00:27walked out in all pink the hotel california what does he have in store for us today he was once
00:33the dell boy now they just referred to refer to him as war chisora
00:38live on tnt sports let's now welcome to the ring our main event participants first here is joe
00:54the juggernaut
00:57choice
00:58choice
01:00joe joyce the wbc's number eight
01:02joe joyce the wbc's number eight
01:04please
01:17joe joyce the wbc's number eight
01:24Joe Joyce, the WBC's number 8th ranked contender at heavyweight, knows there is a path to a world title fight.
01:34But the only option for him is to defeat Derek Chisora and to do it in impressive fashion in a place that Chisora calls his home.
01:49What did the Juggernaut do to improve his defense?
01:52It's because he's easy to hit, but once he lands, he can do a lot of damage.
02:0494% of his wins have come by stoppage.
02:09He wants to improve that percentage tonight in a must-win fight.
02:22And now, let's welcome to the ring, Derek War Chisora!
02:35Whoa!
02:47It's a repeat of Hotel California.
02:50What's the outfit going to look like for Chisora?
02:53All black.
02:55It is farewell to the O2 Arena.
02:58He's made this ring walk 10 times before.
03:04He said this could be emotional for him.
03:06The last time he walks out in a place he stopped David Price.
03:11He stopped Archer Spilka.
03:13He stopped Carlos Takam.
03:15He said, I'm going to stop him in the first round.
03:44And if that doesn't happen, I don't see it going past five.
03:50Let's just hope he doesn't say that outfit was too heavy for him.
03:54Too much blink.
03:56You're hilarious.
04:01Bernardo, most people wonder why he can fight at this age.
04:08Him and Joe Joyce.
04:11They don't realize this is that they started boxing in the early 20s.
04:15Yep.
04:17Unlike a fighter like myself that started when he was 10 years old or other fighters that
04:21start when they're 7 years old.
04:23They don't have, they have less wear and tear on their body than someone that had an extensive
04:28amateur career.
04:29Like 300 fights like a Lomachenko.
04:31So, every age is a little bit different, I would say.
04:37It just depends on, again, how long you've been doing it for.
04:40We saw Bernard Hopkins.
04:41He fought in his late 40s.
04:43We saw Big George.
04:44Yep.
04:45He fought in his late 40s as well.
04:48It's because they started late in the sport.
04:50Well, even though he got a late start, Derek Chazor has been in the game 17 years as a pro.
04:58He wants to make it to 50 fights.
05:00Tonight, it's number 48 and his swan song here at the O2 Arena.
05:06And he's savoring every last second of his ring walk as he walks over towards Joe Joyce.
05:14Gives him one last look.
05:16And he knows what he's up against.
05:18We know what we're going to get with these two power-punching heavyweights in London.
05:24This is about pride.
05:25This is about heart.
05:26And this is about entertainment and continuing to be viable heavyweights.
05:42You hear the Derek Chazor chants.
05:48He may not win them all.
05:53He's lost 13 of his 48 fights.
05:56But you know what you're going to get.
05:58He fights for the fans.
06:00That's what it is.
06:01He fights for the fans.
06:02Ladies and gentlemen, it is now time for our featured bout.
06:07It is scheduled for 10 rounds in the heavyweight division.
06:15Brought to you by Frank Warren on behalf of Queensberry Promotions.
06:21Along with their great sponsors, 32 Red and Unibet.
06:25It is sanctioned by the British Boxing Board of Control, Stuart in charge, Ben Harmsworth.
06:31Timekeeper, Brett Bowles.
06:34Our three judges assigned scoring on a 10-point must system will be Mark Bates of England, Victor
06:44Laughlin of Scotland, and Kieran McCann of England.
06:49Our referee in charge, third man in the ring, will be Kevin Parker of England.
06:57And now, boxing fans joining us live on TNT Sports, and boxing fans here in London, England.
07:13The time has arrived for our main event of the evening.
07:20Introducing to you first, fighting tonight out of the red corner, he comes to the ring wearing
07:35white with gold, and weighed in officially at 20 stone, one pound.
07:41Coming to us from Putney, London, England, he was a Olympic silver medalist, and now is
07:49a professional, has a record consisting of 16 wins, 2 defeats, with 15 of his 16 wins, coming
07:59by way of knockout.
08:01Ladies and gentlemen, here is the former British, European, and WBO interim heavyweight world champion,
08:14Joe the Juggernaut, Joe!
08:19And his opponent across the ring in his main event, fighting tonight out of the blue corner,
08:31he comes to the ring wearing black trunks, and weighed in officially at 18 stone, 4 pounds.
08:39Hailing from Finchley, London, England, he has a professional record of 34 wins, 13 defeats, with 23 of his
08:5234 wins, coming by way of knockout.
08:56Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome, the former two-time world title challenger, Derrick War Chisora!
09:08Gents, we've already been through the final instructions in the dressing room, and you know what, I expect a clean fight, remember to obey my commands at all times, above all, protect yourselves at all times.
09:34Touch gloves, touch gloves, touch gloves, touch gloves, however long this lasts, Tim, buckle up, it's going to be fun.
09:42It's going to be fireworks.
09:43You know, Derrick War Chisora has effectively adapted his style to deal with taller, bigger fighters, or heavyweights.
09:54He uses pressure, he has good timing, and he does have some athleticism, and has shown a good chin.
10:01And there's that right hand that's slapping Joyce early on, with the hand that's free, Tim.
10:08Let's see how much Chisora has left.
10:14Talking about 78 years combined between these two.
10:19The juggernaut turns 39 in September, but he's still considered a contender here in the current heavyweight landscape.
10:26It's the same landscape that has Jared Anderson fighting August the 3rd, and he's undefeated in 17 fights.
10:38You have Daniel Dubois fighting Anthony Joshua for the vacant IBF title that Oleksandr Usyk talks to the side after becoming undisputed.
10:50Man, both of them are, like, throwing punches in slow motion, man.
10:58Am I lying?
10:59No, no, you're not.
11:00Or is it, like, I mean, slow motion?
11:03Like, they, you know, like they're lagging.
11:05What's that song?
11:06Slow motion for me.
11:08Slow motion.
11:09You see Chisora stepping in the inside, just getting right after Joyce.
11:14Joyce, Joyce needs his range to be able to get his jab established to mount his offense.
11:25As long as Chisora stays close, he's going to nullify the offense of Joe Joyce.
11:32We talked about the weight, 281.2 pounds for Joe Joyce, and just to put that into perspective,
11:41he weighed 286.5 for his last fight against, that he got a knockout, and then 281.5 in the
11:49second loss against Zhilei Zhang.
11:52Nice left hook there from Joe Joyce, and that was up to 258 in the first fight, Tim, so he's
11:58really on the heavy side now.
12:03Does he do that to be able to take a better punch, you think?
12:06Nah, it's not even to be able to take a better punch, man, you know.
12:10You find a, you find an optimum weight to where you feel comfortable at.
12:14And I think, you know, going up in weight, that's what Joyce snapped overhand right from
12:20Chisora.
12:21Yep.
12:21My goodness.
12:22That's the shot.
12:23That's the, that's his bread and butter right there.
12:25He knows how to land that shot, particularly when the jab is thrown.
12:28At mid-range, he'll come right underneath it, or he'll start with it.
12:34He'll just lead with that overhand right.
12:37And you know, Tim, sometimes it's just about being faithful to your identity, as now Chisora
12:42gets picked with a nice left hook.
12:44My choice.
12:46Yeah.
12:49And that's pretty much Chisora's identity.
12:52I'm going to give you what I got.
12:53If you can take my right hand, that's cool, but if you can clip me, then good on you.
12:57First round of the books here at the 0-2 arena.
13:13Get back to your jab, it's doing beautiful.
13:15Don't lead with the right hand, get your jab working, okay?
13:17It looks beautiful.
13:19Enjoy your breathing.
13:20Shake out.
13:20Enjoy your breathing.
13:21Shake out.
13:22Listen, don't stay in the pocket too long.
13:24That's the left hook right there that hurt.
13:48Chisora on the way in.
13:52Joyce stepping back.
13:54Biting off his back foot right there.
13:56Nice little sweeping left hook.
13:58Catching Chisora on his way in.
13:59And now you see Joyce warmed up.
14:03There's a little bit more pep in his step and crisper with his punches, and he sees that
14:07the left can do damage.
14:11But he can't be careless throwing that left because an overhand right from Chisora could
14:15do some damage as well.
14:17Yeah, as long as Joyce's out again, as long as he has his range.
14:22As long as he's out at range and he's shooting that jab.
14:25And he's stiff with that jab.
14:27It's going to make things rough for Chisora.
14:30Chisora on the inside right here, just getting, letting his hands work.
14:33The nice left hook there from Chisora on the inside, but the heft on the punches of Joyce
14:41seem to be different tonight.
14:44They're slower, but they're also heavier.
14:46Heavy.
14:48Would you say 280-something pounds?
14:50281.2 to be exact.
14:52Nice body work by Chisora.
14:54The shot that Joyce should have worked on, and we saw it in the Washington fight, the
15:05last fight that Chisora had.
15:08Gerald Washington, the uppercut.
15:10He was able to land that shot over and over and over again.
15:14It's because, again, Chisora, he likes to come in.
15:17He'll lead without throwing a jab.
15:19He'll lunge forward, just leaving an opening for the uppercut.
15:24And, Tim, we saw the different 24-and-a-half pounds there in favor of Chisora.
15:29I mean, in favor of Joyce, but he's putting all 281.2 pounds on Chisora and leaning on him.
15:38Yeah, that could definitely have an effect on him.
15:41Cyphus gas tank.
15:42Do you want me to call this at fight speed as a nice right hand line for Chisora?
16:00If I was calling this at the speed of the punches, I would say,
16:10There it is again.
16:15Dang.
16:16I mean, look, Joyce has zero head movement, and Chisora is letting him know that I'll move that head for you.
16:22Yeah, but how much effect are those punches, how much effect are they having on Joyce?
16:27Because he's not bagging up.
16:30He's getting hit with those shots, but he's not bagging up, and he's putting that pressure right now on Chisora.
16:35That's a nice left hook from Chisora.
16:39I mean, you know Chisora's going to give you what he's got left in the tank,
16:43and that's what he's doing here through two rounds.
16:46Oh-ho!
16:47How the big shot right there from Joyce.
16:50Left hook.
16:56Look.
17:01Look.
17:05You're rolling is beautiful.
17:14You're rolling is beautiful.
17:15You're rolling is beautiful.
17:16Listen, when you go and go to the body, you're trying to go with a short right.
17:19But sometimes for the hook, sometimes for the jab.
17:21Yeah?
17:22Your body first, and then come up to the head.
17:23You're beautiful.
17:24Just give me, give me the two to the body and the two to the head, and then roll out.
17:30Don't be there for his shots, okay?
17:31You're great on the inside.
17:33You're great.
17:33Good.
17:34Good.
17:47You see Chisora right there just letting his hands go out at distance.
17:51That overhand right landing on the forehead of Joe Joyce.
17:55If he lands it on the chin, I wonder what will happen.
17:59Tim, both guys look exhausted here after two rounds.
18:02I think just in terms of conditioning, I don't know that it could go past seven, eight rounds.
18:07Man, these guys got good conditioning, man.
18:09I mean, Chisora, again, got a lot of miles on the dominer.
18:14You know, he's a guy to just put offense together.
18:17I mean, he punches and punches.
18:19He slowed down a bit because of age.
18:21However, he fights at a high work rate just as well as Joe Joyce.
18:26I mean, he did go the distance with Joseph Parker, Dillian White, Oleksandr Usyk, Klitschko.
18:34I mean, his title shots were 10 years apart, 2012 and 2022.
18:38As you see, Joyce, the favorite at minus 250 on ESPN Bet Live, plus 175 here for Chisora.
18:45That's what makes both these guys tough, tough to deal with,
18:48is because of their conditioning, their stamina, their heart, their will to win.
18:54You can tell they're not the most skillful guys out there.
18:57But they've won a lot of their fights that they've won throughout their career.
19:02It's just been on grit, just outworking their opponents.
19:05Battles of attrition.
19:07Both are no strangers to those.
19:09Willing to take a shot to deliver a shot.
19:11And there, it was Chisora landing that right.
19:13Both have shown a good chin.
19:17I think Chisora's been knocked out four times throughout his career, 17-year career.
19:24Dillian White, Tyson Fury, among the men who knocked him out.
19:29And you wonder where, where, Joyce, where he gets his stamina from.
19:45Yeah, he was a swimmer, right?
19:47You know?
19:49Did some, what is it, karate as well.
19:52Did some rugby.
19:54Wonder where his toughness comes from.
19:55That grit.
20:00I mean, and just reading up on the story of Joe Joyce, his mother was blind.
20:05He was her caretaker from the time he was four years old as the oldest child.
20:11And Tim, just the maturity that brings with it as he lands a nice right uppercut, does Joyce.
20:16Sends Chisora reeling back.
20:19I mean, you saw how Chisora tried to get under his skin.
20:23And you imagine what he's been through as a kid, Joe Joyce.
20:26None of it really matters to him.
20:28No, none of that really matters.
20:30And Joyce is such a nice, he has the nicest character, nicest guy.
20:34But he doesn't fight that way.
20:35Right.
20:36It's just so interesting to me.
20:39You don't earn the nickname, the Juggernaut, throwing 80 punches per round at your peak.
20:45Before the Jilajong fight.
20:47Things have changed since then, though.
20:48It's a nice left hook there from Joe Joyce to close out round number three.
20:53One is blowing.
20:57Control, two.
21:01Three.
21:02Three.
21:05Three.
21:08Three.
21:10Three.
21:11Three.
21:13You're doing great.
21:14You're not in this direction of the Japs.
21:16And find his body, Swami Savasso.
21:18Find his body with the Japs.
21:19and then come up with the other hand.
21:21On the inside, you're doing very well.
21:23Do me a favor. Don't go to the head first.
21:25Go to the body first on the inside, then go back to the head, right?
21:27On the clinch. Okay, good.
21:35Russ Amber, the veteran cut man,
21:39using that end swell on the mouse under
21:41the right eye of Chisora.
21:43From that left hook
21:47of Joe Joyce.
21:49The second round landing.
21:51Yeah, he landed it one again
21:53at the end of that last round.
21:55All right, round four
21:57of a scheduled ten round fight
21:59all London affair between
22:01Joe Joyce, the juggernaut
22:03still ranked number eight
22:05in the world by the WBC taking on
22:07former two-time world title
22:09challenger Derek Warchizora.
22:11His last fight here is 11th time
22:13he's stepped into the ring at the O2 Arena.
22:17Wants to get to 50 fights
22:19fighting at Manchester next
22:21and then in his native Zimbabwe.
22:22His choice chases him out with the long right hand
22:25and then a left hook from Chisora.
22:26That's a punch we've rarely seen thrown by Chisora.
22:32Joyce
22:33starting to get in a little rhythm
22:35that last round.
22:36He's able to land a series of combinations
22:38on Chisora.
22:40And again, as long as he keeps his distance
22:44he's going to have, he's going to be very successful.
22:46And then he, in the inside what he's doing
22:48is he's putting all that weight, that 280-something pounds
22:50on Chisora.
22:56Oh, what a big shot. Left hook.
22:58Good shot.
23:08One thing's for sure.
23:10Joe Joyce can take a punch. Absolutely.
23:12He can take a punch, man.
23:14I mean, look.
23:15We knew that Derek Chisora was going to come to fight
23:17and give everything he's got.
23:18That's exactly what he's doing.
23:20And he can punch. Chisora can punch.
23:22But you have guys like Usyk saying that
23:24this is the hardest puncher that I ever faced.
23:26You've got to believe him.
23:27And Usyk has been in a ring with Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
23:32I mean, another left hook from Derek Chisora, Tim.
23:36And he's just having his way here in the fourth round.
23:40He's finding his spots.
23:42He's catching. He's catching.
23:44He's catching Joyce.
23:46Out at range.
23:48With his chin up in the air.
23:50And it's prompting the chance that he's hurt so many times inside that 0-2 arena
23:59wore Derek Chisora.
24:00Yeah, but I remember when Chisora can put threes, fours, fives together.
24:05They do it all over again.
24:07You know, again, he stopped.
24:09Now he has to recharge.
24:11And this is when you're going to see Joyce come on.
24:15Tim, he's 40 years old.
24:16I understand.
24:17And a lot of wear and tear on him.
24:1917-year pro, yes.
24:20We're talking about two guys who almost combined for 79 years of life in the ring.
24:26The two oldest heavyweights to ever step into the ring.
24:28Virgil Hill was 43.
24:30Henry Maske was 43 years old.
24:32That was in 2007.
24:34And Maske came away with the victory that time.
24:37So it's a different pace.
24:38It's like an old-timers game tonight.
24:40Yeah.
24:41But a dangerous old-timers game.
24:44Because, look, now you see Chisora going backwards.
24:47Joyce must have hurt him.
24:48He has to recharge.
24:49But, look, he lands it right as Joyce comes in.
24:51Not with the jab leading the way, but with his face leading the way.
24:55All right.
24:56We're four rounds in the books.
25:00And we talked about one victory that was so important in the career of Joe Joyce.
25:05And that was Joseph Parker, who has gone on to win a unanimous decision against Wilder.
25:10And then a majority decision against Jacques.
25:13But this was prime Joe Joyce before the two knockout rounds.
25:16Absolutely, it was prime Joe Joyce.
25:18He's believing in himself.
25:19I work great.
25:20Again, combinations.
25:22That left hook right there was vicious.
25:24That's the shot he's landing tonight on Chisora.
25:27However, it's about staying consistent with his work.
25:30You know, you're starting to see him not stay as consistent as he once was.
25:34But once he got started going downhill, then, I mean, he can go forever.
25:38But he still hasn't gotten that rhythm just yet.
25:41And I would say the two biggest wins in his career were that victory against Parker and then defeating another man who was on his way up.
25:49And he will be fighting for a title fracturing his orbital bone in November of 2020.
25:53That win against Daniel Dubois, who at the time was undefeated 15-0.
25:58They were both undefeated when they met.
26:01And Joyce was really on the way up here as we get to round five of a scheduled 10 rounder.
26:07Bernardo Osuna alongside International Boxing Hall of Famer Timothy Bradley.
26:12Chisora seems to be wearing down a little bit.
26:15Joyce finally throwing that jab.
26:17Chisora looking for that looping right hand.
26:21He's trying to get Joyce to walk right into it.
26:24Buying some time, using his legs, picking up his feet, trying to change the angles.
26:27Joyce coming forward.
26:33Putting that pressure on Chisora.
26:47Short right hand there from Chisora.
26:51I mean, he's going to take every shot he can, Tim.
26:54Especially if he doesn't have to move around to get it.
26:57No, you can't give him any free shots like you see there on the inside.
27:00He lands three shots in a row on Joe Joyce.
27:03And Joyce needs distance to be able to land those big shots of his.
27:13Look at Chisora off the ropes.
27:16Using that defense, weaving underneath those shots.
27:19Catching a few of them.
27:21And coming back with his own offense.
27:27Pretty savvy in there.
27:28That's the uppercut that you said was going to be there for him.
27:30That's the shot.
27:34Chisora tends to lean down and against Gerald Washington.
27:37He got clipped by that uppercut on several occasions.
27:40Was able to come away with the win last time out.
27:44Joyce not really setting that shot up.
27:46But those are the inside shots that Chisora is going to take advantage of.
27:49I just wonder.
27:50I mean, I wonder the effects from that knockout.
27:54It just seems to me that Joyce is a little bit slower than I'm usually seeing him.
28:00Just a little bit.
28:01Reflexes are a little bit slower.
28:03Well, Tim, you remember that before that fight,
28:06he relied too much not only on his power offensively,
28:09but his toughness defensively.
28:11And there they exchange a big shot.
28:13And there's another overhand right from Derek Chisora.
28:16The crowd appreciating what they're seeing here.
28:18With 38 seconds left in round five.
28:24This is the war we expected.
28:36How much does Chisora have left here?
28:45Because he's giving some good shots, but he's taking some big shots like that.
28:49Left hook from Joe Joyce.
28:52Now Lutz coming from the mouth of Chisora.
28:56What a war.
28:57Oh, my goodness.
29:01Some good stuff.
29:02You're talking about heart.
29:06You're talking about will to win.
29:08That man right there, spirit, has a spirit of a warrior, man.
29:14Chisora.
29:17I would hate to, I would hate to catch him in an alley.
29:19In the back alley.
29:20Man.
29:21I'm telling you.
29:22He told, he told Joe Joyce, he says, you're not about this life.
29:25I am.
29:26And he proves it time and time again.
29:31And neither Alexis Demetrius, who's Chisora's trainer, or his main son-ups were happy with whatever happened at the end of that round.
29:45Corners, ten seconds.
29:51Seconds out.
29:52Round six.
29:53I just got to say this.
29:56We do not control the replays coming out of the O2 Arena in London because, Tim, that was a round worthy of replays.
30:03That was a hell of a round right there by both men.
30:05I mean, Chisora was pouring it on, throwing those combinations.
30:10You had a guy like Joyce that was trying to do the same thing.
30:13Both guys were landing.
30:16It's going back and forth.
30:17And something's going on with the corner here, and the referee, Kevin Parker, saying, listen to what I say.
30:27Don't hit after the bell.
30:28And just to give you the update on the ESPN bet odds, Joe Joyce started at minus 250, now he's at minus 200.
30:38Derek Chisora was at 270, plus 270, now he's at plus 150.
30:42So, people are putting their money in on Derek Chisora as Joe Joyce now sends Chisora reeling backwards with a nice flurry.
30:51Look at that head movement.
30:52Look at the head movement on the inside.
30:56Adapting again.
30:58Understands how to get away from them shots from the taller men.
31:02And, Tim, it seemed like Joyce smothered himself.
31:05When he was on the outside at the end of the shot, that's when he had Chisora reeling, I mean, yeah, reeling backwards.
31:10And then he gets inside of those shots and lets Chisora maneuver his way out.
31:18Not a whole lot of variation in the punch selection for Joe Joyce.
31:25And as much as...
31:27On the straights and hooks.
31:28Yeah.
31:29Nothing really down to the body.
31:31No uppercuts up the middle.
31:34And, Tim, as much as we were touting Joe Joyce as a future challenger for the winner of Usyk and Tyson Fury before those two fights against Zhilajang.
31:45Yeah.
31:46This is not the same guy.
31:47No, no, no.
31:48Boxing has taken...
31:49I mean, Zhilajang has taken that from Joe Joyce.
31:52Yeah, I agree with that.
31:54I definitely agree with that.
31:57And that's just the cruelty of this sport.
31:59One night, and on this occasion, two nights against the same man, and Joe Joyce is just not the same.
32:04Well, the defense...
32:05People don't understand how important defense is.
32:07You know, it's the longevity in the sport.
32:09It's longevity after the sport as well.
32:13And that's one thing that Joe Joyce never learned in his career is how to be defensively sound.
32:22And still, he won a silver medal in Tokyo.
32:25I mean, not in London in the 2012 Olympics.
32:28Oh, he's definitely an overachiever for sure.
32:30Yeah.
32:31Starting late, then getting off to the Olympics and winning the silver medal.
32:34I mean, that's just something that he...
32:36That's something he has a special.
32:37And that's, again, it's his will to win.
32:39It's his motor.
32:40The fact that he can...
32:42He can throw those combinations over and over and over and continue to put pressure and be able to take punches from his opponents.
32:50However, he's not going to last long in the game fighting this way.
32:55Yeah, I mean, he's only a six-year pro, Tim.
32:58This is his 19th professional fight.
33:00But...
33:02Just, there's no pep in his step anymore.
33:05The punches are not clear.
33:06The defense is just as bad as when he made his debut.
33:09And Cesaro taking advantage of that here in round six.
33:12And when a fighter like Cesaro at 40 years old is able to land those type of shots...
33:31And, Tim, we mentioned how Xie Lai Zhang took a lot of Joe Joyce.
33:36It started April 15 of 2023, that straight left hand.
33:40He just had no answer for that all fight long.
33:43Closed his right eye.
33:44That was something that he says, all right, he closed my right eye.
33:49But then the rematch, Tim, in September.
33:51This is the fight where he just took everything that Joe Joyce had left and left it on that canvas.
33:58Look.
33:59Physically, you can tell.
34:02You can tell he's affected by it.
34:04Physically.
34:05Physically.
34:06Just by the way he's fighting the knife.
34:08And psychologically, but I could just say psychologically, I think he's okay.
34:13I mean, he's getting hit with these big shots.
34:15Usually, when guys get knocked out, they're gunshots.
34:18They're either gun shy, or they don't want to get hit with any punches or any shots.
34:23He doesn't mind getting hit with shots.
34:25You know?
34:26So, psychologically, I think he understands that he can take these punches and he still believes that he can.
34:30And that's why he's still here right now after getting hit with these big shots,
34:34these big shots with Chisora.
34:35However, the physical effect is definitely showing.
34:39Yeah, absolutely.
34:40And the psychological effect is what Derek Chisora was trying to bring to the table.
34:44As Chisora now switches to the southpaw stance momentarily.
34:47He said he was going to do that in the build-up to the fight.
34:49Well, there he is doing it.
34:51Didn't have any effect on the fight.
34:53But you saw him wearing that gilet-jong mask at the weigh-in.
34:58And he says, you got PTSD from those two losses, and I want to bring that back to light.
35:03I mean, this is a cruel sport, Tim.
35:06Any psychological advantage you can get, you're going to use.
35:09And now a short left hook from Derek Chisora as he doubles it up and triples it up on Joe Joyce in that combination.
35:15I can just tell you this, that Chisora has lost to the top guys in the sport.
35:26Yes.
35:27That's who he's lost to.
35:28The top guys in the sport, they've all beat him.
35:30Yeah.
35:31If Joe Joyce want to get to the top level, he has to beat guys like Chisora.
35:38He can't struggle against guys like Chisora.
35:47Oh, nice left hook there now from Chisora.
35:49I mean, from Joyce.
35:50He went to the body first and then the left of the chin.
35:53As Chisora is walking in with his chin exposed.
35:57Can Joe Joyce take advantage of this here in the seventh round?
36:02Chisora is so tired.
36:05Eyes are swelling up.
36:08Oh, right uppercut from Joyce.
36:10But that heart and that will he's fighting with, man.
36:14He's fighting with everything.
36:16Every ounce of energy he has left.
36:22The one thing you got to say about Chisora, what he promises he's going to do, he does in the ring.
36:27Well, I mean, look.
36:28Some fighters, they fight for themselves, but he's a guy that fights for the fans.
36:32He wants the fans to get in their tank.
36:34Keep rolling, that's it.
36:36That's why they keep chanting.
36:37Exactly.
36:38For Derek Chisora.
36:39Oh, nice combination from Chisora.
36:42Jab from Joyce.
36:44Nice left hook from Chisora.
36:47Hey, you know when the best time to witness a fighter's spirit is when they're tired.
37:03Oh, okay.
37:04That's what, that's the best time.
37:06That's what you're witnessing right here from Chisora.
37:08When he's tired.
37:09Oh!
37:10Throws a big flipping overhand right, does Derek Chisora.
37:14That's when you see their will to win.
37:18Now it's Joyce with the right hands.
37:19But even fatigued.
37:28Chisora continues to be dangerous with that 1-2 combination.
37:30And we mentioned the fact that he's only lost to the best.
37:35Three times against Tyson Fury, who was only stopped in the last fight.
37:39Joseph Parker, twice.
37:41Oleksandr Usyk, who then claimed that Chisora was the man who hit the hardest his entire career.
37:46David Hay and Vladimir Klitschko.
37:49Throw in Robert Helanius, David Hay, Kubrat Pulev, Dillian White.
37:55I mean, the who's who.
37:56The who's who of the heavyweight division.
38:00And he's using that experience.
38:02Again, he's using that experience against Joe Joyce.
38:07Beautiful timing right there.
38:08Just off the ropes, using the ropes as leverage to be able to generate power for himself.
38:15There he is, bouncing off the ropes once again.
38:20Cross blocking, that right hand.
38:23And tip the cruelty of this sport.
38:26At his peak, before the Xiong fights, Joe Joyce used to throw 80 punches per round.
38:33He can't muster that anymore.
38:35No, he can't muster that anymore.
38:36You're absolutely right.
38:37And here we see Chisora now even money on the ESPN bet line after starting at plus 270.
38:43270, Joe Joyce, a slight favorite at minus 135.
38:50This is a fight that could easily be going Derek Chisora's way through seven rounds.
38:59We're in round eight of a schedule 10.
39:00And here goes that overhand right once again.
39:03If against Xiong, there was no answer for the left against Chisora, there's no answer for the right from Joyce.
39:09Man.
39:15I just don't get it.
39:16I just don't get it.
39:18Why?
39:20Why not work on defense?
39:22Why not work on, you know, getting underneath that right hand?
39:26I'm sure that Ismael Salas has worked on the defense.
39:31Joyce is who he is, Tim.
39:34He always relied on that toughness, on that chin.
39:38But the lack of speed reflexes.
39:40That's his downfall as a pro.
39:42Man, just move just slightly left to get off the line.
39:45That's it, man.
39:46It's just slightly left to let that right hand go past you.
39:50Or just bend his knees to get underneath it.
39:52He's allergic to defense, Tim.
39:58And now Joyce's right eye is starting to look the worst for wear.
40:02Oh, you got the, you got the, again, you got Joyce pressuring.
40:06He's bagging up Chisora.
40:08Having his back against the ropes.
40:10It looks like he's controlling the fight right now.
40:17And that double jab from Chisora.
40:20Just doing the basics here.
40:24Downstairs, good defense there from Joyce.
40:25Keeping that left, the right glove up.
40:27But then a left hook from Chisora.
40:29First downstairs and then upstairs.
40:33Oh, joyce with a heavy right.
40:36And a right to the body.
40:42One thing that Joe, Joe, Joe Joyce, he understands is the end.
40:45Oh, now Chisora's hurt.
40:48And Joe Joyce, can he use it?
40:50Who's these last 43 seconds?
40:52Does he see just how hurt?
40:54Where Chisora is.
40:55After that left hook, the legs are gone.
40:58Joe Joyce trying to pour it on.
41:00But Derek Chisora landing shots of his own.
41:02At this level, Tim, these guys give you everything.
41:09I told you.
41:11It's a fight, a fight, a fight fast fight right here.
41:15Chisora's legs are gone.
41:17He needs to get on those ropes just to stay upright.
41:20And Chisora smothers himself.
41:22I mean, Joyce smothers himself.
41:26Chisora with the heart of a lion.
41:28What kept him up, unbelievable.
41:39He's barely able to make it back to his corner as Chisora's struggling.
41:43The great jab right there from Joyce.
42:01Putting the pressure on.
42:02Good combination.
42:03Great change up in speed.
42:05That's the reason why he was able to get off that shot.
42:08He hid the power right there.
42:09Just changing speed.
42:11Tap, tap, tap, tap.
42:12Boom.
42:14Chisora never saw that left hook come.
42:16It hurt him.
42:17And here you see him just pouring it on right here.
42:20Then you see Chisora comes back because that heart.
42:22Again, that heart.
42:24That's a man that has a big heart.
42:26And he fights with all his will.
42:28He gives you everything, people.
42:30Understand that.
42:31And that's the reason why he's appreciated by the fans.
42:35And he barely made it back to his corner.
42:38His trainer, Alex Dimitriades, had to meet him halfway into the ring to help Derek Chisora.
42:44Back to that blue corner.
42:45Another left hook here from Joyce Joyce.
42:47Hurts Derek Chisora.
42:49And once again, he's right on top of him, smothering himself.
42:52No legs from Chisora, but plenty of heart in this all-London fight.
42:59Enough to land that overhand right.
43:01Man, they got people in the audience standing up.
43:05They on their feet.
43:06What they witnessing right now.
43:08They are on their feet.
43:11That's the range that Joyce can do damage from.
43:15Yes.
43:17But he gets close enough.
43:19And Chisora lands an overhand right.
43:20Despite the fact that he's mumbling and stumbling left and right.
43:31You see, Chisora has no legs left.
43:34You see him along the ropes.
43:37Ropes is holding him up.
43:40You saw when he threw that left hook how his left leg just elevated, Tim.
43:44Yeah, look, he has no legs left.
43:47I mean, now he's coming on strong right here.
43:50But he's trying to muster up the strength.
43:56But standing along the ropes, that's going to help him keep his balance and keep him up.
44:01Look at his feet all over the place.
44:03That's what I was saying.
44:04His feet just pick up out of nowhere.
44:06Now he's going back to the ropes where he feels comfortable.
44:08And, again, the ropes is helping him stay up.
44:11But Kevin Parker has a close eye on Derrick Chisora here.
44:13He's a 40-year-old fighter.
44:15His right eye is almost closed.
44:17Great job from Russ Anker in that corner to even keep it open.
44:21Neither guy has much left.
44:23But Chisora's in bad shape here in the ninth round.
44:27Definitely in bad shape.
44:28First time I've actually seen him actually reach out and trying to tie up.
44:31Oh, and down goes, George.
44:34Huge right hand from Chisora when he can barely stand himself.
44:38Six, seven, eight.
44:44What just happened?
44:47This is boxing.
44:50Rock'em, sock'em, robots.
44:52Slow motion for me, yes.
44:54But give me this action any time of the day.
44:57And twice on Saturday from London, the O2 Arena.
45:00My goodness.
45:05What a memorable ninth round we're seeing from these two warriors.
45:10Walked them right into that right hand.
45:12Along the ropes.
45:13Came off the ropes with that looping right hand.
45:16Right on the money.
45:18Catching Joyce by surprise.
45:21Chisora could barely stay upright.
45:23He doesn't know where he is.
45:25He's using the ropes to just stay on his feet.
45:28And he's bouncing off the lander right hand on Joe's Choice.
45:32What a round!
45:34This is insane.
45:36This is insane.
45:42My goodness.
45:45We said what was a juggernaut.
45:47He's no longer that.
45:48But Chisora, 100% is the man they call war.
45:53Fire.
45:58That was a shot that...
46:00That was a shot that Joyce didn't see coming.
46:03He didn't see coming.
46:04He didn't see it coming.
46:05Let's take a look at the...
46:06He got a bit overconfident.
46:08Joyce was going in for the cue.
46:11He got a bit overconfident.
46:13Never saw that punch coming.
46:14Watch how he comes off the ropes.
46:21Boom!
46:22Use the rope.
46:23With leverage.
46:25Catching him out of position with that right hand.
46:27Never saw that shot coming.
46:30Rope positioning right there.
46:31That was nice.
46:32Rope-a-dope.
46:33Rope-a-dope.
46:34My goodness.
46:3510th round.
46:36We never thought we'd get to this stage of the fight.
46:39What a right hand from Joe Joyce
46:40to come out and start this 10th round.
46:45But can he stay at that distance?
46:48Or will he be a sitting duck once again
46:50for another overhand right from Derek Chisora?
46:53Listen to the fans.
47:03He's done it 10 times before in this arena.
47:06Only lost once.
47:07That was a nice right hand
47:08that could have been counted as a knockdown.
47:12Only been stopped once.
47:13That was Dillian White.
47:14Other than that,
47:15nine victories.
47:16Five knockout wins for Chisora
47:18at the L2 arena.
47:21Does he have enough gas
47:22left in the tank
47:23to make it to the 10th?
47:24The end of the 10th.
47:26To hear the last bell
47:27in two minutes from now.
47:28He's on fumes right now.
47:30Been on fumes for three rounds, Tim.
47:32And still dropped Joyce.
47:37Can Joyce keep it to the basics here?
47:48Chisora proven.
47:49All he needs is one shot
47:50and Joyce is wary of that.
47:51Nice jab.
47:52Very stiff shot.
47:54Broke Joyce.
47:56Chisora again
47:57just looking to line him up
47:58for one shot.
47:59Asking to the crowd
48:00to get into it.
48:02Give him some energy.
48:05He went Hulk Hogan there
48:06when he pulled his hand
48:08to his ear.
48:15He's looking to muster up
48:17one more big right hand.
48:18Just buying his time
48:20trying to get
48:20Joe Joyce comfortable.
48:23Tim, in this era
48:24when fighter says
48:25I fight for myself.
48:26I don't care about the crowd.
48:28Chisora is the opposite.
48:29And tonight, Tim,
48:30they're giving it all
48:31back to him in the ring.
48:33Yes, they are.
48:34Oh!
48:35There's a slap.
48:36Oh, my goodness.
48:39See, the guy has much left.
48:41I was like, what happened?
48:43His legs buckled.
48:44That's it.
48:44I don't know how
48:47Chisora is going to make it
48:49these last 45 seconds.
48:50Look at the ropes.
48:52Oh!
48:53There's another combination
48:54from Chisora.
48:56Take that!
48:57And that!
48:58Oh!
48:59Don't move your head.
49:00Just keep it right there.
49:00Oh, another
49:01left hook, right hook combination.
49:03You want the hook?
49:06Oh!
49:06Let's get it!
49:07Woo!
49:08Woo!
49:08Woo!
49:08Woo!
49:09Unbelievable.
49:10I mean, look.
49:11If you're not a
49:12Derek Chisora fan,
49:13at 40 years old,
49:1548 fights as a professional,
49:17been in against
49:18the best fighters
49:19of this generation,
49:20takes that left hook
49:22with 10 seconds left
49:23in this fight,
49:24still on his feet.
49:26I don't know what you want
49:27out of the boxer.
49:31Chisora talks the box.
49:32And he backs it up
49:34inside the ring.
49:35Epic.
49:37Look at Alexander
49:38who claimed that
49:40Derek Chisora
49:41is the hardest
49:42puncher he's been in there.
49:43Listen
49:43to the crowd.
49:57My skin.
49:59I'm crawling.
50:00Bro, I'm crawling.
50:01But that type of
50:02determination, man.
50:06And the fans.
50:07I only hear the fans
50:09like that when
50:09Sweet Caroline
50:10comes on, Tim.
50:11Tonight, it's payback
50:12for everything
50:13Derek Chisora
50:14has given
50:15the London fans,
50:16especially at the
50:17O2 Arena
50:17where he fought
50:18for the 11th
50:19and final time tonight.
50:20That's a special fighter.
50:23That's a special fighter
50:24with courage,
50:25with determination,
50:26a will to win.
50:27Even at 40 years old.
50:30Even at 40 years old.
50:32Look at that eye.
50:34Fight through it.
50:35Damaged this round two, Tim.
50:37Damaged this round two.
50:38Yep.
50:40And be able to put on
50:41that type of performance.
50:43And mounting the only
50:44knockdown of the fight.
50:46The only knockdown
50:47of the fight.
50:49But this was an epic finish
50:51by both.
50:53You know,
50:54Joyce,
50:54he never let up.
50:57Big right hand
50:58just bouncing off the ropes.
50:59You see Chisora
51:00lining up again.
51:01Another right hand
51:02off the ropes.
51:03Weaving underneath
51:04that shot.
51:08And Derek Chisora
51:09mentioned it
51:10before this fight.
51:11He said,
51:13he says,
51:14one of us
51:15is going to leave
51:15with less brain cells.
51:17Both leave the round
51:18with less brain cells.
51:19But the undisputed
51:20heavyweight champion
51:21of the world.
51:23The expression says it all.
51:24No words necessary.
51:27He loved what he saw.
51:29We loved what we saw.
51:30I think the fans at home
51:31loved what they saw.
51:32I told you guys.
51:34Don't forget the age.
51:35Forget.
51:35I mean,
51:36the first couple of rounds
51:37was kind of,
51:37uh,
51:38but it heated up real quick.
51:41Boy,
51:42did it heat up
51:43inside the O2 arena.
51:46I mean,
51:46this,
51:48was a memorable night
51:49because Tim,
51:51a lot of times
51:52we talk about
51:52British boxing
51:53and how up until now
51:55they couldn't get it
51:56to the next level.
51:57These guys had the potential
51:59at one point.
52:00Losses came
52:01in their careers,
52:02but they never lost
52:03their heart.
52:03They never lost
52:04their determination.
52:05They never lost
52:05their dedication
52:06to the fans.
52:08And Derek Chisora,
52:10I mean,
52:10he shouldn't pay
52:11for another beer
52:11in London ever again.
52:13That's funny.
52:16No,
52:16I agree.
52:171,000%.
52:18And he's going
52:19to be respected
52:19and remembered.
52:20I don't know
52:20how much longer
52:21he has.
52:22I mean,
52:22this performance
52:23tonight,
52:23it says it all.
52:25You know,
52:25he's at the finish line
52:26right now.
52:28I'm not sure
52:29who's going to win
52:29this fight,
52:30man.
52:30You know,
52:31I mean,
52:31I was too busy
52:32paying attention
52:32to all the,
52:33you know,
52:33the punches
52:34being landed
52:34by both men,
52:35but there's got to be
52:37a winner.
52:37I don't know
52:37who it is.
52:38I really have
52:40Derek Chisora
52:41pulling this off.
52:41Let's see what
52:42Thomas Treiber has.
52:43Ladies and gentlemen,
52:45after 10 hard-hitting
52:47rounds of boxing,
52:50we go to the judges'
52:52scorecards.
52:54Judge Kieran McCann
52:55scores it 97-92.
52:59And both judges,
53:01Victor Rocklin
53:02and Mark Bates
53:03score it the same,
53:0596-94.
53:08all in favor
53:09of your winner
53:11by unanimous decision,
53:16Derek
53:17Moore
53:18Chisora.
53:20Dave.
53:21There was no way
53:22they could take
53:23this performance
53:24from a man
53:25who started
53:25at plus 70,
53:27was at even money
53:28going into that
53:29eighth round,
53:31and then
53:31with no legs,
53:33all heart,
53:34big right hand,
53:35sends Joe Joyce
53:36to the campus,
53:37and he wins
53:38on scorecards
53:39of 96-94,
53:41twice.
53:41night.
