Jill Reidy built a Perspex dome in her back garden, which lights up at night.

She uses the quirky outdoor living space for reading and knitting in peace during the day, and entertaining friends after dark - when it is illuminated with funky lights that change colour.

Jill, from Blackpool, describes the pod as her 'sanctuary'.

00:00When I go in I just feel really calm. It's my little haven so I go in, I always
00:08take my morning coffee in and I have a planner I use every day so I write my
00:13plans down for the day and I like reading. I've got the radio in there, I like
00:18listening to the radio.
00:22We're in there with the lights on and you know you can look out and see that
00:27it's dark out here and you feel like you're sort of enclosed and it's warm if
00:33it's been in the sun in the day and sometimes during the day it's too hot.
00:37I'm a terrible hoarder anyway and collector so bit by bit I just kept
00:43adding things to it. I'd bought the furniture, I'd seen that and I thought
00:47that'll fit perfectly and then I'd got a table that I'd bought for somewhere else
00:53that I'd never really used. I thought that'll do and then I've just kept
00:56adding all sorts of things.
01:01It was all set up, put together and I loved it and then three weeks later we
01:08had a really big storm and it blew down so that was a real disaster. I could hear
01:14the storm and I came out at about five in the morning and I looked out and the
01:19whole dome was like a balloon and it was just blowing up like that and then coming
01:24down and blowing up coming down and then eventually it just went totally and it
01:30was right across the garden. They guarantee them up to a wind speed of I think 70
01:37miles per hour but the storms that we had in December they were about 90 so I was a
01:45bit worried the second time. The panels overlap on the outside so you don't get rain
01:52coming in. There's a little gap at the bottom which I could seal and you might
01:58get a little bit of rain running in along the grooves of the decking but it
02:02doesn't come right in. When I was a kid I used to love like dolls houses. My friend
02:11had a brick built Wendy house that her dad had built for her and she had all bits and
02:16pieces in there like a proper house and I just loved it and so then we had a summer house but
02:24it was wooden and it we'd had it 25 years and it was sort of falling to bits so that
02:29had been a bit of a sanctuary for me and I used to go in there and sit and read and write
02:32it and then I got this. We do get birds and I've sort of been encouraging them but we've
02:41got two big fat pigeons who keep trying to come and eat the food. I've got the
02:48thing on the side with food in and the pigeons get on the top and they're so
02:55big and they they try to sort of balance on the top and then get their beaks down
03:00but they're so unwieldy. When I go in I just feel really calm and I've had loads
03:08of people round it's called Wits End so I've said to come round to Wits End so
03:13I've had quite a few afternoons and evenings with friends round and it just
03:18is a nice vibe and it's got the lights that come on at night and yeah it's my
03:24little haven.
