Rain didn't stop the celebrations as the third annual Indian Culture Festival took place on Blackpool Comedy Carpet.

Chris Webb MP gives a short speech, with his little boy close-by, and Mayor Kim Critchley also expresses her admiration for the dancing, costumes and hospitality.

The event was organised by Fylde Coast Hindu Society.

00:00I just want to thank Chirag and all the organisers and everyone who's put this fantastic event on
00:08today. This is the third one that we've had here in Blackpool, it's the third one I've attended
00:13with my wife, Councillor Porter Webb, and our second one with this little terror.
00:21But yeah, we need more of this in Blackpool. This showcases the best of our town and it's
00:27something we need to continue to do. So I'm going to stop there before you pull my tie.
00:30Thank you so much for inviting us. Thank you all for attending. Let's have a great day.
00:38Yes, that's it. Bring your applause, everybody.
00:43What began is a simple idea to celebrate a vibrant heritage.
00:48Has over these past three years grown into a powerful expression of unity, culture and heritage.
00:57This festival is more than just music, dance, colours, food. It is a celebration of who we are,
01:07a reflection of richness of India, its diversity, its deep-rooted values and its timeless spirit
01:16of community cohesion.
01:18I have to say that I'm extremely impressed by the wonderful displays of the dancing that we will see
01:26later, the beautiful costumes which we see on display, and I have no doubt the enormous work
01:32that has gone into bringing everything together. This along with the hospitality and friendship
01:40which is shown to all who are here today, truly demonstrates what is the very best of Blackpool.
01:54The popularity of this amazing celebration is clearly shown by the sheer numbers which it attracts
02:01and we see here once again today, and we see here once again today.
