00:00Hard to believe that one great performance earlier in the week did notch Jacob Mizorowski an all-star appearance.
00:08I mean, George, I mean, think about this.
00:11If this start right here, six innings pitched, 12 strikeouts against the Dodgers.
00:17If this looks like six innings pitched, two earned runs, and five strikeouts, George, this guy's not in the all-star game this week.
00:26When people are talking about five starts, I think it was that start.
00:29Really, when you think about it, he was, before we knew about this, he was my start of the week.
00:35He's been fantastic, but never in my wildest dreams did I think that that start right there would lead to him heading to Atlanta to pitch on Tuesday.
00:45I mean, listen, it's ridiculous.
00:48I think we know.
00:49Honestly, I don't mind it.
00:50It's an exhibition game.
00:51Fine.
00:52You want to get the guy throwing 1,000 miles an hour, and he replaces Boyd, by the way, and I'd rather see Mizorowski than Boyd.
00:58So if I'm going to play the devil's advocate, but I do think it's unfair for a couple of pitchers who have done it all season long.
01:05I imagine the Philadelphia Phillies are not happy.
01:07There's quotes here from Trey Turner and Nick Castellanos that are not very happy that their own guys didn't make it.
01:14And I think that's justified.
01:15I do.
01:16Those guys have pitched very well all season long.
01:17Numbers are very similar.
01:18Maybe not as sexy as far as 12 strikeouts.
01:20But if you ask me who the fans want to watch, it probably still is Mizorowski.
01:26You know, he probably is that guy.
01:27And, you know, Craig, baseball, MLB takes a lot of crap for not marketing their game very well.
01:32Isn't this way of marketing the game?
01:34You know, get the flamethrower in there?
01:36You know, that sort of thing.
01:38I'm trying to find justification here, even though I know it's not fair to the guys who didn't make it.
01:42But I think that's where baseball is going with this.
01:44But, yeah, it's five starts.
01:46And you're probably right that the fact that he did it against the Dodgers earlier this week and he had 12 strikeouts is probably a big part of this.
01:52And I guess he's not pitching Sunday, by the way, because he pitched Tuesday.
01:56Five days rest would be Sunday.
01:57It would be ironic he can't pitch anyway.
01:59But I guess they are told that he's not going to go Sunday.
02:03Yeah.
02:03By the way, it's very hard to keep up with all of these drops.
02:06I mean, maybe it's just me and I'm a prisoner of the moment.
02:08But it feels like more guys have dropped out of this All-Star game than I can remember in a long time.
02:12Like, every second I'm looking online, it's like, oh, this guy's out, this guy's out, that guy's out.
02:16Okay, Zach Gallin is your ace of the week, George.
02:20It hasn't been the best year for him.
02:22But he could easily turn it around and be a great second-half guy.
02:25Yeah, you know, Salon, sometimes one of the reasons I choose who I choose is because I'll give us something to talk about here as far as what will the Diamondbacks do.
02:33You already said it.
02:33Gallin has not been that ace or that young guy he was a couple of years ago.
02:38Pitch very well against the Yankees and Mets because he's good against New York teams.
02:41Arizona's been so-so this season, right?
02:43You lost Corbin Burns here.
02:45There's definitely news that they could trade Suarez.
02:48They could trade Naylor, Gallin, Merrill Kelly.
02:51They have a lot of players that teams want here.
02:53Will they move Gallin?
02:54That's why I chose him there.
02:55Will they move him by the deadline?
02:57He's pitching better of late.
02:58He's going to be that guy.
03:00So he pitched very well this week.
03:02We'll see what he does over the weekend in the start here.
03:04But I do wonder if he's maybe the top pitcher moved or the top three pitcher moved by the deadline.
03:09And remember, Diamondbacks lost Corbin Burns, lost Jordan Montgomery.
03:13If they trade Gallin or Kelly, do they have enough healthy arms to finish out the season?
03:19Good question.
03:20All right.
03:21Another good question is, how did Sam know that Brandon Woodruff had such a good start against Miami?
03:25This guy was on vacation last week.
03:26Six innings pitched, one earned run, eight strikeouts, no walks.
03:31His first start in a really long time, I believe over a year.
03:34Woodruff is another, you know, one of those pitching projects that the Milwaukee has to try and figure out.
03:40Not that he's been a project in the past, George, but when you have a pitcher that hasn't pitched in over a year
03:45because of Tommy John surgery, you got to sort of tinker with things.
03:48But Mizorowski, Woodruff, Peralta, how do they do it, George?
03:53Every year, the Brewers, man, every year.
03:57It is the pitching, carrying them, and then piecing everything together.
04:00A dangerous team if they get into the postseason.
04:03Yeah, they won't be fun.
04:06Although we're hearing noise that they could trade Peralta, do a sort of do a Josh Hader there,
04:09trade a guy who's still good in a playoff year because that's how they have to operate here.
04:14But they develop pitches very well here.
04:17Remember, Woodruff, I feel good for Woodruff because he had some setbacks while the Tommy John,
04:22not familiar with Tommy John, but he hurt his ankle or his leg, whatever it might be.
04:25So that set him back a couple of weeks here to a month, and he comes back and he pitches very well on his first start.
04:30We'll see if that can continue here.
04:32We've certainly been very good news for the Brewers.
04:33I mentioned earlier, only one game behind the Cubs.
04:37And, yes, I do remember in the preseason you predicting the Brewers, I believe, to make the playoffs,
04:41maybe even win with the vision.
04:42So, well, good for you because I honestly didn't have all that much faith in the Brewers.
04:45I thought this would finally catch up to them of losing top pitchers over and over and over again.
04:50And that's why you know the players here, but good for the Brewers.
04:53Game behind the Cubs.
04:54Could be a fun division race.
