00:06I'm all for controlling waste and fraud and whatnot, especially on Medicaid, because I know people that have kind of crazy disabilities and are getting it.
00:18And if that's a good idea, why are they waiting until after the midterms to enact those Medicaid cuts?
00:24I would say because the lies told by the Democrats and the media right out of the blocks were pretty effective, and a lot of our colleagues got cold feet.
00:33I kept pointing out whether we reduce Medicaid, the growth in Medicaid spending by $10 or $300 billion, we're still going to be accused of the same lies, that we were trying to cut Medicaid for disabled children.
00:48Nothing could be further from the truth.
00:49We were trying to preserve Medicaid for disabled children, for the vulnerable, and what we were trying to do is fix the Obamacare extension or expansion called Medicaid expansion.
01:01That's the $9 to $1 match, which has completely distorted Medicaid and is actually crowding the vulnerable out of the dollars as well as the services being provided through Medicaid.
01:13A quick example, a Wall Street Journal article was written by a father of a 17-year-old severely autistic child who, you know, God bless the parents who are taking care of this child at home.
01:25They wanted home health care through Medicaid.
01:27They were on a 10-year waiting list because they're being crowded out by single, childless, working-age, able-bodied adults
01:35because states and providers get paid more for providing for those single adults who really ought to, in the best-case scenario, begin their health care through a job as opposed to being incentivized not to work.
01:49So that's what we were trying to fix.
01:51It got completely lied about, distorted by the mainstream media, and unfortunately we had too many colleagues that were afraid of the political blowback.
01:59You know, my hope is that now it's enacted four, five, six months from now, people will recognize, well, I guess my disabled child still is getting Medicaid.
02:10What were the Democrats talking about?
02:13And then maybe we can actually fix the main problem with Medicaid right now again, which is that Obamacare addition to it, which is crowding out the resources and services for the vulnerable to disabled children.
02:26So William and Victoria, thanks to stay online, appreciate your question.
02:30Next, go to Heather in Appleton.
02:32And before Heather gets on there, again, I'll remind everybody, press star 3 at any time to get in line to ask a question.
