In remarks on the House floor Thursday, Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) spoke about the Big Beautiful Bill.

00:00Mr. Speaker, I yield one minute to the gentleman from California and fellow Budget Committee member, Mr. Tom McClintock.
00:07The gentleman from California is recognized for one minute.
00:10Mr. Speaker, this bill fulfills many of the promises we made to the American people.
00:15Lower taxes, lighter regulations, a secure border, more frugal spending, and a war on waste.
00:23Throughout history, these are the policies that have produced prosperity and security,
00:28and there's every reason to believe that they will again.
00:32I remind my conservative friends who say this bill doesn't go far enough that our process was not designed to make perfect law.
00:40It was designed to make the best law that's acceptable to a majority, and judging by the narrow votes,
00:45we've pushed this bill about as far toward perfection as our process allows.
00:51The proof is not in the debate points scored today, but rather next year when Americans will ask themselves
00:57if they're better off.
00:59I believe because of this bill, the answer will be a resounding yes.
01:03And perhaps that's what the Democrats fear most.
