's all the noise, right?
00:45:07We got the keys with you.
00:45:08Anything else you forgot?
00:45:09Gotch.
00:45:10Sorry.
00:45:11Gotch, you were being so loud.
00:45:13Don't yell at me.
00:45:14That's loud.
00:45:15You were being loud.
00:45:17Donnerdale, touch his neck now.
00:45:22As you descend into the jungle,
00:45:24it is filled with noise.
00:45:28This is not a silent forest.
00:45:29You think even with the sort of
00:45:30loud cracking of branches
00:45:32as the lifeboats descended,
00:45:35you should, for the most part,
00:45:38have your trail covered
00:45:39unless someone was very, very close by.
00:45:41As you land, you hear
00:45:42the buzzing, loud chittering
00:45:45of insects, water.
00:45:47There's, like, streams
00:45:48pretty much everywhere throughout here
00:45:49coming in through...
00:45:50I'm going to open up the comms
00:45:51so we can all hear this.
00:45:52Monty, we are...
00:45:54Remember, there is going to be
00:45:56self-defense that happens.
00:45:57So you let us know
00:45:59when we can attack an animal.
00:46:02100%.
00:46:02I'm pretty sure the raptors
00:46:03are bad guys, right?
00:46:05Yeah, how do you feel, Monty?
00:46:06Are you almost kind of prepared?
00:46:07Self-defense is always okay.
00:46:09Okay.
00:46:10And if I see one and I shoot it
00:46:11from far away...
00:46:11Self-offense?
00:46:13Self-defense.
00:46:13Self-offense?
00:46:14And that sentient, you know.
00:46:17Let's also watch out for the mushrooms.
00:46:19Oh, yeah.
00:46:20Pass around the picture.
00:46:22Oh, yeah, yeah.
00:46:22We pass around the picture
00:46:23so we know what to look for.
00:46:24I need you to keep me focused.
00:46:26There's a lot of things
00:46:28that I would love to write down,
00:46:29sketch, but we're here with purpose.
00:46:32You know what?
00:46:32I'm really afraid of this mushroom
00:46:34because I'm going to mask up.
00:46:35I just like...
00:46:36Take like an N95.
00:46:40It's one of those N95s
00:46:41that has the things on it
00:46:42so it keeps you safe,
00:46:44but if you're sick,
00:46:44you get everything else.
00:46:45Oh, the vent ones
00:46:46that everyone was like...
00:46:47Don't worry, everyone.
00:46:48I'll be fine.
00:46:50Probably won't happen to me.
00:46:51Slowly and carefully,
00:46:54Daughterdale and Bert
00:46:55get some pulleys rigged up
00:46:56and you guys help
00:46:57as you climb down the tree
00:46:59guide the mech
00:47:00all the way to the ground.
00:47:02And you see...
00:47:03As it lands.
00:47:06Is it okay with you guys
00:47:07if I just travel in the mech?
00:47:08I think you should.
00:47:10Yeah, that would be better.
00:47:11Okay, great.
00:47:11While you're in there,
00:47:13if there's any mysterious buttons
00:47:15that you don't know what they do,
00:47:17be suspicious of them.
00:47:19Okay.
00:47:23God, she's so cool.
00:47:25She's so poetic
00:47:26in everything she does.
00:47:28Oh, last word.
00:47:28Give me a little wisdom saving throw
00:47:30so you get it.
00:47:31Oh, my God.
00:47:32What?
00:47:34Okay.
00:47:35Okay.
00:47:3719.
00:47:37You get into the mech
00:47:39having just been told
00:47:40if there's any buttons in there
00:47:42that you don't know what they do.
00:47:44And you look
00:47:45and you don't know
00:47:46what the vast majority
00:47:48of these buttons do.
00:47:49But on that
00:47:5119 wisdom saving throw,
00:47:53what is Olethra feeling
00:47:54in this moment?
00:47:55If it feels like
00:47:57we're somewhat close
00:47:58to where we're going,
00:47:59can she maybe
00:48:00initiate that primal path
00:48:02that, like,
00:48:03interplanar radio
00:48:04before we're...
00:48:06Yeah, absolutely.
00:48:09Yeah, I think I'm
00:48:10actually kind of happy
00:48:11to be in here
00:48:13with it operating.
00:48:14It feels like
00:48:14I'm kind of connecting
00:48:15with my grandma
00:48:16in this kind of way.
00:48:17Like, she gave this to me.
00:48:19Yeah.
00:48:19You turn it on
00:48:20and as you do,
00:48:22the message comes in
00:48:23and for the very first time
00:48:24has no graininess
00:48:26to it at all.
00:48:29And you look up
00:48:32and as you look up
00:48:33with this various vision,
00:48:35you actually look up
00:48:36and see from the top
00:48:37of those crystal pylons,
00:48:39a lens comes over
00:48:41the screen of the mech
00:48:42and you look up
00:48:44and you can see
00:48:45circles emanating out
00:48:47from them.
00:48:48Those pylons not only
00:48:49are attracting something,
00:48:51they are broadcasting
00:48:52this radio frequency.
00:48:53The one that I heard.
00:48:54The one that you heard.
00:48:55I tell everyone.
00:48:57Can you play it?
00:48:59You play.
00:49:00The message comes back
00:49:01and clearer this time,
00:49:02the parts that are sort of
00:49:03cut out or filtered out.
00:49:05She talks about
00:49:06the House of Fuhuyarpa Hand,
00:49:08the Eyeless Hand.
00:49:09Yeah, what did she say
00:49:10about the Eyeless Hand
00:49:11now that we've rendezvoused with them?
00:49:12Because before it was
00:49:13just like an uttered name.
00:49:15Yes.
00:49:15Eyeless Hand.
00:49:16She says,
00:49:17you were discovered
00:49:17by the Eyeless Hand
00:49:18and needed to leave at once.
00:49:21They are very close
00:49:22to completing their mission.
00:49:24They have discovered
00:49:25our ectic research station.
00:49:28Ectic.
00:49:28Ectoplasm.
00:49:31Ectoplasm.
00:49:31She follows that up
00:49:32with saying,
00:49:33and I believe they have found
00:49:34the true temple.
00:49:37Oh.
00:49:38Oh, God damn.
00:49:39The true temple.
00:49:41That makes me think
00:49:41this is not the true temple.
00:49:43Yeah.
00:49:43Decoy temple.
00:49:44Or some satellite
00:49:46of the main thing.
00:49:47Yeah.
00:49:48Listen to that message.
00:49:50You guys move down
00:49:51to, you are at the forest floor.
00:49:53You see that the mech
00:49:54doesn't have any lights on,
00:49:56but as you get into it,
00:49:57you see that you are looking out
00:49:59and it is basically
00:50:01that like night vision coming in.
00:50:02So you are looking
00:50:04and seeing your friends.
00:50:05Everything is kind of rendered
00:50:06in black and white
00:50:07as you move through here
00:50:08with this like dark vision
00:50:09on essentially.
00:50:10For everyone else,
00:50:11you guys don't have dark vision
00:50:13unless there's some other...
00:50:13I have goggles of night.
00:50:15Okay.
00:50:15So Mari,
00:50:16you have perfect visibility.
00:50:18For everybody else
00:50:19who's here,
00:50:20you will be basically,
00:50:21you know,
00:50:22making attack rolls
00:50:23with disadvantage
00:50:24as you move through this space.
00:50:25Got it.
00:50:25The stars are bright enough
00:50:27that even through dense canopy,
00:50:29you can make out shapes,
00:50:32but it is pretty close
00:50:35to pitch black down here, right?
00:50:37You're using sound
00:50:39to navigate way more
00:50:40than you're using
00:50:41like sight down here.
00:50:43For you all who are traveling,
00:50:45now that you're descending
00:50:46to the ground,
00:50:47Bert and Daughterdale,
00:50:48you see Bert says,
00:50:49all right, lovey,
00:50:50I'll wait up here.
00:50:51We've got the springs
00:50:51coiled and ready to go.
00:50:53If anyone comes
00:50:54who's not you,
00:50:55we'll take off
00:50:56and I hope I see you.
00:50:58You will.
00:50:59Hey, Bert,
00:51:00don't be a hero.
00:51:02I need you alive.
00:51:04Oh, lovey.
00:51:05You do be a hero.
00:51:07You can't be anything else.
00:51:11Gorgeous relationship.
00:51:15You guys head off
00:51:16through the jungle.
00:51:18Anyone who wants
00:51:19to go ahead
00:51:19and make any checks
00:51:21you want to make
00:51:21now that you're down
00:51:22in the thick of the jungle.
00:51:24Got it.
00:51:25Now, would these be checks?
00:51:26I mean, if it's related,
00:51:28if I'm trying to
00:51:29better understand the terrain,
00:51:31what we're working with
00:51:32and how best to move
00:51:33in darkness,
00:51:35does this fall under
00:51:36the natural explorer
00:51:37and thus do I get to
00:51:38double my proficiency bonus?
00:51:40I would say this absolutely
00:51:42falls under natural explorer
00:51:43and you get to double
00:51:44your proficiency bonus.
00:51:44Oh, okay.
00:51:48Oh, I missed.
00:51:52That is a 29.
00:51:54A 29.
00:51:56As you are moving
00:51:57through the jungle
00:51:57on a 29,
00:51:58you're trying to basically
00:51:59put enough distance
00:52:00between you heading
00:52:01in the direction
00:52:02of where you believe
00:52:03Romansu to be
00:52:04and put enough jungle
00:52:05behind you
00:52:06that your tracks
00:52:08are not easily findable
00:52:10back to the lifeboats.
00:52:12I'll also ask
00:52:13if you're taking
00:52:14all the time necessary
00:52:14to cover your trail or not.
00:52:16I probably would.
00:52:17You probably would.
00:52:17Okay.
00:52:18Yeah.
00:52:18So, on a 29 stealth,
00:52:20you were able to do that
00:52:21and I'll say on a 29 stealth.
00:52:22That was survival.
00:52:23Oh, sorry.
00:52:24Would you like stealth?
00:52:25Oh, sorry.
00:52:25That was survival.
00:52:26So, survival is for moving.
00:52:28That is your movement.
00:52:29That's also covering your trail.
00:52:32On that survival,
00:52:35you become aware
00:52:35of a very large creature.
00:52:38Stop, everybody.
00:52:41Stop.
00:52:43Stealth check.
00:52:46And I will blow away
00:52:48Farrah Savvy.
00:52:49Everyone can add a one to this.
00:52:5414 for Maria.
00:52:5515.
00:52:5617.
00:52:5717.
00:52:5717 in the mix.
00:52:58Damn it, that's four.
00:53:00God, shut the fuck.
00:53:01How do you see?
00:53:0114, 15, 17, 17, four.
00:53:03I'm straddling those keys.
00:53:05You have the keys out.
00:53:0615.
00:53:06Tell whoever it is
00:53:07to get out and fight me.
00:53:08Like a gentleman.
00:53:09God, stop.
00:53:10I stop.
00:53:10Okay.
00:53:11God, you have the keys.
00:53:11I mean, actually,
00:53:12stop right now.
00:53:13Stop to me.
00:53:14I grab a lot.
00:53:15I grab him.
00:53:16I grab him.
00:53:17I grab him.
00:53:18You hear,
00:53:20a massive shape
00:53:25moves through the clearing.
00:53:27What looks like
00:53:30an enormous monitor lizard.
00:53:34About 18 feet long.
00:53:37dead, head gone.
00:53:44A beast surges out
00:53:49of the upper canopy.
00:53:53Blood losing from its mouth.
00:53:59You see
00:54:00a carnivorous giraffe.
00:54:04And it just ate the thing
00:54:09that we,
00:54:09the monitor lizard.
00:54:11The thing that perceived you
00:54:12moved to attack you
00:54:15or menace you,
00:54:16and this thing struck.
00:54:17Blood oozes from its mouth.
00:54:21That thing was 18 feet long,
00:54:23and so how big is this thing?
00:54:24In normal, I mean,
00:54:25this thing is like 25 feet tall.
00:54:28Monty, what the fuck is that?
00:54:29It seems to be
00:54:30some sort of
00:54:31giraffe-like creature,
00:54:32but it seems to be
00:54:34instead of eating on plants,
00:54:37feeds on other animals.
00:54:39Incredible.
00:54:40I'm holding Monty's shoulder
00:54:42very gently
00:54:43just because he has
00:54:43the tendency
00:54:44into these circumstances
00:54:45to just kind of wander up
00:54:46to the creature
00:54:47because he's so fascinated.
00:54:48Thank you, Ven.
00:54:49You're welcome.
00:54:49Icegate, I think you could
00:54:51shoot it in the head.
00:54:52Icegate, do not shoot it in the head.
00:54:53No, because it's,
00:54:54it's probably just eight.
00:54:56It's not,
00:54:56it won't necessarily
00:54:57You see this giraffe.
00:55:06Creatures after that noise
00:55:08skitter away from the clearing.
00:55:11You see a snake
00:55:13walk away
00:55:15as fast as it can.
00:55:16Walk with legs.
00:55:17Let's go ahead
00:55:18and bring it up.
00:55:19Walk away?
00:55:20The snake!
00:55:20Oh, okay.
00:55:21He walks away.
00:55:22You see the snake
00:55:23has coiled up its body
00:55:25into four legs
00:55:26to run away
00:55:27and as it does,
00:55:27it goes
00:55:28More expeditious
00:55:31for titans.
00:55:32Look, incredible.
00:55:34I just not move.
00:55:36Yes, I would,
00:55:37I would recommend
00:55:38we wait
00:55:39for the
00:55:40giraffe creature.
00:55:41Because everybody
00:55:41remember,
00:55:42these could be people
00:55:43in the bodies
00:55:44of these animals.
00:55:46What about, though,
00:55:47if we were to shoot
00:55:48a fruit
00:55:49on a different tree
00:55:50and then that would
00:55:51give us a chance
00:55:52to run past
00:55:52as it gets distracted.
00:55:54They're already distracted.
00:55:55They're already
00:55:56eating each other
00:55:56and stuff.
00:55:57Do I get the sense
00:55:58that the giraffe
00:55:59has,
00:56:00like,
00:56:01knows that
00:56:01there's a presence
00:56:02outside of the monitor list?
00:56:04Give me a nature check.
00:56:05Nature or insight.
00:56:06Nature for 27.
00:56:09You're looking at this giraffe.
00:56:11On a 27 nature,
00:56:13you don't believe
00:56:13it spotted you.
00:56:15It continues to eat
00:56:16the monitor lizard.
00:56:18And you are looking at it.
00:56:20This thing is different
00:56:22than the nocturnal zebra.
00:56:25It's different
00:56:26than the ember gliders.
00:56:29As you are looking
00:56:30at this thing,
00:56:32the zebras had
00:56:34the conditions
00:56:35and qualities
00:56:36of a thing
00:56:37that needed
00:56:37to survive
00:56:38in its environment.
00:56:40And the ember gliders,
00:56:41even though
00:56:42they were extraordinary,
00:56:44clearly had evolved
00:56:45from some
00:56:46fascinating mineral deposits
00:56:49here within the land of Zood.
00:56:51This giraffe,
00:56:53you see that
00:56:54its fangs
00:56:55are blunted.
00:56:57Its eyes
00:56:58are only
00:57:00partway front-facing.
00:57:03Like, a normal giraffe
00:57:04would have eyes
00:57:04on the side of its head
00:57:05like a horse.
00:57:06This thing has eyes
00:57:07that on that 27
00:57:08nature,
00:57:09you would say,
00:57:09are slowly
00:57:11migrating
00:57:12to the front of its head.
00:57:14I'm sorry?
00:57:14Like evolution.
00:57:15Evolutionarily.
00:57:16Oh, okay.
00:57:17You're talking about
00:57:17over time.
00:57:18They're not doing it right now.
00:57:20Over time.
00:57:20They don't have two modes.
00:57:22No, they don't have two modes.
00:57:23But yeah,
00:57:23you're looking at that giraffe
00:57:24and you're like,
00:57:25that's not an ideal predator.
00:57:28There are no hoofed predators.
00:57:31Something strange
00:57:33is afoot here.
00:57:35Or a hoof.
00:57:36Is a hoof here.
00:57:36You do say there's a lot
00:57:38of fruit nearby, though.
00:57:39There's no reason
00:57:41to touch the fruit.
00:57:42I'm not talking
00:57:42about touching the fruit.
00:57:43I'm just saying,
00:57:44look,
00:57:44we have two options.
00:57:46We have a couple options,
00:57:47right?
00:57:47We either create
00:57:48a distraction
00:57:48and use that
00:57:49to run past this.
00:57:50We send Monty in
00:57:51and assume
00:57:52his natural charisma
00:57:53with animals
00:57:54will win the animal over.
00:57:55Or we climb
00:57:56through the trees.
00:57:57Didn't they not see us?
00:57:58Can't we just keep going?
00:58:00Okay.
00:58:00My interplanar radio,
00:58:03is that still up?
00:58:04Could I see,
00:58:05are there other worldly things
00:58:07happening within 60 feet?
00:58:09Not here, no.
00:58:11I guess we just keep going forward
00:58:13if it didn't see us?
00:58:14What do you?
00:58:14Yeah.
00:58:16I don't like having
00:58:17this thing behind us,
00:58:18but I think this jungle
00:58:19is probably going to have
00:58:20all kinds of shit like this in it.
00:58:22You see that the giraffe
00:58:23slowly walks out.
00:58:26You eventually get the sign,
00:58:26Monty,
00:58:27that it's safe.
00:58:27you hear a sort of like
00:58:29swinging through
00:58:30the branches overhead.
00:58:32And you see that
00:58:34up in that collection of fruit,
00:58:35a number of enormous panthers
00:58:38hang from their tails
00:58:41and grab big pieces of fruit
00:58:43in their claws
00:58:44and begin to
00:58:44A herbivorous jaguar.
00:58:49They're kind of becoming
00:58:50That's like becoming
00:58:52more docile.
00:58:54Jaguars are eating the fruit.
00:58:55The giraffes are eating
00:58:57the lucids.
00:58:58Did they switch?
00:58:59The zoo switcheroo.
00:59:01The animals switch with each other.
00:59:03Oh, do we have claws?
00:59:04That means that the mushrooms
00:59:05are not.
00:59:06Do not.
00:59:06I'm going to start.
00:59:07I'm so masked up right now.
00:59:08I'm going to grab.
00:59:11Everybody,
00:59:12a stone cold snipe
00:59:14from Zack Oyama
00:59:14on that one.
00:59:15I have my bandana,
00:59:16I put it on.
00:59:18The old zoo switcheroo.
00:59:19Masks go up.
00:59:21Who did the snake switch
00:59:22with to be running?
00:59:23A four-legged thing?
00:59:24A four-legged thing.
00:59:25A snake got into a body
00:59:26with no legs
00:59:27and said,
00:59:27I need legs again.
00:59:28So everything is just
00:59:29Everything's just a wild card.
00:59:32Yes,
00:59:32there's a,
00:59:32yes,
00:59:33it seems things on.
00:59:34It's not evolutionary.
00:59:36It's just
00:59:36Got it.
00:59:37The zoo switcheroo.
00:59:39The zoo switcheroo.
00:59:40Wonderful.
00:59:41All right,
00:59:41let's get the fuck
00:59:42out of here
00:59:43and get inside.
00:59:44Great.
00:59:44You have successfully
00:59:45gotten distanced.
00:59:46Your lifeboats
00:59:47are safe behind you.
00:59:48Give me another
00:59:50stealth check
00:59:50and I'll also ask
00:59:52for a perception check.
00:59:53But let's do
00:59:54the group stealth check first.
00:59:56This is on the leg
00:59:56to get to race.
00:59:57I'm going to burn
00:59:58another way for a savvy.
00:59:59Everyone can add a seven
01:00:00to their stealth check.
01:00:01I got a funky nine.
01:00:04Now we're scared.
01:00:06Now adrenaline's pumping.
01:00:07Yeah.
01:00:08We're feeling it.
01:00:0822.
01:00:0922, 29.
01:00:1017.
01:00:1117.
01:00:1113.
01:00:1214.
01:00:1214.
01:00:13Man for one.
01:00:14Okay,
01:00:15so we got,
01:00:16so 14
01:00:17and we got
01:00:1721 and 20.
01:00:18So 14 is going to be
01:00:19our like
01:00:20median roll here.
01:00:23As you are moving
01:00:24through
01:00:25the jungle together,
01:00:27I'll also ask for
01:00:27a perception check.
01:00:31Group perception?
01:00:32Mm-hmm.
01:00:3315.
01:00:3412.
01:00:3510.
01:00:3610.
01:00:369.
01:00:3724.
01:00:3824.
01:00:38Thank God for you.
01:00:40As you are traveling
01:00:40through,
01:00:41on that
01:00:4214 stealth check,
01:00:44you begin to
01:00:45move through
01:00:46and that's
01:00:47adding the seven,
01:00:48right?
01:00:48That's adding
01:00:49Monty's seven.
01:00:50Yeah.
01:00:50You continue
01:00:52to move through
01:00:52this space.
01:00:53On that 24,
01:00:54Maria.
01:00:55Yeah.
01:00:56You hear
01:00:57off in the jungle,
01:00:57you've gotten
01:00:58much closer.
01:01:01Mm-hmm.
01:01:01There's no light.
01:01:03There's no noise.
01:01:05You look up
01:01:06through the canopy
01:01:06and you begin
01:01:07to actually see
01:01:09the roots
01:01:10of these trees
01:01:10get deeper
01:01:11and deeper.
01:01:12They're old,
01:01:12old,
01:01:13old here.
01:01:14You begin to see
01:01:15some rock
01:01:16coming up
01:01:16as the jungle
01:01:17gets into
01:01:17a more higher
01:01:18elevation,
01:01:19closer into
01:01:19the roots
01:01:20of the mountain
01:01:21are now mixing
01:01:22with the roots
01:01:22of the jungle.
01:01:23And you begin
01:01:24to see poking
01:01:25up from
01:01:26where root
01:01:27saddles
01:01:28touch earth
01:01:29are quartz
01:01:31surging up
01:01:33out of the ground
01:01:34with quartzite
01:01:35moss growing
01:01:36around them.
01:01:38You can see
01:01:40that there's
01:01:40a little bit
01:01:40higher quality
01:01:41of light
01:01:42in this part
01:01:42of the jungle
01:01:43just from
01:01:43the reflectivity
01:01:44of this sort
01:01:45of like crystalline
01:01:45moss at the base
01:01:46of the tree.
01:01:47On that 24 perception
01:01:48you hear
01:01:49a distant cry
01:01:51of an animal,
01:01:53enormous,
01:01:55bestial predator,
01:01:57but in distress.
01:02:00And you think
01:02:01also young.
01:02:08Monty,
01:02:08we have to go
01:02:10investigate this.
01:02:11I point
01:02:13in the direction.
01:02:14You all heard
01:02:15something deep
01:02:16in there,
01:02:17but I think
01:02:18with your night vision,
01:02:19Maria,
01:02:19you're like
01:02:20a little bit
01:02:20everyone else
01:02:21is sort of like
01:02:22stumbling
01:02:22through darkness
01:02:23to get here.
01:02:23It's enormous
01:02:24and it's young
01:02:25and it's in trouble.
01:02:27If we can
01:02:27endear ourselves
01:02:28to this animal
01:02:29perhaps it will
01:02:30be our guide.
01:02:30A friend for life.
01:02:31You're being sacrificed.
01:02:32I don't know,
01:02:33but I think...
01:02:34There's only one way
01:02:35to find out.
01:02:35Yeah.
01:02:36I can't see shit.
01:02:38You want to just
01:02:39go back to the ship?
01:02:39Those of us
01:02:40that have dark vision,
01:02:41maybe people
01:02:42can hold on
01:02:42to our shoulder
01:02:43and we can book it
01:02:44or something.
01:02:44Let's move close
01:02:44enough to get...
01:02:45All right,
01:02:45let's get the book.
01:02:46Who holds a piggyback?
01:02:47Yeah,
01:02:47you all can ride
01:02:48all the time for sure.
01:02:49Can you remind me
01:02:50of what this
01:02:50perception check was?
01:02:5210, 12,
01:02:5412, 15,
01:02:548.
01:02:55So 10,
01:02:5512,
01:02:5615,
01:02:568.
01:02:579.
01:02:579.
01:02:5820,
01:02:5824.
01:02:5924.
01:03:00Great.
01:03:00As you move through,
01:03:02so the median
01:03:03of that check
01:03:04is I think
01:03:04like a 12,
01:03:05right?
01:03:06You start moving
01:03:07towards the noise
01:03:08taking you
01:03:09off the route
01:03:09to Romatsu
01:03:10pretty much
01:03:11like a 90-degree
01:03:12turn into the jungle.
01:03:13And as you do,
01:03:15you hear suddenly
01:03:18a voice
01:03:19from directly
01:03:21in front of you.
01:03:22Strange to find
01:03:23travelers this deep
01:03:25in this all too.
01:03:27We cannot help
01:03:28but notice
01:03:29you seem
01:03:30lost.
01:03:31Travelers,
01:03:32how rude
01:03:32to speak to you
01:03:33all in this way
01:03:34before an introduction.
01:03:37With a scratch,
01:03:38the crystalline moss
01:03:39glows
01:03:40and you see
01:03:41the figure
01:03:42before you.
01:03:43I wonder
01:03:43if I've been played.
01:03:45Oh.
01:03:46Yeah.
01:03:47That Italian accent.
01:03:50You had to wonder.
01:03:50I'm a dinosaur.
01:03:52You had to wonder.
01:03:54Just like a nonna
01:03:55used to hatch.
01:03:57This enormous dinosaur
01:03:59steps forward
01:04:00about comparable
01:04:01to human size
01:04:02and says,
01:04:03Welcome
01:04:04to the Saltou.
01:04:05I am Legatis
01:04:06to Romarcus Petronius.
01:04:09And who,
01:04:10may I ask,
01:04:10are you?
01:04:12Maxwell Gotch.
01:04:14Maxwell Gotch.
01:04:16Yeah,
01:04:17he's Maxwell Gotch.
01:04:18Yes.
01:04:19Gotch,
01:04:19Gotch,
01:04:20Gotch.
01:04:20Around you.
01:04:22Two,
01:04:23four,
01:04:24six,
01:04:24twelve.
01:04:26The name's
01:04:27Wheelwell.
01:04:28I'm also
01:04:29Wheelwell.
01:04:30My name's
01:04:30Cladwell.
01:04:31That's close.
01:04:33I try to make it
01:04:35look like the mech
01:04:35got switched
01:04:36with just a normal animal.
01:04:40Okay,
01:04:41pageant three aside,
01:04:42I'm Maria Yonkova.
01:04:43This is my crew.
01:04:45Do you have claim
01:04:46to this forest?
01:04:47Have we trespassed?
01:04:48I am afraid
01:04:49you have.
01:04:51But...
01:04:51It is our first day
01:04:52in Zuld.
01:04:54Your first day
01:04:55in Zuld?
01:04:56Yes,
01:04:56we mysteriously,
01:04:57a flash,
01:04:58brought us here.
01:04:59Yes,
01:05:00we were on
01:05:01a booze cruise.
01:05:02Oh,
01:05:03we're really drunk.
01:05:05Oh,
01:05:06fuck.
01:05:06I'm not drunk.
01:05:07I'm so fucking drunk.
01:05:09Yeah,
01:05:09you were pretending
01:05:09to be a horse
01:05:10just now.
01:05:11I'm so fucking drunk.
01:05:14We're looking
01:05:15for Professor
01:05:16Comfrey McCloud.
01:05:17Fuck!
01:05:18God,
01:05:18Chuck,
01:05:19God,
01:05:19what the fuck?
01:05:20God!
01:05:21It's like he hasn't
01:05:22read the last three books.
01:05:24Bro Marcus
01:05:25looks and says,
01:05:26you are looking
01:05:27for Comfrey McCloud.
01:05:29That's right.
01:05:30Oh,
01:05:31fascinating.
01:05:32This name is unfamiliar
01:05:34to me,
01:05:34but you are
01:05:35from Gath.
01:05:37Yes,
01:05:38I'm from
01:05:38Scrapsylvania.
01:05:40But you disappeared
01:05:41maybe before
01:05:42Scrapsylvania
01:05:43was even
01:05:44appeared from
01:05:45the ocean.
01:05:45Well,
01:05:47we have never
01:05:48heard of
01:05:48Scrapsylvania,
01:05:50but I can say
01:05:50with a surety
01:05:51that we know
01:05:52we will return
01:05:53one day
01:05:53to the glory
01:05:54of Tress.
01:05:56Tell me,
01:05:57how fair is it?
01:05:59Uh,
01:06:00oh,
01:06:01really well.
01:06:03Honestly,
01:06:03the sky is
01:06:04filled with
01:06:05pollution.
01:06:07Can I do
01:06:08a history check
01:06:09for Tress?
01:06:09I'll do one as well.
01:06:11That's one of
01:06:11the few skills
01:06:12I have.
01:06:12That's okay.
01:06:13If you were
01:06:14to go back to Gath,
01:06:15you would be
01:06:15disappointed
01:06:16in what you breathe.
01:06:1716.
01:06:18The Tressian Empire
01:06:19fell like
01:06:20more than
01:06:20a thousand years ago.
01:06:22Friend,
01:06:23it's been
01:06:23over a century
01:06:24since the
01:06:26Empire of Tress
01:06:27stood.
01:06:28Give me
01:06:29a strength
01:06:29saving throw.
01:06:30Oh.
01:06:34I have a reaction.
01:06:3621.
01:06:3621.
01:06:37You can determine
01:06:38you do not
01:06:39have to fall prone.
01:06:40This Velociraptor
01:06:41leaps up,
01:06:43lands on your chest,
01:06:44sinks his claws
01:06:45into your shoulders.
01:06:46He has not
01:06:46attacked you,
01:06:47he's grappled you.
01:06:48Uh-huh.
01:06:49He goes,
01:06:50Tress could never fall.
01:06:52Not will our hearts
01:06:53remain true.
01:06:54Not will the Empire
01:06:55lives within us.
01:06:56That, I believe,
01:06:57is true.
01:06:59Tress still stands,
01:07:01however,
01:07:02only in Zoot.
01:07:03You see that
01:07:04one of the raptor
01:07:05soldiers is clawing
01:07:06at your windshield.
01:07:09He goes and
01:07:10speaks to us.
01:07:10He says,
01:07:11Commander,
01:07:12this is not any
01:07:13skin I can recognize.
01:07:14The scales are
01:07:15as hard as steel.
01:07:16You see that
01:07:16the commander says,
01:07:17they are steel.
01:07:19You are
01:07:20craftsperson,
01:07:23machina,
01:07:24yes?
01:07:25Yes.
01:07:26And you are
01:07:27looking for
01:07:27Comfrey,
01:07:28McCloud.
01:07:29She was the,
01:07:30um,
01:07:31the driver
01:07:32of the booze
01:07:33cruise.
01:07:35Booze cruise?
01:07:36That we were all
01:07:36taken.
01:07:37There's no
01:07:37booze cruise.
01:07:39What is wrong with you?
01:07:41What is this instinct
01:07:42to tell the truth
01:07:43all the time?
01:07:43Who taught you
01:07:44to do this
01:07:45and why are they...
01:07:46I just don't know
01:07:47why they would care
01:07:48and I just feel like
01:07:50we could explain
01:07:50ourselves.
01:07:51Look,
01:07:51you want to get back
01:07:52to Gath,
01:07:53we want to get back
01:07:54to Gath.
01:07:54The professor has a way
01:07:55to get back to Gath.
01:07:56We just have to find her.
01:07:58Very well.
01:08:01You are welcome
01:08:02under the hospitality
01:08:03of the Legiorex.
01:08:05Please,
01:08:06come with us.
01:08:07And the sort of
01:08:08soldiers fall in
01:08:09around you
01:08:09and begin to lead you
01:08:10deeper towards
01:08:11the source of that noise.
01:08:12All right.
01:08:13So you live here then.
01:08:15Really nice
01:08:16what you've done
01:08:16with the place.
01:08:17Yeah,
01:08:18we,
01:08:18um,
01:08:19we actually
01:08:20heard,
01:08:21uh,
01:08:22something about,
01:08:23do you want to
01:08:23say the thing?
01:08:25The thing?
01:08:26Uh,
01:08:26no,
01:08:26I don't.
01:08:27I don't want to tell.
01:08:28I'm not gotcha.
01:08:29I'm not giving anybody
01:08:30any information
01:08:31unless it's
01:08:32absolutely necessary.
01:08:33As you're walking,
01:08:34anyone can make
01:08:35any checks on these
01:08:36soldiers
01:08:37that they want.
01:08:37I'm looking at their
01:08:38weapons.
01:08:39I'm looking at if they,
01:08:41okay,
01:08:41I'm not seeing much,
01:08:42though.
01:08:42Uh,
01:08:43that is a 11.
01:08:44We can make it a tools
01:08:45check if you're looking
01:08:46specifically at equipment.
01:08:47Yeah,
01:08:47okay,
01:08:48so then it's 16.
01:08:49You notice very clearly
01:08:50the armor on
01:08:52the Legatus'
01:08:53back,
01:08:54right,
01:08:55is a shield.
01:08:57That is a,
01:08:57that is a tower shield.
01:08:59And I think you're
01:09:00looking at them
01:09:00and seeing that
01:09:01they don't need
01:09:02weapons anymore.
01:09:03They don't need
01:09:04weapons anymore.
01:09:05But also looking
01:09:06at the helmet,
01:09:06the helmets are
01:09:07pried open.
01:09:09Their helmet,
01:09:10there's no forging.
01:09:12And you look at their,
01:09:12at their claws
01:09:13and there's just,
01:09:15you see that,
01:09:15that the stuff
01:09:16that they're wearing
01:09:17is all like
01:09:18a century old
01:09:20or something.
01:09:20Like,
01:09:21all their equipment
01:09:21is old,
01:09:24old,
01:09:24old.
01:09:24So they haven't
01:09:25been amplifying
01:09:26with any of these
01:09:26crystals in any way?
01:09:28There's no,
01:09:29like,
01:09:29use of the technology
01:09:30that they lurk
01:09:31amongst.
01:09:31You get the sense
01:09:33that these guys
01:09:34are not,
01:09:37and when you've
01:09:38heard about them
01:09:38attacking Tabira City,
01:09:40they have clearly
01:09:41human intellect,
01:09:43but it appears
01:09:43that they don't have,
01:09:44like,
01:09:45industry here.
01:09:46There's not,
01:09:47like,
01:09:47visible thumbs.
01:09:48They don't have
01:09:48thumbs,
01:09:49yeah,
01:09:49fucking thumbs,
01:09:50yeah.
01:09:50I have a hunch
01:09:53that I'm maybe
01:09:54going to just
01:09:55whisper to Monty,
01:09:57who is better
01:09:58at all of this
01:10:00nature stuff
01:10:00and everything.
01:10:02Monty,
01:10:02I think it might
01:10:03be possible
01:10:03that they might
01:10:04be trying to
01:10:05bring us
01:10:05to the mushrooms
01:10:06to get the old
01:10:06switcheroo,
01:10:07to get our bodies.
01:10:08Does this look like
01:10:10we're going
01:10:10in a direction
01:10:11away from the temple
01:10:12or towards,
01:10:13I don't know,
01:10:14fungus or something?
01:10:15Uh-huh,
01:10:16can I make a nature check?
01:10:16I'd like to give him
01:10:17the help action
01:10:18with a nature check.
01:10:19Go for it.
01:10:21That is a
01:10:2120.
01:10:23Dirty 20.
01:10:24You put all
01:10:25of your effort
01:10:25and energy
01:10:25on looking for fungus.
01:10:26You are not seeing
01:10:27anything here.
01:10:29Does it look like
01:10:30we're going away
01:10:30from...
01:10:31I mean,
01:10:32we're definitely
01:10:32going away
01:10:32from the temple.
01:10:34I just don't know
01:10:34if they're trying
01:10:35to zoot switcheroo us
01:10:36or if,
01:10:38I don't know,
01:10:38there's something
01:10:38about them looking
01:10:39at Olethra
01:10:40that makes me wonder
01:10:41if they need
01:10:42our help.
01:10:42you arrive
01:10:44and you get to
01:10:46an encampment
01:10:47of moldering,
01:10:50rotting,
01:10:50ancient canvas tents
01:10:53that have been
01:10:53unwashed and uncared for
01:10:55for a long, long time.
01:10:57You look in the corner
01:10:58and you see
01:10:59pinned in
01:11:01to an area
01:11:02that appears
01:11:02to have, like,
01:11:04logs rolled
01:11:05over a pit.
01:11:06You hear a kind of
01:11:08dull,
01:11:09muted.
01:11:12What's that?
01:11:14Hmm?
01:11:15The noise you hear
01:11:16inside is
01:11:17our
01:11:19soon-to-be
01:11:21Imperator.
01:11:25You're the same
01:11:26people.
01:11:27You're not
01:11:28the descendants.
01:11:29You leave a body
01:11:30when it's about to die.
01:11:32Very
01:11:33perceptive.
01:11:35I am
01:11:36a descendant
01:11:38of
01:11:39true
01:11:40soldiers.
01:11:42Too many
01:11:43generations
01:11:44have passed
01:11:45here
01:11:46ensued,
01:11:49removed
01:11:49from the glory
01:11:50of Tres.
01:11:53However,
01:11:55some
01:11:55are too
01:11:56important
01:11:57to be allowed
01:11:59to die.
01:12:01A sheep
01:12:02looms up
01:12:03from the
01:12:04dark
01:12:0420,
01:12:0530 feet
01:12:06over you.
01:12:08With a
01:12:09wreath,
01:12:10a laurel
01:12:11of branches
01:12:11around its
01:12:12head,
01:12:13and a
01:12:13stinking,
01:12:14rotting
01:12:15scrap
01:12:15of toga,
01:12:17a
01:12:18mostly
01:12:19necrotic
01:12:20Tyrannosaurus
01:12:21rex
01:12:22looks down
01:12:24as
01:12:25the soldiers
01:12:25all
01:12:26Imperator
01:12:28and bow
01:12:29to the
01:12:30Tyrannosaur.
01:12:30I think
01:12:31I bow
01:12:32as well.
01:12:33I bow,
01:12:34but I take
01:12:34the safety
01:12:35off my gun.
01:12:36Oh,
01:12:36wasn't on
01:12:37to begin with.
01:12:38I bow
01:12:39into a
01:12:40wrestling
01:12:40position.
01:12:43Imperasores
01:12:44Dei,
01:12:45the immortal
01:12:45voice of
01:12:46Tres
01:12:47ensued.
01:12:49You see
01:12:49this ancient
01:12:50Tyrannosaur
01:12:50goes,
01:12:53meat
01:12:54for
01:12:56life
01:12:56glory.
