00:04hit-and-run incident that led to the death of 114-year-old marathon icon Forja Singh.
00:09The incident occurred on 14 July on the Jalandhar Patankot Highway when Forja Singh was reportedly
00:14crossing the road and was struck by a white SUV. The vehicle fled the scene, leaving Singh with
00:19critical head injuries. He was rushed to a hospital but succumbed shortly after.
00:23The accused, 26-year-old Dhillon, hails from Kaltarpur in Jalandhar and has been living in
00:28Canada for the past eight years. He holds a valid Canadian work permit till 2027 and had returned
00:33to Punjab on June 23, 2025 to carry out repairs on his ancestral home. According to police,
00:39Dhillon confessed to the crime during interrogation. He claimed he was returning home after selling his
00:44mobile phone when the accident occurred. He panicked and fled the scene. Punjab police said that he
00:48learned about the victim's identity Forja Singh through news reports. The Punjab registered vehicle
00:53involved in the incident has been seized and further investigation is underway. Popularly known as
00:58urban tornado, Forja Singh was internationally celebrated for completing marathons well past
01:02the age of 100. His death marks the loss of a legendary figure who defied age and redefined human endurance.
