Could there be trouble brewing in the Red Sox clubhouse is this player gets traded?
Would trading Duran be a mistake chemistry wise?
Transcript
00:00So Brad Foe was on this radio station yesterday talking about trading Jaron Duran and about the issues that come with that.
00:10I have been discussing that. I've been called an idiot for suggesting that chemistry is very important when it comes to the Boston Red Sox and any major league baseball team and sports franchise.
00:24So here's what Brad Foe said yesterday.
00:26I will say this is that Jaron Duran and I've heard I've had players say this.
00:32If they trade Jaron Duran, there's going to be damage control in that clubhouse.
00:35Yeah, it's not worth it.
00:37This isn't Devers. I don't think it's whether they like him.
00:39But then the next question would be long term Duran, Anthony, Rafael Abreu.
00:44How do you go about it?
00:46I think for this season you can do it.
00:48But yeah, beyond I can't.
00:50And I don't know if you know these things have a way of figuring themselves out.
00:54Sadly, someone's getting hurt.
00:55So change your mind when it comes to trading Jaron Duran.
01:01If you were somebody who was all in on that guy being the opportunity to get the most value back.
01:09Like if you, Wiggy, you legit want, you want like a number two, like a legit number two.
01:14Yes.
01:15You're going to have to give up Jaron Duran if you want to go and get a legit number two.
01:19I believe.
01:20All right.
01:21So does that change your mind at all?
01:23You're going to F with the entire chemistry of the team and the guys are going to be pissed about it.
01:28No, it doesn't change my mind.
01:30So you say just do it and everybody will adjust.
01:32And, you know, I mean, it'll be hurtful.
01:34Yeah, it'll be hurtful for, you know, a few days.
01:37But they're professionals and they understand how it is and they'll also move on and they'll know that it's business.
01:44Because I always ask the question and I think Rich just, you know, brought that up when he was talking to Bradfell.
01:49So, well, if you're going to trade him in the offseason.
01:53Well, you may not trade him in the offseason.
01:55You may trade Abreu.
01:57Yeah.
01:57Okay.
01:58I mean, Abreu seems to be the odd man out if you're doing it.
02:06Like, I just wouldn't.
02:08He's 26 years old.
02:10You're, I mean, you're going to have to create.
02:14Roman Anthony is either playing left or right next season.
02:17Like, yeah, he's playing every single day.
02:19We're in full agreement on that, correct?
02:20A hundred percent.
02:21Yes.
02:22Him and Sadan Raffiello will be out.
02:23But they're both locked in and that's, those are your go-to guys.
02:27Right.
02:27However, you can figure that outfield next season.
02:29Right.
02:30So, when it comes to Duran and when it comes to Abreu, there's going to be one guy who is your odd man out.
02:36I agree with you, Greg.
02:37Like, I don't think you trade Duran because of the effect it would have on the clubhouse.
02:40I think he is a leader in this clubhouse right now.
02:43And on top of that, like, this team is best when it has all those guys at their disposal
02:48plus adding a pitcher by trading prospects.
02:52You have plenty of them.
02:53You have one of the better farm systems now in baseball.
02:55You can afford to deal prospects to get a guy like Nathan Evaldi in the building.
02:59You have plenty of them.
02:59You have plenty of them.
