Chad Michael Murray chats with THR at the 'Freakier Friday' premiere and talks about what it was like reuniting with his old co-stars, calling it "a dream." Plus, he dishes on how his character 'Jake' fits into the sequel film.

00:00I saw this video going viral of a fan quoting a Cinderella story to you at an event.

00:05What does it feel like that the fans just still come out and go so crazy all these years later for your previous films like those?

00:11And this.

00:13A lot of luck, you know.

00:17I fell into a lot of good films.

00:20This one obviously being probably the top one.

00:25A lot of luck.

00:26But these films, they struck a core at a really important age where we're growing and developing.

00:32And they've managed to stand the test of time, honestly, because of streaming, right?

00:38I mean, streaming has rebirthed a lot of these movies.

00:40I just saw a little girl down there.

00:42She was so cute.

00:42She's so adorable.

00:43She's 11.

00:44And she loved Freaky Friday 1.

00:46And so now she wants to go see the second one.

00:48And so I think when the young kids are growing up on Cinderella story because mom watched it or dad watched it.

00:55And then now they're showing up to their kids.

00:57It just continues.

00:58And they can be bigger now than they ever were, you know.

01:00I love that.

01:02And for you, what was it like reuniting with Jamie and Lindsay on this?

01:05A dream.

01:06A dream.

01:07You know, I'll ride those girls' coattails anytime.

01:09You know, like I came in and you never know what to expect.

01:12And you just hope that you're sitting going, oh, gosh, let's not screw it up.

01:15You know, you're going to make a sequel.

01:17And it's, I mean, I hate to say it, but it's as good if not better.

01:23Like, they delivered.

01:24Lindsay took the next step in her unbelievable talent of just controlling the incredible instruments she has.

01:32And Jamie's just a boss as always.

01:34So they didn't leave a laugh hanging out there.

01:37It's all in there.

01:38It's a laugh a second.

01:39I love that from the trailer, it looks like Jake is still a cool guy.

01:43Like, he's just gotten better with age, which I love.

01:47I'll take it.

01:48It was, you know, it was one of those questions of what has he been doing for 23 years, you know.

01:55The phone rang and they said, look, we want to bring Jake back.

01:58We want to find a way to get him in the movie.

02:00And so we had to have a lot of conversation because it's a really complicated plot.

02:04It's not a lot of wiggle room for change.

02:06You know, it's like a house of cards.

02:07You move one.

02:07It's all coming down.

02:08So we had to figure out what it was.

02:10And I think all I could focus on was the funniest choice, which was he's been pining after a certain someone for 22 years.

02:18Probably has a shrine somewhere in his home.

02:20Just a little photo of, like, her on the back of the bike.

02:22Who knows, you know, on a flip phone.
