On this segment of First Up, the Indian Navy is set to commission NISTAR, its first indigenously designed and built diving support vessel, on July 18th in Vishakhapatnam. The vessel, constructed by Hindustan Shipyards Limited with 80% indigenous content, will join the Eastern Naval Command. Its primary roles include deep-sea diving and conducting rescue operations, including for submarines. 00:06wherein we've learnt that Navy shares glimpses of first homegrown Nistar class diving support vessel Nistar
00:14equipped with cutting edge deep sea diving systems. It's set to join the Eastern Naval Command soon.
00:21Nistar which is India's first indigenously designed and constructed diving support vessel to be commissioned into the Indian Navy today.
00:29That is July 18th in the presence of Honorable Raksha Rajamantri, Shri Rajanath Singh.
00:59Now Shivani Sharma joins us on the broadcast to bring us more details into this very big development as well as a rather remarkable one at that.
01:27Shivani, a very good morning to you. It only adds to the many feathers already that our Navy has, the defence system has,
01:37with this very inclusion in the Eastern Command fleet as we are given to understand.
01:42Good morning to you Shriya and to all our viewers and yes this is a big day for the Indian Navy when Nistar which happens to be 80% indigenously made vessel will be a part of the Indian Navy and the commissioning will take place in Vishakhapatnam where the Hindustan Shipyards Limited has constructed this vessel.
02:03And when we talk about the capabilities Shriya, this is 120 meters in length and it's over 20 meters wide and has a displacement of 10,500 tons.
02:13The main roles of this vessel include undertaking deep sea diving and conducting rescue operations and very important is that it even goes for the rescue operations of the district submarines.
02:24So the specialised diving complex which is there on Nistar, it extends multiple decks and it is state of art machinery that has been built in India.
02:34And you know when we talk about Navy Shriya, Navy is one force which is moving very fast to get 100% indigenised.
02:43And when we see all these inductions taking place in the Indian Navy, the content of the indigenous parts in these vessels is maximum.
02:51So this is yet another feather in Navy's cap when we see that Nistar which happens to be the newest diving support vessel will be a part of Indian Navy which has been made in India with 80% indigenous.
