00:00The Yankees got, me and you talked last week, how crucial it was going to be for them,
00:05especially if they lost that fourth game Thursday night in Toronto, which they did,
00:10have a big weekend against the Mets, which I guess you could say, George, they didn't.
00:16They leave it in worse shape than when they got in, and they're not even going to have Schmidt
00:19for the rest of the year. Tough scene for the Yankees right now, George.
00:24Yeah, listen, I don't know if it's going to go away anytime soon. All right.
00:29We were complaining about the offense for a while, right?
00:31Well, that offense over the week was averaging almost six runs a game.
00:34Offense isn't the problem here. All right.
00:36The pitching staff is falling apart, to put it nicely.
00:39You mentioned Schmidt is now out.
00:41More than likely, Schlitter is going to make a start this week.
00:44Tuesday and Wednesday, we'll see what he does for the Yankees here.
00:47But they've got issues up and down here.
00:48The bullpen is falling apart, to put it nicely.
00:52And have you seen the schedule for the Yankees for the rest of the month of July here?
00:56We have Seattle, then we have the Cubs, then you have Atlanta, then you have Toronto again.
01:02In Toronto, that really didn't go all that well this week.
01:05And then you have Philadelphia and Tampa.
01:08Good luck to the Yankees in July here.
01:10Listen, the tough times are not ending anytime soon.
01:15They're really not.
01:17Man, that is brutal.
01:19You're right.
01:19I'm looking at it now.
01:21That's brutal.
01:22Now, August is a lot better for them.
01:23There's a lot of Marlins and Nationals and White Sox and things like that in the month of August.
01:29But I think it just comes down to it, George.
01:31They're just not that good.
01:34I think we just have to call it like it is.
01:36They're just not that great of a team.
01:37And they'll still make the playoffs because when they face all those teams in August,
01:41they'll go on some 15 out of 20, 20 out of 27, something like that against those bad teams.
01:49And they'll put themselves in position to be in a wild card.
01:52But I don't even think there's a deal they can make, even if it's Suarez getting out.
01:57No, they need a legitimate third baseman either way.
02:00But I don't even think there's a deal they can make that makes them a legitimate threat to anybody in the AL.
02:06Oh, I agree.
02:08Coming into the year, we knew it was going to be a problem, right?
02:10As soon as Garrett Cole went down, I was like, uh-oh.
02:12All right.
02:13You know what?
02:14How much can you truly expect from the Yankees here?
02:16Then there's Louis Heal, right?
02:18So he goes, you're one and three starter.
02:19You want to say Heal was a four, fine.
02:21You're one and four.
02:23It's not going to be easy.
02:24Max Freed has been great.
02:25All right.
02:26Rodon has been, for the most part, good.
02:27Not so much this past week, but for the most part, good here.
02:30But that's about it here.
02:32I mean, right now, you're hanging on to Stroman, Warren.
02:36And as I said, I like Warren.
02:37He's a number five fine.
02:38But, I mean, you need to hit the pitch better now.
02:41Stroman, at best, is a five and fly guy, right?
02:44Get through your five innings.
02:45Give up your three runs.
02:46Have a five-point whatever ERA there.
02:48That's what you're hoping for.
02:49And the offense is going to have to continue to hit.
02:51But as you said there, they need a third baseman, right?
02:53And I don't even know if that's number one on the priority list anymore.
02:56They need a bullpen piece, too.
02:58If not more, they need a starting pitcher now, as well.
03:01There's a lot of holes on this Yankee team.
03:03And there's not going to be a one trade that's going to fix this.
03:06They would need to make multiple deals.
03:07And if I'm cashman, you may have to realize this may not be the year.
03:11You know, there's too many things going wrong right now.
03:14And they'll shop at the discount rack like they did.
03:16They picked up this Heimer Candelario that the Reds got rid of.
03:19You know, that's the kind of stuff that the Yankees will do.
03:22They can't find the quarters under the couch for anybody else.
