Ryan Malgarini chats with THR at the 'Freakier Friday' premiere and dishes on what it was like reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. Plus, he describes his excitement to return for the sequel film after taking a few years off acting.

00:00When you got the call that they were doing this Freakier Friday sequel, what was your reaction?

00:04Stunned, astonishment, disbelief. Why? No, no.

00:09No, it was really exciting. I stepped away for a couple years from acting in my mid-20s,

00:14so when they said they wanted me to come back, I was surprised. I was genuinely surprised.

00:19It was just a very small part, but it was really nice to hear that they still wanted me to be a part of it,

00:24and I was just really, really happy to do that.

00:26What was it like reuniting on set with Jamie and Lindsay?

00:30It's funny because when I filmed this, I was 10 years old, so I'm kind of meeting them for the first time,

00:36which is so bizarre because I was 10, and they were adults, so it's not like, hey, how are the kids?

00:41I was catching up, so I met them this time, and I was just blown away by how sincere everybody was

00:47and how sweet and honest and warm and normal everybody was,

00:51but it was like meeting Jamie Lee Curtis as a fan for the first time, so it was very, very, very cool,

00:57and it was a very short couple of days. We filmed right here in L.A.,

00:59but it was really nice.

01:01I re-watched the original recently, and the scene where, you know,

01:05Lindsay's character finds out that her brother actually does like her.

01:08He wrote this whole paper about her for school. It's so heartwarming and so sweet.

01:12What can we expect in this new film?

01:14Because I feel like there's probably going to be a lot of heartwarming moments.

01:17Yep. I mean, that was the biggest takeaway, I think, from the first film,

01:21is that it wasn't only just fun. It wasn't only a great movie, but it had so much heart,

01:25and a lot of the same people are still involved with this project,

01:28so I'm assuming that that heart will still be there as well, too.

01:32And it was amazing today getting to see Pink Slip reunite on this carpet and perform.

01:36What was that like for you to watch that performance?

01:38That was cool, because the last time I saw them perform on stage was the wedding scene at the end,

01:43so that was the last time I actually saw them do anything,

01:46and seeing that was really surreal, but they crushed it.

01:49I mean, Christina was awesome. Haley was great. They were all awesome.
