Special Envoy For Hostage Response Adam Boehler: This Is The Best Deal Hamas Will Get

Speaking to CNN on Sunday, Special Envoy for Hostage Response Adam Boehler spoke about hostage negotiations with Hamas.

00:00Because, look, Steve has been leaning in really closely on a deal, and he's done it with Israel.

00:05And I think post-Israel winning Iran, there's a new sense of ability to get something done.

00:11The Israelis want something done.

00:13Now, I'll tell you, because I've been with them, Hamas is very hard-headed.

00:17They've been offered many things that they should take, and it's time for Hamas to release the hostages.

00:22So I'm more optimistic than I was because all of those factors are there.

00:26We've got an A-team negotiating it.

00:28Now what I really want to see is Hamas take action.

00:31And if they don't, I'll tell you something.

00:33Israel's going to have to take some kinetic action.

00:36I mean, these are down to little details.

00:38This is why I said Hamas is hard-headed.

00:40I would say Israel at this point is bending over backward.

00:43They're redrawing maps.

00:44At this point, what you do is you say, look, we're going to take this deal.

00:49We're going to let at least 10 hostages go.

00:51We've got two dead Americans there.

00:53We've got the Chens, and we have the Nutras.

00:57We need to get those Americans out.

00:59We need to get the other hostages out.

01:01And then what we've done is we've said, hey, there's a firm pathway to negotiate peace.

01:07That's the best they're going to get.

01:09And they should take the deal on the offer.

01:11Take the offer that's there.

01:12They haven't in the past.

01:14Every single time they don't take it, it goes down and goes down and goes down.

01:19So my recommendation to Hamas would be take the deal that Israel, that the United States

01:24is offering you.

01:25Let's get some people home.

01:26And let's move to end this conflict.
