00:00this program contains images and videos of extreme violence and offensive language that
00:10may be hard to watch viewer discretion is strongly advised
00:14September 21st 2008 a secluded barn surrounded by woods outside it's a peaceful country setting
00:26but inside one of the most violent gangs in America is getting down to business
00:33the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas what you're about to see and hear in Georgia are recordings taken at
00:46an ABT church meeting you and I might go to church once a week or once a month what gang members do is
00:52they go to the gang meetings and it's a very similarly called a church attendance is mandatory
00:59and so is compliance typically church meetings are held at a place that's not discernible to law
01:05enforcement they try to do it in secluded areas in a park they'll have it at someone's house the
01:09meeting is at the home of a man named Stephen Cook aka stainless stainless is a general in the brutal
01:19Aryan Brotherhood of Texas suck my dick most of the time these generals you don't hear anything
01:25about them they stay behind the scenes they don't want to draw attention to themselves but stainless
01:32there were pictures always showing up of him with all these firearms and when you draw attention
01:36nothing good's gonna happen he and his minions are about to enjoy one of their favorite pastimes
01:42putting punishment on members you're fighting man all of this is built on the idea of a direct order
01:49a deal let him up and if you refuse a direct order you pretty much forfeited your life when you
01:58violate the rules and the laws of the organization of the Colonel Enterprise you're going to be
02:02disciplined and that same thing happens within the ABT as well get him out of the truck ABT members live and
02:08die by the creed God forgives brothers don't in ABT you got the hustle and the muscle the hustle is the
02:18getting the money and the muscle is the enforcement of the rules and regulations and discipline we've
02:27seen examples of guys who were actually killed because they received direct orders to kill people
02:31and they didn't do it so they in fact themselves were killed the first order of business disciplining a
02:37prospect who has violated the brotherhood sacred code don't get high on your own supply now there's
02:44a price to pay they said look you got to slow down your narcotic use because it's having an
02:53influence on your behavior apparently he didn't do that and 12 other ABT members kicked him they beat
03:00him essentially left him for debt ABT is the largest white supremacist gang in Texas boasting thousands
03:11of members and counting and the only way to keep that many guys in line is with strict rules some
03:18enforced with deadly brutality the anti-defamation league ranked the ABT as the most violent extremist
03:25group in America responsible for more homicides than any other extremist group brutal beatings firebombs
03:33drug trafficking and murder are all part of ABT's alleged standard operating procedures from its earliest
03:43days as a white supremacist gang in the country's toughest prisons everybody wants to be the most feared gang we're not a pussy gang I think what makes the ABT so dangerous is their propensity for violence and their willingness to use it
03:45everybody wants to be the most feared gang we're not a pussy gang I think what makes the ABT so dangerous is their propensity for violence and their willingness to use it
03:55to its rise as a paramilitary meth ray with massive power in the outside world ABT is a murder ring because that's the ultimate way of establishing respect
04:11let other gangs know I'll kill my brother so what do I care about you I mean these guys are evil and they do evil shit
04:24everything is bigger in Texas even punishment since its inception the state's prison system has been harsh on inmates who have to survive relentless violence brutal living conditions and deep racial tensions
04:53in the early 70s prisoners are separated by race not saying they were best friends but you know people got along because you're living with like people
05:05understaffed prison officials use dangerous inmates to keep other inmates in line
05:11under this system white inmates are given preferential treatment and total control by correctional officers
05:19these prisoners are called building tenders the building tenders were the eyes and ears of
05:27administration they ran the cell blocks they ran the work squads and they would go back and let
05:33administration know like certain things were happening you might want to move these inmates because
05:38they're trying to start a gang in 1972 a lawsuit is filed by Latino inmate who alleges cruel and unusual
05:46punishment on the inside and the building tender system is abolished unleashing mayhem within prison walls
05:55when they took them out that creates a power vacuum now these gangs are able to grow by 1977 Texas prisons
06:04finally desegregate and a new world order forms now you're having to live with people you don't normally live
06:11with overnight white inmates find themselves mixed in with black and Latino inmates who are eager to
06:17settle the score after decades of abuse from white guards and building tenders within the prison system
06:24on race is everything irregardless of what neighborhood you from or what area you were born and raised in
06:31your race is going to be that deciding factor when I got to prison I wasn't racist but once I got to
06:36prison if you won't stand up for your race then that's seen as a reflection of weakness in yourself as a man
06:44most white offenders they call each other peckerwoods right say hey woods how are y'all doing and they'd say what
06:50are you calling us I said woods that's what y'all call yourself it would just tickle them to death when I would do that and I
06:55don't know why I guess because I'm black and telling them that I don't know a peckerwood is a white man that stands up for
07:01himself there's no ideology behind it with white inmates now the minority they become targets it's
07:08payback time any day room that you walk into in this system if you're white you're going to catch hell
07:14but one ruthless white inmate has a bold vision to protect his brothers on the inside and build a prison
07:21empire Bobby Adams was one of the founding members of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas he's a very prolific
07:29writer he was constantly sending out information to people on the outside Bobby Adams was very
07:37charismatic never disrespected me I like talking to him actually Adams is writing out a life sentence
07:45for armed robbery he's got just one Achilles heel I was shaking Bobby Adams sell down
07:51and he had a pet bird he kind of just looked at me pleading please don't do anything with my bird
08:01and I didn't didn't bother me Adams starts to recruit like-minded inmates and the ABT takes root
08:10by 1981 with a growing army of soldiers already under his wing Adams reaches out to the Aryan
08:16brotherhood of California a.k.a. the brand the brand the Aryan brotherhood of California is the original
08:25white prison gang they are the godfathers they have built their reputation on brutal murders
08:33Adams writes to the brand offering to form a Texas offshoot with roughly 20,000 members nationwide
08:43the Aryan brotherhood could transform into a great white kingdom stretching from Cali to Texas but the
08:50request is dead on arrival at that time there were no brand members in Texas prison so they said no
08:58so Adams goes rogue he gets to work writing a constitution for a renegade splinter cell the Aryan
09:07brotherhood brotherhood of Texas the ABT Constitution is the governing document for the ABT and that
09:13basically states everything that this group does and everything that's part of it Bobby Adams founds
09:18the ABT upon the sublime principle of white supremacy and no pretense is or will be made to the contrary the
09:26message is clear only whites are allowed and the brand is the blueprint members are referred to as the
09:34family and the ABT Creed is to preserve the safety and welfare of its members as a whole the Aryan
09:41brotherhood is pound for pound one of the most violent and dangerous groups in the prison system
09:48white supremacy becomes a cold-blooded calling card for Bobby Adams and the ABT they practice what
09:54they preach in the early 80s inmate murders are out of control in Texas prisons and ABT is making a name
10:00for itself as one of the deadliest gangs in the system direct orders come from the top of the
10:05paramilitary structure spread over five regions it's called the wheel the top part of the Aryan
10:12brotherhood of Texas is five generals the wheel is made up of those five members now you can move up
10:19through these ranks just really on the strength of your fists and your brain lieutenant is the first
10:26permanent rank an under lieutenant on the org chart is sergeant all members below that are only foot
10:33soldiers there's no paychecks for a prison gang number there's no retirement plan even at a corporation
10:39how do you reward your employees a promotion but to make it to captain in my day you pretty much had
10:46to stab somebody back when the ABT was formed the TDCJ had five particular regions so region one
10:55consists of Houston and Beaumont by the 1990s and 2000s region one is run by general Frank Roach aka Poncho
11:05so Frank Roach aka Poncho reminds me of Sam Elliott all right because he kind of looks like him a little
11:09bit at least in his younger days Frankie was one of those really old-school convicts I think he did a
11:16pretty good job at keeping those guys in line that's what gets me when somebody tells me something and
11:22they don't do what they tell me that really runs me hot because there's one thing you'll find out about
11:27me if I say it I mean it Poncho was a general amongst generals he was the one that would set guidance
11:34and leadership and from listening to some of Frankie Roach's phone calls this guy was very charismatic
11:39guess what you pulled off another call
11:42yeah yeah among those things region two includes the Dallas Fort Worth area and in the 1990s and 2000s
11:52it's run by the hardcore general stainless cook stainless guy's nickname because he always carried
11:57that stainless steel 45 caliber pistol with the pearl grips he looked like a band member in his easy top
12:03he had a long beard which was in a v-shape he was charismatic I remember particularly looking at some
12:08videos and some photos during a hurricane was trying to help out his neighbors but of course he did have
12:12that violent tendency and he had that violent streak just west of stainless is region two is region three
12:18the panhandle of Texas and the southwest portion of Texas is region four and then we swing back
12:24around to region five and that's going to consist of San Antonio and Corpus Christi men who want to join
12:31the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas are known as prospects the ABT members that I have spoke to that are lured into
12:39ABT ideology and gang life normally all didn't have that ideology until they got to prison what attracted me to
12:47ABT was felt very alone if you're solo you stand up for yourself it gets you so far but if you're part of an
12:55organization it gets you even farther at that time they were who I needed but the ABT requires a commitment
13:02that even the hardest of criminals don't take lightly to join ABT you sign a blind faith commitment like a
13:10contract it states that you will follow the orders of the organization and you will not betray the
13:17organization and that you accept that membership is for life breaking this blind faith commitment can
13:23get you marked for death it's a lesson one member learned in the worst possible way the Darrington
13:29unit south of Houston is considered one of the more violent units in the Texas prison system Virgil Barfield
13:36and another inmate called Calvin Massey are prospecting to become full ABT members they do a
13:44background check on you to see if you're worthy to join the gang Barfield had already killed another
13:49inmate in the penitentiary so they felt wow let's put him in there with us you know this guy's a true
13:54killer but Massey's another story Massey had already put the patch on he put it on before he became an
14:02actual member of the group so that's a no-no and supposedly he had been a punk to a black offender
14:09a punk is what we refer to when somebody has a girlfriend in prison but it's a guy so that too
14:18was a no-no the 21 year old feared for his life in letters home he wrote that he thought he would die
14:25here for Massey there's no coming back word comes down from the bosses it's time to end him
14:32so what they did is they told them both that they were going to have to take each other out
14:38if they had just told Barfield you're going to take out Massey Massey might have gotten an idea
14:44what the ABT will do to Massey will rattle even the most hardened prison officials
14:49and cement the gang's reputation for savagery in the white supremacist world and it's all caught on tape
14:56ABT sees a stark difference between their gang and certain white supremacist groups
15:11ABT never showed any respect for like the KKK
15:17they mostly just march around in bed sheets and talk a lot of game but they don't do anything
15:22you can see in prison you're expected to do violence
15:25the measure of a man is not your words it's what you'll do with your fists
15:30while there's no love between the KKK and ABT the same can't be said for Nazi symbolism
15:37the ABT uses a lot of neo-Nazi type symbology the SS lightning bolt the swatstick
15:43the other tattoo you'll often see are the numbers 14 and 88
15:47ABT lives by the 14 words written by white supremacist David Lane
15:52we must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children
15:56and 88 has a double meaning
15:58H is the 8th letter of the alphabet
16:00so 88 is HH or Heil Hitler
16:05but the numbers on their skin don't stop there
16:09those tattoos that were specifically for the ABT are the 112%
16:161 equals A, 2 equals B
16:18and so when you have 112 you are telling somebody that you are a 100% Aryan Brotherhood
16:23Tattooing these numbers on your skin makes what's called an official gang patch
16:29and ABT members go to savage lengths to protect the patch
16:33I was told a story about an Aryan Brotherhood of Texas captain
16:37apparently he had ordered that a guy that got in trouble with the group
16:41to have his patch removed and they said that he actually had that patch mounted in a frame
16:48and kept in his man cave
16:50fail to respect the patch and the ABT could end you
16:55the Darrington unit south of Houston is considered one of the more violent units in the Texas prison system
17:04Aryan Brotherhood of Texas prospect Calvin Massey has committed two offenses against the gang
17:09he's the punk or girlfriend of a black inmate
17:12and also had the ABT patch tattooed on him before becoming a full member
17:17ABT leaders make the call
17:20it's time to end Massey
17:22they turned to fellow prospect Virgil Barfield
17:26to carry out the green light
17:27every day there was something happening
17:31inmates were fighting
17:33inmates were you know
17:34going after officers
17:35so they figured let's
17:37the staff
17:38have a video camera there
17:39maybe nothing will happen
17:41if they see the video camera
17:42because then they'll be caught
17:43right
17:44on video
17:44so the first day that they put that video camera out there
17:48Barfield and Massey go to rec
17:50this new surveillance camera catches inmates exiting the day room
17:54while Barfield and Massey ready themselves for what comes next
17:58they had tied the shanks way up high in their groin area
18:05so that when they were searched they weren't really seen
18:08and so remember both of them have weapons
18:10because they've both been told they have to take the other out
18:13ABT rules state that members and prospects must obey direct orders
18:19even if that order is to kill another prospect
18:21if you don't kill him like you're ordered then you're going to be killed
18:26they point out to Massey
18:29see the video camera
18:30we're not going to have you take Barfield out
18:32just give us your weapon and we'll put
18:34we'll hide it here in the day room
18:35so now Massey is weaponless
18:39Barfield still has his weapon
18:41as the clock strikes 8.30 a.m.
18:47guards hear shouting and commotion coming from the day room
18:49Barfield chases Massey
18:52the guards on the other side of the bars
18:58call to Barfield to drop his shank
19:00but Barfield goes for the jugular
19:08it took 30 seconds for Barfield to inflict 41 stab wounds on him
19:12Barfield is standing there and you see him breathing heavily
19:23and he kind of looks at the camera
19:26and he walks over and he slits his throat
19:28and he's looking at the camera
19:38he looks dead at the camera like
19:40hey
19:41you know
19:42look what I'm doing
19:42less than 60 seconds after the attack began
19:49Massey lies bloody and still on the floor of the day room
19:52Barfield is also on the ground
19:54he's stripped and cuffed by a guard
19:56before he's led away
19:57Massey's assailant managed to conceal an 8-inch sharpened rod
20:03and prison officials also recovered a smaller handmade knife at the scene
20:08I mean inmates were killing each other every day
20:10here's one we actually have on camera
20:13the assault was videotaped by a guard from behind this metal grate
20:18the footage spreads like wildfire
20:20through the world of corrections
20:22this was on VHS
20:24you have to remember the times 1985
20:25we didn't have any social media back then
20:28so people were making copies of it
20:31to have for themselves
20:32and you'd watch it and you're like
20:34wow you know
20:35for the murder of Calvin Massey
20:37Virgil Barfield catches life in prison
20:39while the Barfield-Massey stabbing
20:43is a particularly brutal example
20:45prison beatdowns are par for the course in Texas
20:47there's a reason why
20:49the right to mutual combat
20:52under Texas law
20:54says two people who agree to a fight
20:57it's not a crime
20:58now there's some rules
21:00you can't use weapons
21:01it can't be extreme violence
21:03it's easy to see why fighting is so common
21:08it's not just tolerated
21:10it's deeply woven into the fabric
21:14of Texas prison life
21:16in Texas prison
21:21fist fighting is the culture
21:23the guards like it
21:27they encourage it
21:28they will often come on the block
21:30and watch it
21:31they gamble on it
21:32it's entertainment to them
21:34and it's a tradition
21:35according to one report
21:40by the 90s
21:41ABT has exploded
21:42throughout the prison system
21:43in Texas and beyond
21:44spilling over into neighboring states
21:46like New Mexico, Louisiana, and Oklahoma
21:49with over 2,000 soldiers at the ready
21:52ABT become experts of prison codes
21:55they communicate with kites
21:56written messages passed between inmates
21:59or sent to the free world
22:00behind bars
22:02kites are transferred tied to floss or string
22:05and when ABT members need to avoid the eyes of the guards
22:08they have a plan
22:09they have been very good with coding system
22:12it's actually an old ancient one
22:13that was actually used during the Nazi regime by Jews
22:17Dachau, factory of horror
22:19and it was the use of citrus juice or even urine
22:23it's like invisible ink
22:25pee in a cup
22:26you get some kind of implement
22:28to write with it
22:30let it dry
22:30once the recipient gets it
22:32they can heat it up
22:33over a flame
22:34or over their light bulb
22:35it turns brown
22:36and you can read it
22:38life is different on the inside
22:40and inmates do what they can to survive
22:43so you send guys to prison
22:45you're sending them to gladiator school
22:47and they're coming out
22:48with trauma
22:49and with gang relations
22:51and they're coming back to your city
22:53because putting prison gang members in prison
22:56doesn't do shit
22:58in the early 90s
23:00the ABT dominates the prison hierarchy
23:03but even among resourceful white supremacists
23:05internal power struggles
23:07threaten to weaken the gang
23:08a lot of these Aryan type gangs
23:12you know essentially
23:13kind of dispersed
23:14and formed their own thing
23:14related on whatever particular region
23:16that they were part of
23:17word starts to spread
23:18that ABT isn't looking out for its brothers
23:21there's chatter that white inmates are being raped
23:24assaulted and robbed
23:25throughout the prison system
23:26even going to the chow hall
23:28can be a death sentence
23:29one inmate named Mark Gaspard
23:34aka Cowboy
23:35steps up and makes a baller move
23:38he goes public
23:39and creates a manifesto
23:41that winds up in Playboy in 2001
23:43disgusted by ABT
23:46Cowboy forms a splinter cell
23:48the Aryan Circle
23:49Aryan Circle was more
23:53separatist
23:54we need to live in our own separate areas
23:56we shouldn't mix
23:57things like that
23:58the ABT is more the ideology
24:00the ABT and the AC didn't get along
24:03according to one report
24:05beginning in the 1990s
24:07AC membership skyrockets
24:08making it the second largest
24:10white supremacist gang in Texas
24:12and among the largest in the US
24:14violence among Aryan prison gangs
24:19is on the rise
24:20we need medical help
24:21and tensions between
24:24Aryan Brotherhood of Texas
24:25and Aryan Circle
24:26turn to war
24:27over the next two years
24:30there are multiple vicious attacks
24:32from both sides
24:33eventually the units are forced
24:35into lockdown
24:36I used to tell them all the time
24:38look it's not that many of you
24:39white guys in the penitentiary
24:41y'all need to unite
24:41and make just one big gang
24:43and then you know
24:44do what you gotta do
24:45but y'all are killing each other off
24:47that doesn't make any sense
24:48they didn't take my idea seriously
24:51I thought it was pretty genius
24:53but everything changes
24:58when an ABT general
24:59by the name of Dirty Joe Jackson
25:01enters the picture
25:03Dirty Joe
25:05he was a smaller man
25:07he was middle-aged
25:09almost nerdy looking
25:10to be honest
25:11but he was intense
25:13this nerd wreaks havoc on the gang
25:17the Department of Criminal Justice
25:19said
25:20we're gonna charge you
25:21with conspiracy
25:23and we're gonna put
25:24all the murders
25:25and violence
25:25and everything
25:26on you
25:27personally
25:28they were gonna make them
25:29sign a peace treaty
25:30any ABT peace treaty
25:32must be okayed
25:33by all five generals
25:34but Dirty Joe
25:35goes rogue
25:36without approval
25:38from the rest of the wheel
25:39Dirty Joe
25:40sent out
25:41kites
25:42to everybody
25:42and said
25:43stop
25:44the war
25:45it's over
25:45he did that
25:47because
25:47he only had a few years left
25:49he wanted to go home
25:50well
25:51he shot himself
25:52in the foot
25:53ABT is about to be
25:55blown to pieces
25:56with a new war
25:57this time
25:59from within
26:00he tried to separate
26:02from the traditional faction
26:03and tried to do things
26:04that weren't approved
26:06by the constitution
26:06which pissed off
26:08guys like Poncho
26:09and guys like
26:10Stainless Cook
26:10who were the old
26:12traditional members
26:13of the ABT faction
26:14and in fact
26:15they went to war
26:15and they started
26:16to kill each other
26:17Dirty Joe's
26:18renegade cell
26:19creates a wheel
26:19of their own
26:20so at one point
26:21you had 10 ABT generals
26:22operating throughout
26:23the state of Texas
26:24which was complete chaos
26:25it had to be stopped
26:26with an estimated
26:293,000 members
26:30the Aryan Brotherhood
26:31of Texas
26:31can no longer
26:32be contained
26:33by prison walls
26:34but their internal
26:35struggles
26:35are about to spill
26:37into the free world
26:38that's my bro
26:39and I love him
26:40and I might jump
26:41on his ass
26:42and climb on him
26:43but that's because
26:44that's what he needs
26:45what he's out of line
26:46and it's only a matter
26:48of time
26:48before this growing
26:49bloody Texas gang
26:50catches the eye
26:51of the feds
26:52with cataclysmic results
26:54the Aryan Brotherhood
27:01of Texas
27:01today is arguably
27:03the most violent
27:04white supremacist
27:05prison gang
27:06out there
27:06by the early 2000s
27:10the Aryan Brotherhood
27:11of Texas
27:11has splintered
27:12into two factions
27:13one led by
27:16old school general
27:17Poncho Roach
27:18the other by
27:19a gang member
27:20named Dirty Joe
27:21and his steering committee
27:22but despite the war
27:25going on
27:26on the inside
27:26on the outside
27:28ABT begins
27:29to quickly expand
27:30moving millions
27:32of dollars
27:32in meth
27:33the dream
27:34of the steering committee
27:35was to
27:36establish
27:37a free world
27:38criminal organization
27:40they were laying
27:41down the foundation
27:42years and years
27:44before
27:44everybody started
27:45getting out
27:46that's my area
27:48out there
27:49anything that was
27:50going on
27:50that's mine
27:51you know what
27:52I'm saying
27:52they all know that
27:53law enforcement
27:55soon realizes
27:56when it comes to
27:57business
27:57the only color
27:58the white supremacists
27:59see is green
28:01for ABT
28:02the introduction
28:03of meth
28:04brought them up
28:04to par
28:05with the rest
28:05of the gangs
28:06and their
28:07known drugs
28:08of choice
28:08the Afro-American
28:10gang had crack
28:11it is a
28:12cracked epidemic
28:13the Latino gangs
28:15had cocaine
28:15heroin
28:16so now they have
28:17their own
28:18brand out there
28:19and it gives them
28:20not only the power
28:21but it gives them
28:22the financial backing
28:23now to compete
28:24with the rest
28:24their only problem
28:25now is supply and demand
28:26the ABT
28:28would have these
28:29meth labs
28:30out in the woods
28:31and places like that
28:32some ABT members
28:33on the outside
28:34begin to establish
28:35massive compounds
28:37they were set up
28:39on the very outskirts
28:40of our major cities
28:41in those compounds
28:43there were
28:44shop shops
28:45meth kitchens
28:46if you had
28:48things that needed
28:49to disappear
28:49particularly bodies
28:51that compound
28:52would take that
28:53individual
28:54for a fee
28:55and they would
28:56make it disappear
28:57behind those
28:57compound walls
28:58by now
29:01the once primal
29:01prison gang
29:02is engaging
29:03in sophisticated
29:04money laundering
29:04operations
29:05hiding in plain sight
29:07a business
29:07amongst other
29:08businesses
29:09this tattoo business
29:11was more
29:11a front
29:12to clean money
29:13individuals
29:14that visited
29:14that establishment
29:15just to get tattoos
29:17of all
29:18of races
29:18money's money
29:19at the end of the day
29:20the only color
29:22that really matters
29:22for the ABT
29:23is going to be green
29:24but there's a saying
29:28more money
29:29more problems
29:30by 2008
29:32with ABT's empire
29:33outside prison walls
29:34pulling in serious money
29:36the feds take notice
29:37as I start digging
29:38into this investigation
29:39I see that ABT
29:40is committing crimes
29:41throughout the state
29:42of Texas
29:42but there's no unified
29:45effort in going after him
29:46and that's exactly
29:48what we did
29:49we said let's go after him
29:50with some of the
29:50strongest statutes
29:51in the federal government
29:52which are the RICO statutes
29:53life for stainless
29:58Stephen Cook
29:58is about to change
30:00when a career criminal
30:01turns informant
30:02I ran a search warrant
30:04on someone's house
30:05he was an armed career criminal
30:06we thought he was
30:06providing silences
30:07and firearms
30:08to the banditos
30:09outlaw motorcycle gang
30:10once he discovered
30:11the firearms in his house
30:12and he was looking
30:12at 15 years mandatory men
30:13he decided he wanted
30:15to get on Team USA
30:16he told me
30:17I should probably
30:18refocus my efforts
30:19not on the banditos
30:20but the area
30:21in brotherhood of Texas
30:21and one of the most
30:22violent guys
30:23you need to be looking
30:23at is a guy
30:23by the name of Stephen Cook
30:24and when they get wind
30:31of a secret church meeting
30:32to take place
30:33that September
30:34they pounce
30:36now as we started
30:37to kind of dig
30:38into this case
30:39and started to get informants
30:40so this was a ripe opportunity
30:41to get information
30:42at an ABT church meeting
30:45held at General Stephen Stainless Cook's home
30:49the gang gives a beat down
30:53like no other
30:53to an ABT prospect
30:55which they even
30:57officially note
30:57on the sign-in sheet
30:58with an X
31:00at the bottom
31:00feel like a man now?
31:05ABT's discipline
31:06can end in death
31:07but not always
31:09they almost killed him
31:11they left him for dead
31:11they dropped his body
31:12up in Montgomery County
31:13north of Houston
31:14you'll see guys
31:17just have the shit
31:17beat out of him
31:18in a high severity
31:18discipline
31:19they won't necessarily
31:19be killed
31:20because these guys
31:21are smart enough
31:21to know
31:21hey look
31:22if I have a body
31:22on my hands
31:23that's going to
31:23cause a lot of problems
31:24this beat down
31:28starts off
31:28as a bad night
31:29for the prospect
31:30but it's about
31:32to be much worse
31:33for ABT as a whole
31:34this was a ripe opportunity
31:36for us to charge
31:37these 12 defendants
31:39for violent crime
31:41and aided racketeering
31:42with internal war raging
31:45the feds are circling
31:47we knew
31:48we knew
31:48that we had a group
31:49that was one
31:50in enterprise
31:50and secondly
31:51it was committing
31:52a pattern
31:53of criminal activity
31:54so when we decided
31:55to go after the ABT
31:56we knew right off the bat
31:57that they were rico worthy
31:58the ABT may now be
32:00on the feds radar
32:01but the backstabbing
32:02and the brutality
32:03among their own members
32:04they hit him in the head
32:06one time real hard
32:06takes another deadly turn
32:10with ABT still split in half
32:13generals Frank Pancho Roach
32:15and Stephen Stainless Cook
32:16on the OG side
32:17and Dirty Joe's
32:19renegade side
32:20with its very own
32:20steering committee
32:21things can't go on
32:23like this forever
32:24I really shouldn't
32:25be even talking about
32:26but there's things
32:27that I could tell you
32:28and they know
32:29what the rules are right
32:31and I'm stoked
32:33and I'm real unhappy
32:35about it
32:36but just a month
32:38after the Savage Church meeting
32:40where the prospect
32:43is beaten to a bloody pulp
32:44Stainless Cook and ABT
32:47strike again
32:48and ambush one of their own
32:55Brutal beatings
33:04firebombs
33:06drug trafficking
33:07and murder
33:08are all part of ABT's
33:10alleged standard
33:12operating procedures
33:13that October
33:20another gruesome milestone
33:22the gang is pissed
33:26at an ABT member
33:27named Scott Freeman
33:29aka Arizona
33:31they think he's hooked up
33:32with at least one
33:33of his ABT brother's wives
33:35and another's
33:36underage daughter
33:37and that kind of disrespect
33:39will not be tolerated
33:41Scott Freeman
33:42was a major
33:43on the renegade faction
33:45of the ABT
33:46Stephen Cook
33:47didn't like this guy
33:48he didn't trust him
33:49he felt he was working
33:50both sides of the fence
33:51they decide to greenlight him
33:53the plan is for Stainless
33:55and another ABT member
33:56David Jason Michaels
33:58and two females
33:59to meet up with Arizona
34:00they kind of lured him
34:01to say hey look
34:02let's have a conversation
34:03we were going to be outside
34:04blow the car
34:06the rounds buried down
34:10suck my dick
34:11in the course of driving around
34:16up in Liberty County
34:17for a little bit
34:17they pulled over
34:18to the side of the road
34:19Scott Freeman's
34:22in the back of his truck
34:23smoking meth
34:23or doing whatever
34:24he was doing
34:24but what Cook did
34:26is he shot him
34:26I think five times
34:27before he hit the ground
34:28and then he walked up to him
34:29and put one in the head
34:30just for good measure
34:31a passing motorist
34:36in rural Texas
34:37discovers Arizona's
34:38bullet ridden body
34:39laying next to his
34:40pickup truck
34:41the fallout from the killing
34:45causes a tsunami
34:46inside the ABT
34:47and marks the beginning
34:49of the end
34:49of Dirty Joe's
34:50splinter cell
34:51they don't have the strength
34:52you had a couple guys
34:53on the street
34:53there's too many of them
34:54that are locked up
34:55essentially the renegade
34:56faction went away
34:57it just dissipated
34:58after that murder
34:59the ABT may be unified
35:01but things are looking bad
35:03for Stainless Steve
35:04what's going on?
35:07oh
35:07not good Frankie
35:09not good
35:10you don't sound good
35:11what's the matter?
35:12they got Steve
35:14what?
35:15so in October of 2008
35:17he gets arrested
35:18at a motel
35:18in Polk County
35:19there was a disturbance call
35:23and the cops showed up
35:24and they figured out
35:24these guys had warrants
35:25and as a result
35:26the people that were
35:27in the hotel room
35:28were arrested
35:28and the vehicles
35:29that were outside
35:30were searched
35:30inside the vehicles
35:32the cops find hard drives
35:34what's on these hard drives
35:38gives the feds
35:40exactly what they need
35:41to move in on stainless
35:43you had pictures
35:44of all these type
35:45of exotic firearms
35:46it's like
35:46well where the hell are they?
35:48and if you don't have them on you
35:49typically you're going to have them
35:50at your house
35:50they didn't know
35:51that Steve was in prison
35:52for some reason
35:53well his mom said
35:54my son's been in prison
35:56for two years
35:57they wanted to search the house
35:58the feds roll up
36:00the Arizona murder
36:01and the assault
36:02on the prospect
36:03into a larger RICO case
36:04they call
36:05Operation Wheel Confinement
36:07there were probably
36:1020 maybe 25
36:12different law enforcement
36:14organizations
36:14that were part of it
36:15and there's a saying
36:17in federal law enforcement
36:17there's only two types
36:18of federal inmates
36:19those that cooperate
36:20and those that wish they did
36:22under interrogation
36:26Stainless starts talking
36:28he basically confessed
36:30to the murder
36:30and what he wound up doing
36:32in his confession
36:32is essentially states
36:33look it was me
36:34and me alone
36:35that committed this murder
36:36and he essentially
36:37left David Jason Michaels
36:39off of the list
36:39for the homicide
36:40for the Arizona murder
36:43Stainless is put away
36:44for life
36:45and within the whole
36:46of Operation Wheel Confinement
36:48no general gets off easy
36:50all five active generals
36:52one for each of the regions
36:53have been prosecuted
36:54convicted
36:55and will spend long sentences
36:57in federal prison
36:57but not everyone
36:59says Operation Wheel Confinement
37:00was a good thing
37:02taking prison gang members
37:04and sticking them
37:05in other prisons
37:06just helps the prison gang
37:07to grow
37:08ABT has not been hurt
37:10perhaps in certain areas
37:12and for a short period of time
37:14but now ABT is a major force
37:17in the federal prison system
37:18while before they were not
37:19sending them to the feds
37:23gave them access
37:24to even higher caliber
37:26of recruits
37:27state prisoners
37:28are not impressive
37:29federal prisoners
37:30are impressive
37:31they're more serious criminals
37:33they have more access
37:34to money
37:35it's like going
37:36from grade school
37:37to Harvard
37:38Operation Wheel Confinement
37:40is one for the books
37:41in taking down ABT
37:43but the gang rolls on
37:45and in 2016
37:47ABT amps up
37:48their level of bloodshed
37:49when a party
37:50turns into a night of horror
37:52taking their brutality
37:54to new lows
37:55a party at a high ranking
38:03ABT member's house
38:04is about to turn deadly
38:06Michael Rogers
38:08aka Texas Mike
38:10has a bunch of guys
38:12over to his place
38:13in West Dallas
38:14Texas Mike Rogers
38:15was an Aryan Brotherhood
38:16Texas major
38:17here in the Dallas
38:18Fort Worth area
38:19so when Texas Mike
38:21first went to
38:22federal prison
38:23most of West Dallas
38:24where he lived
38:25was white
38:27Caucasian
38:28in the years
38:30in which he spent
38:31in prison
38:31it had gentrified
38:32and it had become
38:33largely Hispanic
38:34I think that kind of
38:35grated on him
38:36a little bit
38:36he is part of a
38:38white supremacist
38:39race-based prison gang
38:40it's a mix of gangs
38:43at Texas Mike's
38:44but the drugs on site
38:47make them all
38:48fast friends
38:49that is until
38:50Texas Mike
38:51finds his wallet missing
38:52he blames a guy
38:55by the name
38:55of Alberto Gonzalez
38:56who's rumored
38:58to have a
38:58developmental disability
38:59they start
39:01the beatdown on him
39:02Mike cools off
39:04when Gonzalez
39:05promises to
39:06mow his lawn
39:06for a month
39:07to pay off
39:07the debt
39:08of $600
39:08a lot of these guys
39:10don't have a lot
39:11of money
39:11so a few hundred
39:12bugs
39:13can get you murdered
39:14thinking the fight
39:16is over
39:16the party goers
39:17go back to their crank
39:18but for Texas Mike
39:20it's not
39:21one of the guys
39:23grabs a hammer
39:24and begins to bash
39:25Gonzalez's legs
39:26an ABT member
39:27gets in on the action
39:28cracking Gonzalez
39:29on the head
39:30with a beer bottle
39:30the violence escalates
39:32as one of the attackers
39:33uses a hot spoon
39:35to sear
39:35Gonzalez's face
39:36Texas Mike
39:38goes to his bedroom
39:39he returns
39:40carrying a drill
39:41he told two subordinate
39:47ABT members
39:48to grab Alberto
39:50put him in a chair
39:51duct tape him
39:52to the chair
39:53at which time
39:54they tortured him
39:54to use the power drill
39:55to drill into his skull
39:57and his face
39:58and his body
39:59once they're sure
40:01Gonzalez is dead
40:02they call someone
40:03with a truck
40:03to help them
40:04ditch the body
40:04they put him
40:05in a toolbox
40:06and head to a remote area
40:08where they set
40:09the body on fire
40:10if a major
40:12in the ABT
40:12gives an order
40:13it has to be followed
40:14again you gotta realize
40:16that every ABT member
40:18has signed
40:18a blind faith commitment
40:19meaning that they will
40:20follow any order
40:21without question
40:22and it has to be done
40:24or they can suffer
40:25the consequences
40:25we were all
40:29in prison together
40:30it was a smaller
40:31organization
40:32and we had
40:33a code
40:34and things
40:35that we were proud
40:36of about ourselves
40:37once guys started
40:38getting out
40:39and getting spun out
40:40on meth
40:40they started
40:41doing stuff
40:42that we would
40:42have never tolerated
40:44none of us
40:45wanted to be
40:45associated
40:46with that
40:47holy shit
40:50I'm getting
40:50the hell out of here
40:51Irving 911
40:52what is your emergency
40:53yes ma'am
40:54holy shit
40:55I think we found
40:56a burnt body
40:57over here
40:57the charred remains
40:58of Alberto Gonzalez
40:59are found
41:00at the edge
41:00of a lake
41:01in Irving Texas
41:01at first
41:03local police
41:03are stumped
41:04but they receive
41:06a tip
41:06from the Department
41:07of Homeland Security
41:08suggesting that
41:09ABT members
41:10had recently
41:11committed a murder
41:12nearby
41:12the cops get
41:14Texas Mike's
41:14cell phone records
41:15and issue a search
41:16warrant on his home
41:17where they find
41:19all the weapons
41:20used in Gonzalez's
41:21murder
41:21Texas Mike is
41:23interrogated
41:23for four hours
41:24because my brother
41:26was mentally ill
41:28too
41:28do you think
41:29this guy's
41:30mentally ill
41:30well he's got
41:32a speeching problem
41:33I'm not saying
41:33he's mentally ill
41:34but he has a
41:35speeching problem
41:35and I have a tendency
41:39you have
41:39I'm big hearted
41:41with people like that
41:42torturing a mentally
41:45handicapped man
41:47to death
41:47is shameful
41:48beyond all measure
41:50once on the stand
41:52Texas Mike tries
41:53to convince the jury
41:54that he has
41:55a big heart
41:55for disabled people
41:56but they don't
41:57buy it
41:58in June 2018
42:02Texas Mike
42:03catches life
42:04with no possibility
42:05of parole
42:06for capital murder
42:07in Texas prison
42:09you could just
42:09kill somebody
42:10just because
42:11you're having
42:11a bad day
42:12if you take
42:13that mentality
42:13to the free world
42:15then yeah
42:16drilling holes
42:17in a guy's head
42:17becomes somehow
42:18justified
42:20in that awful
42:21prison
42:23way
42:24today with the
42:29Aryan Brotherhood
42:30of Texas
42:30numbering in the
42:31thousands
42:31no one knows
42:33what's coming
42:34I think the future
42:35of the Aryan Brotherhood
42:36of Texas
42:36it's either going
42:38to slowly wither
42:40on the bind
42:41because being a racist
42:42is the worst thing
42:43that anybody can call you
42:44or it's going to go
42:46just the opposite
42:47ABT baby
42:48the ideology
42:50of Aryan Brotherhood
42:51of Texas
42:51runs deep
42:52so the ideology
42:54alone will keep
42:54them alive
42:55but there's one
42:56unsettling sign
42:57the ABT
42:58has branched off
42:59into becoming
43:00a motorcycle club
43:01so the ABT
43:02actually has a
43:03motorcycle club
43:04down
43:04it's one of the
43:04things they did
43:05post Operation
43:06Wheel Confinement
43:07and they actually
43:08have cuts
43:08right
43:09that they'll
43:09actually ride
43:10in Texas
43:10it says Aryan
43:11Brotherhood of Texas
43:12and has a Texas
43:13rocker at the bottom
43:14their cuts even
43:15say 1%
43:16referencing the fact
43:18that they're in
43:18the 1% of biker
43:19gangs that are
43:20outlaws
43:21that just shows
43:22you how bold
43:24and loud
43:25they've gotten
43:26because they're
43:28stronger
43:28Mary Ann Denner
43:30recites a poem
43:30written by a white
43:31supremacist
43:32this one's called
43:33The Tree
43:34this poem is about
43:36a special kind
43:37of tree
43:38that grows
43:39in the southern
43:40land
43:40the tree was
43:41planted long ago
43:42by a group called
43:44the Ku Klux Klan
43:45this special tree
43:48that I write about
43:49is called
43:50by the name
43:51Peckerwood
43:51the thought
43:53they could
43:54chop it down
43:54they chopped
43:55and chopped
43:56but never could
43:57it takes more
43:58heart
43:58than the got
43:59to chop
44:00through solid
44:01wood
44:02these types of poems
44:04go to show
44:05not just the ideology
44:06but how deep
44:07they're steeped
44:08into it
44:08they believe
44:09strongly
44:10in what the Aryan
44:12Brotherhood of Texas
44:12stands for
44:13and the pride
44:15that they carry
44:15with it
