00:00I have not heard from Emily in a couple months.
00:03From the looks of it, I don't think that she's doing the applications.
00:07I don't really know.
00:08Youth sports is still sidelined.
00:11Football season was supposed to be right now.
00:13They're planning for us to go back in January.
00:15I'm really hoping that plan is what we stick to.
00:18I miss my team.
00:19I miss hearing my coach tell me and Ebby to stop goofing off
00:22and give back to the dance routine itself.
00:24I miss that.
00:25To get a scholarship, you have to be seen.
00:27You have to be watched.
00:28And if you're not playing, you don't get the same kind of evaluation
00:32and they don't get those college opportunities.
00:35Friends lighting candles and hanging balloons tonight
00:37to pay tribute to Reuben Lewis.
00:39He was more than a basketball coach.
00:40Like, I looked up to him like a big brother.
00:42I don't know what to say.
00:56Got it.
00:58Back work.
00:59That ain't it.
01:04Oh!
01:06Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.
01:08I was going to say, it's been a while, bro.
01:17I haven't played basketball in a long time.
01:19It's been a while.
01:21Last time I shot on the actual court?
01:25Probably...
01:27It's been at least a year, obviously.
01:30It's been at least a year, obviously, because of quarantine.
01:36Oh!
01:37I'm putting my point there.
01:40Me and Amani played against each other in high school.
01:44He went to Antioch High.
01:46The same city rivalry.
01:48The better school?
01:49Not the better program, though.
01:52Yeah, it's not.
02:00That's the rim. That's not even me.
02:09Feels good. I made sure to land on this one.
02:12He was smart.
02:14Yeah, I don't think I'm going to dunk again.
02:18Ever again?
02:19I think those babies are over.
02:21Nah, you just got to re-tab. You got to go hard.
02:24I don't know if I want to rehab.
02:26I'll do it with you, and then that'll make me be able to jump.
02:29That's the funny part.
02:34That's one thing that sucks about the pandemic.
02:36Having all the free time but can't do what you want.
02:37I know.
02:39Yeah.
02:40Nah, I think about it.
02:42My whole family had it. Your whole family had it.
02:44That's literally our whole family.
02:46Like, everybody in our family has had it.
02:47I didn't even think about that until right now.
02:49Yeah.
02:50That's crazy.
02:54I'm ready to get back to real life.
02:56I feel like we're in a simulation.
02:58A bad one at that.
03:02Give me some time.
03:06Hey.
03:07Hey.
03:08Hey.
03:09Oh.
03:10Damn.
03:11I played with two messed up knees in high school.
03:13You can play with a mess up, bro.
03:14Dude.
03:18Cheers.
03:22Work all day till my feet get so
03:30Keep on workin' till the whistle blow
03:33Oh, when the night time come
03:36It's on when the night time come
03:38Wear this mask on my face all day
03:41Smilin' like I'm never know what you say
03:44Oh, till the night time come
03:47It's on when the night time come
03:50Wear this mask on my face all day
03:52Smilin' like I'm never know what you say
03:56Oh, till the night time come
03:58It's on when the night time come
04:01It ain't really over, it has just begun
04:04We gonna be alright when the night time come
04:07Tired of tryin' to figure what I might become
04:09I just wanna sing my song when the night time come
04:20Oh, there we go, finally
04:29Can y'all see my screen?
04:34Yup, it's good
04:35Good morning, everybody
04:38I see Jordan
04:40Javonte
04:41Alright, cool
04:43Hope everybody is doin' well
04:45So in the chat for me, just give me a one word
04:49Tell me how you're feelin' this morning
04:51So I see tired, I see meh
04:53Good, thank you Raven
04:55Pretty tired, good, tired, hungry
04:57I'm feelin' that one too
04:59I'm feelin' that one too
05:00Okay, good, fine, tired, sleepy
05:03Tired, tired, tired, tired, tired
05:06For sure
05:06No, I'm definitely with y'all
05:11School was supposed to go back in January
05:23We're still closed
05:26And we're gonna be closed till at least April
05:29We're still closed
05:30Um
05:32So
05:34Other places in the country are
05:37You know, open
05:38Xavier College Prep High School students return to campus today for in-person learning
05:42Oldham County schools are planning to welcome their students back in-person on Monday, January 11th
05:48Local school systems are making their own decisions on how to move forward with classes
05:52Small groups can resume on-campus learning and activities starting today
05:59But Antioch has been closed since March of last year
06:02It's been almost a full year now
06:04You can be tired, it can be drained
06:06That's a lot of time to be spending on your own
06:08Be whatever you want to be
06:10Look at where we're at now
06:11We're still online
06:13So I don't think we're gonna go back to school at all
06:16It's like the whole year, it's just been the same
06:19Everyone's saying it's like being repetitive
06:21Are we gonna go back this month?
06:22And then the month comes and it's like, oh no, we can't
06:27And I think that
06:28That hurts their souls a little bit, to be honest
06:31To know that
06:33That they're not gonna be coming back
06:35And then they're gonna have to go through what they're going through
06:38For a couple more months
06:40I don't know how y'all get up this early in the morning
06:43I don't know
06:44It kinda sucks
06:45Yeah
06:47It's really hard to be home right now
06:49Especially because I'm normally alone in the house
06:52Because everybody's always working or just not here
06:54It's very different
06:57As well, it's just a bummer
07:00Not seeing my friends every day
07:02So I don't have that social interaction that I need
07:06I get to a point, so I'm just like
07:10I'll stare at the laptop screen
07:13I'm just staring at it, I'm like
07:14It's time to stop
07:17This is not fair
07:20I hope we get to graduate in a prom in a season
07:26That's it
07:28That's crazy
07:29Oh man, no more
07:31I miss the people, I miss the teammates
07:33The football games, all of that
07:35So hopefully we get back out there soon
07:40And who knows
07:43All right, so we're going to go over financial aid applications today
07:49Okay
07:50Financial aid
07:53Well, we're going to talk about it
07:55So somebody actually tell me
07:55What is financial aid?
07:57Somebody tell me what is financial aid?
07:59Raise your hand and let me know
08:00Isn't that money you did for college?
08:02Yes, exactly
08:03It's money that you get for college
08:04Thank you
08:05Thank you
08:06I don't know who said that
08:07But yes
08:08Even if you're accepted
08:11That doesn't mean you're going to go
08:13So financial aid packages are a huge part of their decision-making process
08:17Money is a real factor to consider
08:22It's based solely on financial need
08:24As far as like college is concerned
08:27California has a March 2nd priority deadline for the FAFSA application
08:32So that's been a huge push towards the end of February, early March
08:38You want to fill out your FAFSA
08:46Because there is a pool of money that we have here for student aid
08:52And if you don't apply by this deadline, that money usually dries up
08:57That is our goal, that is our deadline
09:00This is what the FAFSA home looks like
09:02Okay
09:04So if you're not on this website, you're probably in the wrong place
09:08If you haven't started yet, you're going to click start here
09:11And it will take you to a completely different website
09:14And that is where you create your FAFSA ID
09:16All right
09:19I appreciate y'all for engaging with me, paying attention
09:22I appreciate my folks who didn't fall asleep on me
09:25I don't know if you did or not
09:27I'm going to just be optimistic that everybody was paying attention the entire time
09:32Over
09:33That was a lot
09:44Honestly, I feel as though
09:47I know like college is really expensive and all that stuff
09:50So financial aid does play a big role in determining where
09:55But, you know, I feel like if my heart is really in it
09:59I'm going to do whatever I need to do to get there
10:03Thanks for calling Federal Student Aid
10:08This call may be monitored or recorded for quality and training purposes
10:23Please tell me the reason for your call
10:26FAFSA application
10:29I've been trying to apply to a few scholarships
10:35So far I haven't gotten, like, really any back
10:38I hate revolving my life around money
10:41But then it's like, how are you going to go to college without it?
10:45Okay, say the option you want when you hear it
10:49Application status
10:51Student aid report
10:52Corrections and update
10:53Dependency
10:54Financial and taxes
10:55Signature
10:56Deadline
10:56State higher education agency
10:58Or
10:59General application questions
11:01Wait, hold on
11:03Would you like to hear that again?
11:08Let me just call again
11:10I checked the FAFSA website
11:13It was, like, empty
11:14So then I was kind of confused
11:15But I'm not really sure
11:18It's kind of scary
11:20Because, like, what if I don't even get money
11:23And it's like, um, what am I going to do?
11:32Thanks for calling Federal Student Aid
11:34You can say name menu
11:36Or press the star key to return
11:39Sorry, I didn't get that
11:43The way things are going
11:45Like, a lot of people's attitudes
11:46Like, even sometimes me
11:48Just feel like
11:48I just want to get my diploma
11:49So I can go on with my life
11:51Like, I don't even care about this anymore
11:52You make that decision
11:55On what the best option is for you
11:56When you hear back from all your schools
11:58And I really hope that
12:00Financially they're able to go
12:02Because I think these are going to be
12:04Great opportunities for them
12:05For FAFSA application questions
12:08Student aid report
12:09Or other help
12:09Say FAFSA
12:11FAFSA
12:12Go to FAFSA.gov
12:16To start either FAFSA
12:18For summer sessions
12:19Contact the school
12:21Would you like to hear that again?
12:26No
12:27Okay, this is not working
12:30Our activities director
12:47Like, he said that since
12:49We're leadership
12:50We can't be tired
12:52But I'm tired
12:53It's stressful
12:56Because we have to be the ones
12:58To keep everybody else motivated
12:59As well as keeping ourselves motivated
13:01As well as keeping ourselves motivated
13:01We think about
13:04Mental health versus physical health
13:06That's quite literally
13:07What this battle is right now
13:09I think students have something to lose here
13:13Because this is the foundation
13:14Of their life that they're building
13:16I just hope
13:21The ones that we have helped
13:22That they're not going backwards right now
13:27This is the cross-country course
13:35A lot of people won't practice
13:39Unless they have something structured
13:40For them to do
13:41I'm guilty of this too
13:43So
13:44I haven't really been working out
13:47Sadly
13:48I was just trying to like
13:50Get my life together
13:52I usually like to use my planner
13:55To keep it organized
13:55I have not touched my planner
13:57In a while
13:58Man
14:00It's
14:01Kind of been a little bit tough
14:03Athletics is such an important part
14:10Of a kid's life
14:11Because it teaches them
14:13You know, time management
14:14And goal setting
14:15And planning
14:18And beyond just being a student
14:20That makes them an effective adult
14:23And they miss out on that
14:29Anyway, so we want to get our students
14:33Back in the classroom
14:34But it's not just being back in the classroom
14:36It's, you know, the social aspect of things
14:40Some kids come from, like, bad homes
14:43Or, like, me going to practice
14:46Is the only place where
14:47I feel, like, normal
14:49That ability to connect with an adult
14:52And their friends
14:52And those kind of things
14:53Yeah, those are real
14:55Like, a lot of people
14:58Were checked out completely
14:59Don't care about
15:01What else is going on
15:02On our campus
15:03I was, like, this close to getting there
15:05But I can't do that
15:07So
15:07Gotta keep hope
15:09Hopefully something changes
15:11I really do
15:12I'm really hoping
15:22With, like, the whole vaccine rollout
15:24And stuff like that
15:25That life can be better
15:28In every corner of the country
15:33Americans have been rolling up their sleeves today
15:36Once we get enough people
15:38To get this vaccinated
15:39We can kiss COVID goodbye
15:41By the end of the week
15:442.9 million doses will arrive
15:46At 636 locations in all 50 states
15:49The president's saying
15:50We could be back to some kind of normal
15:52By the 4th of July
15:53Starting April 1st
15:54All Californians aged 50 and over
15:56Will become eligible for vaccinations
15:58Then on April 15th
16:00It extends to everyone 16 and over
16:02So this is great news
16:03For this age group
16:04And the community
16:05Exactly one year after the pandemic
16:10Upended life as we knew it
16:12President Biden now laying out a roadmap
16:14For a return to something a lot closer to normal
16:18Hi ladies
16:21Hi
16:22How's it going?
16:23Good
16:24Good, good
16:25Feeling well
16:26Are you getting like waves of people?
16:28It's not a
16:29How's it?
16:29Yeah
16:30They're starting to come a little bit more often
16:33Okay
16:33They're just waking up too
16:35Remember that?
16:35But you know what?
16:36They're excited to see us
16:37Oh
16:37They're so excited
16:39See the next car that pulls up
16:40They just smile so big
16:42We need to be back open
16:44Because there were some traditions
16:47They don't
16:48They didn't get this year
16:50My seniors
16:51I want to do that tunnel
16:53Oh yeah
16:54So they come through
16:55And we can just cheer them on
16:56Wouldn't that be amazing?
16:58Let me do something again
16:59I want to do something
17:01I have to do something
17:02They can't have nothing
17:04Their whole year
17:05I need as much as them
17:07Oh look at that smile
17:09She's like
17:09Hey
17:10Hi sweetie
17:12How are you?
17:13Good
17:13Good to see you
17:16We miss you guys
17:17How's your grandma?
17:18I'm good
17:19She's all good
17:20Okay
17:20Stay safe
17:21She's still in the house
17:22Oh you caught it for a little bit
17:25Okay
17:26But you're doing good
17:26Obviously
17:27It was just amazing
17:29To see a kid
17:30Did something to me
17:31That made me just go
17:32Oh my god
17:33I miss these kids
17:33Who knew I would miss them like that?
17:37Oh god
17:38I don't know
17:38Are we going to pick up
17:40Like our diplomas
17:40Or
17:41If we're still virtual
17:42And the numbers aren't down
17:43It'll be drive-thru
17:44What would happen
17:45Is you come in your car
17:45One car per family
17:47And then we'll call your name
17:48Popping circumstance going on
17:50And we just handed you a diploma
17:51And you get to take a picture too
17:52We have
17:53We've seen a lot of false starts
17:58Senior pictures are off site
18:01We won't know if we can do prom for sure
18:05Bye there
18:05Bye
18:06So there's a lot
18:08So there's a lot
18:08That students are missing out
18:10On in their senior year
18:12Hi sweetie
18:13Hi
18:14Can I see
18:15I don't know who's under the mask
18:16Can I see your face
18:17Oh
18:17Oh
18:18Oh god
18:23You're not supposed to hug them
18:24Come back
18:24I'm not hugging you
18:25Come on
18:26Hi sweetie
18:28Bye
18:29I might be contacting you
18:30Okay bye
18:31No I will contact you
18:32You can't
18:35I know you can't help it
18:36Here sanitize
18:39They sit around being told
18:43Oh maybe next month
18:45Oh maybe next month
18:46That wears you down
18:48I know they need us
18:49Alright you guys
18:50Bye
18:51See you later
18:52Alright
18:56Good morning
18:57Good morning
18:58Good morning
18:58Did you want to start
19:00Or do you want me to jump in
19:01I mean I can just kind of go through
19:03What the plan is
19:04For the next couple of weeks here
19:06Yeah
19:06This upcoming Thursday
19:08We can have a next steps
19:10For senior parents workshop
19:11To complete their fast applications
19:14And make sure we try and get
19:16As close to 100%
19:17You know
19:18Financial aid completion
19:20As possible
19:20It's going to be a little bit different
19:22Obviously virtually
19:23Because I can't go around
19:24To every student
19:25And help them out
19:26Whenever they have a question
19:27That I'm still trying to brainstorm
19:28What that will look like
19:29Very busy
19:31A couple of weeks
19:32I want you to tell me
19:34When it's a lot
19:35When it's too much
19:36Okay
19:36And you and I know
19:38What's going on
19:39With distance learning
19:40Usually by now
19:42Our kids would have gone
19:43To several schools
19:44To visit
19:44Or we would have had
19:45Speakers come in
19:46To talk about their colleges
19:48Financial aid
19:49But we're missing out
19:51On all of that
19:52But if we can bring it
19:54To our families
19:55I think that'll be
19:56Really helpful
19:56Is there anything else?
20:03Is any
20:04Talk about
20:06When school
20:06Is going to
20:07Start up again
20:09Okay
20:09Well as far as I know
20:12April 17th
20:13Is when we
20:14Re-evaluate
20:15And kids are coming
20:16Back again
20:17Okay you folks
20:19I have nothing else
20:20And if we don't
20:21We'll talk to you later
20:22Sounds good
20:24Thank you
20:24Bye bye
20:26You're welcome
20:27Bye bye
20:28Bye bye
20:29Bye
20:29Hello hello
20:35Do you have a second?
20:36I do
20:36For sure
20:36For sure
20:37The stay at home order
20:40It was supposed to be
20:41Lifted at noon today
20:42Okay
20:43So as soon as
20:44I get a chance to see
20:45That the stay at home
20:46Order has been lifted
20:47We can discuss
20:48Whether or not
20:49We can get back
20:50Into pods
20:50And start practices
20:52That'd be great
20:53That's a step in the right direction
20:54Let me see if
20:54Actually did
20:55Let's see
20:56Effective immediately
20:59All the regions
21:00In the state of California
21:02Are no longer
21:03In the stay at home order
21:05Alright
21:05Fine
21:06He did
21:06That's good
21:07We're seeing a flattening
21:08Of the curve
21:08Case rates
21:09Positivity rates
21:10So there's a step
21:11In the right direction
21:12And that gets us
21:13Four sports
21:14Alright
21:14It's better than nothing
21:16But we are not
21:17Out of the woods
21:18Hey we still getting
21:23To play football
21:24So it is what it is
21:25Yeah it's been
21:28Over a year
21:29Since last football season
21:30You need to go to
21:32The Deer Valley website
21:33And then sign up
21:35For football there
21:36And you'll be allowed
21:37To practice
21:38So they sent out
21:40All the emails
21:41To our parents
21:41I'm ready
21:43I can't wait
21:45Excited
21:48When I tell you
21:48I have been
21:49Constantly texting
21:50Ebby and our other friend
21:52Kind of gives you
21:56Like some type
21:57Of sense of normalcy
21:58That you know
21:58Not everything is
21:59Like horrible
22:00In the world
22:00You know
22:01My school's so empty
22:16I have hand sanitizer
22:20And the whole shebang
22:21You're cold
22:23You're 96.8
22:24In the beginning
22:26I'm just going to
22:27Give them a quick
22:27Pep talk
22:28And let them know
22:29Things can still change
22:32If things get worse
22:34In the outside world
22:35It'll put a stopper
22:36On everything
22:37I'm glad to be back
22:40I'll just say that
22:40They really need it
22:43This morning
22:46I woke up really early
22:47Because I've had
22:48My cheer backpack
22:49And like my stuff
22:51Laid out
22:52Since like Monday
22:53She always says
22:54Outside
22:55But it's never outside
22:56Right now
22:57I'm wearing my warm ups
22:58Me and Ebby
22:59Hopefully she's wearing hers
23:00And then our other friend
23:02Danielle
23:02We're all planning on matching
23:03I love track
23:07But I love cheer
23:08Just a tiny bit more
23:10It's never a bad day
23:14At cheer
23:14There's Louisa
23:18I'm gonna stop it
23:21Senior season
23:26Senior season
23:28And then
23:29To do a half time
23:33To do a senior night
23:35That's what we're planning
23:35No one has stopped me yet
23:36Hi kiddos
23:39That's who it is
23:40Hopefully it'll just be smooth
23:43And we're all happy
23:44To see each other
23:44Okay
23:45The hardest part
23:47Is to not hug
23:48And scream
23:48That's gonna be the hardest part
23:56No phones
24:01No purses
24:02No nothing on you
24:04Yes
24:05Keep your water bottle
24:06Because I can't provide water
24:08This is what we knew
24:10Two weeks ago
24:11I don't expect miracles
24:14But they should know their stuff
24:15Because they're strong
24:16Athletes
24:17We have to know everything
24:19Like yesterday
24:20Because
24:21The games are starting
24:24In just a couple weeks
24:25You guys got something?
24:27Win baby
24:28Yes
24:29Football's not my main sport
24:33But they ruled out
24:35Indoor sports
24:36Like basketball
24:36I'm a natural athlete
24:39So like
24:40It feels good
24:41To be out there
24:42Playing
24:42I'm gonna do it
24:44For Coach Rube
24:45Got to
24:48Last time guys
24:55Can we do it right?
24:56I play corner
24:57And I play right receiver
24:58And then I do like
24:59Special teams
25:00And stuff like that
25:00Hold it up
25:01Let's try it
25:01Come on man
25:02I feel great
25:03To be out there
25:03On the wall
25:04He's got speed
25:08He's got athleticism
25:09I love coaching him
25:11I love coaching him
25:12Let's go
25:12Let's go
25:13Let's go
25:13Let's go
25:14Let's go
25:15I want you to be smart
25:17You're a smart guy right?
25:19Yeah I'm pretty smart
25:19If you can kick it
25:20Please kick it
25:21But if you can't
25:22Then you gotta make a play
25:23Out of it
25:23Alright
25:23I think if he really
25:25Put his all into football
25:26He could have a bright future
25:28Oh good one
25:30That's perfect
25:32But he's been kind of
25:34Treating this as a side
25:35Side dish
25:36You know
25:36Not the main entree
25:37It's real important
25:40That you guys stay focused
25:42Can you do this?
25:43Can you pull this off?
25:45We're gonna run into the tech center you
25:47And then back around twice
25:49Why Abbie not in the front?
25:52What's going on?
25:53Shut up kidding
25:54Actually that was my whole issue
25:56From the very beginning
25:57If I coach
25:59You are not gonna be
26:00Just a cute girl in a skirt
26:02That's all that
26:03Last time
26:04Switch it
26:05Get those elbows out
26:06We adjourned, we adjourned
26:08I'm not going
26:08I'm in here
26:09I'm in here
26:09When everybody came out
26:11Everybody was like
26:12A little chubby and stuff
26:13They had to get back in shape
26:15Because they've all been
26:16Sitting at home and stuff
26:17You do school by yourself
26:20You're at home by yourself
26:22So like it felt good
26:23To like be around
26:24All my teammates and stuff
26:25So we can all encourage each other
26:27To get through all that
26:27I mean the coaches are hard on us
26:38Tonight get to bed early
26:40But they've got to do their job
26:42So we can play
26:43To our best abilities
26:45One, two, three
26:46Win!
26:47It's always been a battle
26:48To prove what we are
26:50Or ignore
26:52What they say out there
26:55You know you always hear like
26:59Oh Deer Valley
27:00They're not that good
27:01Like even my
27:03My aunties
27:04They went to Deer Valley
27:05Their friends went to Deer Valley
27:07And like their friends
27:08Will always say
27:08Like you're going to join
27:09Their cheer team
27:10Like why are you
27:10Trying off their cheer team
27:11It's not that good
27:12And I'm like
27:13I like it
27:14Who's got the beat
27:17Even though cheering
27:18For a winning team
27:19Is always the best thing
27:20But like
27:22If you're playing for
27:23Owen Chin School
27:23And nobody's looking
27:24In your direction
27:25There was a stretch
27:36Of about ten years
27:38Where this was the place
27:40We beat a lot of people
27:43That doesn't happen anymore
27:46Well what's the rule
27:49The rule is
27:50It takes seven positive messages
27:52To counteract one negative
27:54So you know
27:56We don't
27:57We're not able to get out
28:00Enough positive messages
28:02To counteract the flow
28:03Of negativity
28:04They're right over there
28:06So they can hear you
28:09When you're yelling it
28:09So beat the lions
28:11We have so much talent
28:15That goes through our school
28:16You have to have faith
28:18In your team
28:19Do that one again
28:20Who are you yelling for
28:23Dear Maui
28:24Wolverine
28:25And I said
28:26You just keep practicing
28:27You keep focusing
28:28You do what you need to do
28:29And rise above it
28:30Because you are better
28:32Than what they think
28:34Everybody wants to beat
28:53Dear Valley
28:53Hey Jay
28:55Any sport
28:57It doesn't even matter
28:58Girl
28:58I got like
29:00Three more in the house
29:01So the games are going to be fun
29:03And just light me up
29:06A little match
29:07Today is the first
29:10Home football game
29:11Of the season
29:12We are going to be going
29:13Against Antioch High
29:15And as far as
29:16I've been on the team
29:17You know
29:17All my four years
29:18We never won
29:19Against Antioch
29:20We like not to say
29:22Their name
29:23The word Antioch
29:24Is a bad word
29:25So we call them
29:27The other team
29:27I know we can get
29:30A couple of wins in
29:31I'm really excited
29:35To get back out there
29:36And be cheering
29:37We love to be
29:38Oh my god
29:39Alright everybody
29:41Touch somebody
29:42This is our first
29:44Home game too
29:44So it's so much
29:46Hey you guys have had
29:47A hard week of practice
29:48Am I lying?
29:50Just a moment of silence
29:51I'm not
29:53Go time!
29:54Go time!
29:55Go time!
29:55Go time!
29:56Go time!
29:56Go time!
29:57Go time!
29:58Go time!
29:59Go time!
30:00Go time!
30:01Go time!
30:03Go time!
30:04Go time!
30:05Go time!
30:07View the pandemic!
30:11Touchdown
30:12Go time!
30:13Go!
30:13Go!
30:14Go!
30:14Go!
30:15Go!
30:15Go!
30:16Go!
30:17Having victory
30:18Once we can
30:19Clue the first
30:21Real
30:251-די
30:26First half, tons of mistakes, man.
30:29They're a little emotional, so we had to kind of calm them down
30:32and just play football, that's all.
30:34We'll be ready, man. We'll be ready for the second half.
30:36We're on the TV, Wolverine to one, knock you out!
30:41Passing three to Felder, number seven, across the district.
30:48Touchdown, Wolverine.
30:50There's a flag back at the Wolverine 30-0 line.
30:56Get in the excellent field position for the Panthers as they come back on.
31:13Get in! Get in!
31:15Touchdown, Panthers!
31:19The RDB's better wake up!
31:23Touchdown, Panthers!
31:25For the Wolverine, now into Tampa territory.
31:2913, to all young girls!
31:32I'm here to flag on the flag.
31:35Oh, my hand.
31:36You got a kick for him, man.
31:39Go, sir!
31:40Yeah, we got a kick.
31:42I mean, I do it.
31:45The Wolverine will be a repeat of 14-0.
31:51Give me a second.
31:53Oh, my God!
31:55Breathe in and out.
31:57Yeah, it's the same leg.
31:58It's the same leg.
31:59In the nose.
32:00Here and left!
32:02We need a straight shot!
32:04And that's the turnover line down.
32:06Yeah, I think the lead sucks.
32:10Yeah, I think the lead sucks.
32:11Yeah, I think the lead sucks.
32:13Yeah, I think the lead sucks.
32:14Yeah, I think the lead sucks.
32:15Come on!
32:16Let's go, D!
32:17Come on!
32:18Come on!
32:19Come on!
32:20Touchdown, Panthers.
32:23And ladies and gentlemen, that will do it for the Japanese contest between the visiting
32:32Antioch Panthers and their home New Valley Wolverines.
32:35Panthers prevailing 20-0.
32:38The kids are trying to figure out how to be a team.
32:43You know, these guys have been on their own, living in their own house, where they haven't
32:48really had to worry about anybody else.
32:51This is actually a very good life lesson for them.
32:55We've got to roll with the punches.
32:57You've got to go for it.
32:59Don't wait for something to happen for you.
33:02You guys gave up?
33:03Go coach!
33:04Go coach!
33:05Go coach!
33:06Make sure you go home.
33:07You stretch.
33:08Ice.
33:09Hydrate.
33:10Take care of your bodies.
33:11All right, everybody?
33:12Let's go!
33:13I don't know.
33:15I don't know.
33:17I don't know.
33:18I don't know.
33:19I don't know.
33:20I don't know.
33:21I don't know.
33:22It was a frustrating time for coaches and players.
33:25I don't know.
33:26I don't know.
33:27I don't know.
33:28I don't know.
33:29I don't know.
33:30I don't know.
33:31I don't know.
33:32High school kids are the forgotten child.
33:35They may be six feet tall.
33:38They may look grown up and in some ways are mature, but they're still a child.
33:44They still have worries.
33:45They still have wants.
33:48It's that we've got to find tools for them.
33:53I'm trying to keep track of all of my students, trying to make sure I don't lose any of them.
34:22Sending text messages to check in on them, see where they're at.
34:27I had tried to reach out to Emily a few times, especially because at the time she hadn't gotten back to me.
34:32But I also try to do this from a place of, like, understanding students are going through things.
34:41For Emily, she was already, like, struggling.
34:47So I think that the pandemic just, like, pushed it to another level.
34:51It just kind of put her in this, like, deep hole.
34:55I had seen some things that I was just, in my head, I was like, she's not okay.
35:00She wasn't going to class and not really paying attention.
35:05I was like, you told me that you wanted to do good this year, so, like, why aren't we, you know?
35:10And she's just like, what's the point?
35:12But I never really thought that, you know, she would act on anything.
35:20I thought that we were close enough to where she could tell me.
35:27The fact that these are teenagers is, I think, it impacts whether or not they reach out to you.
35:43Emily did end up getting back to me, and we had a conversation where she was able to be really vulnerable
35:51and tell me some of the things that was going on in her life.
35:57I just, I felt like everything in my life was wrong.
36:02In my eyes, like, I just wanted to rest and not worry about anything.
36:10I didn't want to keep going.
36:13I ended up trying to overdose on pills and sleeping medication.
36:31No salt?
36:33No, I would do salt.
36:34It was just a moment of weakness that I never thought I would get to.
36:37Okay.
36:40And it made me feel like, where did we all go wrong?
36:48We all know the stress of everything that was the shelter in place.
36:53And then on top of that stress, the pressure of doing well academically hit her kind of hard, too.
37:06That stifled a lot of her plans and her goals.
37:09I wasn't that student anymore.
37:14Here I was, like, failing all my classes.
37:18I didn't see any future for myself.
37:21In my head, I was like, if I don't succeed now, I'm never going to amount to anything.
37:27I just tried to offer my support and ask her what she needed from me.
37:39He just assured me that he was going to find me resources.
37:42It was just really comforting to hear from Mr. Cam.
37:47You know, just reassuring me that I wasn't, like, a failure.
37:50I wasn't letting him down.
37:52So, we decided that, you know, trying to graduate was going to be my goal of this year.
37:57You know, wanting to graduate and wanting to, like, pass that milestone, it's something that I look forward to.
38:24It's really early to be hearing back from schools.
38:45Probably in the next month and a half.
38:47Close your eyes. Get really strong through your legs. Ground.
38:56I think we're supposed to be hearing back from the UCs at the end of this month.
39:01It's going to take a minute, but I just want to hear back from all the schools that I've applied to before I make any decisions.
39:09So, within these next two weeks, we'll be finding out, like, our answers. So, we're scared.
39:18Topics are still the same three.
39:20USC, Arizona State, and Howard.
39:22So, I'm just waiting to see what those schools say.
39:31And, like, especially the uncertainty of where I'm going to get accepted and, like, where I'm going to be in the future is scary, but at the same time, really exciting.
39:43And then release out through the mouth.
39:49Hey, guys.
39:51Ebi here.
39:53And I just came to let y'all know, voting for a homecoming theme has begun.
39:57Yes, homecoming is late. Very late.
40:00But it's happening. So, make sure you vote. Make sure you participate.
40:04Thank you. It's appreciated.
40:05It's appreciated.
40:07Let's get right into the news.
40:09Homecoming is still on.
40:11Leadership needs your help on deciding on the 2021 homecoming theme.
40:14Leadership is planning to celebrate the 2021 homecoming court virtually with exciting video submissions and capping off the homecoming week with a socially distanced crowd event.
40:23Congratulations, spring honor roll students.
40:25This is Friday.
40:26Leadership would like to celebrate all Wolverines who made honor roll this spring during distance learning.
40:30There will be a drive-through gift pickup to celebrate all honor students.
40:33Have a week.
40:35So, we're voting for the theme of homecoming.
40:41Last year's theme was, it was the seasons. I thought that was pretty lame.
40:48Usually we have the winter ball and then we have a homecoming game and then prom.
40:55This is a conference and we're here to provide you with the names of the top 15 reveal for homecoming king and queen.
41:01I think last year, I think everyone had voted to just have a homecoming.
41:07Davian Tobal Reyes and Javonte Sellers. Congratulations.
41:15It's cool to see like that many people by my school like genuinely like me as a person.
41:20It means I'm doing something right when it comes to like my character.
41:22Thank you to everyone that nominated and just voted for me.
41:26Hope you guys have a good one. Stay safe and make sure to wear your mask, okay?
41:29Make sure to wear your mask. Stay safe.
41:32I appreciate the school for trying, but it can be the same.
41:37But like, it's better than nothing honestly.
41:39Cause we've been out of school for so long.
41:45And we lost her scissors.
41:49Tomorrow night is senior night.
41:55Take a knee real quick guys. Real, real, real quick.
41:58It's our last game of season.
41:59It's our last time going over everything.
42:04So be focused.
42:06You guys get what I'm saying?
42:07Yeah.
42:08Especially during the pandemic.
42:09We got enough going on already.
42:11One, two, three.
42:13Win!
42:14This is the biggest one.
42:15It's, it's hopeful that this is our year.
42:25We've been waiting for this.
42:29So we got to go out and win.
42:31I mean, we never win homecoming.
42:34That's kind of sad.
42:35You know, it's your homecoming game and you don't win.
42:38Oh yeah.
42:39Nobody's going to be over here excited to cheer for you.
42:41If you guys are going to blown out 50 to zero.
42:43Like, and it's not even like one game.
42:45It happened like no consistently.
42:55Honestly, they try.
42:56They put in the work, the practice, the time, all of that.
42:59And I feel like at the end of the day, that's what matters.
43:13If any, any issues of kids hanging out, they've got to go.
43:21It's still going to be limited capacity because of Corona.
43:23And it's extremely weird, but it's also exciting too.
43:27In homecoming, it's a time to be celebrating with their seniors.
43:30Oh, that is so beautiful.
