At her press briefing, Karoline Leavitt was asked for President Trump's response to Speaker Johnson's call for more Epstein file releases.
Transcript
00:00The President said that he floated the idea of a special prosecutor in the Epstein case.
00:06Can you confirm that? And has he asked the Attorney General to do this,
00:10to appoint a special prosecutor, to look it over?
00:13Well, the idea was floated from someone in the media to the President.
00:16The President would not recommend a special prosecutor in the Epstein case.
00:20That's how he feels. And as for his discussions with the Attorney General, I'm not sure.
00:24Deanna.
00:25Thank you so much. Do you know what the President's reaction was to Mike Johnson,
00:30saying that he wants additional files released, the Epstein files?
00:34Was there a conversation with Mike Johnson about that following his comments?
00:38I won't discuss the President's private conversations with the Speaker of the House,
00:41but as I answered to Jackie's question earlier, the President has said,
00:45if the Attorney General and the Department of Justice and the FBI have any more credible evidence
00:50in regards to Jeffrey Epstein's crimes, they should put that forward. He has called on them to do that.
00:55I'll go to all of you, starting with the lady in the blue. Go ahead.
