At a press briefing on Monday, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) was asked about potential cuts to state Medicaid programs.
Transcript
00:00Last question.
00:02Republicans are using the package to prevent state Medicaid funding going to non-citizens.
00:08The governors of Minnesota and California have in different ways been cutting that off.
00:13Are they wrong to do that?
00:14Are Democrats opposed to cutting off state Medicaid programs that go to non-citizens?
00:18What's interesting is that Republicans have tried to make this a talking point
00:23when, as far as I can tell, the overwhelming majority of people
00:29who are going to be hurt by their efforts to take away Medicaid
00:35and, as a result, will lose their health care are American citizens.
00:41That's the overwhelming majority of the 13.7 million people
00:47who are going to lose their health care because of Republican efforts to provide Elon Musk
00:53and their billionaire donors with a massive tax break.
00:57That's what's unacceptable.
00:59That's what's unconscionable.
01:01And that is what is un-American.
