00:00this program contains images and videos of extreme violence and offensive language that
00:10may be hard to watch viewer discretion is strongly advised in my career as a drug trafficker for
00:20bmf i did about 250 or so runs between cocaine millions of dollars pills guns every single
00:31trip jabari takes his life in his hands you have to be ready to die for that cocaine you have to be
00:36ready to lie steal and kill so that cocaine or that money can go from a to b mexico's finest is
00:44being trafficked across the nation by bmf or black mafia family bmf is the walmart the costco the
00:51sam's club of the cocaine trade we're talking the massest amount of cocaine this 500 person
00:58enterprise supplies over 25 cities across three time zones it is headed by a pair of brothers
01:03demetrius meech and terry t flannery if you're scared stay where you at don't get in that car
01:10because they know where your family lives march 16 2004 was a bad day jabari leaves st louis for la
01:19in a limousine riddled with traps traps are modifications to a vehicle that can't be
01:26recognizable by law enforcement the limo is stretched in the middle so now you got 10 feet
01:31worth of compartments that you can put the drugs in traps and jabari's limo are concealing nearly
01:38600 000 he pulls onto i-44 and sirens roar get pulled over by the police i don't care it's my
01:47job right occupational hazard jabari plays the role as rehearsed he asked me you got any money in the
01:54car i said yeah maybe 30 or some change no do you have money backup arrives detectives swarm jabari's
02:01limo but i'm watching everything and they come back out of the car nothing but when that good old
02:08boy came back with that hilt and saw i knew it was going down
02:12you know what that good old boy said when he came back knocked on that glass
02:20he pulled up that vacuum sealed money he said you you the cops pressure jabari to talk
02:29but he sticks to the bmf code death before dishonor you don't allow the feds the police
02:36or anybody else infiltrate bmf law enforcement can't detain someone for having cash even a
02:43titanic amount they have to prove it's connected to dirty business so jabari is released the big
02:50concern came after i got back to atlanta and nobody was talking to me t felt like jabari was
02:59gonna tell he's like man he's not gonna hold up i don't trust him t was making other suggestions
03:04i didn't know if the feds was coming i didn't know if bmf was coming i didn't know if i was taking
03:09a dirt nap after days of sweating jabari has paid a visit salsa came to pick me up there wasn't no
03:16call it was just a pull up he had that look in a scene straight out of scarface sosa delivers a
03:24trembling jabari to the boss nietzsche said the coldest most gangster thing he could ever say
03:31you're gonna change the plan up limos can't carry enough you're doing something different
03:37more money less work looking like what i'm not gonna die and i'm gonna make more money
03:45three weeks later on easter sunday got me a fresh new id ken and tori collins so i went right back
03:53on the road no kingpins trafficked with the swagger of bmf nobody in law enforcement could get over the
04:02fact that there was a successful national black drug organization that kept their shit together
04:08and blew under the radar and dealing directly with mexican cartels
04:11bmf's legacy should be way bigger than a cartel bmf was a cultural movement
04:23people weren't throwing money like that for years afterwards the strippers would say
04:33y'all ain't doing it like bms
04:34the flannery brothers built a cocaine syndicate unlike any feds had seen
04:49painting white lines from coast to coast
04:51i've never seen so much money just with monies and white teeth
04:56every entertainer athlete or whatever everybody want to live like they selling kilos bmf doesn't
05:04lurk in the shadows using an entertainment company as a front they stunt hard to keep up appearances
05:10and a few times i went out with them it blew my head off bmf is a circus
05:16bmf rich but there's one clear ringleader
05:20he was demetrius flannery he is the show that's the american dream everybody want to live like they
05:26sell dope
05:27the lifestyle is a far cry from the street in detroit where they sold rocks as teens
05:33demetrius tested out of math and english coming to high school so he was already a brilliant person
05:42demetrius where everybody likes him he doesn't try to be like he just got that oral body
05:48terry on the other hand is quiet and he don't want to seem like he's soft or he's in the shadow
05:55of his brother it was a rivalry there going on terry had to be better or do better than his big
06:01brother their childhood is rough demetrius and terry live in a neglected area of detroit
06:06called the hole they were really poor man it was almost sad demetrius and terry had to stay the
06:13same size in order to switch clothes with each other demetrius takes odd jobs but isn't earning
06:19enough he sees one industry thriving in his neighborhood a cheap drug with a speedy high
06:25they say crack cocaine can make a fat woman skinny i've seen people not feed their children not buy
06:31food for them not buy shoes for them not pay their rent growing up in the height of the crack epidemic
06:36was like chernobyl every black family was hit everyone could do it and make it i saw my mother
06:43smoke crack my mother was one of the most beautiful women you've ever see to see her go to like 90
06:49pounds devastation for some means opportunity for others local dealer edrick ed boyd is raking it in
06:58as are his corner boys demetrius wanted that american dream that they didn't seem to be able to find
07:05ready for the game demetrius asked edrick for a job i'm riding on the handlebars while we selling
07:11drugs and now i'm even knowing that we could get in that much trouble demetrius's people skills mixed
07:17with terry's head for numbers makes the flannery's a dream team they just blew up edrick would keep
07:23upping the amounts that he would give them my role i've always done it i would go and get the bag
07:28i'll go pick the packages up bring it back flush with cash the boys get flash run dmc came out we
07:36rocking kangos adidas no shoestrings in them big gold ropes yeah we rocking all that mitch looks up to
07:43run for style but another man for business say hello to my little friend
07:49we will watch that practically every day all day we actually wore the tape out
07:56demetrius's whole dream was to be bigger than scarface but he's going to do it smarter and
08:04strategically we got to expand new york chicago l.a but the drug game is dangerous both brothers take a
08:12bullet meech in the neck terry in the eye he trade was small and there's a lot of a lot of dealers
08:19there and there's only so many people you can sell to the flannery brothers realize their potential
08:25is limited by their market in 90 demetrius goes to atlanta after him and i breaks up seated at the
08:35intersection of multiple highways the atl is ideal for moving drugs from florida to michigan
08:41west to california meech believed that if he could sell a better product at a lower price
08:46that he could do well in atlanta cocaine is called work or yayo in bulk it's known as weight
08:53and it's sosa's job to get it where it needs to go everywhere i go i knew the skycap so i could
08:59curbside check the bag in half hour before the flight i would tip each one of five thousand dollars
09:04put all the tags on it make it look good they pay the guys to be putting it on you got 50 keys that's
09:09heavy i get a wing seat and i sit there and i watch it come up bam it was exciting adrenaline i felt it
09:15felt sexy you know just like yeah got the ass meech conquers atlanta but the flannery's can only sell
09:22as much blow as they can get their hands on drug dealing is just like anything else if you don't
09:27have the supply chain and distribution you can't have growth in the mid-90s meech and terry get a connect
09:32in texas texas was where we really first started getting a hold of some consistency and some weight
09:38more weight allows the flannery's to drop a franchise in cities like st louis and louisville
09:44they convince local talent why they're the plug why reinvent the wheel you have the people already
09:49in place that know the city we're just going to offer them a better product meech and terry even
09:54get rival gangs like bloods and crips to work together it wasn't always like fighting and competition
10:00because everybody had a plate that was full but expansion brings exposure the name meech crosses
10:09the desk of dogged dea agent jack harvey meechie was named by an informant as the suspected shooter
10:18of dennis kingsley walker another detroit guy who had relocated to atlanta meech would be considered
10:25the teflon don although he may have been charged nothing actually stuck but agent harvey vows to
10:31keep an eye on meech in 1999 meech and terry hit the motherlode when they earned the trust of the
10:39mexican cartel they went from a low-budget amex to a black card with no limit next thing you know
10:45this bag was there it was off we never ran out terry moves to los angeles to manage the relationship
10:53with the cartel the plenaries have the weight to be wholesalers now they just need a name
10:59everything is falling into place for black mafia family until
11:04september 11 had a huge impact on the bmf today we take permanent and aggressive steps
11:17to improve the security of our airways the bad guys stopped going to airports because they knew
11:24airports were flooded with law enforcement you probably couldn't get on a flight with a false
11:29bottom suitcase no more with some drugs you had to figure out another way with the feds focused on
11:35the sky bmf turns to the road and an age-old hack traps they've been around since the beginning of
11:42time al capone driving his ford model t hiding liquor from the police the mastermind behind bmf's
11:49traps is a man in miami named piorino varelli varelli is a mad scientist
11:55for the frame of the trap varelli uses state-of-the-art materials
12:09it was aircraft grade aluminum because you want it light right you don't want the car leaning
12:13because you got 300 pounds of cocaine in it bmf is meticulous his modifications are undetectable to
12:20the human eye and his traps are deoxygenated or airtight as a traffic you think about the dog
12:26what do you do to police because you're like what is the dog gonna smell bmf's true genius is in
12:31designing complex combinations for each mobile safe for the streets that are watching i'll give
12:37you a sample of what it would be one of the ways to unlock them is you would turn on the engine you
12:44have to have your foot on the brake the defroster on turn the four-way flashers put the driver's side
12:49window down halfway and blow the horn do the hokey pokey actuators will go and holding another button
12:56down while operating your window switch would now operator c a trooper is not going to know that the
13:04traps allow bmf to grow exponentially in the late 90s bmf was pulling in 1 million dollars a year
13:11by 2002 they're making that amount each week none of them is more liquid than me well i can go grab a
13:19million dollars throw it out the car and you got them and go grab a couple more the first time you
13:23ever see a million dollars it's like the first time you've seen a naked woman that you are about to
13:28have sex with cherry had a coup that counter money he like all the dollar bills based on one way if
13:35it's out of order he'll have them restack it all over again a million dollars and hundreds you breeze
13:40through that but the 20s somebody's been holding that 20 it's wrinkled up it's been on a donkey you
13:47get so bougie when you like man i gotta count a million dollars in 20s the brothers were making
13:52so much cash they had to spend it because they couldn't store it the flannery spend their cash
13:58on whips meach bought a bentley azure and mary j blige did that pepsi commercial with meach wears his
14:04drug money for all to see including the cops meach purchased a million dollar pi j watch it was
14:11sparkling it was shiny meach felt like i'm a die baller you catch me you're gonna catch me in a couple
14:18million dollars worth of jewelry because if i sit down for 30 years i'm gonna have some memories
14:23meach's main spot for making memories the strip club when bmf went into a club they didn't buy a
14:29section they bought the entire club all the liquor they would be passing out bottles of moat like
14:36you're passing out paper napkins big meach was normally mobbed up white tees jewelry cop the hats
14:42came in deep it could be almost from 60 to 75 people just in his entourage when they were smoking
14:49the best marijuana 700 an ounce weed it was like before i leave can i can i take some of this
14:55they'll be like yeah go ahead and get what you need grab a handful put it in your purse
15:00deuces it's all free free 99 it's like a fishing rod it's how you reel the real money in
15:08i go out spend fifty hundred thousand dollars every night now you got a couple dudes been sitting in
15:14the corner watching that want to spend a couple million dollars which it's a gimmick mexican cartels
15:19refuse small bills so bmf finds a use for them they will have garbage bags filled up with one
15:25hands and vives that would be their tip money at the strip club
15:29the phrase make it rain you should see bmf in the dictionary
15:35meach gave me a stack and said tip yourself my hands getting tired
15:40meach's wild lifestyle isn't just a lure it's a distraction even though they were extravagant
15:48in their spending they were pretty careful in their actual criminal conduct and i was good at
15:54being in front of the camera and not doing nothing wrong but bawling bawling is not a crime
16:00what law enforcement didn't realize is there was a shadow crew that was moving to work across the
16:05country discipline is key when you're trafficking astronomic quantities of cocaine everything that
16:12you do is to not raise attention to yourself to stay off the radar the car must be immaculate i'm
16:19looking for any remnants of drugs after they vacuum i'm going over the car one time my numb my tongue got
16:26numb because i touched something that was a flake and i tasted it and it was cocaine that dog smells
16:33that molecule is over for me the route must be extensively researched definitely don't go through
16:40rock and saw it'll cut three hours off your time but it's going to give you 30 years which one you
16:45want the timing must be precise i deliberately went from place to place sleeping in little cheap hotels
16:52and to see when the police shifts changing i had the whole country on schedule i go around halfway for
16:58about a good two hours to make sure that the coast is cured even the comms have to be on lock
17:03whoever you just left you need to have a phone that's dedicated only to them they don't call
17:11their mama their daddy their wife on that phone you have another phone for that person receiving the
17:16work the third phone i would have just for my wife it was a necessity that you keep new numbers when
17:21i'm done with a mission i discard it and then i get a new each element of bms sprawling enterprise
17:28is sophisticated and deliberate your traditional drug dealer but this trap house you have someone
17:33with a scale inside cooking crack cocaine this will be your typical waffle house operation right
17:39demetrius flannery chose not to do that this is going to be your steakhouse operation i got lavish
17:46homes lavish spots all over this these were upscale neighborhoods that these houses were in your
17:52neighbors thinking okay maybe this is a limousine service so it would explain the traffic terry never
17:58believed in leaving his limousine outside every house that we had we knocked the wall down and
18:03made it where the limousine would fit up in there in each of the 11 hubs in their network mitch and
18:07terry owned multiple homes though never in their own name there was the lab house this house is where
18:13all of the drugs was being taken to then there was a whole separate house called the money house
18:19you never mixed it two because in the event of a home invasion everything is gone it was like these
18:25guys read the handbook on selling drugs mitch and terry have a shared objective get that coin but
18:32they disagree on how to do it mitch and terry they they were like night and day they were totally
18:37opposites and had different philosophies on how the drug trade should go the flannery's are getting
18:42pure cocaine from the cartels the main unforgettable characteristic of cocaine is the smell a real
18:49strong gasoline smell mitch moves fast getting rid of his work as soon as he gets it but t takes his
18:55time and cuts his coke for every seven kilos there was actually one kilo added through the agent that
19:02they were adding to it and they were pressing it back together and rewrapping it into kilo form if you
19:09had a thousand kilos you could add about 150 kilos it greatly increases profitability all of that takes time
19:16and you run the risk of law enforcement discovering where the workshop is the dynamic between t and
19:24mitch was not sibling rivalry but two grown men who are both bosses that think that they could run
19:33their organization better it is the competition between brothers that will eventually decimate the black
19:39mafia families empire as kids the flannery's problem was not having any money as adults their problem is
19:49having too much you don't want to keep all this bulk currency on you a robbery fire anything could just
19:56eliminate this money to most the obvious answer is bring the benjamins to a bank to a drug lord that'd be
20:03like turning yourself in a person may be a drug dealer and he's gotten two hundred thousand dollars
20:09in proceeds well he can't take that two hundred thousand dollars and deposit it into the bank because
20:14it will have red flags in 1970 richard nixon did fellow crooks dirty well i'm not a crook when he signed
20:22into law the bank secrecy act requiring that financial institutions report to the irs daily transactions in
20:29excess of ten thousand dollars and in 1984 the irs recruited more narcs if you go out you buy a bmw
20:38and you bought it with cash the car dealership has to file a form realtors jewelers hoteliers all have
20:45to alert the irs when someone drops 10 large or more to spend their money without raising suspicion
20:51bmf has to launder it when i was a money launderer working undercover i had a number of businesses that
20:58were used to launder drug proceeds you want to get yourself involved in cash businesses so it's
21:03giving you a front but it's also offering you an asset if you've got a restaurant well that's ideal
21:08but terry had a fish house he had several locations in st louis they had some good ass fish but to be
21:15honest with you don't nobody want to eat that food because they wasn't cleaning that bitch that was nasty
21:20but they had good food terry invests in everything from a luxury car dealership to a daycare
21:26but terry's most brazen scheme is enlisting the state of michigan to launder his money for him
21:33the daily report number four today is three bmf's lottery ticket scam worked by having sources to
21:41identify people who had winning lottery tickets bmf then pays the lucky person cash for their winning
21:48ticket now i can file a tax return and show that i've got income from the lottery even though i
21:54didn't as if to taunt authorities bmf washes a million dollars with winning lottery tickets
22:00it's an ingenious scheme true to form meach's approach to money laundering is the polar opposite
22:06of terry's the vision that bmf had was for them to be the number one entertainment company in the
22:19world everything from promotions touring recording feature films you name it bmf entertainment catapults
22:28meach into the big leagues he rubs elbows with hip-hop's elite but the label goes all in on one artist
22:36blue da vinci blue da vinci was an up-and-coming rapper who never came up
22:46burns when he first brought me the blue da vinci cd i just threw the whole stereo away i just with the
22:56cd in it it was just that bad even bmf members admitted that it was whack bmf entertainment is the
23:03perfect cover for bmf the drug ring in more ways than one bmf would do these concerts they would
23:09have to move equipment with these large road cases on wheels some had a false bottom under it that
23:15would contain drugs money and or weapons and they'll swap during the concert with no social media to
23:22amplify blue's name meach invests in the medium of the day print renita clay started off as a nail
23:29technician and she also began publishing a monthly magazine called juice magazine
23:34juice was another way to clean the green when these magazines were put out on the magazine stand
23:44bmf would send people just to go buy 100 copies just to launder their money right back through it
23:49again meach's profile has never been bigger and neither has the target on his back
23:54demetrius flanori was identified by a witness and a warrant was secured for his arrest over 25
24:04live rounds leave windows shattered and lamont gertie lifeless in the street anthony wolf jones
24:11is riddled with bullets one tearing through his chest he's rushed to grady memorial where death
24:17finishes with the shooters started anthony wolf jones was the former bodyguard for puff daddy when
24:25you cross leading lines the big bad wolf you're gonna blow your house down wolf was acquitted along
24:29with combs on weapons charges in connection with a new york nightclub shooting despite wolf's reputation
24:35he and meach are tight that is until closing time on november 11 2003 wolf and meach had a great
24:43relationship but like anything all it takes is abroad to get in the mix and get up for meach and
24:50the crew it's a typical night of booze bud and broads then wolf shows up and sees his ex hanging with bmf
24:58women were leaving their men for the guys in bmf left and right these super rich so these girls are
25:05like this i'm going over here with these allegedly wolf puts his hands on the woman meach steps in
25:11he kind of grabbed me and then the security came they kicked wolf out the club which that's a huge no
25:18no there's girls in there so it was embarrassing and disrespectful anthony wolf jones calls lamont
25:25gertie to bring the guns heat in hand gertie and the spurned wolf post up on meach's cadillac
25:32meach came out the door with the club owner and he seen them and they up the guns and it was shots fired
25:38meach turned around and he got hit in the ass next thing you know them guys was on the sidewalk
25:45laying out there in the street gunned down atlanta police chief richard pennington announcing the
25:50arrest tonight 15 and a half hours after buckhead's bar district became a shooting range another associate
25:57of meach amin height known as bull he gets shot in the foot meach seeks treatment for his gunshot wound
26:04while at the hospital he's taken into custody by atlanta pd the interview starts bad one of the
26:13homicide investigators asked demetrius flannery to have a seat and meach tells him how the can i sit
26:19down when i got a bullet in my ass he made this statement about one of my guys jumped on top of me
26:26so the interviewer says well like you're the president i mean what's that all about what uh and meach goes
26:31now that's just somebody just trying to make another hundred dollars like meach is a big
26:35celebrity and i really think he made the detectives so mad the decision was made to to charge him based
26:42on shaky eyewitness testimony meach is charged with double homicide in georgia homicide is death penalty
26:49so they was trying to give him the needle meach has been good to the people of atlanta and they rally
26:54behind him meach did not cooperate with law enforcement which is he talks about death before
27:00his honor keep your mouth closed so it just gives him even more street cred he became a huge celebrity
27:06when he was in jail people that started to march around with free meach t-shirts and those shirts
27:12just absolutely drove me crazy the case against meach is weak the apd did a gunpowder residue test on the
27:20two guys that had bullet holes in them and height did come out positive meach did not it really was just
27:26a dog's breakfast of a case all the cases in the world you could bring you wait to the one where
27:31he's actually justified meach cocky as ever appeals to the court for permission to break house arrest
27:38but as the evidence kept growing weaker the court didn't really have the juice to
27:44deny his request to make a trip to cancun mexico
27:47meach damn big ass plane full of people everybody on there was going to the party he paid for it
27:56you had all kinds of movie stars all the mega goods and music industry people you name it everybody
28:02was in there this is a guy that's fontan i got money i beat this charge i'm just going to keep
28:08getting bigger and better each time but what it's doing is infuriating terry terry's thing is sit your
28:14ass down somewhere man chill but meach can't chill i can't say to tone myself down because then i i
28:21wouldn't be being me i am the man that i always wanted to be terry is furious convinced that meach's
28:28behavior will attract more attention from the law terry was low-key at this point he was living good
28:34terry just wanted them to concentrate on being legit or appearing legit what t doesn't know is that
28:38two weeks before meach's arrest the feds opened a multi-state multi-agency investigation on him
28:47despite the next level showboating of meach it is terry who the feds are on to when the club chaos
28:53shootings happened detroit was cooking up a case on terry flannery and a wiretap on a couple of terry's
29:02phones phone use is another way the flannery's are oil and water demetrius flannery is not going
29:09to be on the phone terry's a talker terry can't keep the phone out of his hand of terry's 10 or so
29:15phones detroit dea is wiretapping several of them i don't like my arm i'm gonna have to go with
29:23no choice that's who you with quit doing what you want to do and do what i tell you to do
29:29throughout the course of operation motor city mafia feds will intercept hundreds of calls with terry
29:44in atlanta a parallel investigation is ears up on bmf low-level members but they're working
29:50their way to the top we started with i think 13 people two months later we had over 350 people in
29:57the minimization earrings with access to operations the feds are able to intercept runs from meach's
30:03camp jabari hayes on march 16th from terry's crew pig and playboy in missouri on april 5th
30:09and on april 11th after meach decides limos aren't big enough jabari hayes is pulled over again
30:16i was riding in the rv 112 miles away from st louis i was going to drop the load fly down to atlanta
30:26i just had a new baby i have fiance i get pulled over and i'm loaded the officer asked me to step
30:34out the rv he's like do you party i know what party means for white people i was like no sir the drug
30:41dog says otherwise the kilos are in suitcases in the tour bus if you didn't have compartments and
30:46traps we called it cowboy because you was out there like a cowboy just ride they find the drug
30:52load and that's 113 kilos and that's worth multiple millions of dollars i got house arrest i told meach
31:00look i get three hours to go to church if you need me to make some runs i'm with it terry responds to
31:07the bus by increasing precautions terry implemented a system to where when those cars came in dogman was
31:14responsible for getting those vehicles swept now i run them to my guy and he would make sure they
31:19were swept for bugs meach responds by balling out there's nothing about a surveillance of the
31:24meach refinery that's normal june 21st 2004 bryant and jack are clocking out when they get a tip
31:31birthday party for big meach club compound six hours into the surveillance i kind of nodded off
31:38a little bit and i wake up and i thought that i was in a dream because i see a lion walking down the
31:45street who was in touch with an animal giraffe and a tiger he brought these wild animals to his birthday
31:53party well he making up for the childhood he never had so he's just like a big kid it's big even for meach
32:00his name in six foot lights a bmf ice sculpture and the women they're nude but it's just body paint
32:07all over them the club was stupid stupid thick and people were passing me blunts and bottles
32:20and i just kept wiping my eyes like am i dreaming this is real i was sick that i didn't go i was on
32:25house arrest we love to spend our money we can't take none of this with us
32:29none ain't no armor trucks pulling up at no funeral meach knows the feds are on his tail
32:36and he doesn't give a in fact he bankrolls a 500 000 music video of bmf entertainment's soul artist
32:43what's truck fully loaded with the carbon 15 and when it's time for beef my car beam so many rips
32:50pulling up you would think it's a car featuring helicopter aerials a caravan of luxury vehicles
32:55and himself yo meach i got the deal of a lifetime i don't mean no deal don't mean nothing to me
33:03there's a 18 wheeler truck moving through the video and wrapped in this vinyl that says vml
33:09meach may as well take out a billboard advertising his drug cartel in the middle of 2004 that's exactly
33:16what he does i'm driving to work one day and there's meach like he's a ceo behind a desk the bmf
33:23billboard said the world is bmf they were modeled after scarface
33:29meach leases multiple billboards around atlanta in their minds it was bmf entertainment but the
33:36streets was like these is the cartel the cartel got billboards up i think each put up the billboard
33:42for the same reason that ulysses mocked the cyclops after he blinded him wanton hubris
33:49meach's hubris is the final straw for terry there was an interception of a phone call terry was just
33:55commiserating with his sister about meach's wild conduct terry made some comment that meach's
34:01activities were going to put them away for life he could do a nickel but he couldn't do a dime
34:05despite dealing drugs for nearly two decades terry has never spent a night in jail
34:10he'll do whatever it takes to keep it that way terry put a hit out on his brother on the wiretaps
34:16terry told his sister i gotta get rid of him the guy that terry paid to kill his brother told
34:23demetrius the guy asked demetrius so what you want me to do he said well keep the money and act as if
34:30you never caught up to me the envy and that rivalry had been there since the 80s demetrius was just so
34:37tore up about it he had never think that his little brother would go to those limbs while the plenaries
34:42beef the atlanta task force lays in wait during this investigation with the bmf you don't have any
34:48cooperating sources what do you do sit back and wait for them to make mistakes in the summer of
34:542004 two people close to meach make critical mistakes omari mccree was one of the first dealers
35:02that we were able to capture on a wire with all of the heat bmf is facing meach makes a change
35:09meach has ordered everybody nobody's to sell anything you go dark nothing but omari is sitting on
35:15nine kilos and he's got a buyer stake number one in direct defiance of meach's decree omari coordinates
35:22the sale with his buddy jeffrey lear on a wiretapped line jeffrey lear was stopped by the atlanta police
35:29apex unit the nine kilos were seized though they now have a known bmf member on intent to distribute
35:36the task force takes a gamble i had a quick conversation with jeff identified myself you know
35:42took the drugs told him to have a nice day i questioned my partner why wasn't jeffrey lear
35:49arrested we're gonna look like we're on training date it was a pivotal moment because the minute
35:55we got back they couldn't wait they were on the phone jeff calls meach's assistant yogi and tells
36:01her what happened mistake number two yogi hands the phone to meach we finally got demetrius funnery
36:09talking on a telephone when i was there real time what happened there was high fives i'll admit
36:14their high stakes gamble pays off the task force now has what it needs to secure search warrants on
36:20meach's atlanta properties november 23rd 2004 in a series of coordinated raids authorities hit multiple
36:29bmf properties just about every search warrant we did we would come across guns to show the connection
36:36to the bmf and scarface we would seize a lot of the photographs after a while our evidence technicians
36:43say we got enough scarface we can make a scarface museum with all the photos at the space mountain
36:48house fed sees bmf jerseys a fake tennessee driver's license and kilo wrappings but no meach
36:56there was a pot on the stove it was still hot there was a blunt burning meach had a task force on
37:02payroll so he knew every move that was going on beforehand demetrius fluttery by all accounts he ran
37:08out in his underwear he was in a robe there was no great amount of drugs seized no defendants were
37:14there but they did leave a couple of vehicles behind including this hummer stretch limo we highly
37:20suspected this vehicle had traps in it they attacked that vehicle they put it up on a lift they had
37:26scopes and mirrors and all the tools and they didn't find any traps that vehicle was confiscated
37:33seized and sold at auction by the dea though they don't get enough to take meach down the task force
37:39considers it a win we shut him down we ran him out of atlanta meach flees to miami though he's in a new
37:47city he's up to his old ways trafficking partying and renting a pad for thirty thousand dollars a month
37:54meach wanted to find a place where it was a studio we actually rented out gloria estefan's
37:58old home for the next 11 months operation motor city mafia builds their case there has to be
38:04confidence that we have enough evidence to convict everyone that we indict believing incorrectly that
38:11it's his brother who's bringing the heat terry shuts off all communication and meach flies closer to
38:17the sun in an audacious move he buys club chaos the site of his alleged double homicide and renames it
38:25club babylon he even sponsors welterweight boxer zab judah
38:36who wins the championship fight in las vegas both ballsy and brazen was the source award for blue
38:42da vinci you just show up at the source award pass a bag and now barima mcknight aka blue da vinci gets
38:49best up and coming rapper that that was payola despite all the bravado meach must have known
38:56this could all come crashing down at some point it's one thing to know it's another thing to change
39:02once you get addicted to that money and that lifestyle you know it's hard to let go who wants
39:07to go back being a regular person when you got everything in the world we had a contact an out
39:13road for meach to go to mexico he had an opportunity to just leave the country he wouldn't take it
39:19because he didn't want to leave his people behind if i was for self i could have grabbed a bunch of
39:23millions and been on somewhere where you can't be extradited but that wasn't what i was off for
39:28and with meach and striking distance the feds make their move it looked like maybe meach was preparing
39:35for a war with law enforcement maybe he envisions himself going down like tony montana
39:49after two painstaking years on operation motor city mafia it's time to indict bmf we're ready to
39:57sweep these guys up but the big concern is you don't want to have fugitives especially the kingpins
40:04so you want to grab them first run out of miami meach is in hiding the u.s marshals were tracking
40:13through phone records they were pretty sure that they they had him at this big house in frisco i had
40:182.3 million dollars one of the demonstrations that i was on my way to go see the meters in texas the feds
40:25breached the door meach is there he was standing on the back on the phone he saw him but they couldn't
40:30get in the gate so he called my mom and was told my mom to call me and tell me not to come don't show
40:37up meach is cuffed a swarm of agents scour the mansion there's a pound of marijuana and a whole
40:43lot of ecstasy pills and extensive amounts of jewelry worth about seven hundred thousand dollars
40:49stashed around the house feds find four firearms and a mag of ammo to penetrate kevlar they were ready
40:56to engage in a shootout but meach doesn't unleash a hail of bullets i was getting kind of tired you
41:02know me i'm popping pills smoking weed freaking getting money with big meach finally in the big
41:09house the crosshairs train on terry six days later terry is identified and located in a suburb of st louis
41:18terry was throwing a big gambling party when they were having fun smoking good agents bust in they
41:26apprehend terry more than a dozen bmf associates and over 600 000 dollars october 26 2005 is the first
41:37night terry flannery spends in jail what a waste of a life for them because they could have done anything
41:43they turn out to be quite brilliant men the scope of the bmf takedown is legendary over 150 people are
41:51indicted and 270 million dollars in assets are seized the 274 million came from the seizures of houses
42:01drugs cars jewelry that was not the money that we made we made billions over five million dollars in cash
42:1013 properties 630 kilos of cocaine and 35 vehicles are seized the cars and the jewelry gets converted
42:18into cash and those funds get distributed among the various law enforcement agencies we're bringing
42:26hundreds of thousands of dollars to these agencies of forfeiture everybody even law enforcement
42:32ate off meach and terry's plate and they continued to for years to come it was four years later some bmf
42:39defendants are cooperating a couple of them were saying you know that hummer limo that that does
42:44have traps in it i eventually decided i'm gonna have to find that vehicle and search it again that
42:49vehicle went through the hands of at least three owners i got a search warrant seized it and we brought
42:56in some georgia state troopers who were known to be the best at finding traps and these troopers could
43:02not find those traps the seats in the hummer were taken out and they were reinforced then our aircraft
43:08a woman so it was a very very tight fit special agent harvey throws a hail mary pass and brings in
43:14an suv specialist those people found the traps in the traps were eight hundred and seventy five
43:21thousand dollars in cash and seven handguns for four years that limo shuttled prom goers
43:26bachelorette parties corporate vips and almost a million dollars of drug money what i was gonna do
43:33when i came home was trace the pin number through the dmv to rent it and empty it out after serving
43:4016 years of his 30-year sentence terry is granted compassionate release in 2020. meech does 20 years
43:48behind bars and is released in 2024. the feds and streets alike wait to see what the flannery brothers
43:56will do next there's a part of me that admired mitch mitch himself single-handedly with bmf created
44:02a culture he took the lifestyle of a drug dealer which was in the shadows to throwing it in your
44:09face and this is how we get down there ain't no other crew like this in the world there never will
44:13be another not black so you better enjoy this shit
