00:00:00A list of the topics, themes, and subject matter featured in this episode has been included in the video description.
00:00:30Hello, one and all! Welcome back to another episode of Dimension 20, Cloudward Ho! I'm your humble dungeon master, Brenly Mulligan. With me, as always, are our intrepid heroes. Say hi, intrepid heroes.
00:00:57Hi, intrepid heroes! You know your landpipe. Off-mic bit? Off-mic bit. That's right, I'm taking the first off-mic bit in the show.
00:01:12Who are you? Who is this guy? Let me at him! Last we left off, we were in the world of Gath and saw the legendary crew of the Zephyr,
00:01:27those brave windriders who first took to the skies above and headed Cloudward Ho for adventure.
00:01:34We met Daisuke Pappy Bucklesby. That's right. Former outlaw and gunslinger.
00:01:40We met Maria Cap'n Junker-Yonkova, the former pilot of the Zephyr.
00:01:46We met Montgomery Monty LaMontgomery, wilderness man and champion of the wild places.
00:01:52And we met Vanellope Van Chapman.
00:01:58Chips Bosun.
00:02:01I spent money in it. I'm going to use it all the time.
00:02:03Use it all the time. There is something about that whistle that puts me right in the world, baby.
00:02:08I am here.
00:02:09However, after the height of windriding, it seems that the crew had, pun very much intended, scattered to the wind.
00:02:16And a young Maxwell Gotch, the seventh son of this generation of the Gotch family, eccentric benefactors of the aviationauts of the world of Gath,
00:02:27has seen his family fall into banal, mundane ruin as his father, Longspot, is shredding the family legacy
00:02:36by trying to eke out marginal profits rather than bankroll whimsical adventure.
00:02:45Disgusting, frankly.
00:02:47So, having been told by their accountants that the legendary professor, Comfrey MacLeod, the inventor of aviation,
00:02:55had gone missing and was presumed dead after working hand-in-hand with someone known as Lord Kensington Cosgrove Murdershire,
00:03:05the Lord of the Exchequer of the Confederated Imperial Republic, and the Queen's Minister of Deranged Sciences.
00:03:13Having gone missing, there was a desire on the part of the patriarch of the Gotch family
00:03:19to minimize the financial loss of her disappearance and experiment's failure
00:03:25by seizing every one of her assets that had been put up as collateral.
00:03:30And Maxwell, having perceived a little symbol on a piece of paper,
00:03:35decided to venture off to reclaim the MacLeod family farm outside of Gulch Canyon, Pilby,
00:03:42where he met the granddaughter of the professor herself, Olethra MacLeod,
00:03:47whimsically looking up at the desert sky from the seat of an unused prototype combat mech suit.
00:03:57Wow.
00:03:58That within it, along with the code that Maxwell was able to discover,
00:04:04unlocked a message being broadcast from Zood itself!
00:04:09O marvelous Zood!
00:04:11Fabled continent!
00:04:13Lost to time 28th of the normal 27!
00:04:17The 27 absolute run-of-the-mill continents of Gath!
00:04:22Zood, O marvelous Zood!
00:04:24The professor reached out, having given a very specific message,
00:04:28which I can repeat for us here.
00:04:30Comprey MacLeod was broadcasting from the 7th Sub-Vim Parallel
00:04:34that her expedition had disembarked from Ramansu Power Station
00:04:39on the 44th of Tahal with assistance from the House of Fehuujar.
00:04:46And something about the eyeless hand.
00:04:49She said that Zood is real, glorious and real and dangerous,
00:04:54and said that it should never have been attempted to go there without her legendary crew.
00:04:59She mentioned the effulgent bi-angle, that marvelous phenomenon
00:05:05that appears to hold the doorway to Zood itself.
00:05:11Quickly binding hands, Maxwell and Olethra took off for Gulch Canyon
00:05:17after a tearful goodbye with Hutch and Artemisia,
00:05:19only to find Olethra pursued at the Skyport by hired goons
00:05:25that were quickly dispatched by the Pappy of Pilby
00:05:28and his faithful ghost dog.
00:05:31A 38-year-old Labrador retriever.
00:05:35This Labrador...
00:05:36Is he a ghost or is he just really old?
00:05:38Has he always been called ghost?
00:05:39He's always been called ghost dog.
00:05:41Bamazon was so cute when he was a puppy and you said your name was Ghost Dog.
00:05:45A real called shot from Dice Gage.
00:05:48He's gonna be around a while.
00:05:51So, you boarded the ship and realized that in order to figure out the captain's log,
00:05:56there was only one person you knew that would be able to undo the algorithmic cipher,
00:06:01and you headed to Scrap-sylvania, where you recruited Marja Jankova,
00:06:06who amazingly abandoned her stellar life as a toy shop proprietor.
00:06:13What will the children do?
00:06:15What will the children do?
00:06:16We hope Auntie Zuzu can hold it down as Marja and her faithful rat Kochka head onto the ship
00:06:24with several bullets with the name Strakka written on them.
00:06:30I'm coming.
00:06:32After which, seeing the crew of well-meaning gotch retainers,
00:06:37you headed to the uplands in the Rusty Nut,
00:06:39where you recruited Van Chapman, who was living a fine life post-injury with her husband,
00:06:46Burt Chapman, running the Rusty Nut, the uplands' first gastropub.
00:06:50We love the nut.
00:06:51We love the nut.
00:06:52We need the nut.
00:06:53We need the nut.
00:06:58Life begins at the nut.
00:07:00The nut brought the community together.
00:07:01Some of the pipe we laid last session was that we need the nut.
00:07:04Stop, everyone, stop.
00:07:07You're the immature one.
00:07:09You're the immature one.
00:07:09Too much.
00:07:09You're all crass.
00:07:10You're just having fun.
00:07:11You're all crass.
00:07:13About telling a story.
00:07:14Not wanting to depart her wonderful gastropub,
00:07:18but seeing the layabouts and riff-raff working on board the fabled deck of the Zephyr,
00:07:23Van had no choice.
00:07:25Is that a full French press full of tea?
00:07:27It's so much tea.
00:07:28It's so much tea.
00:07:29I noticed you changed it to a much brighter color.
00:07:33It feels like you want to say it.
00:07:34So the editor's going to edit out just the lid and the handle.
00:07:37It's green so that you can green screen it out.
00:07:41Van's production got it for me.
00:07:43Okay.
00:07:44Production day!
00:07:45Also, we're sponsored by Bodum.
00:07:47Also, I just want to say, after the last episode,
00:07:50Em texted us at 5 a.m. saying,
00:07:53I'm still not asleep.
00:07:55Well, I've switched to Yerba Mate,
00:07:58so everything's going to be okay.
00:08:00You know what?
00:08:01Now actually feels like a good time for Sam.
00:08:04Yeah, and can you put your love closer?
00:08:06Yeah, exactly.
00:08:07Hey.
00:08:08Hey.
00:08:10Okay.
00:08:11Please continue, Brett and I was wrapped.
00:08:13You headed off from the uplands to search,
00:08:17not knowing what awaited past the bi-angle.
00:08:21You went to search for Montgomery LaMontgomery,
00:08:23who was in the grand congressional hall of the swinging city of Belle Nuit,
00:08:28where he was telling a tale of communing with a powerful boar,
00:08:34and they exchanged tusks and teeth.
00:08:37And it prompted a senator to burst into tears and threaten to veto a piece of legislation
00:08:45surrounding a compound known as widow's breath.
00:08:50Montgomery quickly dismissed young Maxwell,
00:08:54saying that he was no longer an adventurer.
00:08:56His life as a published author,
00:08:58and who's published an incredible series of the hazardous happenings of Montgomery LaMontgomery,
00:09:03but did recognize young Olethra from her Cog Scout Club membership,
00:09:09having sent a, what was it, a pilby mantis?
00:09:12Pilby mantis.
00:09:13A perfect specimen of a pilby mantis.
00:09:15Huge.
00:09:15Van looked at Montgomery as he declined the offer and said,
00:09:19she found it, she found it, the fabled land of Zud.
00:09:25And with that, it was off to coat check, up on the deck of the Zephyr,
00:09:30touching so many memories.
00:09:32And we left off with you hearing...
00:09:34Oh.
00:09:35Hot.
00:09:36Oh, hot.
00:09:37I always forget how hot that is.
00:09:39Why is the deck hot?
00:09:40A couple pieces are hot.
00:09:42So, we return to the subterranean city of Belle Nuit.
00:09:46Painted stars under gaslamp reflection on a massive ceiling sky
00:09:53as imperial vessels, spotlights.
00:09:59And you hear a voice saying,
00:10:01Lord Kensington, Cosgrove, Murdershire!
00:10:03Requests at once that you make yourself present on the deck of this confiscated vessel!
00:10:07A rope ladder descends.
00:10:10And approaching the gangplank of the ship,
00:10:14you see regal epaulence, gold brocade, black imperial finery,
00:10:22the Lord of the Exegger, Kensington, Cosgrove, Murdershire,
00:10:26a pinched and serious face.
00:10:31Looking up, you see that Kensington is pallid and almost corpse-like
00:10:36in the reflective, waxy sheen of his skin.
00:10:41But he still has seen more of the outside world than the eisengeistian brutes behind him.
00:10:48For indeed, that is their title.
00:10:50Soldiers raised under the queen's smog at the heart of the confederated imperial republic.
00:10:57You see soldiers wearing massive diving suits,
00:11:00their skin almost translucent in its wet and waxy whiteness
00:11:06as green smog is pumped in little puffs
00:11:09into their battle suits.
00:11:12Lord Kensington arrives at the gangplank.
00:11:15Well, well, well.
00:11:19Young Master Gotch.
00:11:21I don't believe we've had the pleasure.
00:11:24Yes, apparently not, because this is Gotch property,
00:11:29and you said something about repossessing it?
00:11:32I believe the vessel has been confiscated from the Gotch family.
00:11:38Or at least that's the request that was sent to me by your father.
00:11:42Tell me, have you been in touch with your papa, dear Maxwell,
00:11:46or have you told a little fibberoo?
00:11:51I have not told a fibberoo.
00:11:54Then someone on this vessel has.
00:11:57I've definitely lied in life.
00:12:00Oh, I lie all the time.
00:12:02You look great, by the way.
00:12:04You're looking really well.
00:12:08Oh, the legendary Vanellope Chapman.
00:12:11Of the Chapman family.
00:12:13Your grandfather died protecting a vessel of my family.
00:12:18I owe him, and by extension, you.
00:12:21Oh, so we'll be going then.
00:12:22What's that?
00:12:23I said we'll be going then.
00:12:25Thank you so much.
00:12:27Well, Miss Chapman, of course you're all going.
00:12:30The legendary crew of Professor Comfrey MacLeod.
00:12:35To see you all here.
00:12:36I thought that the days of the Windriders were done.
00:12:40You know, after the discovery of Widow's Breath, a much more stable compound,
00:12:47more safe for flight, sort of revolutionized air travel in those wild early days were done,
00:12:55it seems unusual that anyone would be advocating against Widow's Breath.
00:12:59My companions love it.
00:13:01You see one of the brutes, breathes in the green smog in the suit.
00:13:07I understand you've been here advocating against a piece of legislature, Mr. LeMontGunry.
00:13:14That is correct.
00:13:16While it may be stable and good for ships, it's bad for Gath.
00:13:20What about it is bad for Gath?
00:13:23Is trade and commerce bad for Gath?
00:13:27Do you?
00:13:28Ivan, do you?
00:13:29What's that?
00:13:30Are you on it?
00:13:31What?
00:13:32It looks like you're on it.
00:13:33Oh, it is, Brett?
00:13:34It looks like you're smelling something full time.
00:13:37You're pinched.
00:13:39You're pinched right in the center.
00:13:40You've got a pinched look.
00:13:42My pinched look, I can assure you, is an artifact of my fine breeding.
00:13:47Not, in fact, any consumption.
00:13:50And just general moistness.
00:13:51Hmm?
00:13:52That's also your breeding.
00:13:54It's just the wet look.
00:13:56I had a surgery that evenly distributed my sweat glands throughout my skin.
00:14:02Well, like I said, you look great.
00:14:04So do you put deodorant over everything now?
00:14:07Hmm?
00:14:07If your sweat glands are evenly distributed, do you have to deodorant head to toe?
00:14:12Well, that's just becoming of anyone, I would assume.
00:14:16I deodorize myself from top to toe every day.
00:14:19But I'm not here to talk about my wonderful hygiene.
00:14:22I'm going to talk about this ship.
00:14:24And who is this fine young woman I behold?
00:14:28You don't seem of the Confederated Imperial Republic.
00:14:31Where are you from, young lady?
00:14:33I'm kind of trying to hide behind Maria.
00:14:36I'm so gaunt and hollow with gaunt.
00:14:40It's like a 20-year-old woman trying to hide behind a tiny, emaciated woman.
00:14:46My 80-year-old frame is also kind of a...
00:14:48I'm standing right next to all of you, six foot two, and so broad.
00:14:53And I'm trying to hide behind you.
00:14:57Me?
00:14:58Yes, young lady?
00:14:59Uh, my name is Alethra MacLeod.
00:15:04And I reach out to shake his hand.
00:15:06He's not in a suit, right?
00:15:07No, he's not in a suit.
00:15:08He's in the nude?
00:15:10He's, like, fully dressed in, like, regal, aristocratic garb.
00:15:13Well, a suit nude.
00:15:14Yes.
00:15:16But for his suit.
00:15:17That's what we call it.
00:15:18But for his clothes, he is naked.
00:15:19Great point.
00:15:20And that's...
00:15:22He's wearing regular clothes.
00:15:23Just making sure.
00:15:23So he maybe isn't even on Widow's Breath.
00:15:25He just makes his henchmen...
00:15:27They all.
00:15:27Yes.
00:15:28They all are, like, in the suits.
00:15:29Also, like, in general, do we have...
00:15:31Are we exposed to the idea of Widow's Breath in the past?
00:15:34You know that the Queen's smog is a result of the use of Widow's Breath.
00:15:40Okay, so, but it's almost like an upper, is what it seems.
00:15:43It seems like...
00:15:45Actually, go ahead.
00:15:46I think this is good to know.
00:15:47I don't know how much...
00:15:48I'm also fine if I have not encountered...
00:15:50Give me Arcana.
00:15:51Give me Arcana or Tinker's Tools.
00:15:53Can I do, like, a history check?
00:15:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:15:56I'm thinking, like, Bane Juice from Batman, kind of.
00:15:58Yeah, 16.
00:15:59Yeah.
00:16:0016.
00:16:0118.
00:16:01On a 16 and an 18, I think you guys can both tell that it's not quite Bane Juice.
00:16:07These guys...
00:16:09I relay that word for word.
00:16:11So it's not quite Bane Juice.
00:16:13And I go, why so serious?
00:16:15It's fun in the dark.
00:16:17What you see is that these guys grew up deep in the heart of the Confederated Imperial Republic.
00:16:27You don't think they can breathe normal air anymore.
00:16:30Oh, they're reliant on it.
00:16:32I see.
00:16:33Wow.
00:16:34Lord Murdisher looks at you and says,
00:16:37Of course you are all free to go.
00:16:39I must say, it's very nostalgic for me to be here.
00:16:43As the most recent collaborator of Professor MacLeod,
00:16:47it is a marvel to meet you.
00:16:49I was so heartbroken when she rejected my query
00:16:54that all of you be brought aboard the mission.
00:16:57What was her reasoning?
00:16:59And what was the trip?
00:17:00Well, I thought for reasons of nostalgia,
00:17:04to have her original crew would be something of an asset.
00:17:09And she suggested to me that it would be better to get those that were more up for the task at hand.
00:17:17Where was she going?
00:17:19That's proprietary information.
00:17:22Was it to Zood?
00:17:25To Zood?
00:17:26Well, I didn't, fuck.
00:17:31There's just so much air in that well.
00:17:35That's normal.
00:17:36That's how people speak.
00:17:38I forget how much this is.
00:17:40Wheelwell, is that?
00:17:42Yeah, it's Wheelwell.
00:17:43You see, Wheelwell looks and says,
00:17:44Sir, I thank you kindly to leave the ship.
00:17:46We have to be at the South Pole in 12 hours.
00:17:51Wheelwell still thinks he's going to the South Pole.
00:17:53Are we not?
00:17:55Yes, that's exactly right.
00:17:56Wait, are we going to the South Pole next or no?
00:18:00Yes, yes.
00:18:01Yes, we're going to the South Pole, I think.
00:18:03Yes.
00:18:04Phew, I almost got sick.
00:18:07It's just kind of information.
00:18:08He hates bad news.
00:18:10He hates bad news.
00:18:10I'll get away from Wheelwell.
00:18:12Yes, Lord Murdershire, when was the last time you spoke to Professor MacLeod?
00:18:26Well, the last time I spoke to Professor MacLeod would have been about two and a half months ago.
00:18:31And I'm wondering if anyone here has heard from her more recently.
00:18:37Oh, this is just a nostalgia trip.
00:18:40Yes.
00:18:41They, uh, my friends heard that I was here in Belnoedon.
00:18:45Thought they'd bring the ship so that I could see it one last time.
00:18:50How true.
00:18:50He's dying.
00:18:52Yeah.
00:18:52Whoa.
00:18:53He's gone.
00:18:53Yeah, it's one of those things that's going to be only 40 years left.
00:19:00Yeah.
00:19:01Oh, a blink of an eye.
00:19:02We're all in the category of the dying.
00:19:06Okay.
00:19:06One last chance.
00:19:07Wait, do you have something degenerative, but you have a 40-year prognosis?
00:19:11I'm dying.
00:19:13I am sorry.
00:19:15And so I was wondering if it'd be all right with you if I just took one more tour around the Zephyr before they, uh, you took it wherever you needed to go.
00:19:25Well, well, um, I...
00:19:29Oh, my best friend.
00:19:34Thank you, thank you.
00:19:35Oh, I miss him so much.
00:19:37Go ahead and give me a persuasion check if you'd be so kind.
00:19:41I also am going to ask for a group deception check here.
00:19:44That's great.
00:19:46Oh, boy.
00:19:47Oh, boy.
00:19:48I do have a minus one.
00:19:5118 becomes 17.
00:19:53Wow.
00:19:53Let's go.
00:19:5513 on deception.
00:19:57So you want a perception.
00:19:58We got a 17 and a what?
00:20:0013.
00:20:0013.
00:20:0121.
00:20:01You want a persuasion check and a deception check.
00:20:03Group deception first.
00:20:04Okay, group deception.
00:20:0514.
00:20:0617, 13, 14.
00:20:0721.
00:20:0813.
00:20:09Okay.
00:20:09For my deception.
00:20:10And what do we get for deception?
00:20:1212.
00:20:1212.
00:20:13Okay.
00:20:13If this goes south, I want to do something.
00:20:15Or something.
00:20:15Gotcha.
00:20:16Okay.
00:20:1714.
00:20:19Okay.
00:20:19And now give me that persuasion.
00:20:23That's only an 18.
00:20:24Oh, excuse me.
00:20:25A 10.
00:20:25A 10.
00:20:26Okay.
00:20:26Excuse me.
00:20:27An 11.
00:20:28An 11.
00:20:28So you see, he says, I am dreadfully sorry to hear.
00:20:34What is the nature of the illness?
00:20:37It is a complicated one.
00:20:40One found only in the wilds.
00:20:42I understand.
00:20:43One of the side effects is looking healthy.
00:20:46I noticed you were coughing.
00:20:47Is it respiratory in nature?
00:20:48It's the whole damn thing.
00:20:51All the vital organs are involved.
00:20:53I'm so sorry.
00:20:54No wonder you are so concerned with matters of respiration, Mr. LaMontgomery.
00:21:00It seems that the skies can harm us, whether they are clear or covered.
00:21:06Perhaps one should not fight so hard for a world that takes us all away in the end.
00:21:10But I'm not here to take a Gotch family ship.
00:21:17I am merely here to pass on to you that your father is cross, that you have absconded with the vessel.
00:21:24It must be remanded to Atmany and the Gotch family manor at your nearest convenience.
00:21:31However, given that your father foolishly attempted to rattle off the accoutrement of the ship,
00:21:38we will be effecting a search of the vessel for proprietary information.
00:21:45The late professor might have left some research,
00:21:49which is now the property of Her Majesty's Ministry of Deranged Science.
00:21:54Have you no fear?
00:21:56You would enter the cabin of a captain when you are not that captain?
00:22:02Do you not think that the skies demand a certain level from us?
00:22:07You would tread upon superstition like you are so much more reasonable than it?
00:22:13The age of superstition and folklore is behind us.
00:22:18Legends of Zood are children's fiddle faddle before they are old enough to go into the factories,
00:22:24which by even being able to speak, they should already be.
00:22:27No, I will not engage in superstition.
00:22:30I am a man of reason and science, for it is cold reason alone that has ushered in the utopia that my brethren now know.
00:22:38You see one of the sort of cave fish looking guys goes,
00:22:41I think that Maria is going to walk over to where the door to the captain's cabin is and gesture to it.
00:22:53And as I'm doing it, technically I'm casting Arcane Lock, but I think I'm doing it mechanically.
00:23:02I basically twiddle with a hairpin to make it so that it can't be got in.
00:23:07Hell yeah.
00:23:08Well, if you can get into the cabin, you'll have better luck than us.
00:23:12Murder Shirt looks over and says, begin the sweep of the vessel.
00:23:16Turns to look at you, Maxwell, and just goes, no.
00:23:22Trucking with wind riders is how your grandfather nearly lost everything.
00:23:27Your father was wrong to raffle off the scientific goods of the ship,
00:23:31but I will say you and I have a great deal in common, young Maxwell.
00:23:36Well, your family's loan was squandered by that foolish old woman, much as the grants of our ministry were.
00:23:45It seems that we're all here trying to stave off a total loss.
00:23:50You haven't heard anything about the professor, have you?
00:23:54Maybe where she went missing, where the crash may have happened.
00:23:58We've been trawling as much as we can.
00:24:01Can't seem to find anything.
00:24:02I am doing the same as you.
00:24:05I'm looking for a return on my investment.
00:24:10And I would warn you that, as far as I know, we're not in Empire lands right now.
00:24:23You are not.
00:24:24You see, he looks to you and says,
00:24:26No, we are not in Imperial lands.
00:24:28Right.
00:24:28Well, we do have a lot in common.
00:24:30Then, I'm a man of science, the sweet science.
00:24:35And I go to take off my gloves to show my hands, like the boxer's hand.
00:24:41And I just start, like, cracking my knuckles.
00:24:45My God, a gentleman fister.
00:24:52Well, Mr. Gotch, turns out you are something of a rowdy.
00:24:59Your rowdy's looking a little weak.
00:25:05Go ahead, Emily, if you'd be so kind, and give me a, as you move over to the door,
00:25:10just give me a stealth check to sort of get there surreptitiously as the brutes
00:25:14start to sort of spread out across the deck.
00:25:17Okay, okay, okay.
00:25:2017.
00:25:20Hell yeah.
00:25:21So you get over there, you put a little device in, and this sort of, like, small brass pill
00:25:28that as you pop it in, it just expands into a series of little legs and hinges
00:25:33and sets all the tumblers up at their maximum so that a key can still go in, but it won't do anything.
00:25:40You see that the brutes start to fan over the deck.
00:25:42As they do so, Olethra, under a tarp tied up, is your mech suit.
00:25:50And you can see one of the brutes sort of heading over to it.
00:25:56As Murdyshire looks at you, go ahead and give me an intimidation roll there.
00:26:0117.
00:26:02Murdyshire has a look on his face as though he has accounted for what he sees
00:26:10as being very dangerous crew members here.
00:26:14But you see him looking at his soldiers that he's brought on deck,
00:26:20kind of running the math again as he sees your fist.
00:26:24Can I take a little blade and try to puncture their suit?
00:26:35Okay.
00:26:36Is there a way for me to do that in a sneakier way so that it looks like it's snagged
00:26:41on, like, a corner or something like that?
00:26:44Yes, you can attempt to do that.
00:26:45So what I will set here is that there are two rolls happening side by side.
00:26:51You need to make a stealth check, and it's going to be a DC 15.
00:26:59Okay.
00:27:00And then the sleight of hand is going to be DC 20.
00:27:04Then you have to make the attack roll to actually cut it.
00:27:07So it's three things.
00:27:08Can you not be seen by everybody?
00:27:11Can you make it look like an accident?
00:27:13And can you actually do the thing you're trying to do?
00:27:16Yeah.
00:27:16So we're going to do this action, and depending on how this goes,
00:27:19we're going to have to move into initiative.
00:27:22Can I ask how many people, like, are here?
00:27:25There are about eight brutes on the ship, but there are multiple.
00:27:30I think, Daisuke, you start doing the thing of looking around.
00:27:34You see there's about three wasps, which are not single-person fighter craft.
00:27:39They're, like, two to three-person flying ornithopter imperial chariots.
00:27:44And there is an imperial Murgatroyd-class destroyer that is sort of circling in the upper, near the painted ceiling of Bellevue.
00:27:54So that's how they descended from it.
00:27:56Yeah.
00:27:56Okay, I'm pivoting.
00:27:57I think maybe I'll go up to the person who looks like they're heading towards the mech suit and say,
00:28:02if you want me to take you to her study where she has all of her books and stuff like that, I can take you.
00:28:08And then I'm going to take them to the opposite direction from the captain's quarters.
00:28:12Cool.
00:28:12Okay, go ahead and give me a deception check.
00:28:14Cool.
00:28:16Come on.
00:28:19Oh, it bounced around so much.
00:28:21That's a 13.
00:28:23Okay.
00:28:23You see the brute looks over and says,
00:28:26you can take me to the captain's quarters.
00:28:30Yeah, it's over this way.
00:28:31Turns around and begins to follow.
00:28:34And you see, speaking in Eisengeistian, two others go call.
00:28:37And you see that some of them are jiggling, walk over to the door and begin to jiggle.
00:28:41The handle and start to move it a little bit.
00:28:44Yeah, so I couldn't get it to open.
00:28:47Did you try the key?
00:28:49Did I try?
00:28:49Yeah, I tried the key.
00:28:51I tried, you know, a credit card.
00:28:53You know, I tried to ask nicely.
00:28:56You see, it goes down.
00:28:57It takes a little piston and starts to spray some widow's breath into the keyhole.
00:29:01Maybe this help?
00:29:03That's a really good idea.
00:29:05What's your name?
00:29:06Huh?
00:29:06What's your name?
00:29:07Ivan.
00:29:08Ivan.
00:29:09It's really good to meet you.
00:29:10Nice to meet you, too.
00:29:11Yeah, how do you feel about the widow's breath?
00:29:14Widow's breath is the mother's milk of the Empire.
00:29:18That's so awesome.
00:29:20I actually have to talk to him, okay?
00:29:23So, weren't you telling me something?
00:29:26When you live in the widow's breath, the queen's smog, you are always drinking your mother's milk.
00:29:33Yeah, that's great to hear.
00:29:35We were actually having to, we have to actually get back to a different conversation.
00:29:38A different conversation, yeah.
00:29:40You can kind of, I think they were saying, go that way.
00:29:44I think they were saying.
00:29:45Did you ask if I'm completely hairless?
00:29:48Did I ask that?
00:29:49No, but, you know, I was asking that.
00:29:52Unfortunately, now I do have to know.
00:29:57Did it sound like I said that?
00:30:01Externally, I'm completely hairless.
00:30:03Really?
00:30:03Eggs.
00:30:05Internally?
00:30:07Is that where it goes?
00:30:08It grows in the wrong direction?
00:30:10It's going backwards?
00:30:10Not from the skin.
00:30:14But...
00:30:14I actually am asking.
00:30:17I was like, can we continue this conversation?
00:30:19Can I make a perception check?
00:30:21Yes.
00:30:21Just kind of, the Zephyr, as I know its capabilities to be, versus the ship, the Imperial ship.
00:30:31Give me either history, or you can give me, like, an arcana if you want.
00:30:35Ooh.
00:30:36Yeah, like, do we think we could possibly outrun this situation?
00:30:38Yes, exactly.
00:30:39I would like to know that as well.
00:30:41Only a 10.
00:30:43On a 10, you've been at a lot of book signings, drinking a lot of sherry for, like, 10 years.
00:30:49You're like, ah, shit.
00:30:51I think you do know that Belle Nuit is a bad place to be in if you're trying to do a sky chase.
00:30:56The exits up out of the subterranean city, like, there's a couple of sky highways that go through these enormous skyship-sized tunnels that get opened up to the outside.
00:31:05But it's tough.
00:31:07It's tough.
00:31:07Yeah.
00:31:08Can I gather the crew and quietly just tell them, like, casual-like, casual, so, so freaking casual, go to your stations.
00:31:18Okay.
00:31:19Just a real lean against those stations.
00:31:21All of you noticed six Gotch family retainers begin to whistle as they put their hands in their pockets and sort of stroll.
00:31:29More casual.
00:31:30More casual.
00:31:31Less whistling.
00:31:31More casual, normal.
00:31:34Hey, I'm walking here.
00:31:37And I'm just going to scoop Gotchka from, so casually, from my shoulder and just put him into his little mech suit.
00:31:47Cool.
00:31:47Give me that perception check.
00:31:50Only a 9.
00:31:52Okay.
00:31:52Looking around, ship's crawling with brutes.
00:31:55Kensington is sort of squaring off with Maxwell still a little bit.
00:31:59You also can, I think you look at your old crew members, everyone's rusty, but Van's already talking to the crew.
00:32:09You see Daisuke's eyes are up on every kind of flying thing.
00:32:13Maria, you know that that door was not locked, right?
00:32:16And Maria's right by it.
00:32:17And I think that you can see that Olethra is trying to draw some, the one thing I think on even a 9 you can see is that Olethra's trying to draw someone away from something you don't recognize under a giant tarp.
00:32:28You're like, this is very dangerous and bad right now.
00:32:31I think that you're on a 9, you're uncomfortable because you're ruling everything out.
00:32:36That's a bad place to be.
00:32:38Like, we've ruled out flying away.
00:32:41Like, people are looking, they're getting ready for a fight, but this is a fight with a lot of ships in the air and we're docked on the ground.
00:32:47And you can tell others are about to be found out.
00:32:50So, like, something, I think that dangerous sense would be on a 9.
00:32:53No answers.
00:32:54Something in the circumstances has to change.
00:32:57Do we know if, like, Murdershire is, like, in charge of this whole operation?
00:33:01Looks like it.
00:33:01Okay.
00:33:02I guess, yes, I'll say to him, yes, Lord Murdershire, I can't help but feel insulted that the Empire outside of Imperial lands would board our ship like this.
00:33:18To be perfectly honest, like I told you before, I'm doing the same thing as you are.
00:33:22I'm looking for the professor.
00:33:24I'd be willing to exchange information if we could deal with this, like, gentleman.
00:33:30Hell yeah.
00:33:31On that, Monty and Max, give me insight checks, if you'd be so kind.
00:33:36As everyone else activates, I'm going to say, Maria, Daisuke, and Van, if we roll initiative, you guys can roll with advantage because you're actively, like, standing back and kind of, like, not interacting socially right now.
00:33:49Only got a 9.
00:33:509?
00:33:5112.
00:33:5112, okay.
00:33:52Is it possible for me to hide without, if that person is walking in front of me and just kind of hide in some of the stuff in the ship?
00:33:58Hell yeah.
00:33:59On that 12 insight, you don't get anything from Kensington, but you, there's something, like, you're looking at him, there's, like, a twitch in his eye as you once again say, you don't have jurisdiction here, right?
00:34:10Um, Alethra, you want a hide.
00:34:12Go ahead and give me a hide check.
00:34:13Just give me, give me stealth.
00:34:17Ooh, that is a 15.
00:34:19Okay, so you walk away with the brute and then just kind of dip behind some of the, like, steel wire rigging of the zephyr.
00:34:28You look around, you see Murdyshire goes,
00:34:31Mr. Gotch, I assure you, we are not here engaging in any extra-legal activity.
00:34:41The Confederated Imperial Republic and Her Majesty's Ministries are nothing if not respectful of the various treaties and alliances between ourselves and the fine, swinging city of Bel Nuit.
00:34:56However, material goods, proprietary information is on board this vessel, and it will be reclaimed.
00:35:07I have already searched the vessel.
00:35:10There is not much to be gained.
00:35:12Do you know anything of, here, I'll exchange some information with you.
00:35:15Let's do this, like, why are we doing this, right?
00:35:18We can, I'll put the glove back on.
00:35:21It's quite a scab on that knuckle, old boy.
00:35:24I'm a bit of a rowdy, my father says.
00:35:28Wheelwell has the same reaction.
00:35:31I've just never heard a man call himself a rowdy.
00:35:34Do you know anything about the House of Fuhu Yard?
00:35:39Huh?
00:35:40Or Romansu Power Station?
00:35:44Huh?
00:35:45All right, well.
00:35:47He turns around and says, one moment, if you'd be so kind.
00:35:51And he turns and walks away.
00:35:53Olethra, your brute turns around and says,
00:35:55Margin?
00:35:56Lorde.
00:35:57All right, Lord Kensington.
00:35:59All right, the girl, she is missing.
00:36:01I want to try to intercept Lord Kensington on the way from you.
00:36:04Hell yeah.
00:36:06You look like a big guy.
00:36:07Why don't you, can you come over here and maybe give our friend a back massage?
00:36:10Absolutely not.
00:36:14I wink at you.
00:36:14How'd Wheelwell do that?
00:36:15No.
00:36:16He doesn't look like he's going to be you.
00:36:17I'm excellent at massage.
00:36:18Yes.
00:36:19I don't think he's going to be you.
00:36:20Grab him.
00:36:21Grab him.
00:36:21You just yell, you yell, grab him?
00:36:23Yeah.
00:36:24All right.
00:36:24Who am I grabbing?
00:36:25Kensington?
00:36:25Kensington.
00:36:26Everybody roll initiative.
00:36:28I'm going to use an ability that I have called Vigilant Guide.
00:36:33When making a dexterity wisdom perception initiative or dexterity saving throw, I can expend one
00:36:40of my Wayfarer Savvy dice to add the die to the roll of all allies within sight.
00:36:46Whoa.
00:36:46All allies?
00:36:47So let's roll a D8.
00:36:51Oh my gosh.
00:36:52Cool.
00:36:52Six.
00:36:53So everyone can add six to their initiative roll.
00:36:55And did you say that we could roll with advantage?
00:36:57Yes.
00:36:58Maria, Van, and Dice Cake can roll with advantage.
00:37:01Okay.
00:37:02That's a cool.
00:37:02We did a lot of fun work.
00:37:05I'll shout them out in the adventure party.
00:37:07Our design team is really cool.
00:37:09But I will say Vigilant Guide is one of mine.
00:37:11Ooh.
00:37:13Ooh.
00:37:13Can I ask a logistics question?
00:37:16Yes.
00:37:16Where are these ships, the tiny ships that get back up to the big ship?
00:37:21They are within probably 300 feet.
00:37:25So they wouldn't be on the board right now, but damn, are they close.
00:37:28They're within a round's flight, right?
00:37:31So we're going to go ahead here and we'll go over to the ship.
00:37:35Dice Cake, what'd you get?
00:37:3524.
00:37:36Jesus.
00:37:3724.
00:37:38Mario, what'd you get?
00:37:3923.
00:37:40Woo, baby.
00:37:41Monty.
00:37:4212.
00:37:43Max.
00:37:4323.
00:37:44Hell yeah.
00:37:4529, baby.
00:37:46Wow.
00:37:47Fuck.
00:37:48And Allie.
00:37:4911.
00:37:50All right.
00:37:51We enter combat here on the deck of the Zephyr.
00:37:55You see the legendary ship of Professor Comfrey MacLeod that all of you journeyed on way back in the day.
00:38:03Dice Cake, Monty, Maria, and Van.
00:38:05You look here and you can see the vessel.
00:38:09Three massive balloons.
00:38:12Regular air balloons.
00:38:13The rigging coated in arctica iodide to give it that freodynamic lift.
00:38:16The upper trusses, the ship armed with several harpoon guns, multiple lamps, some rotator cannon up on the sides.
00:38:25Due to Van's quick thinking, your crew is already in position.
00:38:29You have people manning the top rail weaponry and you have two people getting the engine kickstarted at the back.
00:38:37We see a number of Isenguistian brutes around.
00:38:41And right here in the center, that is Lord Murdershire.
00:38:45You are going to look out here as well.
00:38:48Emily, could you point to the door that you think you probably arcane locked here?
00:38:54Is this the cabin?
00:38:55That's the cabin right there.
00:38:56So that lower door?
00:38:57That's the door.
00:38:57Cool.
00:38:58But arcane lock, I can designate creatures that can open it normally.
00:39:02So all of us can open it normally.
00:39:04So that's the door with the arcane lock.
00:39:07So my little like scarab that I stuck in the lock.
00:39:10Gotcha.
00:39:10That was our touch.
00:39:11So these two guys are fucking around with this door over here.
00:39:15This is the guy who was just walking away.
00:39:18Olethra, the question remains, did you jump into the window here or into the lifeboat here?
00:39:23The window.
00:39:24Okay.
00:39:25Olethra, you are inside that cabin.
00:39:27Hold on to your little mini.
00:39:28There she is.
00:39:30Ow!
00:39:33Is that your lasso?
00:39:34Yeah, a little whip.
00:39:35The lariat?
00:39:36Yeah, that's her lasso.
00:39:37And we can see here your mech.
00:39:40The prototype, which is covered by a tarp in this moment.
00:39:44Van, there you go.
00:39:45Show me where you are on the ship.
00:39:47I think I am maybe nonchalantly leaning against this guy.
00:39:52Hell yeah.
00:39:54So nonchalant.
00:39:55So freaking chill.
00:39:58Maxwell, here you go.
00:40:00A gentleman fister is always ready.
00:40:02Go ahead and place yourself speaking.
00:40:04And I think Murdisher was actually walking.
00:40:06I forgot.
00:40:07Murdisher is heading to the gangplank over here.
00:40:10So you and Daisuke are right behind him.
00:40:14We'll go ahead.
00:40:15Monty, where are you positioned on the ship?
00:40:17Here you go right here.
00:40:18Oh, beautiful.
00:40:19I think I'll go over near Van, if that's all right.
00:40:23Hell yeah.
00:40:23Go for it.
00:40:24Do you mind placing me?
00:40:25Just a little bit more into the interior.
00:40:27Sure.
00:40:27As you call out, so you use your Vigilant Guide ability,
00:40:31which lets you add to certain dexterity-based group skill
00:40:35checks, like stealth and initiative and things like that.
00:40:38What does Monty do as he uses that ability that gets everybody
00:40:42into battle mode real quick?
00:40:44It's Pilbby 71.
00:40:48Guns come out from holsters, as that is announced out loud.
00:40:53I go to turn my safety off, and it's already off.
00:40:56And you go, whoa, shit.
00:40:59You're like, this is loose in my purse.
00:41:03Mariah, I'm going to hand you not only Captain Junker,
00:41:07but I'm also going to hand you your ship scale steel defender
00:41:12and Kotchka.
00:41:15Look at the smallest little, the smallest miniest minis.
00:41:20Kotchka has a mech?
00:41:22Yeah.
00:41:22Cute.
00:41:23That's why my steel defender, he gets inside and pilots a mech.
00:41:26Cool.
00:41:28He's just like you.
00:41:29I think they are on the board.
00:41:32Yes, go ahead and put them where you think they are.
00:41:33So I wanted to send, I would have told Kotchka to go give
00:41:37backup to Maxwell.
00:41:39Cool.
00:41:39And then I think I'm, like, putting on a show of also,
00:41:42oh, I already broke it.
00:41:45All good, all good.
00:41:47I think I would have, I'm, like, at the door,
00:41:50like, pretending that I'm also having a hard time opening it.
00:41:53Cool.
00:41:53All right, so you're dealing with the two brutes
00:41:54that are over there.
00:41:55Yeah, yeah.
00:41:56Great.
00:41:57And then I have two figures.
00:41:58One is the Pappy of Pilby.
00:42:00We know that you're right by Maxwell's side,
00:42:03over by Lord Murdershire.
00:42:04Oh, my God.
00:42:05And here is the World of Gath's oldest dog, Ghost Dog.
00:42:09Ghost Dog is taking a nap.
00:42:12Maybe you don't even.
00:42:13Yeah.
00:42:15Ghost Dog's in the cabin.
00:42:17All of you here.
00:42:21Can we get multiple minis of Ghost Dog,
00:42:23but in different nap positions?
00:42:25Yeah, they're all sleeping.
00:42:27Siobhan, would you like me to put Bert inside the cabin as well?
00:42:30He's in the galley.
00:42:31He's in the galley, great.
00:42:32He's cooking up a storm.
00:42:34Aeoli.
00:42:35You see, as you shout Pilby 71,
00:42:37Bert puts his head out and says,
00:42:39are we having everyone on the deck in for the,
00:42:41oops, sorry.
00:42:42And then closes the window.
00:42:44Here's a ruler, by the way,
00:42:45so that's each five foot increments.
00:42:47Great.
00:42:47As combat kicks off on the ship,
00:42:51Van, you are going to be first to act,
00:42:54you are first to act with a 29.
00:42:56All right, where is everybody?
00:42:58What I'm going to do is I think I probably saw Alethra
00:43:05popping into the window,
00:43:07so I'm going to the guy next to the window right here.
00:43:11I am going to try and attack him.
00:43:17Hell yeah.
00:43:17This is the guy over by the window.
00:43:19So this is the dude walking back
00:43:21who's like sort of spotted Alethra's mech, right?
00:43:23Yeah.
00:43:23And was like, she's missing.
00:43:25Yes, he's like, the girl's missing.
00:43:26Yeah, so I'm going to try and grappling gauntlet him.
00:43:31So I use two of my knack points.
00:43:35I choose a creature of my size or smaller
00:43:36within 30 feet of you that you can see.
00:43:38Target must succeed in a DC 15 strength save
00:43:42or be teleported next to you and become grappled.
00:43:46Fails that save.
00:43:47Great.
00:43:48So basically, instead of teleporting,
00:43:49my prosthesis is just going to reach out
00:43:52and grab him from 30 feet away.
00:43:54So I'm going to grapple him down to the ground.
00:43:56You see, you know those little arms that like diamond out?
00:44:00You know the ones that are like,
00:44:01you coil it in and you extend it
00:44:03and the diamonds get skinnier?
00:44:04Yeah, we sell that.
00:44:05It's always long.
00:44:06So your gauntlet just comes out on like three of those,
00:44:09revealing a sub-gauntlet under the gauntlet
00:44:12as the sort of exoskeleton who shoots out,
00:44:16grabs this dude, pulls him in close.
00:44:18He's now grappled and then I'm going to hit him.
00:44:21I have advantage when he's grappled, right?
00:44:23To hit.
00:44:24When you use your nax,
00:44:26as an action, you can spend two nax points
00:44:27and a 10 to grab it.
00:44:28So this is as an action.
00:44:30Oh, so that's my full action.
00:44:30That's your full action.
00:44:31So no attack for me.
00:44:32Yes.
00:44:32But bonus action you have.
00:44:34Great.
00:44:35I don't have a bonus action to do,
00:44:37so that is my round.
00:44:39Hell yes.
00:44:40That's good though.
00:44:41We're not instigating that here.
00:44:43We might just be in grapple territory.
00:44:44Yeah.
00:44:45I will yell to the crew,
00:44:48stop the engines!
00:44:50Aye!
00:44:51And you see,
00:44:51you hear,
00:44:52as the engines kick up behind you at your command.
00:45:00As smoke starts to pour out of the smokestack.
00:45:02That's clean energy.
00:45:03Yeah, that's clean.
00:45:04That's good clean energy.
00:45:05Not like that winner's brand.
00:45:06That's what that is.
00:45:07Clean American coal.
00:45:08Maximum sniffs it in.
00:45:11That's the smell of freedom.
00:45:13Incredible.
00:45:14Van, after you,
00:45:15that's going to be Daisuke.
00:45:16Okay, Daisuke's going to saddle up
00:45:18next to Mr. Murdershire.
00:45:21And I'm going to hold my gun.
00:45:25I'm going to take my pistol biscuit,
00:45:29put it right under his chin,
00:45:30and say,
00:45:31I don't think we've been acquainted well yet.
00:45:36Mr. Murdershire,
00:45:37I'm a peppy.
00:45:40And look,
00:45:41I'm 80 years young,
00:45:45and I've lived a long life.
00:45:46And I'm happy for it to be over,
00:45:48depending on what you say next.
00:45:51I understand.
00:45:53As he looks at you,
00:45:54everything else is sort of happening on the ship.
00:45:57Go ahead,
00:45:57and this is an intimidation check, right?
00:45:59Yeah.
00:46:00Go ahead, give me intimidation.
00:46:01That's an eight.
00:46:04All right.
00:46:05Roll a two.
00:46:06He looks at you,
00:46:06and you can tell that he's just,
00:46:07his eyes are darting around.
00:46:09He's gauging what happens in this initial ambush
00:46:13before he responds to what you're saying.
00:46:15Any other actions or bonus actions from you?
00:46:17Is there a way to make another intimidation check
00:46:20as my action?
00:46:21Like, you know,
00:46:21like if I were to essentially persuade him
00:46:24to give us time to get into the air
00:46:25before we get shot,
00:46:27so like it feels premature to immediately shoot him?
00:46:30Gotcha.
00:46:30I think you have the gun under him.
00:46:32I'm going to say,
00:46:33even with that weapon,
00:46:35if you want,
00:46:36give me a grapple check,
00:46:39it's like, yeah,
00:46:39give me a grapple check,
00:46:41and I'll say that the grapple check
00:46:42gives you the ability
00:46:44to like use your reaction
00:46:46to get the shot on him
00:46:48on his turn if he moves.
00:46:49Gotcha.
00:46:49Right?
00:46:50You're basically just readying an action, right?
00:46:51Gotcha.
00:46:52So grapple is just,
00:46:53do I just add my attack bonus to that?
00:46:56Yeah, you're just going to add,
00:46:57in this case,
00:46:57use your dex plus proficiency.
00:46:59Okay.
00:47:00Okay,
00:47:04that's more like it.
00:47:05That's a 25.
00:47:0825 succeeds.
00:47:09So you've got the gun under him
00:47:11where it is like,
00:47:11the intimidation,
00:47:12you're not sure,
00:47:13you can see his eyes darting,
00:47:14but on a physical level,
00:47:16if he moves,
00:47:16you've got it.
00:47:17Yes.
00:47:17Right?
00:47:18Okay,
00:47:18that's Daisuke,
00:47:19Maria,
00:47:20and Max,
00:47:20you rolled the same initiative.
00:47:22You should go first so we know.
00:47:24All right.
00:47:25Well,
00:47:26I guess I'll say
00:47:27to Lord Murdershire,
00:47:30Lord Murdershire,
00:47:32there's no reason for things to escalate further.
00:47:35We're both looking for the professor.
00:47:36I offered you some information.
00:47:38You have no information for us.
00:47:40Get off my ship.
00:47:41Go ahead and give me intimidation.
00:47:43That's right.
00:47:43God damn it.
00:47:47No.
00:47:47I have good intimidation,
00:47:49but that's really bad.
00:47:51I rolled a two.
00:47:53That's not right.
00:47:55You really did a good job.
00:47:56I have plus seven.
00:47:56I got a nine.
00:47:57Yeah.
00:47:57You look at him,
00:47:58you see he says,
00:47:59pulling a gun on a man
00:48:00and then asking to de-escalate.
00:48:02Strange negotiating tactic.
00:48:04Well,
00:48:04that wasn't,
00:48:05we didn't plan this.
00:48:06You boarded our ship.
00:48:08Well,
00:48:08I think it would be easier
00:48:10just to let me take what I need.
00:48:12You and your men stand down
00:48:14and this will be over
00:48:15in a matter of minutes.
00:48:17I agree.
00:48:18It will be over
00:48:18in a matter of minutes.
00:48:19We're all on the same page about that.
00:48:21Yeah.
00:48:22I guess I'll grab,
00:48:24who's the nearest rowdy to me?
00:48:27There's guys right behind you
00:48:28talking with Mario.
00:48:29Great.
00:48:30If you want to grab him,
00:48:31I can let,
00:48:32can I let go?
00:48:32Like if it feels better for you to grab.
00:48:34Do you want me to grab him?
00:48:35Yeah.
00:48:35Okay.
00:48:35Then I'm going to do,
00:48:37I have a move called
00:48:38quick pin.
00:48:41Cool.
00:48:41I am a pugilist
00:48:42and I'm going to
00:48:45use a moxie point
00:48:47to
00:48:48try to
00:48:49Oh,
00:48:50why am I losing it?
00:48:51Oh,
00:48:52I use a moxie feature
00:48:53called to the mat.
00:48:54As a bonus action,
00:48:55I spend one moxie point.
00:48:57I use a strength
00:48:57athletics check
00:48:59equal to the AC
00:49:00and on a success,
00:49:01I grapple them
00:49:02and knock them prone.
00:49:04Wow.
00:49:04Okay.
00:49:05Cool.
00:49:05I'm going to like grab his collar
00:49:07and then like shoot in
00:49:08for a double leg takedown
00:49:09to throw him on the ground.
00:49:10Cool.
00:49:10Go ahead.
00:49:10Give me the roll.
00:49:13Not great,
00:49:13but I have a plus 10.
00:49:14Athletics 15.
00:49:1615 does not
00:49:17eat his armor class.
00:49:19You go to sweep his legs
00:49:21and as you go to sweep,
00:49:22he leaps over,
00:49:24puts your fist
00:49:25that had him by the shoulder
00:49:26that it now just has his coat
00:49:27and he swings under it
00:49:29getting close to you
00:49:30and just,
00:49:31you can hear the venom
00:49:32in his voice
00:49:32as he goes,
00:49:34never get pinned
00:49:35by a fist.
00:49:36You have to wake up
00:49:37early in the morning
00:49:38to pull them all over my eyes.
00:49:40I'll wake up at 5 a.m.
00:49:41every day
00:49:42and do a thousand squats.
00:49:44That's just a bonus action.
00:49:45I'm going to take,
00:49:49try again to grapple.
00:49:51Cool.
00:49:52So I'll make an attack
00:49:55that is a grapple.
00:49:56Oh, that one is way better.
00:49:5828.
00:49:59Oh, you got him grappled
00:50:00for sure.
00:50:00Okay, so I grab him
00:50:01and that time,
00:50:02or I can't pin him that time,
00:50:04so this time
00:50:04I just have him grappled.
00:50:05Great.
00:50:05And then I think
00:50:07that's pretty much
00:50:08all I can do.
00:50:09I'm just gonna hang on
00:50:10to here.
00:50:11Hell yeah.
00:50:12Maria, that is you.
00:50:13Maria is sweating
00:50:15at the palms
00:50:16because she's seeing
00:50:17everyone going
00:50:17to their stations
00:50:18and no one is at the helm.
00:50:21But she also feels
00:50:22as though this bad luck
00:50:23was brought upon
00:50:24the Zephyr
00:50:26by her audacity
00:50:29to return to the sky.
00:50:31So I'm gonna turn
00:50:32to Monty and say,
00:50:34Monty,
00:50:34I'm twice cursed.
00:50:36I can't fly the ship.
00:50:37You must fly the ship.
00:50:39Oh.
00:50:40All right.
00:50:41Someone needs to fly the ship.
00:50:42Junker, I cannot fly the ship.
00:50:44And I'm poisoned meat.
00:50:45You fly the ship.
00:50:46You're the captain.
00:50:47I used to.
00:50:48And then it went really bad.
00:50:50And it seems as though
00:50:51I've courted the same luck
00:50:52and brought it down
00:50:53on all of you.
00:50:54Hey, there's only one way
00:50:55things that are really bad
00:50:57can get really good.
00:50:59And that's by doing them
00:51:00really good.
00:51:01Just like his first few books.
00:51:04What's your problem, man?
00:51:06I'm gonna need a battle action
00:51:10as things are popping off
00:51:11from Emily.
00:51:12Junker, you can do this.
00:51:13So, okay.
00:51:15With that pep talk.
00:51:16Okay.
00:51:16I think I'm doomed.
00:51:17But if you believe in me,
00:51:19I'm gonna choose
00:51:19your narrative over mine.
00:51:22And I think I am going to...
00:51:24I'm sending Kachka
00:51:25as backup for Maxwell.
00:51:27I want to do pyrotechnics.
00:51:31But what I basically want to do...
00:51:33You said that there's
00:51:33ships hovering around this?
00:51:35Yes.
00:51:35It's that thing where
00:51:36the group has come
00:51:37to board your vessel.
00:51:39It looks like these ships
00:51:40are protecting
00:51:42their ground crew
00:51:44from outside influence
00:51:46and are noticing now
00:51:48that things are going bad
00:51:49on the ship.
00:51:49Okay.
00:51:50So what I want to do
00:51:51is I want to shoot my gun
00:51:52into our own steam
00:51:54to cast pyrotechnics,
00:51:57which is smoke,
00:51:57to obscure their vision
00:52:01from what's going on
00:52:02on the ship.
00:52:02Hell yes.
00:52:04And then I'm going to use
00:52:05my movement
00:52:05to look back at Monty
00:52:07one last time
00:52:08and just be like,
00:52:09God, his words move me.
00:52:11And I'm going to jump
00:52:13into the ship before...
00:52:14Or jump into the helm.
00:52:16Before I do,
00:52:17I want to lean out
00:52:18and do another
00:52:19sort of like...
00:52:21Like what Monty did
00:52:24where he shouted out a code.
00:52:25I basically want
00:52:26our code for brace,
00:52:28basically.
00:52:29Cool.
00:52:29And I'm going to say like,
00:52:30hey, everybody,
00:52:31let's redo what we did
00:52:33when we quested
00:52:34for the fruit of immortality.
00:52:36Remember that move?
00:52:38Roger, roger, captain.
00:52:40Alethra, you have no clue.
00:52:41What?
00:52:43So basically that...
00:52:44You kind of had to be there.
00:52:45As soon as I see
00:52:46my people brace,
00:52:48then I want to do
00:52:49an emergency rise.
00:52:50A very precariously
00:52:52holding it, dude.
00:52:52Yeah.
00:52:53Unbelievable.
00:52:54With the engines on,
00:52:55so Van and Maria
00:52:56already working side by side again.
00:52:57The engine kicks on.
00:52:59Emergency rise.
00:53:00We are going to run that
00:53:01right now.
00:53:03On an emergency rise.
00:53:05Creatures that aren't
00:53:06firmly braced
00:53:06or less than they make
00:53:07a DC-15 dexterity saving throw
00:53:08with disadvantage
00:53:09becoming prone on a failure.
00:53:11So your gun
00:53:13goes in the air.
00:53:14A shot goes into the smokestack
00:53:16and you can see
00:53:17some chemical agent
00:53:18as the canister ruptures
00:53:20and the smoke,
00:53:21almost like those
00:53:22sponge sink toys,
00:53:24just...
00:53:25Instead of going up,
00:53:26it's going sideways
00:53:27and falling down.
00:53:28That was the most
00:53:29I'm a dad reference.
00:53:32Almost like that neon foam
00:53:34you play with in the bath.
00:53:35It's like...
00:53:37The thing we all know about.
00:53:40We all know about bath foam.
00:53:42I'm filling it with the neon foam.
00:53:44There's going to be
00:53:44so many times this season
00:53:45where I'm like,
00:53:46as the bullet enters his stomach,
00:53:48it bursts
00:53:49like a bag of applesauce.
00:53:52Like Bluey,
00:53:53jumping onto that table.
00:53:54Good episode of Bluey.
00:53:57I'm going to say
00:53:58as you shout that out,
00:53:59you guys all have advantage
00:54:01on the dexterity save.
00:54:04I will need
00:54:05dex saves from
00:54:06Olethra and Max.
00:54:07I'm hidden inside that room.
00:54:09Yes.
00:54:09So if I get knock prone,
00:54:11it's not that big of a deal, right?
00:54:12No one's in there with me.
00:54:12It doesn't take half
00:54:13for movement.
00:54:13Got it.
00:54:14I am true of 20.
00:54:15Woo!
00:54:15Because of my subclass,
00:54:17when I have somebody grappled,
00:54:19I get quarter cover.
00:54:20Yes.
00:54:21Doesn't cover add
00:54:22to dex saving throws, too?
00:54:23I thought that was a thing.
00:54:24Cover, I don't think
00:54:25it only adds to AC.
00:54:27Let me double check that.
00:54:29Also natural 20.
00:54:30Dirty 20.
00:54:31I also got a dirty 20.
00:54:32Woo!
00:54:33Just like the quest for immortality.
00:54:34We all remember.
00:54:36We know exactly what to do.
00:54:37You're right.
00:54:38And dexterity saving throws.
00:54:39That's sort of funny.
00:54:40Plus two?
00:54:40Plus two.
00:54:41Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:54:41I'm bracing myself on him.
00:54:43Yeah, sorry, guys.
00:54:43I just figured maybe
00:54:44some of the combatants
00:54:45would go from it.
00:54:46It's great.
00:54:47Okay.
00:54:48That's not great,
00:54:49but it's fine.
00:54:5014 over here.
00:54:5214.
00:54:52Max, you hit the deck.
00:54:55Wow.
00:54:56Sorry, Maxwell.
00:54:58Max hits the deck.
00:54:59Every single
00:55:00Gotsh family crew member
00:55:02fails their save.
00:55:04So as you can
00:55:04share experiences,
00:55:06references within
00:55:07the past day or so,
00:55:09or within Monty's
00:55:11first three books.
00:55:12We gotta get this period of time.
00:55:13You, inside the galley,
00:55:14you hear,
00:55:15you hear,
00:55:16are we headed out?
00:55:17Blah!
00:55:18Oh, he slipped on his own
00:55:20sick, I think.
00:55:21Ghost dog, don't eat it.
00:55:22Bird makes it.
00:55:23Oh, yeah, he does.
00:55:24He's so small,
00:55:25he's low to the ground.
00:55:26He's low to the ground.
00:55:26What's that?
00:55:27Roll for ghost dog.
00:55:27Roll for ghost dog.
00:55:29Nine.
00:55:30Ghost dog is assumed prone
00:55:32unless stated otherwise.
00:55:34He stays prone.
00:55:34He falls up straight.
00:55:36He can't fall.
00:55:36Okay, amazing.
00:55:39Maria, you see the ship.
00:55:41So there's,
00:55:42what every other wasp sees
00:55:44is this huge,
00:55:46sudden cloud of smoke.
00:55:48How big is pyrotechnics?
00:55:49How big does the smoke get?
00:55:5020 foot radius.
00:55:5120 foot radius, cool.
00:55:52So 20 foot radius,
00:55:54shoots out in all directions.
00:55:56And as it does,
00:55:57it, this like stack of smoke
00:55:59as the ship rises up.
00:56:01So it almost looks like
00:56:02a giant smoky hand
00:56:04suddenly pushes the ship
00:56:05upwards off the ground.
00:56:07As it does so,
00:56:09Maria, taking the helm
00:56:11once again,
00:56:12I'm going to say,
00:56:13go ahead.
00:56:14You can give me wisdom
00:56:14or charisma,
00:56:15whatever you feel
00:56:15is more appropriate
00:56:16for Maria's state
00:56:17that she's in.
00:56:19I think it's probably wisdom.
00:56:21Okay.
00:56:22Okay.
00:56:24All right, Maria.
00:56:25Okay, old girl.
00:56:27It's a 17 on the die.
00:56:29Hell yes.
00:56:29That's right.
00:56:31You know what?
00:56:31I'm sick of listening to myself.
00:56:33I listen to Monty now.
00:56:34Once again,
00:56:38behind the Zephyr,
00:56:39the first time you did this,
00:56:41you were 18 years old.
00:56:43And up you go
00:56:44towards the painted sky
00:56:45of Bel-Wheat.
00:56:46Whoosh!
00:56:47Towards the sky.
00:56:48You get to the point now
00:56:50where the tops of skyscrapers
00:56:52are like the top of an ocean to you.
00:56:55And you look at over half
00:56:57of the rooftops you can see
00:56:59are having private swing
00:57:01dancing clubs on them.
00:57:02So it is just a sea of people
00:57:04dancing on rooftops up here.
00:57:06And then a few
00:57:06Eisengeist-ian wasps.
00:57:08And then their destroyer
00:57:10sort of off in the distance.
00:57:11Greatest view in the world.
00:57:13And that is going to be the crew.
00:57:15All of them use their action
00:57:16to stand up.
00:57:18Good work, everyone.
00:57:20Chill.
00:57:21Chill.
00:57:21Oh, boy.
00:57:22Did any of the bad guys
00:57:25fall down, Cofros?
00:57:27Oh, I should probably do that one.
00:57:29That was my hope with you.
00:57:29You didn't want just your guys
00:57:31to fall down?
00:57:32Funnily enough.
00:57:33Funnily enough.
00:57:34Murder should stay standing,
00:57:36which is hilarious
00:57:36because he's still grappled.
00:57:37So you've got him,
00:57:39but you're on your back.
00:57:40I have you.
00:57:41I have him in jujitsu.
00:57:43I have.
00:57:43Guard.
00:57:44To his head.
00:57:46It doesn't look like it,
00:57:47but I have you.
00:57:48He's going for the arm bar.
00:57:49Go for the arm bar.
00:57:50It's jujitsu.
00:57:51I'm going to...
00:57:52Yeah, you invent jujitsu.
00:57:54I'm in a dominant position right now.
00:57:56I know it doesn't look like it.
00:57:57I'm just butt scooting towards him.
00:57:59Hey.
00:58:00Sort of hanging upside down.
00:58:02Hanging upside down,
00:58:03holding onto his ankle.
00:58:03The tiniest little butt scoots.
00:58:04Yeah, just keep doing
00:58:05little butt scoots.
00:58:06Hell yeah.
00:58:06Okay, this guy back...
00:58:08Actually, these two go prone up here,
00:58:11and one of the guys by the door
00:58:14goes prone.
00:58:15Cool.
00:58:15Everyone, all the other brutes,
00:58:16you see, they're pretty solid.
00:58:17They end up making it.
00:58:19Murdisher's still up,
00:58:20and that is going to be...
00:58:22Monty, that is your turn.
00:58:23Okay.
00:58:25Ooh, let me see.
00:58:27All right.
00:58:29Mm-hmm.
00:58:30Can I make a history check?
00:58:32There's something that Murdisher said
00:58:33about the treaty between
00:58:36Bel Nuit and the Empire
00:58:38that will the dreadnought shoot on us?
00:58:42Give me a history check.
00:58:45Only an eight.
00:58:46Okay.
00:58:47On that check,
00:58:49I don't think you know the legal reality.
00:58:51Okay.
00:58:51I think that you are probably reading
00:58:53the reality here,
00:58:54which is that
00:58:55the Confederated Imperial Republic
00:58:57did not become
00:58:58the Confederated Imperial Republic
00:59:00by observing international order.
00:59:03Mm-hmm.
00:59:03However,
00:59:04it is also probably true
00:59:06that you weren't all murdered
00:59:09on the spot
00:59:10or arrested for a reason.
00:59:12I think that you can sense
00:59:13that there's a lot of ambiguity here.
00:59:15Mm-hmm.
00:59:15But what,
00:59:16if you can make use of that ambiguity,
00:59:18you don't know.
00:59:20The question is just,
00:59:21how much do we make this
00:59:22like Pilby 71?
00:59:23And what?
00:59:24What are you talking about?
00:59:25Pilby.
00:59:26There was a time in Pilby
00:59:27back in 71
00:59:28where we,
00:59:29where a very similar thing happened.
00:59:31Yeah, let's do it.
00:59:33I'm going to walk up
00:59:34to the one
00:59:35that Van has grappled.
00:59:37Mm-hmm.
00:59:37While I do,
00:59:38I'm going to take out of my pack
00:59:40that I got at Code Check
00:59:41my shotgun Fortuno
00:59:43and my,
00:59:44my cap.
00:59:45Mm-hmm.
00:59:45Put my cap on,
00:59:46put my shotgun into the glass
00:59:48and fire twice.
00:59:49Oh, so we're doing it.
00:59:51We're doing it, baby.
00:59:53Go ahead,
00:59:53give me an attack roll.
00:59:54You got it.
00:59:56Woo!
00:59:57Are we going to kill
00:59:58Brennan's bag guy?
00:59:59That's a nat 20
01:00:00and a 12.
01:00:06Okay.
01:00:06Olethra's right there
01:00:07in the window watching.
01:00:10And I'm going to use
01:00:11a bonus action
01:00:12to make,
01:00:13to use Slayer's Prey.
01:00:15Designate a creature
01:00:16within 60 feet
01:00:17as the target.
01:00:18The first time you make
01:00:19a weapon attack
01:00:20against this creature,
01:00:21you add a D6
01:00:22to the damage.
01:00:23Hell yes.
01:00:25Let's go ahead
01:00:26and roll damage, man.
01:00:26Wow.
01:00:27So that's 20.
01:00:28You're doing Slayer's Prey
01:00:29as your bonus action.
01:00:30Yep.
01:00:33First attack.
01:00:34Oh my God.
01:00:3610,
01:00:3714,
01:00:4122
01:00:43plus
01:00:44three
01:00:44for 25 points
01:00:46of damage.
01:00:46Okay.
01:00:47Still up,
01:00:48but barely.
01:00:49Okay.
01:00:50And then you have
01:00:51that second,
01:00:52and the 12 also hits.
01:00:5312 also hits.
01:00:55That'll do 10.
01:00:56Van,
01:00:57Monty,
01:00:58you can tell,
01:00:59looks around,
01:01:00like looking at the smoke,
01:01:01the other destroyer,
01:01:02and makes the call
01:01:04and walks up
01:01:05and goes,
01:01:06bam!
01:01:06And blasts the glass
01:01:08off the front
01:01:09of this guy's suit
01:01:10as he goes,
01:01:10as he opens his mouth,
01:01:13filled with hair.
01:01:14You see...
01:01:15That's where they hide.
01:01:17Oh, truly horrifying.
01:01:21Beautiful, glossy hair.
01:01:22It ain't supposed to go that way.
01:01:23Oh, it's so beautiful.
01:01:25They shampoo it.
01:01:27It's a shampoo mouthwash.
01:01:29That's the most horrifying thing
01:01:31I've ever created.
01:01:32That's truly bio my God.
01:01:33A mouthful of hair
01:01:34on a wet, hairless man.
01:01:35And you see,
01:01:36and collapses to the ground.
01:01:38And he is unconscious.
01:01:40He's out.
01:01:40Ooh!
01:01:42And I'll say, too,
01:01:42going for the glass,
01:01:43I think,
01:01:43is unconscious, right?
01:01:45Like, you're doing the damage
01:01:46to neutralize him,
01:01:47but he is, like,
01:01:48gasping on the deck.
01:01:49Awesome.
01:01:50That's Monty.
01:01:51Oh, Lethra,
01:01:51that's going to be you.
01:01:52Okay.
01:01:53We have some coverage.
01:01:55Was there smog
01:01:56or was that somewhere else?
01:01:58The smoke coming off the ship.
01:01:59So you have partial cover
01:02:01from enemy ships attacking you
01:02:04from Mario's pirate.
01:02:04Oh, I got you.
01:02:05I got you.
01:02:05Okay, great.
01:02:06I would love to...
01:02:08With dash,
01:02:09will that double my 15 movement
01:02:11because I have to get up?
01:02:12Or will I have 45?
01:02:13You'll have 45.
01:02:14Okay.
01:02:15I would like to pop out of this window
01:02:17and run to this side window
01:02:20on the captain's quarters.
01:02:22Hell yes.
01:02:23It looks like I'm just passing
01:02:24someone who is completely dead
01:02:26and one person who's prone,
01:02:27so I'm hoping to stealth past them.
01:02:29Gotcha, gotcha.
01:02:30Okay.
01:02:31From the window...
01:02:32It looks like I have plenty of room
01:02:33because there's a window
01:02:34on the front, too,
01:02:35so I can even go from the front.
01:02:36Gotcha.
01:02:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:02:37Okay, Olethra,
01:02:38you bust out
01:02:39and your mini is right here.
01:02:41Yeah, yeah.
01:02:41And you want to dive
01:02:42in through the window over here?
01:02:43Yes, please.
01:02:44Okay.
01:02:44That window is closed.
01:02:46So to dive in,
01:02:48you either have to, like,
01:02:49find a way to, like,
01:02:50skillfully open it
01:02:51or you have to dive through it?
01:02:55Can I just re-hide?
01:02:56Yeah.
01:02:57I'll wait a second
01:02:57because there were two people guarding.
01:02:59One person got knock prone.
01:03:00I'm hoping something would take them
01:03:01and then I...
01:03:02You'll have to use your action
01:03:02because your bonus action
01:03:03is what's getting you
01:03:04that 45 distance, right?
01:03:06Oh, yeah, yeah.
01:03:06So go ahead.
01:03:07If you want to stealth,
01:03:08you have to give me your action to stealth.
01:03:10Okay.
01:03:10Cool.
01:03:11Works for me.
01:03:14Siyak.
01:03:15Come on.
01:03:16Yes, 18.
01:03:17Cool.
01:03:17So Elythera, like a shadow,
01:03:19running through the smog,
01:03:20you leap over the prone soldier,
01:03:23does not get to see you,
01:03:24and you...
