00:00I yield two minutes to the gentleman from North Carolina, Mr. Harris.
00:03Gentleman's recognized for two minutes.
00:05Thank you, Chairwoman Fox.
00:08If this $9 billion House rescissions package doesn't reach President Trump's desk,
00:14Congress will have blown the political opportunity of a lifetime.
00:19Mr. Speaker, I rise today with a simple message to my colleagues.
00:23This is a baby step, but if we don't take it, we are not living up to our promises.
00:28We all ran on fiscal responsibility, so let's be responsible now and for future rescission packages.
00:36This is low-hanging fruit in the eyes of America, but it breaks the cycle of spending without accountability.
00:43It's proof that Congress can and will act responsibly when it wants to.
00:49When the American people put President Trump in office, they demanded lasting changes to a bloated federal government.
00:56We must not let them down.
01:00Mr. Speaker, I yield back my time.
01:02Gentleman yields back.
01:04Gentlelady from North Carolina Reserves.
01:06Gentleman from Massachusetts.
