00:01Madam President, I call up my amendment 2696 and ask that it be reported by number.
00:06The clerk will report.
00:07The senator from Georgia offers an amendment number 2696 to amendment number 2360.
00:13Madam President, instead of adding trillions to the debt and tax cuts for the rich while destroying Medicaid and renewable energy,
00:21I propose we help our constituents afford health insurance.
00:25If we allow Affordable Care Act benefits to expire, as this bill would, more than a million Georgians will pay more for health insurance next year.
00:33A family of four in Clayton County making $65,000 a year, that's a $2,600 increase.
00:39Doherty County, $2,200.
00:41Chattahoochee County, $2,300.
00:43Augusta-Richmond County, $2,600.
00:45Liberty County, $2,600.
00:47Macon-Bibb County, $2,700.
00:50The AJC, our paper, reports 300,000 Georgians would lose insurance altogether.
00:57And that's on top of the cuts to Medicaid and hospitals.
01:01A vote against this amendment is a vote to gut the Affordable Care Act and raise health insurance premiums.
01:08I urge a yes vote.
01:10Congratulations, thanks both of us.
